Search QKSMS on play.
Are you looking for an SMS type or a messenger like Whatsapp, Viber. I think if you can wait a little, you will get a Lollipop messenger port sooner than later.
I have the qksms for normal texting. Now looking for messenger ala whatsapp style.

There is a Facebook app in the Market which works fine for me!

I agree, FriendCaster beats the official Facebook app hands down! Especially the pull up 'favourites' tab (similar to the iOS' Favourite profiles, which I miss from my iPod touch days), the ability to tag photos (can't believe it's still not possible in the default one!!) and the popup notifications, especially reminding me of friends' birthdays.
Although it doesn't have chat, Go! Chat is a Facebook chat client (still better than official FB chat) Go on, give it a go
If Friendcaster supports chat function, I will probably use it instead of the Official Facebook app.
can link yahoo messager as fb chat now

Hey guys,
Living in China here and facebook is blocked, when I first had blur facebook use to work through Moto's blur service.
Now that I have CM, there is no more blur and no more facebook...
Besides getting a VPN to bypasss China's firewall, is there any facebook app available now that works through their own server?

If you want more functionality there is always the possibility to just visit the mobile/regular website via your browser. It only takes 1 tap more if you have facebook listed in your favourites.

I don't understand how would it be exclusive to defy, am I missing something?
As an iOS ex-user, I miss lots of apps that I used in iOS. One of the most important of them is Tweetbot.
I've been searching for a great Tweetbot replacement and the only tolerable ones that I found are Plume, Boid and TweetDeck. But I am being forced to use the terrible official client because of the push notifications. Those clients have some sort of "placebo" push, which is slower and is less battery-efficient.
So, there's my question: can I use another app to push Twitter mentions to my device? Personally, I've got 2 ideas: an app like Boxcar (available for iOS, developers say that they are working on an Android app, but it feels abandoned) or some way to redirect official Twitter's notifications to Plume when I tap on them on Notification Center.
Thanks!

Do you get you tweets via text? If so you should try the app tweetification in the Play Store

After happily using Seesmic, now I am looking for a replacement as there is some issue due to which it cannot update Facebook.
After trying many apps (Hootsuit, Seesmic ping, tweet caster, tweetdeck etc) have still not find a good app that has below features:
1. Update status on twitter and Facebook (most do)
2. Upload photos to Facebook (surprisingly none do it, they just post link on my wall)
3. Tag friends in posts
4. Schedule status updates, not really imp as I use buffer.
Thanks in advance for the help
None?

I second feedly, after learning of Google Reader's demise i've used nothing but this and it's fantastic.
I prefer Pulse myself.
You can see more headlines at once and then decide which stories you want to actually read.
I find having to flip through every story with Flipboard and Currents annoying.
But I can see how they could be appealing as they are more like flipping trough a paper magazine.
I like Google Currents if I want to read from a specific source. Swipe left right to switch between new sources and up down to scrollbetween articles. So convenient! I llike flip board for the compilation of articles or news from various sources at once.
I'm used to flipboard.
So im gonna stay with flipboard
+1 for Feedly. Not perfect but good enough. I can't stand flipboard and especially currents. Too much gloss. At least with Feedly, I can make it look more like Reader.

Pulse for blogs and news, flipboard for pictures . Addicted to both

Pulse is too condensed making it hard to read full titles, Currents I feel like is not as intuitive and simple as Flipboard. I mainly use Flipboard on my note 2 and ipad.
I'm a fan of currents, personally.
