Recommended portable battery charger? - Nexus 6 Accessories

I am going to get a nexus 6 and 9 and I am looking for a good big dual USB portable battery charger. Anyone who could recommend me one?
Thanks!

there is HUGE market for these. alot of the high capacity ones are a scam however. it depends on what size you are looking for but this one i believe is pretty much considered the best in a capacity/value/reliability standpoint. I own one myself and it has a huge amount of power.. but its heavier then you will expect lol. it also dropped like $16 since i bought it. but i would reccomend looking around online for a few days and read reviews before you buy one.

.

Anker has proven to be a damn good brand for portable chargers. As someone with a Nexus 4 it becomes a requirement when doing things such as playing Ingress or using Google Maps.
Not saying the Nexus 6 will be plagued with the same battery issues (in fact this seems to be the first time we saw a proper battery for a Nexus device, plus with 5.0/Volta we might be seeing more stability in battery life) but in any case I have had no issues with my chargers from Anker.

This site does pretty good real world analysis of stuff like that. Here's their review of USB backup batteries...
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-usb-battery-pack-travel/
I usually do my own research then check in to see what their take is on certain items and the things that make my short list usually end up in their short list too. If their arguement is convincing for their top pick i usually go along with that.
With that said, I'm ordering the recommended battery.

Thank you all for your answers!
I asked the same question on reddit. Seems like the most people recommending a Anker one. So I think I will get me one of those

Anker has great batteries. I still have my 9000mah battery from over a year ago. It's still running strong which is great.

I'm actually in the process of flying to California and I'm stuck due to delays so the battery is really coming in handy.

I don't mind I've just been playing games on the G3 because I have a 9000mah backup to charge it

I love this one. It's slim, not too heavy and charges at a good rate.

50 000 mah's it says. I am not sure if its that high under a load but the packs can go for a long time betwixt charges.
that said, i have three of these. I have 4 dashcams in my SUV and two of them run off these battery packs. i can go 2 days 24/7 recording using a DOME G90 A70 (ambarella A7 chip -- used in the gopro hero 3).
less than 20 bucks.
same cells Anker uses. the distributor i purchased from is in LA so super fast shipping. these same packs are on amazon under different names.
please dont get caught up in brand names. these packs i have had for several months and they are/have been solid performers. they don't mind a little LA heat either.
just another option. my real world experience with these for several months using dahcams, plus my one max, gopro (it can charge the gopro) and moto xoom, tells me this pack will go well with the nex 6 and 9.
i keep one of these (50 000 mah) in my gopro pelican case kit at ALL times.

i have one of these suckers, mine claimed 30000mah lol. I feel that is more around the amount, i can get around 2 fills of my note 3 battery while the phone is on. It has lasted for almost 1.5 years which is awesome

You won't be disappointed with Anker. I own 10000 mAH second gen for almost 2 years. It is still very strong and deliver as promised.

Flux Portable battery charger
The tech market is flooding with a variety of portable chargers each which varies with its size, design, battery capacities, and more such things. I owe a flux portable charger and I also suggest you should go for it as it will enable you to charge not only your Nexus 6 or 9 but also your other smart gadgets.

Anker is a good name for Accessories maker. Considering a quality and performance, Anker is reasonable in price. I've recently bought a 20,000 mAh Anker power bank from Amazon, and I used it a lot and loved it.

Review / Report on Cameron Sino Extended Batteries (3000mAh)

The seller seems to have a decent rating and everybody that bought this battery from him for the Hermes seems to have left positive feedback. From what I saw, there are over 20 people who bought this battery from him and nobody seems to be unhappy from their comments. I tried emailing a few of the buyers to get their comments on it, but eBay doesn't allow you to contact more than 1 person in a day.
Some of the complaints I've seen here on the forums about Cameron Sino batteries.
1) The battery status on the phone is always stuck at 100% with this battery
2) Some of them would not charge at all
3) The battery would hardly last a day on a full charge and was only slightly better than the OEM 1350mah battery.
4) The battey door cover is poor quality and is not an exact fit.
At $25.00 with free international shipping, it's a steal and I don't want to be plonking down $80.00 for a Mugen battery considering I might be getting the Kaiser soon.
Any opinions or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
EDIT - PS. I did finally buy the same Cameron Sino Battery. You can follow my review and reports about the battery here. (Same Thread - Post 21 onwards)
Well,
I bought me this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ext-2800mAh-Bat...ryZ15034QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It lasts for several days even if using WLAN & BT. Batery status and charging works properly - except charging the battery entirely takes much longer! Now, this is normal with that capacy!
The back door fits exactly! There is a tiny color difference - the back door is a little bit brighter than phone but that does not really bother! In fact you only will notice this the first few times that there is a slight difference!
I bought before from the same seller as well when I still had a MDA VARIO. Made good experiences. The battery I bought now is really working very well, the included backdoor makes sense and getting an additional free wall charger + car charger can't be bad either!
Hope that helps?
If you don't mind me asking... how long ago did you get this for your Hermes?
I have an Orange SPV M3100 with a dark Grey - Black Door. Is there any battery that comes with a back door in that color or even close?
Again thanks for your response.
I have this battery now for more than 3 months. The 2 batteries I bought for my WIZARDS I had over 3 years in use.
I took some pictures to let you see the color difference and that it really does not bother much. If you PM me your email address I can send them to you - they are too large to attach here, sorry!
BUMP... anybody?
does anyone make a case that will fit this extended battery?
I just picked up a 3000mAh battery for my Tytn. Edit to add link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150167782211&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=005 (was kinda pissed as it was shipped from Hong Kong rather than Vancouver) Using TomTom Navigator for hours on end and well as constantly playing MP3s when I can. Plus all the other stuff I do with my phone I was killing a fully charged battery in under 12hrs.
With this new 3000mAh battery I can actually miss a nightly charge and still be good. The charge indicator seems to work properly. I did notice that when it starts to go below 50% it drops fast, however I can go almost an entire day of use and not get below 80%.
The good Battery lasts MUCH MUCH longer than the 1350 that was in it.
The Bad
Weight, it makes an already bulky phone feel twice as bad. Especially if you holding it in your hand talking for more than 15 or 20mins at a shot.
Bulk. It no longer fits correctly in the HTC Branded case that came with my phone. I can stuff it in there and it will close but not nearly as well as it did before.
Backplate. Although a great fit and just as strong as the OEM backplate. The colour is wrong for me. I have the lightgrey almost a slight metallic blue ting to it, and the backplate they sent me was a dark metallic Grey.
As soon as I find out where I left my old digital camera I will take some pics of it and post it up.
Final Impressions.
If you are a busy body that really puts a strain on your phone and can't be bothered carrying a travel charger with you. The Extended Battery is a great investment.
However
If your phone is in your pocket more than in your hand, and can remember to charge it at night then the slim OEM battery is probably good enough.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about! When I received my battery the back door was a dark silver one but my 8525 is graphit! However, it does not look to bad either considering that I do not sit and watch the back of my phone!
I uploaded some pictures here: <link no longer exists>
There is also a link to an eBay auction of that battery on that page. In case the auction is ended already you will find it again in the seller's store or by performing a search on eBay with tha auction title.
Sure,
the phone's weight is a bit more but considering that I can use my Hermes for at least 3 days or more it was woth the US$9.99 I've spent! Lucky me, I was the only one bidder on that item!
The battery door fits exactly, nothing moves nor shakes! Battery status works perfect!
After seeing your pics I REALLY need to post up my pics. Because You have the backplate that looks to be exactly like my phone and I have the backplate that looks to much match your phone. Would you be up for a trade? Once I post up the pics and you can verify the colour and like new condition of my backplate.

Finally ordered the Cameron Sino 3000mah battery. It should be here in a week. I'll post a review once it gets here.
I did not even realize it until I started taking close up pics of the battery and back cover. It is a Cameron Sino battery.
Here are the pics
I have shrunk the pics down to 640x480 if you want to see a higher Go to www.captfiero.com/cellphonebattery/master
LOL... if only you had posted these pictures or had figured out you had a Cameron Sino battery a week ago... I would have had my battery by now with no need for further research
Thanks Capt. Fiero.... feel a lot better about my purchase now that I know there are other TyTN users with the same battery... minus any of the problems I had outlined.
Great Pics... fantastic zoom quality.... what camera are you using?
The Camera is a rather cheap camera, but dang it, it takes the best Macro shots of any camera I have looked at. Better than some $1000+ units. Its not great for distance or low light, but I will be keeping it for a long time to use for inside taking small high res shots of stuff.
Its a Fuji FinePix E500 4.1mp with a Macro Zoom feature.
I need help to buy this battery with 3000 mAh.
I am from Serbia in Europe and don't have here e-bay.
Can somebody who can to buy it to send me it with post-express.
I will pay!Please!
The guy I bought it from ships to any location in the world.
Check his website http://www.megacapacity.com
It's only about a dollar or two more expensive than it is on ebay.
Hmmm... I have a Cameron Sino 3000mah battery on my Dopod 838 and I only seem to get about 11-12 hours out of it. Most of the time it's in standby, and with wifi off with only bluetooth always on.
Is this normal? I've always thought that the battery life sucked, but just thought it may have been normal...
How long does it take to charge the 3000mAH battery to full capacity?

hyperion 2600mAh galaxy note battery? proved it's fake

hi bodies,
i purchased a Hyperion Samsung Galaxy Note from amazon a week ago, which someone recommended in this forum. it's mark 2600mAh on the back of the battery, so, should be last a little longer than my stock 2500mAh right? but after a few cycles, i feel strange it looks like last only half as long as my stock battery.
i teared off the label whether this battery is good or not, see what i found, there is some code LS514664AR 1750MAH. 2011/12/19.
accoding to my mechanical engineering experience, LS514664AR is the serial number of battery cell, and 2011/12/19 must be the date of manufacture, and 1750MAH is the real capacity of the cell, which means this battery is 1750mAh.
much more less than the 2600mah they marked, and also the 2500mAh original.
i was so disappointed with this company, they made poor products for us, and cheat us more over! i will never trust this company again, anyone else have their batteries? just tear off the label, you can see what you get.
my attachments below
nice find, thanks... never trusting non-oem batteries again
You shouldn't trust any battery, even one that says OEM, from Ebay or Amazon. Especially when they are charging $10 for what should be a $25 battery. When I see that I always order 2 because I know they are fake and will not last as long.
I got two of those Hyperion batteries and a wall charger off eBay for $25 shipped. Even if they are 1750mah, they won't damage the Note they just wont last as long. After SEVERAL cycles they are lasting me 4-5hrs of steady use, which for $25 is worth the money for an emergency backup(s).

I agree 100%. People are foolishly buying these cheap batteries thinking they are getting a great deal but what they are getting is cheap counterfeit battery that doesn't perform as well as the original and could do damage to the phone.
Be smart people, pay the extra money and buy your batteries at legitimate vendors, your mobile provider or Samsung directly. If one of these cheap batteries happen to explode and leak all over your phone you can kiss you warranty goodbye.
The OP should write a negative review of the product on Amazon and post pictures of the counterfeit battery backing his claim.
Arent people just asking too much? If they dont mark it high enoigh will u buy? And if there are no non-oem companies around, will u complain oem charging 30 bucks for same capacity battery? Though i agree company shouldnt mark high, but at the same time these companies.need.to be around to keep cost down. Else oem charging $100 for battery is justifiable (like apple!)
I have a 5000mah hyperion battery for my galaxy note, and I ripped off the label and it says "1500mah" directly on the battery... further peeling of the sticker shows what appears to be 3x1500mah batteries under the shell.. so 4500mah on a 5000mah advertised battery.
I'll post pictures later but it says:

I also purchased the Hyperion battery pack, and the only problem i have had with it, is that the charger broke 2 weeks after i got it. it's two inside, if you compare the thickness of your OEM battery, you will find hyperion 5000mAh seems doubled, which means 2*1500mAh=3000mAh.

Yes the Hyperion battery is just one of many batteries with exaggerated claims.. Its lower than claimed capacity became clear to me when I compared its gram mass to the OEM, and it was 10 grams less... Thanks for sharing your tear down finding... I am hoping to to build a data set to calibrated the general capacity and battery mass... Given the generic chemistries and similar constrained volumes they all share in the note.

you guys think this is a gimmick? http://www.ebay.com/itm/5200mah-Ext...ccessories&hash=item4cfeb50af4#ht_2436wt_1161
I don't usually buy cheap stuff... but if there are three 1500mah batteries, or even two 2500mah's underneath that label im sure it would still last...
what you think?
just got my anker 2500, so amazing with this battery, after 2 full cycles, my BMW pro shows it's 2656mAh, even more than what is marked on the battery. I can say it definitely last longer than my stock one, which improved the BMW pro.

Question, did you buy your battery directly from Hyperion, or some third party vendor?
Reason I ask, is since someone has mentioned, and I've also have seen it suggested on some youtube videos, that because it has some slight name brand popularity as an inexpensive alternative, third party vendors could make even cheaper copies/knockoffs.. To get more sales?
I would be more weary and ready to warn about the vendor you ordered from. This is just a suggestion, for all we know the actual Hyperion battery manufacturer maybe the culprit. IMHO YMMV

I wonder if there are two of those 1500 in that...
I found some vendors on ebay selling what seems are legit "Samsung" branded batteries. Check this picture out;
Made in Japan / Finished in Korea, except that in spanish on the third line, it translates to Made in Korea / Mounted in Korea... Oops..

(Review) 12000mAh Portable Power Bank Battery

Weighs at only 8.9oz, it pack's 12,000 mAh battery in a small package, enough to charge your mobile phones and more. Perfect for everyday use, longer trips and emergency situations.
Features:
Highest quality Li-Pol battery with capacity of 12,000mAh (LTE battery is rated as ~2,000mAh)
Dual USB outputs to charger 2 devices at the same time
Give your smartphone up to 95 hours of extra talk, internet, and video time, so you can truly enjoy what your phone can offer
2.1A output to charge your lte or tablet efficiently
Compatible with all cell phones with micro USB connection, such as Blackberry, HTC, Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc.
the battery comes with a number of different tips. This ensures that it is as universal as possible. In addition to a wall adapter and a cable for charging the battery the system includes tips for Sony PSP, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, miniUSB, microUSB and, of course, Apple mobile devices. Last year this nice array of tips would have been important. Yes, we’ve all become a bit boring with regard to what we actually carry day in and day out, but something tells me this won’t last for long. I’m not sure what new device will woo each of us, but I have no doubt there will be something.
Input:
DC 5V/1A
Output: USB1: DC 5V/1A; USB2: DC 5V/2.1A
Battery capacity: 12,000 mAh
Dimension: 5″ x 3″ x 0.92″ (127mm x 76mm x 23mm)
Weight: 8.9oz (250gram)
this battery is a beast. It has a huge charge capacity and yet it is fairly compact and light. It is also simple to use. There is one button on the top that, when depressed, shows you how much charge is available and begins the flow of current.
On one end you will see the microUSB charging port that will make sure the battery is up to a long, grueling day of use. To the left of it is a 1A USB port. This will charge your lte as ac. On the other side is the 2A USB this charges as a dc current.
And, of course, the battery can be used as a flashlight. The first time I saw an external battery with this feature I was like “Why?” Then I actually started using it and discovered that it comes in rather handy. The light on this one is bright. That, combined with the capacity a fully charged Power Bank will offer would likely mean this light could be turned on at the start of CES 2012 and still be going when it comes time for CES 2013. (Okay not so much, but you get the point.)
This Power Bank 12,000 mAh Battery is a huge battery in a small package. It is well made, feels quite sturdy, packs a punch and has pretty much all the tips you are going to need

Thanks for the great review man! I've been looking at other varieties of these on amazon, but the cost was just a bit too high. Can you link us to the ebay seller you got yours from?

Just an fyi, looks like the ebay seller OP mentioned is beginning to update the listing to $50 (which is more on par with most other battery packs in that mah range.
If you click on his auction lists, there are still some listed at ~ $25, gett'em while you can at that price.
Thanks again OP, just ordered mine.
It appears that while the black unit is now $53, the white one is only $23.55. Just ordered one.
Just bought one too and don't have any need for it at all but for 23 bucks why not

Received email from the seller that there are issues with their remaining stock of these. She said that a new shipment will be getting in on Oct 16, or she offered to send a different model (10,000mAh) and a $3 refund for the price difference. I'm opting to wait for the 12,000mAh battery. I'll let everyone know how this works out...

Ditto for me, I just wanted to add that the email was fairly apologetic and seemed genuinely interested in providing a quality product.
Also, all the listings are marked to ~$50 now. Glad we got in for half the price!
Ya there are other sellers. Just type in 12000 mAh battery bank on ebay. Here's another same one in black 25 bucks.

Hyperion 6400 mAh Extended Battery Note 3

Back when the Galaxy S4 came out I was able to use the Hyperion 5200mAh battery and was my first time using an extended battery for a phone. The experience was pretty good and I was anxious to see how the Note 3 version would perform. Again I was rather impressed. The battery is double the battery life and physical size of the Samsung stock battery, which is a 3200mAh battery. First off Hyperion includes a hard plastic backplate to accompany the battery. The backplate + battery really doesn’t add much more bulk than if a case was installed. Speaking of a case, the GS4 model has the option of a $10 TPU case to purchase if you want extra protection. I really like the idea of having the edges and front of the Note 3 protected.
The backplate is smooth with a glossy finish which makes the whole thing pocketable, making it really easy to slide in and out of a pocket (including skinny jeans). The backplate does attract fingerprints and at times because the device is so large makes me nervous about slipping out of hands. I will point out I have not dropped the phone at all. Battery life! Let’s talk about the juicy details about battery life. But just before we get into the stats let me give some battery lifestyle. I consider myself a heavy user meaning I am on my phone frequently using apps such as YouTube, social networking, file transfers and other various apps that contribute to battery drainage. Screen time is the biggest contributor to battery drain, which my because of my heavy usage, my screen is on quite a bit. Other factors that lead to my battery drain is I have many auto push notifications, WiFi is only used half of the time leaving my Verizon 4G LTE data on, my screen brightness is at 100% most of the time and I use some of the sweet air gestures and smart view features.
With all that said, we can get into the stats of how the battery performed for the first cycle of charge. It is recommended to go through 3-5 cycles to get the final results. For this review I have only done one cycle. I drained the battery to about 15% to give you the results.
1 day 11 hours 17 minutes 57 seconds on battery
6 hours 8 minutes 58 seconds screen time
Top three data usage apps – YouTube, Amazon Kindle and Instagram
How fast do you think it charges with the new 3.0 USB? I put the phone of the charger at 11AM and it reached 100% at 2:39PM. Mind you that it takes more time to charge this battery compared to the Samsung 3200mAh because it is literally half more battery. Thus, charge time is half more longer than the stock battery.
Now that the stats are out of the way I can confidently say I like the performance. Getting a day and a half of battery life is simply great considering all the factors mentioned above. I will be continuing to use the battery for at least another two cycles to see if any results improve. SO stay tuned for a follow up post/video giving you the results after two more cycles have passed.
There are only a few downsides to this setup I have come across, which fall more along with the preference and will vary with opinions. The added bulk tended to get on my nerves a little bit. I like a thin device and the Note 3 is already a large device. Granted this battery and backplate are thin for what the product is, it still adds some extra love. NFC is not too much of a deal breaker for me, because in the past I have not really used NFC all that much. However, I plan to install my TYLT car mount which has NFC built in AND still help up my Zero Lemon monster battery for my Galaxy S4. Anyways, I want to use the TYLT Capio for some of the NFC features, but I might have to sacrifice NFC for the battery life for a while. I’ve gone this long without NFC I can keep the trend going for a little while longer.
At the time when I got this pack there was not a TPU case available and my front of the Note 3 is fully exposed along with the edges, which I do not like. I feel so much more comfortable with a case on my phone. The added weight, somewhat slick back and kids all enhance the chances of an accident happening. So hopefully a case will be added soon. Other than those minor issues, this is a stellar battery so far. If you are not a heavy user as I am, this battery has the potential to last you much much longer than it did for me.

Just what I need, to make this phone even bigger! Stock battery life sure seems ample to me. If I need to double the battery life, could be I'm spending a little too much time staring at a phone.

Yeah because everyone who isn't exactly like you must be a freak worth insulting right? I'm sure the world would be a much better place if everyone was just as perfect as you.
Whilst I find the note about as tall and wide as I would like a phone I would actually prefer it as little deeper. A longer battery life would be nice as I found it doesn't last through s long day without recharging so an extended battery seems ideal in my circumstances, and seemingly others as well. It won't be that way for everyone but I don't feel compelled to berate those with different needs. Perhaps it's about time we have a NPD awareness day!
I'm just waiting on the zero lemon 10k before I make a final choice.
I just ordered mine today. Any idea if there is a case with a kick stand that would fit this battery? Maybe modify some of dual layer cases.

it'll be nice to be able to use this with wireless chargers/pads/receivers
hmm. do they have other casings?
I tried extended batteries long ago. I've settled for having two standard batteries, just in case. But with the battery life from the Note 2 and I'm certain the Note 3 I normally don't need the second battery. On the occasion I have a quick switch is no issues. I'm just sure not to wait till my battery reaches crucial levels before doing the switch.
But I understand others may have needs for a monster battery.
I personally like not having to worry about the battery. I had the hyperion and zero lemon for my note 2. The hyperion was the one I used everyday since I would do Spotify from 8 am to 7 pm . Then I use the zerolemon when we would go camping over the weekend.

Do you use your phone as heavy as I described as how I use my device? I also purposefully drained the battery during the last quarter of it's life. If I wanted to I could make this last two days easy. I use no battery saving methods whatsoever. I have my phone pretty much full blast.

Call me crazy but I actually prefer the extra heft. It feels less like a fragile toy in my hand and more like a military tool. The battery life is just insane, I never have to worry about it anymore whereas before I had to constantly worry about it.

There few reasons as for why.
For me, I enjoy superior battery life - tweaked my bricked Note manages two days of constant screen on times - mostly with google maps in navigation mode and either some movie on other window or audiobook/music in background. That's when I don't feel like experimenting and am not running above mentioned apps with Lapse it and some or the other loger of multiple sensors build into this device.
I also enjoy fact that ZeroLemon made case for this battery a really sturdy thing - and clip-on-belt screen protector/stand is also a welcome addition.
As for external power suplies - I have two Anker Pro 14mAh powerbanks, of which one is always in my bag. I usually tinker with software on my phone and as a result of that ended few times with empty battery around noon. And because of nice coincidence, both ZL battery case and said powerbank are almost same size...so I ducttape them both for some Back to the future III feelings.
Now, it's not for everyone. Most people don't really need as much battery life as I use <that's 2x 14mAh in Anker plus 4mAh of emergency little pack and ZL 10k backpack for phone itself...that's actually more than my Alienware laptop is equipped with!> but it's nice to have option. Plus, I was using original Note with Mugen battery and can't really use my phone without decent powerpak in it.

I ordered the ZL 10000mah battery and ZeroShock case for my new NoteIII days ago. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival so I can enjoy the added weight to the phone. I love the size, but it's simply to light for me and my hands. I have the ZL battery/case combo on my SIII and love it. I tried several batteries before the ZL battery and would never bother ordering anything else again.

you can get wireless charging to work with this case? or am I reading your auto-sig wrong?
Yes, but when you use an extended battery and large case like Zerolemon's, you cannot use the typical receiver pads made for the NoteIII or SIII or whatever.
I purchased a DigiYes *universal receiver pad (wide side down, narrow side up plug) from amazon. It has a 2-3" ribbon cable attached to the pad to plug into your phones micro-usb port. You then wrap it under the bottom of the phone, then slide your case over it. Even with the TPU shell and battery door of the case on top of the receiver, I still connect to my charger pad (Lugu Lake Wireless Pad) without a hitch.
DigiYes Receiver Pad - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HI8JYFE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Lugu Lake Charger Pad -http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FXJAISW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can no longer use the usb port for data transfer, sync, etc...
It was worth it in my case, as I became used to wireless charging and never connect my phone to any other source unless it's a bluetooth connection. Also, I never need to charge my phone frantically because of the huge battery capacity.
Hope this helps.
I'm ready to try this bad boy out. I had the zerolemon battery on my s3 and got 2 days out of it. I can't wait to see what I can get out of this.
