Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks for the help on the forum on upgrading the htc 6800 to 6.1 and unlocking the GPS. I have come into a couple problems with the phone and can't seem to find the solution. If anyone knows a solution please let me know. First, I have the time settings set to Eastern US which is the time zone that I am in. However whenever messages come in, they are displayed as being 4 hours ahead. I don't know why this happens. I also have a problem with the built in GPS. It takes very long to lock a signal and it keeps catching and dropping the satellite signals; is the GPS module just weak? I live in Ottawa Canada. Thanks for the help in advance.
Cheers,
Andrew
Standalone gps is typically slow but it should work well. I would just recheck all your gps settings. Don't know about the time zone issue.
Thanks for a reply.
Ic. I am only catching about 5-7 satellites but its weak. I have the settings set to com4 and rate to 4800. It still works but takes forever. Maybe there is extra software i need to install; i haven't found anything yet. As for the time zone, it is getting very annoying. Message times are all off 4 hours
5-7 satellites are typical numbers. You could try quickgps which might help looks some. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1862269&postcount=2
Try to reflash the rom to fix the time zone problem.
K thanks i will look into it. One a seperate note, I am trying to change my phone number to another area code but I can't get to the screen. I reflashed the rom but no luck. I tried ##778 and ##564848 and it seems to load another screen with ESPT and then it closes and stays on the dial page. Any ideas? I need to change the number fast and the phone doesn't work right now. Bell has the new number in the system, i just need to change it now on the phone itself. Thanks again all.
Cheers,

Did you try ##778#?
Yes i tried that. I tried ##564848# as well. It just starts dialing to bell and bell tells me to contact them. I need to remove the # at the end for the phone to try to at least open the settings page. I changed the number at a third party vendor called wireless wave, but they couldn't get into the settings page on the phone. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. This is my primary phone.
Cheers,
Andrew
Try downloading the Phone Codes program from this thread and see if that works.

Thanks a lot. Ill try it out. What do i do with the cab files? Sorry im still trying out this stuff. Thanks in advance. I am not registered with PPCGeaks, can you please post the file here?
Cheers,
Andrew
Here you go! Copy the file to your phone and run it. Cabs are install files for your PPC. This should (if I read everything on PPC Geeks correctly) create shortcuts to the various ## codes in your start menu.
K I registered with the forum. How do i use the cab file? Thanks again btonetbone.
Cheers,
Andrew
K nevermind. I registered and got the file. Do i just install the cab file? And then what codes do i use? thanks again btonetbone.
Cheers,
Andrew
Correct. Install the cab file. It should create shortcuts for the phone codes in your start menu.
Thanks for the reply and the file. I installed the file and it still does not get to the screen i need. I am running 3.42.50 and 3.2.6 for bell. Thanks again. Could it have anything to do with a boot loader?
Cheers
I also tried ##33284 and ##3424 to get to the diagnostic page and it worked. But to get to the page to change the number i can't. ah... lol
Does anyone have any ideas why the phone tries to load the page but then closes and enters the phone again? If you have any ideas please let me know.
i think it is a dialer issue. You can also run the diagnostic directly from file explorer. I forget the name of the file. Did you try ##3424#
I tried ##3424#, but that didn't work. Whenever i put the pound at the end it starts calling, it i leave it out, it tries to load a settings page. ##3424 does work. What am I suppose to do with that? Also what does the diagnostic directory tell me. Thanks.
Well ##3424 is for qpst.
I get into a page with ##3424. What is qpst, do I need something set there? I changed different roms but no help. i am using bootloader 2.47 no2chem and so i cant use much older roms. If anyone knows anything to try please advise. I am without a phone now.
I recently purchased an HTC Evo V 4G on Virgin Mobile. Otherwise known as the HTC Evo 3D (it even says Sprint on the case.)
I'm having this problem where seemingly at random I will attempt to make a call or a text and it won't go through. My signal bar will suddenly drop to 0 and when it comes back I am unable to do anything. No data, calls, or texts will go through. I am then forced to restart my phone (with Fastboot off otherwise I need to take out the battery) to get it working again. It's hard to notice when this happens unless I notice I'm not getting any texts back. At that point I call my voicemail to see if it works.
Was this a problem people had with the phone on Sprint? Is this new to VM and caused by that? I'm not a new VM customer either. I never have problems like this. I don't know if there's conflicting apps causing weird behavior, it's something on VMs causing the behavior, if this is a known issue, etc.
Any help or guidance I can get will be much appreciated.
More info:
When SMS messages won't go through it displays:

Details:
"SMS Error

Error Class: 2"

I'm not sure about the error but I have had weird things like that (not same) happen to me since flashing the vm firmware from the leak and using an ics rom. Going to airplane mode and back usually helps me, might save the trouble of restarting.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Same thing happening here!!!! I flashed the vm firmware so I'm guessing it's that
I've tried airplane mode to no avail.
I'm on Virgin Mobile... I wonder if it matters that I have a Sprint labeled phone? I assume that VM users are getting old stock of the EVO 3D and they didn't want to bother re-branding until they ran out. Which means that I'm in nearly the same situation: I have the EVO 3D flashed with the VM ROM. Maybe that's causing issues?
Try one thing, I believe I fixed my problem for now at least. Dial *#*#4636#*#* , go to phone information, scroll all the way down and the preferred network mode should be set to "WCDMA". Change it to "CDMA auto (PRL)" then restart your phone. If you are already on the one I'm telling you to change to then I got no idea. I was getting the exact same error codes as you and that random service drop, haven't had it since I made this change. Let me know how it goes

I don't know the technicalities but I just know that it fixed for me and in the past have seen people recommended that.. it all comes down to just messing with it yourself you know, it's not dangerous to change if anything goes wrong just revert back
the same thing happened to me, and i flashed back to the sprint firmware using the firmware recovery thread, and that seemed to fix things, however i don't know what flashing sprint firmware is going to do

Thanks for the tip.... but that's what it's set on. Think it would do anything to change to WCDMA, restart, and then go back to CDMA Auto (PRL) ?

##3282# from dialer
go to edit mode and enter msl(use msl reader from market if ur rooted, if ur not rooted u will have to ask sprint for it)
hit menu at top right corner of edit screen "reset"
This will re-provision ur data profile with Virgin Mobile and clear out any hodgepodge. But if u bought the phone from VM and its doing that I doubt a data profile restore will fix the problem. I had the Sprint 3d and flashed the VM ICS leak and it caused the same problem for me and most of the other Sprint users that flashed it. I think it has something to do with how ICS interacts with the carrier network (radio interface daemon) hence the "radio interface resource shortage" error. Once once the developers realized the VM firmware was not need to flash ICS, it worked flawlessly with Sprint firmware.

I knew the first thing I should have done is root this phone... especially since I'm coming from an Optimus V that was rooted 90% of the time I had it if not more.
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!
I tried getting my MSL and was unsuccessful. Is this something phone specific or account specific? I found my MSL from my last phone since that's rooted.
I don't know if it's caused by ICS, my Windows setup, or what but attempting to finding my MSL was a hassle this time around. I can get pretty far into the steps but since the guide isn't written for my phone there seems to be something I'm doing wrong. I read through hundreds of comments and tried everything I could, too.

If u asked them for it and they wouldn't give it to you just tell them you are having problems getting your phone to access data and send texts with the network and can they walk you through how to reprovision it. They should tell you to dial ##3282# and enter a code. That 6 digit code they read out to you is your MSL. Write it down.
You can try this as well

Also here's one that works without root.

Nothing seems to be working unfortunately. I've tried every method, read every comment, and tried anything I could. Thanks for all of your help. I realize that not many other people have this phone on VM but thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I will likely end up rooting when I have the time.
So I foolishly tried to flash the gt-i9505 miui rom to tinker with it. I added the files that was in the OP on that thread and got it to boot up but didn't get any further than the setup screen. I had also flash Chronic Kernel alongside it because when I didn't add a kernel it wouldn't boot.
Decided I needed to start fresh and I odin'd back to stock recovery w/out root and now my phone is stuck in roaming mode. I cannot activate my phone at all...when it goes to setup wizard it asks me to press 1 to complete activation but I can't pull up the dialpad to press 1 to activate.
Did I screw up my radio on this? I have a replacement coming but I won't get it til Tues I was kinda hoping to fix this myself since Verizon tech couldn't fix it.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm stock vmdk right now.

I wish I would have thought of this sooner before I flashed the new baseband on it It's getting replaced Tues I just wanted to see if I could fix it myself and thought maybe updating the phone to the new build would have worked (it sure didn't) Thanks for the idea and I'll keep this in mind should it happen again (it better not though)
It will definitely happen if you switch between stock and aosp. If you choose one or the other stick with it. I know it's hard but it will save you a lot of headaches.

I didn't realize AOSP would do that as well...do very much appreciate your advice and help...thanks again
i'm unfortunately in the same boat here. I was trying to decide between an AOSP and TW rom, screwed up my network connection, and then somehow thought Odin with ME7 update would be a good idea. It sounds like this is just a network settings issue, is there anything that can be done with root and the terminal or some other setting/configuration change?
Please help, thanks in advance for any leads to fix this...
I'm sorry but without a custom rom I doubt you can get to CDMA subscription setting and switch it to the proper value. Look it up maybe someone has a solution that would work with stock.

Meh, after a good debloating workout it's not so bad. It's nice to not worry about a random FC, only downside is just preference for some of those visual mods and themes...who am i kidding, I can't wait until Safestrap is rolling.
So now i'm wondering what mods I can use with factory recovery...anything that isn't a full rom should still work...right? I'm a little worried of messing it up again, but I feel like some of the tweaks out there should be possible while running stock.

Yeah I thought the ME7 update would fix my issue with my phone but it didn't...sadly my replacement phone has wifi and bluetooth problems and all I done was root it (which has NEVER happened to me) Verizon sending me yet again another replacement. Glad to hear you got yours fixed though. Hopefully this thread will help the next person out who ends up with this issue
You can try to deploy 3minit framework but you would have to do it manually since you cannot flash it. If you manage that without breaking it than you should be good without the custom stock rom.

No promises but...
First, root
Then, enable hidden menus
Finally (I'm not sure yet, waiting on someone to get back me about if this was the fix or not) from the dialer type ##RTN# and at the menu tap Reset, then reboot, double check your network settings, and then come back here and verify that it was the rtn menu that fixed the issue so the next guy who comes along knows what to do...
It's kind of ironic how useless official support is, I spent hours on the phone and hours digging through xda to get my fix...support did nothing, xda helped with everything
I really need some assistance ASAP on this one, folks. My phone/text is not working at all ever since I did the following stupidly today.
I tried to see if there was an option to get 2G/3G/4G working on the VS985 on 7.0. Guess I shouldn't have been so curious.
The only real steps I took to see was going to: Settings>Fulmics Tweaks>Advanced>Hidden Menu>Modem Protocol>Changed to Automatic..........now I have NO talk/text. Only 4G LTE data. Does anyone know what I'm referring to here? How do I get back to the original settings which worked fine!?
There must be a way out of this mess.
EDIT: there is! seemingly random combo led me to a solution.
Under the phone settings for mobile network - network mode: select CDMA+LTE/EVDO, and under the access point names: use VZWINTERNET. Make sure both of those are also the same in the hidden menu as well as selecting AUTO under Modem Protocol. That seemed to fix it for me.
Mods can close this one up.

Thanks! If the combo above doesn't work, you can also try auto under the hidden menu frequency, and auto (or global) in the phone APN settings if LTE/CDMA don't give you a good signal or only give you data but not voice. For some reason the phone APN settings may look different depending on what you have previously selected or when you reboot. The access point should always be VZWINTERNET and you should not change any of those values in either the hidden menu or the phone network menu.
Once you get it figured out, you should not have any further issues or need to tweak these values unless traveling internationally. If that is the case, check the LTE bands carefully 1st and adjust frequency 2nd.
I'd be extremely cautious about changing any of these values. If you make any mistakes, recovering can be a slow process as these are system level changes that will impact the phone - no matter what version of android, rom or nandroid backups you had previously - cannot override these changes. Also, screenshots won't help because the changes in the hidden menu aren't reflected in the UI.

Thank you again kind sir. Safe travels.
this working only werizon area?
Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. We have two networks at home and I need to switch between them quite often. I do so by changing the default gateway on my statically-set wifi settings, but since Pie the changes aren't saved. I can't even change my IP without forgetting and re-adding the connection. I change the gateway IP then go back (since I see no "save" button) but googling "ip" shows I'm still on the original network and if I go back into the wifi settings I can see it hasn't changed.
This is super frustrating. Am I alone? Is there a fix for this?
At the bottom right corner should be the Save-Button. Maybe you have to hide the keyboard to make it visible

How odd. I don't remember seeing that but I see it now. I'll check whether it's different when editing the settings on my home wifi after work. Hopefully I was just blind because I'd like to be able to save my wifi settings.

Right so I tested it again. Definitely wasn't blind. I was already pressing Save without noticing but yeah, it still doesn't work. Very much broken. Does it actually save any changes for you? For instance, if you go in and attempt to change your IP address, are you able to save it?
I've tried it, and it also doesn't save any changes. Then this is a bug of the Firmware.

Yeah I assumed it was but I wasn't certain if it was just me or not. Thanks for testing that and confirming! I'm on live chat with Samsung atm and the dude is checking with his phone, which is also on Pie apparently. Hopefully he can file a bug report if he can replicate.

I'm not sure when it changed but I noticed recently that on the current update it's fixed for me. I'm on Android 9 Pie. The exact build number in settings is PPR1.180610.011.G965FXXS4CSDH, if that's helpful.
If you still can't get it working, tell the network to "forget" and then re-add it, and set the static IP before you save for the first time and that should work.
That workaround works thanks.
hi guys, i tried on build PPR1.180610.011.N950FXXS7DSH1 its not saving wither with workaround or with normal way.

Click to collapse
Forget and add again with static settings works! Thanks!
