Hlw some one please help me i unpack .img file but i cant pack the file:crying::crying:
There are several programs that do it if you search xda. Any kitchen will do it, ricki kitchen even works in windows. You can also just use this simple guide

Can someone teach me how to install rar files in my xda2? thanks
best should be to unpack the rar-files on your PC (with WinRAR), afterwards install the software (formerly in the rar-file)via Activesync.
If you have a cab-file in your former rar-file you might copy this directly on your PPC to install it directly from there (disadvantage on WM2003(SE)): will be installed into main memory, you have no choice to select your SD-Card when using this way)
thanks for the reply...btw, whats a cab file anyway? Im not really into this tech stuff
CAB files are similar to that of a ZIP/RAR file where you compress and store things into a single file. In the case of pocketpc, the CAB files are used as a SETUP.EXE , where is has all the necessary instructions and stuff to install the program. I guess.
thanks guys, You've been of great help. I was able to download winrar to open the rar files for installation.
This is probably a easy question but I have been struggling to find an answer. I downloaded a custom kitchen because I wanted one of the .exe files from it, but when I go into the OEM section there is a folder for the .exe. Inside the folder are the imageinfo.bin, imageinfo.txt and S00 files. Is there a way to get this back to the exe format so I can just copy the file to my phone? I tried loading the custom ROM and copying the exe from the windows folder and it would not allow me to do that either. Any help is appreciated
Those are packages for cooking including the registry files, drivers and other random files needed for the app to work. I would not use those... just type in what your looking for followed by .cab into the search bar and should be able to find it
I realize the rgu file contains the registery entries, but I really need the exe for wmodem used it the ROM. I have tried the wmodem cab files with no success.
snag nueRecMod...
drag the folder containing imageinfo.bin, etc onto nueRecMod.exe in windows explorer
look inside the nueRecMod folder for your compiled module
That works great. Thanks man!!!
Hey guys,
I just started the long journey of android rom development/cooking using an app called Android Kitchen, and I'm looking for some help from the more experienced. I extracted a custom rom folders (for personal use), and started to edit some of the extracted files (replacing and deleting), but I'm quite lost when it comes to merging flashable .zip folders (like lockscreens and mods) with the extracted rom file.Should I copy and paste whats inside the flashable zip into the rom file? Or should I use note editor to copy what's inside the mod file itself, copy the text, and add it to the original one? I really want to add these mods through this app rather than recovery mode. And can I emulate edited roms on my computer rather than risking my phone?
Thnx...
Hi,
Quick guide basically with flash able mods look at the updater script within the flash able zip this will give you a guidance as to where each file needs to be
Once you have this you should create a folder structure mimicking that in the root of the extracted com area and add the corresponding lines to your ROMS updater script
Any more help required PM me and I'll help you out I'm noob friendly

Hello,
I need to find a way to edit factory firmware:
1. insert one or two app to be preinstalled, and placed on home screen
2. change default ringtone
I tryed android kitchen, repack system.img file (which is one of many parts files of firmware i have to edit, like boot.img etc) then i edited just one thing, e.g background or place one app. And then I get stuck, i cant find way to restore system.img. Kitchen makes update.zip file..which cant be installed becouse of signature.. So my main problem is how to edit system.img? (unpacked or packed)
Basicly every advice is how to repack, open *.img file, non is to repack.
I have PAP4500DUO and A538 Lenovo. And Windows envirement. I am a rookie too.. :/
Hi guys im a noob to the forums and to rom customization in general looking for some help
I have a generic MX dual core, and have been supplied a flash firmware and image from the supplier. This image is basic and has a lot of bloatware apps which i want to remove and put some of my own
The image supplied is a zipfile and contains:
factory_update_param.aml
hd18d_mx4.zip
recovery.img
I am able to successfully restore my box with this image (so I know that the image is working fine).
Within the hd18d_mx4.zip there is:
Directotories: data, META-INF, recovery, system
files: boot.img, bootloaded.img, logo.img
I can see the all the system APK files within the system/app folder. The problem is when i try to add another APK file into this directory within the archive (in this case videomix.apk), I am not able to restore the image to the MX device.
Can anyone help me with a noobies guide to do this. I have read that the apk file has to be signed, and the zip file has to be signed also?? But im not quite sure what this means, nor how I go about doing it.
Any help or tutorials will be much appreciate. I have downloaded the APK-multi-tool but dont have a clue what I need to do
Look forward to your replies.
P.S. Im using a windows 32 bit machine
anyone???
