ANDROID Lollipop for LG G2 general discussion (news&leaks&problems&expectations)
LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Confirmed, Could Arrive Early 2015
Android 5.0 Lollipop was officially announced earlier this month and since then many Android OMEs revealed their plans to update their devices to the new Android version. LG Germany revealed in a post on their Facebook page that the LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is coming.
The said post was actually made to announce that the update for LG G3 will arrive in the last quarter of the year, but it also mentioned about the company’s flagship smartphone from last year. It says that the Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G2 “will follow,” which might mean early 2015.
We are glad to see that LG is not forgetting about the owners of “older” devices. I am sure that the LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be warmly welcomed by everybody.
As you may know, Android 5.0 is the biggest update Google’s mobile platform has received since its debut. It’s even bigger than the jump from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich. The new Android iteration arrives with redesigned notifications panel and quick settings, it brings lock screen notifications, battery saver mode, multi-user support for phones, a new design philosophy called Material design, a dynamic status bar, revised recents screen, support for 64-bit processor, Android Runtime (ART), and many more.
What are your expectations for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G2? Please let us know in the comments section below.

yet another Lollypop thread? c'mon
I truly expect my G2 phone, after update to L, will "suddenly" become 6", QHD screen with 3.0GHz processor and 4GB or RAM and battery lasts 2 weeks with moderate use.
Wait ............. not doable? If so, I expect nothing then.
Sad!

Android L is pretty close now so i have to ask..will LG update the phone to android L probably or maybe not?
If not would a dev be able to utilise that?
Android "L" is not pretty close, it will be released around November.
Hi folks
Is there any news about updating of our device for Andrew 6.0???
That's what I have been found, for a while

Unfounded rumors. The sole purpose of this "article" is to attract page views. Considering that G2 received the 5.0 upgrade, I'd say 6.0 for G3 is possible few month after release.
Hi
I was wondering why there are almost no Chinese tablets with android lollipop.
You can look at aliexpress and see that almost 95% percent of the tablet are android kitkat. And its already a year after the release.
Also I have not seen any rockchip based tablet with android lollipop.
It might be that the industry will skip a release?
Thanks.
Honor 5x is reaching its two year mark, I was curious to know what people thought of the Huawei's performance in regards to updates? In a blog post on the Huawei site, Huawei promises to provide feature update for 2 years from release and then provide security update for a unspecified amount of time.
For their feature upgrades, it appears that they upgrade to Mashmallow, but then failed to update to Nougat because Google failed to support their device's upgrade to Nougat (!?).
So how well have Huawei performed compare to their competitors? Based on info on the T-mobile website, it would appear that most phone get quarterly updates for roughly 3 years.

Some variants had no updates for more than 6 months. If I'm not wrong, some even haven't received Marshmallow yet. My L21 (EU) received september patch in november, and here, now it's march of 2017, nothing. One not-working january update (OTA not available, firmware downloaded via FF can't be installed - fails at random percentage, and it's not available as full image) and that's it.
Still, that's much better than my previous experience with LG (phone came with 4.1.2, got only one, buggy update - 4.4.2 a year later, and that was the end of the line, Lollipop came only for Korean variant; bootloader not unlockable, device basically running on hacks (sooo many unnecessary source changes by LG... and device was nearly 3x more the price I paid for L21).
Nougat update wasn't provided because they pushed out Honor 6X on their home-brewed chipset, so I guess 5X is a collateral damage with it's snapdragon requiring Huawei to obtain newer blobs. I guess that's how stuff work.
Luckily, we have good community
I stumbled on this article:
LG surprises with Android 12 update containing June 2022 security patch for LG Wing
LG has begun upgrading the Wing to Android 12, seven months on from the device's last OS update. Android 12 brings several changes to the device and contains the latest set of Android security patches. Rolling out in South Korea first, Android 12 is over a 1.5 GB download and is the LG Wing's...

So apparently some Wings are already on Android 12!
I just bought an unlocked carrier free LG Wing (LM-F100EMW) in Germany and it says it is up to date with Android 10 with a 1 July 2021 Security Patch Level?
Why is there such a discrepancy in release dates?
Strange. I wouldn't sweat it. 10 is better version anyway. Another from 9 or higher is secure enough unless you do something stupid.
Well, I did some digging and found this thread:
LGUp 1.16.3 Patched Found and Works with LG Wing
Honestly found it on XDA of all places after looking for it all night What does 1.16 give us that 1.14 doesn't? Everything honestly. Could not get my Wing recognized to flash with 1.14. No 1.15 Patched exists either We can downgrade with...

And I managed to flash Android 11.
Can you flash back to 10? I am in the US and no update to 12 yet
Just received Android 12. So far seems to be working well. Have some nice added features, mainly seems to be more polished than 11. Another cool feature is that it shows you with a Green Dot indicator by the battery when you're camera and/or microphone is on.

Seems pretty snappy. Window, transitions, notification pull Downs, notification previews are all prettier. I would say I'm pleased with Android 12. Battery life seems to be as good or better also!
So I ordered a F100N to use in Scandinavia. And I heard they've come further than the US versions. Just wanted to know if it could be upgraded to Android 12? Or even 13?
LG Wing Android 12 updates has bugs. I am not able to open Wi-Fi settings and other sensors stopped working. After a hard reset it worked for 3 weeks but again same problem. Even after installing new patch with 5G support my Wing in unable to connect to Wi-Fi.
