I just upgraded to CM 11. When i open the apps screen there is no "Play." when I click on one of the play icons a msg appears that says, "your device is not supported." I never had this problem on any other release of CM.
Any suggestions?

Did you flash the correct version on the nook color bnvr200?
You should be using this version

I have reset everything in cwm6012 and reinstalled cm10.1.
My usd card was cwm6048, but the emmc had 6012. When I loaded cm11 the "big eyed alien with the rotating arrow" appeared and booted to cm11. The whole system was screwed. I did a factory reset, wiped everything formatted everything, unmounted and remounted.
Everything seems back to normal, except my usd card is not present in file manager. An icon appears that says "sd sucessfully installed."
I have
cwm-6.0.4.8-encore-emmc+sd-v3.zip
but do I put it on sdcard0 or sdcard1 and do a emmc recovery?
I am very confused about flashing. Where to put files for install and which selection to use to install.
thanks for the reply

You can download it to sdcard1 (external sd card) or sdcard0 (internal sdcard).
Next, Reboot to recovery.
Next, Select "install zip".
Next, Depending where you downloaded the file cwm-6.0.4.8-encore-emmc+sd-v3.zip
select "choose zip from /storage/sdcard0" if you downloaded the file there
or
select "choose zip from /storage/sdcard1" if you downloaded the file there.
Hope this helps.

Can't see my post from this morning, so I will try to duplicate.
I am ALMOST back to normal. I panicked yesterday, thinking I had bricked my Nook. I ran a nook stock recovery zip (Probably the wrong install method) and ended up in "E0" for the "Normal Boot," with a CWM of 5.... I don't remember the numbers.
I installed CWM 6.048 as your instructions and it came up with two different versions for recovery(6.048) and alternate(6.012.)
I also installed cm 10.1 and at present:
My "emmc Recovery" is 6.048,the "emmc alt" is 6.012.
Don't mind losing the nook stock, since I don't like it.
Now! Can I install cm11 with the "emmc alt" at 6.012, and the "emmc recovery" at 6.048, or do Recovery and Alternate need to be the same?
I am afraid to try without any advice.

Your Nook Color is set up for dual booting. Is that what you wanted? CM11 can only be installed with 6.048 or higher recovery. So no, cm11 cannot be installed with 6.012. You will have to install cm10.1 with cwm 6.012 and install cm11 with cwm 6.048. Cm11 ROM is way larger than cm10.1 ROM. So you will lose cm10.1 as your main ROM.
To install cm11 choose one of the nightlies or m9 and install zip using the main recovery 6.048. Then install the gapps version I pointed to in my earlier post.
not dual boot

OK just ignore alt emmc. Download the nook color "encore" nightly of your choice or M9 to the sdcard, either sdcard0 or sdcard1. Download the gapps mentioned in earlier post to same place as cm11 zip. Just boot normal emmc recovery 6.048. Select install zip-choose zip from sdcard0 or sdcard1 depending on where you downloaded the zip files. Install cm11. Install gapps. Done.
cm11 not running right. back to cm 10.2

Hi,
I just picked up my tablet yesterday, but am unable to install the clockwork mod. I followed the instructions in the guide thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
It is not loading the clockwork mod. I see the "Detect a recovery key pressed", see a black screen with nothing but the word "android" and then I see a large warning triangle before the system boots into the normal interface.
Could this be due to a recent change in their firmware that is shipped? Could I be missing something here? I create the folder in my removable compact sd card and copy the recovery.zip file there.
Please help, I do not want this tablet if it is to stay in the stock state....
Found out why!
I didn't extract the zip file. I simply renamed it. Stupid stupid stupid....
I hope that if anyone else here had that issue they will see this.

I started making .rar files now, just to try to make that more clear. Don't worry, I've done the same thing and I created the zip file! :O
My files are usually like this because I need to put the recovery folder in there, for non-clockworkmod users.
I'm having the same problem, However I did extract the files correctly like stated and didn't rename anything. However, I still getting the screens like you described in your post. Any ideas?
What is it doing
Sent from my vsG with VEGAn-TAB-v1.0.0b4 using Tapatalk
update.zip should be in the root of the card...then in a folder called recovery should b a file called command

I am having the same issues. Running the TNT 3316 build. When trying to install the Google apps pr clockwork mod it says recovery key pressed then loading recovery kernel. then it loads a screen with a status bar and quickly reboots without changing any files. I rooted with z4 root and a sideloaded root explorer works and mounts system. any ideas?
I had the same problem and spent hours on it. Originally I used a 16gb microscope card and didn't work...then I switched to an 8gb and it worked...probably has to do with the micro SD card size. Also, press vol. Up fret followed by power and release power when viewsonic start screen comes on. Then release volume button when upper left sentence comes on
When I had the same problem it was due to recovery/command in the cwmod_v08.zip looking for update.zip at /sdcard2/ and I had copied the files over USB so they ended up at /sdcard/.
Another thing to try (I have had to do this occasionally when CW won't install), in the settings menu under the security tab, do a factory reset. It doesn't lose my settings but clears up whatever is keeping CW from installing. Once I do a factory reset then the install works flawlessly. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks

I'm having the same exact issue. 16GB SD card getting same results; can't get into clockwork mod, get recovery kernel instead. I don't know why it should have anything to do with size of SD card, but I'll try it since you had success. Thanks.

I'm using a 16gb sdcard and it works fine. Make sure when you unzip the clockwork 0.8 file that you place it on the root of the sdcard and make sure the command file in the recovery folder is pointing to the sdcard you want to use.....if the line in the command file is "SDCARD2" then either change it to "SDCARD" and use the internal sdcard card or use the external sdcard.
SDCARD
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
SDCARD2
/sdcard2/update.zip
/sdcard2/recovery/command
Make sure the command file is there. It deletes the first time you try to install
Thanks. That was totally the problem. Need to factory reset, because the settings that the gtablet is shipped with are not the default.
I am having a similar problem with not being able to install CWM on my gTablet.
I upgraded from bootloader 1.1 to 1.2 and I am currently running this (from About Tablet):
Model Number UPC300-2.2
Android OS version 2.2
Tap UI version 1.2-4349
Kernel version [email protected] #1
Build Number FRF91
I would like to flash the Flashback 10.1 ROM but for some reason I can't get ClockworkMod back.
After I do a nvflash I attempt to go into recovery. There I will see the stock recovery with only limited options.
I copied the CWM 0.8 recovery folder and upgrade.zip to the root of the sd card.
Then when I reboot into recovery I get " Recovery key detected" and "Booting recovery kernel image" It will just sit there like that.
So I tried to just flash the rom file as update.zip and I get back into the stock Android system recovery <e3>
Options:
System Reboot
Apply Internal update.zip
Apply external update.zip
Wipe Data/Factory reset
Wipe cahce partition
Calibrate Touch panel
below that I am now getting this:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk2
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD2:recovery/command
I am getting very confused :-(

i'm having a similar issue with trying to install cwm, bc1.3.1 update, flashback, etc, without nvflashing back to stock viewsonic rom....
just get the "booting recovery kernal image" line ad infinitum

I think I might have figured it out. I flashed the nvflash with this from here: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/nvflash.htm
nvflash with clockworkmod 1.2 branch.
Then I booted into that stock ROM
went to USB and deleted everything off the sdcard.
copied calkulin's format all and the flashback 10 ROM to sdcard
turned off device
booted into recovery, now CWM
flash calkulin's format all
flash ROM
Reboot
voila
hope this helps

I am so lost, I am reading and reading and can't figure out how to flash a new image to the Nook. What are the exact steps to putting CM 10.1 on it?
I followed this guide and it boots from SD Card into Cynagenmod swirling boot circle if I don't hold the Nook button then it just goes black and I can't do anything from there. If I try to SDC Boot it just black screens. I and boot INT and that is stock with ADW Launcher and Play Store.
I so want to flash a full Jelly Bean on this. Can someone step this idiot through doing that please?
This is development section. Your problem belongs to q&a,
nevertheless i will try to help you.
take this and put it in internal emmc (sdcard)
http://celticstorage.co.uk/cm10/CWM_v6.2.7_sgdisk_emmc.zip
then download your rom of choice and gapps and put them into the same place, preferable in root.
Find here a bootable to cwm sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640958
Use it to boot straight to cwm then flash cwm package into internal emmc. Remove ext-sdcard and reboot to internal recovery and fully wipe factory reset the nook.
Then flash rom+gapps
Reboot and enjoy.
To boot to internal cwm press N+Power button.

Thank you, I had finally figured it out but I couldn't get the nightly CM 10.1 to work. I went with and AOKP release (I had used it with ICS on the Kindle Fire at one time) and it actually worked. Was able to install the gapps also. I am now in the process of installing all my purchased apps from the Play Store.
This was way more difficult than the Kindle Fire to root and install a custom ROM but I should have it now.
Hi. I am trying to flash Cyanfox 2.0.2 for my s2. The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to find my zips. I've tried putting the rom and the gapps zip in both the /sdcard0 (internal memory), /sdcard1 (ext. SD card) as well as in the root folder of my phone. The only folders showing up in CWM when choosing "Install zip from sdcard" are 0 and obb. It looks like I have no option to choose between /sdcard0 or /sdcard1 inside CWM.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks, but I don't wanna bother with updating CWM yet, if I can find another solution first. I haven't done done an update to CWM Recovery before, so I am clueless about that. Anyway, I found out today that one of the data pins inside the micro usb is broken, so I can't transfer using ADB.
Edit: I thought I finally had got it. I downloaded ROM Manager. I haven't done that before since I've had some problems using wi-fi on the unofficial CM11 ver I had (one of the reasons for why I'm updating). I selected "Install rom from sdcard" in rom manager, navigated to the rom, and chose to install. ROM Manager booted into recovery and showed the following error:
E:Can't open /data/media/CyanFox2.0.2.i9100.zip
(No such file or directory)

Which doesn't lead me anywhere, since it's basically the same problem that I had in the first place.
[Caveat emptor: adopt/follow this guide at your own risk].
[Important Note: this process is applicable for CM11 builds that still maintains two separate partitions for /data and /media – as the case with CM10.x and stock ROMs (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48612997#post48612997 for more info). If/when these two partitions get merged in some future CM11 builds (as being contemplated by our NT CM developers – see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560827&page=28) this installation process will not be valid for those future builds with merged /data+media partition].
The following is the process using SD-based recovery to install CM11 internally (i.e., on emmc) on a Nook Tablet running stock ROM. [If your NT is already running CM10.x, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670589 for a simpler process to update from CM10 to CM11]. This same process can also be used to install CM12.x -- see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64624390&postcount=21 for needed corresponding versions of CM12 ROM, Android 6.0 GApps, and EMMC-based CWM recovery.
Using a disk partition tool (such as MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition) create on SD card a Primary FAT32 partition, and set the partition ID type for the partition to 0x0C FAT32 LBA and set its Active flag. Once this is done, the partition should appear as a (read/write accessible) drive under Windows
Obtain and copy to the SD card the following files:
first MLO, then next u-boot.bin and flashing_boot.img in succulent_boot.zip obtained from https://www.mediafire.com/folder/xjwc1a482a6ll/Nook_Tablet
TWRP (TeamWin Recovery Project) version 2.6.3.0 or later, e.g., openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-acclaim-sdcard.img from http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/acclaim, rename it to recovery.img before copying to SD card.
the flashable_CWM_6.0.4.5_chrmhoffmann.zip zip file from https://www.mediafire.com/folder/xjwc1a482a6ll/Nook_Tablet which contains the CWM recovery v0.2 provided by Chris Hoffmann (in the first post of the XDA Official CM11 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560827).
the zip file of CM11 ROM build of your choice from http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=acclaim (see http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/cm-11-m4-post-release-items for considerations in choosing nightlies vs. snapshot/stable builds).
the zip file of the Gapps package corresponding to CM11 – e.g., from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Put the SD card into the NT, and boot from its power off by inserting a powered USB cable. Press and hold the N button as soon as CyanoBoot comes up to get the boot menu to display.
Select SDC Recovery.
[Optional step but highly recommended] Select Backup to backup your NT current ROM config (/boot, /recovery, /system, and /data).
Select Wipe data & factory reset.
Select install zip from SD card and install flashable CWM recovery zip file.
Select install zip from SD card and install CM11 zip file.
Select install zip from SD card and install Gapps zip file.
Remove SD card and select reboot.
Once the NT boots up, set up the wifi connectivity and your google account info. If you had previously used Google backup service on your NT your apps will be auto-downloaded (but their settings will not be auto-restored).
Notes
If the Nook fails to boot off SD -- the two most common symptoms of failed SD boot and their likely causes are:
The NT boots straight to stock -- most likely the boot partition's type and/or flag are not correctly set, or the NT cannot find the MLO in the boot partition (make sure that MLO is the very first file to be copied to the freshly made /boot partition).
The NT screen stays dark for seemingly a long time then eventually boots to stock -- most likely the MLO or u-boot.bin are corrupted. When in doubt, compare the size of the two copies of the files in bytes.
Installing CM11 ROM and Gapps will override your NT's current boot, recovery, ROM, and Apps, so make sure that you backup all this stuff using recovery backup function, for easy in reverting to previous ROM if desired. See my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48612997#post48612997 for more "Info and Tips for Mitigating Risks in Rooting and Flashing Custom-ROM".
Also, I would advise against using any other functions of the recovery without first carefully researching to understand what they really do.
My thanks to all the developers who collective work created the wonderful CM11 ROM for the NT as well as the tools and info I made use of to install it.

Which version of SD based recovery did you use?
Also, you might want to consider to first flash CM10.x (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51377882&postcount=163) then later update to CM11.

Thanks. An youtube video helped me out in the end: watch?v=3YYXtGAt6GY
What did I do differently this time? After installed openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-acclaim-sdcard.img onto emmc, I rebooted NT without a SD card. The TWRP boot menu came up. I put the SD card back in. The SD card has CM11 and Gapps zip files. I then selected internal EMMC recovery (that is the key I think):
factory reset
install cm-11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-acclaim.zip
install pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.2-20140321a-signed.zip
Now I have Android 4.4.2 running on my NT.

The TWRP openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-acclaim-sdcard.img is for SD card, the corresponding version for emmc openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-acclaim.img.

I did the same as you and get stuck at the CM boot screen. Tried 2x reflashing and keep getting stuck at the CM boot screen with the spinning arrow.
nm, 3rd time was the charm for some reason . Going through setup now, thanks!

How long did you wait for the first-time boot to complete?
FWIW successful first-time boot typically takes 3 to 4 min.

I waited around 15 minutes the first two times. I could tell it was doing something different the 3rd time as the swirling arrow would stop briefly as it presumably loaded things while the first two times it just swirled non-stop.
Great procedures

Your procedures worked out great. I've managed to take a stock Nook Table and have it running KitKat 4.4.4 in 3 day. The 1st 2 days I had only managed to root it and play around a bit. Thanks to every ones great work I'm up and running. 1st boot was a bit interesting as I renamed openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-acclaim-sdcard.img to recovery.img.img but after review the SD Card / rebuilding there were no more issues. it it booted and worked great. Thanks again ===
I ran into a problem and am hoping for a hand. My NT boots perfectly form the SD card and loads up the recovery screen while following the instructions, I made a backup, but when I go to do the data wipe and factory reset or start to install the CWM file I get an error of "E: Unable to mount '/BootData' ".
I have tried starting over by resetting up the Nook and registering it again, but same thing. If I pull out the SD card it boots right up into use as a standard NT ready to register and go.
I am going to try again starting over and with a different version of TWRP just in case that is the issue.
Thanks for the help!

Did you try TWRP v2.6.3.0 (openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-acclaim-sdcard.img at http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/acclaim)?
Working
Thanks for the help. Along the way I did get it working on the night of 11/10, I just forgot to post that . 9th try is the charm I guess? In any case I tried first with TWRP 2.8.1.0 and then went back to 2.6.3.1 and then on my last attempt tried again with 2.8.1.0 and it worked so I have a NT running the last monthly of 11 and so far no issues. The sad news is that I have no idea what I did different to make it work the final time vs the first couple of try's.
YES YES YES!! It works! I've been struggling for more weeks than I care to admit to install CM 12. I've followed nearly every tutorial I can find and pursued WAY too many paths (bootable SD, fastboot, root) and couldn't get anything to work. Probably my very minimal knowledge of this subject is the culprit, but I've done a ton of research. Finally I decided to give CM 11 a shot and found this post. What a life saver!! Thank you everyone for your contributions to make this possible even for laymen like me!
FWIW, I couldn't get it to work with the "flashable_TWRP_2.6.3.1.zip" included in the mediafire folder provided by digixmax. I deleted that from the SD, downloaded 2.6.3.1 from the TWRP website (note: SD version) and it worked! I also tried the non-SD version of TWRP 2.6.3.1 and it didn't work...required the SD version to work. You guys rock!

You need to use the SD version of CWM or TWRP to flash CM from SD.
flashable_TWRP_2.6.3.1.zip is a flashable zip to flash and install TWRP itself into EMMC.
So if I download the most recent TWRP and CM 12.1 zip, could I simply replace the 2 older TWRP and CM 11 files on my SD? Would that actually work to get 12.1? It seems like the other files are only related to the bootloader and should be universal to work with any recovery and CM zip. Somehow I doubt it's that easy..

The function of the 2 files MLO and u-boot.bin is to boot the NT and load CyanoBoot (the 3rd file flashing_boot.img) which in turns would enable you to select and load the recovery.img file on the SD card; hence they should be invariant of the CM version you want to flash.
All you need is a copy of SD-based (TWRP) recovery.img version that is compatible with CM12.x and the GApps package.
Wow, it worked with 12.1! I have stumbled upon THE thread that finally helped me get this to work. Countless dead ends and I finally found it.
I took the plunge and tried installing cm12.1. Per post #1 in this thread, I used the same flashing_boot.img, MLO, and u-boot.bin that's in digixmax's mediafire folder. Also used the same flashable_CWM_6.0.4.8_chrmhoffmann.zip per post #1.
The files that are different from post #1 in this thread are: the most recent CM12.1 release (as of tonight: cm-12.1-20151117-SNAPSHOT-YOG7DAO1K6-acclaim.zip), the most recent TWRP for SD (as of tonight: twrp-2.8.6.0-acclaim-sdcard.img; renamed to recovery.img before copying to SD as suggested) and a compatible gapps version. A little google searching led me to the pico gapps from TKruzze that I got from post #1 of this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tk-gapps-t3116347). I downloaded this from the BasketBuild link under "Proper DPI Play Services" of the Pico Modular Package in post #1 of that link I just mentioned. I followed the same directions that were in post #1 of this thread that originally gave me success with CM11, and sure enough it all worked great with CM12.1. I'm now running CM12.1 and couldn't be happier.
A HUGE THANK YOU to digixmax and everyone else who contributed to the creation of these seemingly universal files (e.g., flashing_boot.img, MLO, u-boot.bin, etc.) to enable this to work. And of course a THANK YOU to the CWM, TWRP and CM developers. Seriously, you guys rock.
can someone check if my files are correct? especially the first 3 since I cant boot from SD no matter how many time I reformat, redownload, recopy....

Did you boot from power-off by inserting a powered USB cable?
Also, make sure that MLO is the very first file you copy to the freshly reformatted, empty SD card.
This is my first attempt at rooting and flashing a Nook Tablet. I have an 8GB version 1.4.2 Tablet that I've been trying to flash since 9pm last night. I have 3 different SD cards that I've tried in various combinations across using a guide from Sal Yanez on pureandorid with no luck. I'll outline the steps below in how i've tried to do so...
1) Downloaded and burned the NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile.img to an SD card using Win32DiskImager. The partition comes out to 70MB and I then insert it into my powered off NT.
2) Insert the USB cable into the NT and then into my PC which causes it to boot to CWM recovery (version 5.05.5 i believe.)
3) I select "install zip from SD card" and select the Root_8gb-or-16gb-NTV4_7.zip rom. After it has installed, I unplug the cable and select reboot.
4) The reflashed rom boots and I can access a pseudo-version of android with ADW launcher by pressing the 'n' hardkey. From here, I can access the android apps list menu and select ES File Explorer to install the Nook Recovery Flasher apk.
5) With that installed, I select "Flash CWM Recovery" and wait for it to say it's completed, then select "Reboot to Recovery" after ejecting my SD card.
6) I then copy a CWM recovery zip and a CM rom zip to a second SD card. The combinations i've tried are further below...
7) After rebooting into recovery, I insert the second SD card into the NT and then select "install zip from SD card" and select the CWM recovery file. Once it's installed, I reboot again.
8) After booting and getting back to the ADW launcher, I navigated back to Nook Flasher app and select "Reboot to Recovery"
9) After rebooting into recovery again, I now select "wipe data/factory reset" and then "wipe cache partition" before selecting "install from SD card" and selecting the CM rom file.
10) In all cases, i'll get one of two errors, either i get a status 7 error (presumably because my CWM version isn't compatible with the CM rom file) or it begins to install before the screen flashes white a few times, then tries to reboot and gets stuck at the "read forever" screen. I usually wait about a minute or so before powering it down and then restoring back to stock v1.4.2 via a bootable image i have on a third SD card.
Here are the combinations i've tried (CWM 6.0.2.7 + CM 10.2.1, CWM 6.0.2.7 + CM 10.1.1, CWM 6.0.2.7 + CM 10.1.3, CWM 6.0.4.3 + CM 10.2.1, CWM 6.0.4.3 + CM11 snapshot 11/24/2014, CWM 6.0.4.3 + CM11 nightly 1/5/2015)
So my ultimate question is this, am i just an idiot and I just need to wait longer in step 10? I've felt like i've waited upwards of 3 or 4 minutes, but as it was getting late last night, it might've been shorter and just seemed like I waited that long. Is there some issue with getting CM10 or 11 on the 8GB NT? I've read a thread which stated the 8GB does not play well with CM but i've also seen contradictory information from those who've gotten it to flash successfully. Could it be that the stock v1.4.2 needs to be updated to v1.4.3 first before trying to do the above steps?
Any help is very much appreciated as I've spent several hours now trying to do something that seemed to be fairly straightforward and should've been a 30 min job at the most.
If you are aiming to install a custom ROM like CM to replace stock ROM on EMMC, there is no need to first root the stock ROM with your steps 1-4, as it's going to be totally replaced with the custom ROM. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575489 for background info.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51377882&postcount=163 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692403 respectively for how to flash CM10 and CM11 on your NT EMMC.
Thanks for the assistance Digimax, I was finally able to get CM11 successfully flashed by burning a bootable SD image from succulent's blog onto an SD card, and then copying the other files from the guide you linked to onto the nook's emmc. Once booted into the TWRP recovery from card, I wiped and then flashed CWMchrmhoffman, CM11, and gapps all in queue, and that seemed to do the trick! Very pleased with the result and finally relieved to move onto other things after several hours of frustration. Thanks again! :highfive:
