[Q] ZTE V969 - Cannot enter custom recovery mode via combination keys - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have with me this ZTE Handset which apparently is not yet listed in gsmarena.com. I think this handset was released last December of 2013 considering it was the date set when i first turned on the device.
For quick specs it uses MTK6582, MALI-400MP, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM
Moving on with my problem.. I have already rooted the device but cannot do any drastic modifications in fear of going into bootloop. I have already installed TWRP but it seems that I cannot access it via combination keys from a device-turned-off state. The only way I can boot into the aforementioned recovery mode is when I'm inside the Android OS using Holo Rebooter/Quick Boot app etc. While I already have a twrp backup, it cannot be used when the device goes on bootloop and/or stucked at logo for whatever reason.
Here are the combination keys I tried so far:
1. Volume Up + Power Button = ATE SIGNALING MODE, EMERGENCY CALL IS NOT AVAILABLE
2. Volume Down + Power Button = META MODE
3. Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button = FACTORY RESET MODE (In Chinese Language)
There are only three physical buttons in the device as stated above.
Do you guys have any idea or workaround for my problem?
If combination keys are out of the options, is there a way to enter TWRP while the device is turned off using the computer?
I'm really hoping someone can help me with this problem. I've spent a lot of time looking for any online resources that can be used to solve this problem but to no avail.
Thanks in advance and good day to all of you.

that's exactly my problem too :'(

[Q] Tengda H10 + MTKDroidTools = Constant Reboot + No Recovery Mode "scrolling"
Hi,
I just tried to root and make a backup of Tengda H10 which came with a very ugly looking android 4.2.2 rom. It is using mtk6572, so I decided to root it and go back to a stock rom of Android. But after a successful rooting and backing up, the phone started to act oddly. It now constantly reboots without any signs of stopping. I have tried to enter the recovery mode by holding both power and volume - button. And it seems to work. But the problem is when I enter that mode, I cannot move anywhere using the volume + nor -. Therefor not try the popular removing of the cache method...
How can this be solved? Is there a way? Or am I majorly screwed here?
Edit: It seems I was mistaken in considering what I entered to be a recovery mode. It seems to be something else because the green little robot isn't showing up and all I see is a white text with "=> factory mode". Still I have no clue what is going on and would like some assistance on this.

Thanks for telling ! I had been looking for this information for a long time.
Apparently, my service info says "bootloader unlock allowed: yes", I wonder if it means that I actually unlocked it or that the device would accept me to do it.
I moreover wonder how one can manage to install CM or root its device without using Recovery Mode. I saw on your signature you rooted your device. May I ask how you did that ?

It means your bootloader CAN BE unlocked.
To install a ROM, such as CM, you first unlock your bootloader, then move the ROM zip to your device. After that, you flash the included kernel from the zip with fastboot. Then, you boot into the included recovery from the kernel and flash the whole ROM.

I finally found a solution to my problem : I unlocked the device using flashtool-0.9.11's gui procedure, instead of flashtool's fastboot. It succeeded and I can successfully flash anything I want on the device.
I found your rational approach to my problem useful. It helped me isolate a solution. Thanks !

[Q] Vodafone Smart II (Alcatel V860) - Can't get to recovery or fastboot

I know this probably isn't a very popular phone, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to install CM. I can't seem to get into recovery mode, which should be power & volume +, so I try to get the phone into fastboot mode power & volume -, but that also doesn't work. All I can manage is to get to a reset screen - a page asking for confirmation to reset the stock ROM.
Is this a common problem? I've not been able to find a solution online.
Bump.

how to boot into recovery mode through pc ?

Hi,
I own galaxy s3 i9000, currently on custom rom. My phone automatically rebooted and got stuck on bootloop. If I am able to enter in recovery mode, i can wipe cache(which may can help to get out of bootloop). But the problem is I am unable to enter into recovery mode because phone's volume up button is not working and my phone auto reboots every time after power off or reinserting battery. Is there any other way to clear cache or enter into recovery mode?
I dont want to flash my stock rom via odin (because i didnt backup my some important apps and msgs), this will be my last option.
sorry for my bad english
The normal way I get my phone into recovery mode from the PC is using ADB and the command: "adb reboot recovery". However, I bet this won't work in your case for one of several possible reasons: depending on when the bootloop occurs in the boot process, the phone may never reach a point where ADB is able to see your phone in the first place; if this is happening after a flashing a new custom ROM, then also it's unlikely that USB debugging is turned and the PC is not yet authorized to connect with it over ADB.
Another thought, could your power button be stuck down? I had a GS3 SCH-I535 several years ago and the power switch went bad on it, it would keep rebooting, shutting down randomly, or I'd be unable to turn on the screen. I had a switch replaced and it was fine after that. I don't think it's normal for the phone to automatically boot up when you reinsert the battery, that's why I bring that up. Maybe you can wiggle the power button a bit and try to unstick it if that's the case.
I tried to remove and stick back the power button again, but still it didnt worked. By the way fixing power button will not help me to get into recovery mode as my phone's volume up button is also not working, and recently I found out that I cant enter into download mode too because when I press respective buttons (volume down + home + power) for download mode, it gives warning msg to click 'volume up' buttton to enter into download mode or 'volume down' to reboot. Therefore again volume up button is required to enter into download mode too. So the only option remained for me is to visit service center and fix the volume up button.

Question Accessing Recovery Mode to reset the phone

Hello XDA
I was suggested on Reddit that I post my problem with my Nokia 5.4 here instead
I'm trying to open up the phone of which I forgot the password, but I can only access bootloader not Recovery Mode.
Is there any software that can make the phone boot up in the Recovery Mode to entirely reset the phone?
Thanks in the regard
Normally, if you need to recover your phone, you do so through settings. But if you're hacking your phone and bricked it (or cannot log into your phone), most people know you can hold the power button and volume down, then enter recovery.
It's not so simple for Nokia 5.3 (or 5.4)
On Nokia 5.3 (or 5.4), you will see the boot menu, and you can use the volume keys to navigate, but if you select recovery, your phone reboots to what looks like a dead Android and reads, "no command."
The secret is when at this screen, hold power, then press the volume up key, 1x (fast). You now are inside Nokia's secret menu. You can navigate using the volume keys, and you select using the power button. One of the options is "recovery" (which would wipe everything).
However, unlike most recovery menus on generic Android phones, Nokia has left the option to install your own apps and update the phone. I know of no ROMS or apps I can sideload into a Nokia 5.3, but it is interesting. I am curious if it would work or not.
