Will sony release a quick charger? I can't find any on amazon.. hmm any recommendations?
Im in a web chat with a sony rep right now asking that very question, not expecting much but will update with any info they provide (if any).
EDIT: Agent Katrina: Thank you very much for that information. According to what I'm seeing here, you have an inquiry about the compatibility of our Xperia™ Z3 with the Quick Charger 2.0. Am I correct?
Ryan: That is correct!
Agent Katrina: I understand. We appreciate your interest and enthusiasm regarding our Xperia™ devices. In regard to your inquiry, as you can see on the link below your devices are only compatible with this model of Quick charger.
The agent is sending you to http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/quick-charger-ep851/.
Agent Katrina: I'm sorry, our devices.
Ryan: I See, thank you
Isn't the included charger a quick charger? the model i got was ep880, i think.

Hmm, I found one on eBay, you think it'll work?

Just get a 2amp Blackberry charger, works just as good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004XKG7NM?pc_redir=1414450441&robot_redir=1
What is are the specs of a quick charger? I don't know that much about it all. Can you simply get the Motorola Turbo charging wall adapter and then use a magnetic charger with the Z3?

I;m not UK.
so, the charger provided with the phone isn't a quick charger?
According to Qualcomm, here is the compatible phones list...
https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapdragon/2014/06/04/quick-charge-20-has-arrived
You can also find the list of compatible accessories. Buy those and you will be fine.
and here is the Z3 official page on their website...it is totally compatible with quick charge 2.0. So you can buy a HTC charger and still get away with it...

cables
I'm planning to buy a quick charger for my Z3. Maybe i'll buy this one. I just want to know, what cable should i use? or will the default cable of the Z3 would enable quick charge? Here is the charger i'm planning to buy. Is quick charge cable dependent as well? can't find any post about the cables.
http://www.pure-gear.com/extreme-usb-wall-charger-849.html
I thought it was a Quickcharger (EP880), the one that came with the phone.
It is EP881.
If you buy a EP881, they give you a EP880 power adapter(this already comes with the phone) and a different looking usb cable. so i would say if you buy a z3 you already have a quick charger. someone in the z3 compact forums confirms this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/accessories/magnetic-dock-quick-charger-t2926784
also if you google EP881 you can see multiple images of the EP880 power adapter.
i hope this clears up any confusion
EP880 is not a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger
FYI, just received a Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 compatible charger and the Z3 definitely takes advantage of it. I have the Tenergy Turbo charger and the light is blue for normal charging and green for Quick charge 2.0. The only downside is it doesn't seem to work using the magnetic charging port, only directly into USB.
Roughly how fast do you get a full charge?
I read that with 2.0 it rapid charges to ~65% and then normal rate.

Not sure since I only had it on for a little while testing today. No I don't feel like running down my battery and testing it, it takes to long to run down the battery
It absolutely, definitely charges at QC 2.0 speeds though, but only via the USB directly into the phone, not through the magnetic charger.

proof? sony seem to think they are considering when you buy EP881 you buy is actually a combination of EP880 and a usb cable.
did you buy an EP881? if so what model number is on the brick?

they are "quick charge" but not Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 spec. Maximum output for the EP880 is 5v 1500mA. Quick Charge 2.0 charges at 5v 2000mA (2A) or 9v 2A, or 12v 1.5A

ah ok that now makes sense, Sony should make this clear. it is already hard enough to find information about all of this.
Guys,
Charger provided with my Sony Xperia z3 got short circuit (burning smell from the head piece) on the 1st charge itself. It was replaced in the sony service center. The issue is, the output the replaced charger was 5V-1500mAH. I forgot the output rating the charger provided in the box. Please confirm the output rating by the pic. Based on your inputs, I will raise a request to my retailer to provide. Please find the rating of the replaced charger.
Yes mine is 1500 as well out of the box. Sorry your pic don't load. Can you tell me model number of your charger?
Sent from my D6633 using XDA Free mobile app
Now i see it. Yes it's 1500ma and your charger is ep880

If my memory stands correct, box version of the charger rating was mentioned as 3000mAh or 2000mAH. I might have misread it in the frenzy of getting Z3 and I am the 1st buyer in Chennai, atleast that's wat the retailer told me.
I forgot to take a snapshot at tat time. My USB cable version is EC803 and Charger (provided by service center) is EP880. I have searched throughout the internet and no where the output rating of Z3 box version of charger was mentioned.
Are u sure that the box version of Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653 LTE) has the same output rating of 1500mAH. Thanks in advance.

Definitely 1500mAh
I really wish Sony would have included a quick charger in the box....
I am disappointed that the quick charge is not working with the magnetic charging port... did you try using the adapter or the usb cable when you tested if it charged faster with the magnetic port?

"quick charge" or charging at 5v 2A (2000mA) works through the magnetic charging port. This is still very fast.
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which charges at 9v 2A does not work through the magnetic port, which is not a surprise to me.
I'm an idiot, I left my charger at work. Is there another compatible charger I can buy or do I have to drop $35 for the turbocharger from Motorola ( I know any mini USB charger will work but I don't wanna wait 5 hours.)
Yeah there's a good amount now, just look for Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 compatibility. I have the Tenergy one that was cheap and works great.
Tenergy - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OVD3FEU/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_DHznvb0DA4SX4
Aukey - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QEX83LA/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_IJznvb0BZTR1Z
Anker - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q88Q16K/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_FKznvb0TDG6A1
Hope this helps!

I'm gonna have to :good::good::good: this one because I agree, those are all great options. I like the look of the Aukey personally, almost looks like a matte finish around it! Really it all falls into reviews/looks/cost
They are all great alternatives and don't look to be quite so blockish as the motorola one is
I got this since I also wanted to get a car charger...$25 for the pair, multiple ports.

Haha, I would post a sign at work with a picture of the charter that reads "whoever took my charger is in for a big surprise in a week when their battery explodes from too much power". We know that's BS but it may scare the office thief into bringing it back
that's lame of people to take your charger. Where do you work if you don't mind me asking? Or the type of work you do?
Someone recently took my charger come to think of it. 4 port wall plug from monoprice. It's a great work horse.

Yupp same technology. Qualcomm lists them as compatible on their website so you know they've been truly certified.

Ordered one off Amazon works great. Same charge speed as well.
I'm a firm believer in Anker products. I now buy only Anker chargers and cables. They have Smart IQ, which automatically adjusts amperage based on what the device can accept, so you will always get the max charge. They always get close to 5 stars on Amazon. Actually, they are the highest rated chargers you can get.

If you want to use quick charger that's fine with me. My anker charger is pretty quick as is. I've heard that quick charging may eventually hurt battery life in the long run, so I choose not to use it. I don't need quick charge because I don't even use my phone a whole lot to begin with and rarely go below 60%. Plus, I have a charger handy wherever I am. (car/work/home/portable charger)
I have the Qualcomm one off of Amazon and I honestly believe that it charges quicker.
Hi guys, Lollipop Stock rom seems to take longer to charge battery from 0-100 when compared to that of kitkat. (more than 3 hrs) . I dont know whether this is related to electric supply from boards in my home or not.
I am trying to buy Sony CP-AD2 USB AC Adaptor quick charger but need reviews before buying this. Is anyone using this ?? or used in the past ? Is this compaitable with Xperia Z3 and faster ??
Also suggest me if there are any quick chargers available in the market other than sony one (Z3 supports qualcomm quick charge 2.0) ???

I think India is amazon.in - don't know if those products are available in india
In general QC2.0 chargers are the fastest charging you can possible see on a Z3. If that's not fast enough for you, nothing will be.

There are a few by oppo with vooc support but they are available in china only for now.
OK thanks.
Also does anyone know where I can buy an official oppo reno 10x zoom vooc charger. Its so hard to fine a 5v/4a charger. The one plus dash charge is the same current. Is that compatible with oppo vooc charging?

Oh OK thanks
So I understand the plug is different. Is the cable also specific?
