Hi everyone, i'm trying to make my first custom rom for the xperia u. I've flashed the rom i'm building (i'm testing it) but i get stuck in the bootanimation. It stays on the bootanimation for about one minute and then it reboots automatically. Where can the problem be?

I'm using the latest version of the Xperia U AOSX ROM as base and i've just edited the build.prop, some apps preinstalled and the bootanimation for now. I'm not working on the framework because i'm stuck on this problem for now. Thank you for the answer anyway

Both.. boot-animation and build.prop can make this happen, try making partial changes, bootanimation 1st, then prop, then..
There is this tool, i have used it a lot.. for my own(personal usage) roms, it can be quite useful.

It is the animation when widows change you will notice yourself once you install it
And you will get confused with the patch thing
Just give me the framework-res.apk in system/framework/ from your rom and I will do it for you

thanks faraz! but seeing the last comments i think i'll leave my phone as it is now, because i got a really good config and i don't want to risk it... by now... if i get bored of it i'll ask you again if you don't mind... but, of course... thank you for offering!!!

14 reboots and finally unplug the battery and then into CWM and restore backup.

ive made a force reboot (middlebutton+powerbutton/pressed) and restore my backup too definitely is something bad with this, can you please try to fix it?

it is fixed now download it from the 1st post and if you still facing some problems just install the undo package and it will restore your phone state

I m not sure but maybe it has something to do with the kernel...when you use so many roms for ur own rom...did you use appropriate kernel that is supported by all of dem?

i think ray is too much different from xmp CMIIW
maybe u can ask some devs by PM.
I think you need JB kernel in order to run JB.
You have to port the kernel that came with the ROM.
But don't ask me how
You must port framework and apps,if it's hdpi framework on mdpi,the rom will always be in booting stage,and bootanim will never end.
Ok,
since it is hdpi to mdpi,
I resized the framework and replaced apps from Paranoid JB from dhk.- ( he allowed me to use it as base )
And about the kernel I used the FXP136 kernel since it is the only kernel for JB...
What I only know is it blinks the red led light every 5~10 seconds while booting.
And then it never ends...:crying:

replace these files from base to the rom you want to port
see the files in pics
And don't forget to edit the build.prop

Hello guys,, I'm using the Xolo X1000 Intel based phone running Android 4.1.2. I rooted it recently (but being a newbie, didn't take proper system backups or anything).
I tried some root apps and now both my soft keys as well as the notification bar have disseapeared.. I understand that this is to do with the Systemui.apk.. My question is: How do I fix this?
If it possible to use the systemui.apk from any other phone then please tell me. ( And posting the same would be heavily useful)
Please, someone help me..
uhmm, if u used apktool it takes a backup of the apps you're about to decompile so if ppl like me and you forget ,it helps

Um, I didn't mod anything by myself.. I used some software called Softkeyz, which botched up the systemui..
Well, I got the problem resolved.. I guess this thread can be closed now.. This is a valuable lesson that you shouldn't mess with stuff unless you know exactly how it works!

I got the systemui.apk from a fellow phone owner. Replaced it and then everything was working fine.
I believe that the file is still hosted on one of the threads about our phone. Just search for the phone and you'll find it here.

Gravity Box should do the job. Otherwise Biotik is working on a 4.2 bar style mod for stock rom - but I don't know when it will be ready. Please don't PM him o sth.. When he has done, you will find it
It's not that easy to port this into stock rom because we cannot compile stock rom from source. It needs a lot of work and w/o smali editing it's much more diffcult to realize. So it could take some time..
Why not just using a KitKat rom??? SlimKat 3.1 is fully stable! You can select to use whether its original kernel, JBX 3.0.8 version or JBX 3.0.31 kernel - if you like many options for tweaking.
Ive tried porting from other device, it works but so buggy and laggy when pulling up/down the notification window, some toggles dont work. And the look is not so good.

my phone is running on kitkat .
its recovery is twrp (team win recovery project )
my phone doesnt have any custom roms so i decided to make a rom myself
so finally i managed to make a rom based on the stock firmware
i tried installing my rom through twrp but i ended up getting an error
: ERROR EXECUTING UPDATER BINARY IN ZIP '/EXTERNAL_SD/TR3_ROM.zip
ERROR flashing zip '/external_sd/tr3_rom.zip
can someone help me fix this error ??
or telll me what wouldve caused this error ??

Take an updater-binary from a roms META-INF that flashes without any problem, and for lollipop ui well that's going to be long as you'll have to mod a bunch of system apps.... you have to theme and mod most system apps to match lollipop style, here's a good place to start:
