why xperia z ultra india edition get latest updates of 4.4.4
in all devices 4.4.4 updates are rolling out from last 5 months. but it hvnt received still
when i have purchased phone it inbuilt 4.4.2 then it never get update of OS stills.
and i dont want to update that via Pc companion.
i just want to answer that why sony cant put latest updates in india ????
and i recently read that z ultra GPE edition will get android 5.0 updates
so, why we cant??

It's just quicker to update manually at this point. Sony probably has a reason for not releasing the update in India. It could well be some carrier issues (all firmware versions has to pass through carriers first, and requires testing). We don't know, and instead of spending time speculating on something that we will never know, you can download and install the update manually and continue with your life

@scorpion_byte can we flash 4.4.4 from HK by using flash tool and again if required come back to India version by flashing indian rom. I understand with this I will loose the data.
Any advantages of going to 4.4.4

I've been using the pac-man ROM for over a year now, but it's a very old version, buggy and outdated. I wanted to try Kit Kat or basically just find a stable ROM, but pretty much ALL of the ROMS i've tried end up unable to find any mobile network or display the SIM card as invalid. Even when I search for networks or try to add a network manually, it still doesn't stick. Occassionally it'll even find the my local network when I go in settings and do a network search, my network being that of China Unicom, but it always results in failure to subscribe, please try again later. This has happened on a good 7 out of 8 ROMS i've flashed. The ONLY ROM i've ever been able to find a network on and thus make it usable has been the old 2013 pac-man 3.99 build. I've searched the forum and google for answers, such as flashing a particular modem or whatnot, but haven't found any solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas? It'd be greatly appreciated. I really need an updated ROM! :fingers-crossed:

I've tried: 4.4.4 CM11, Stone UI hD3, Carbon KK Unofficial 2014-12, CM10.2 nightly, CM 11 M9, KitKat CarbonCN, PC Honami KK RC3, and Xperia Z Z1-1.4.
Only working ROM so far: pa_togari-3.99-RC2-20131104
To use the more modern ROMs you will have to be on a 4.4.4 FTF or you will get baseband issues ie SIM cant connect to network etc

It's been over a year since I unlocked and flashed my phone, and I haven't done any flashing since, so I kind of forget some of the procedures and technical aspects.
I'm going over the FAQ now, and one thing it says is "Never Flash a FTF to a ZU GPe." What is a GPe, and how can we make sure we are not using it?
It also mentioned I should use Sony PC Companion to update to the newest firmware. This means it will update to 4.4.4 FTF right, or do I need to find this and flash it manually? Likewise, after I'm on 4.4.4, I assume my phone will be reverted back to stock. Would I have to root it and unlock the bootloader again?
I remember when doing all this for my phone the first time, since my phone was a Chinese model, 6833 I believe, I went through hell and back for several weeks until it flashed and took the current ROM properly. Something about buggy firmware in that paritcular model, although it's been so long I forgot all the details. I'm worried that I'll run into a similar situation with 4.4.4... I tried to update to KK via Sony Pc Companion, but it says my phone is up to date. I assume it says that because it's not seeing any official firmware, due to the flashed ROM. Even when choosing the option to "repair my phone" which says it will re-install the latest available firmware, it states that there is no software available for my device. If memory serves me correct, I must first flash back to my oldest stock firmware that came with my phone, then I can use PC companion to update to KK, and then maybe unlock bootloader and root again, and then I'll be able to flash new ROMs and have a working mobile network, does that sound right?
Out of curiosity, since it's 4.4.4 ROMs that don't seem to work (network wise), doesn't that mean 4.3 ROMs should find a network just fine?

I cant remember where/when the baseband changed, it has been updated several times. I would just go straight to 4.4.4 and not worry about PC Companion - Just use the latest flashtool (http://flashtool.net).
Grab a 4.4.4 (aka x.x.x.108 or .118) FTF from the FTF thread in the dev section and flash that. That will wipe all user data (so back it up) and install a new /system image. You will have to root the device again abut 4.4.4 is easy to root now with the easyroot tool. Then you should be on the latest baseband and all the new ROMs should work - 4.4.4 and 5.0.x

I found in the FTF repository: STOCK ROM] [FTF] Xperia Z Ultra 6833 14.4.A.0.118 "VodaFone UK" and also "SRF FR".
I'm using a 6833 in China, however. My guess is these wouldn't work because they require different networks.

Then I can flash other ROMs (that use the same firmware), which will have updated modems, and consequently get my network signal back. Is this how it works? I have a french stock Tablet Z2 32 Gb. I checked within Xperifirm and everyone got the Lollipop update except the region including France, Germany etc...
Did I miss a note saying that we won't get the update ? Lollipop is rolling out for others regions since days or weeks. I find it odd that we don't have it yet ?

This is very frustrating. I love my Lollipop on the Z3 Compact. It works great and looks so nice.

The Taiwanese prerooted .726 firmware which has a thread in this forum should -according to xda members - also work on a SGP512.
Region is really irrelevant - as soon as you set the language on the welcome screen, they're really all just the same.

In that case, could somebody give a hint which region to choose, that is for me, which region/customisation is the less bloated one?
Also irrelevant, because if you're rooted, you anyway can uninstall or deactivate the bloat apps.

It's running great. I should have done this sooner. But who knew that after over a Month release of Lollipop the German devices would still not have it via OTA.
Does any body know what will happen once 5.1 is released for xperia devices? Will i get it OTA via my original region or via the region i just flashed manually? Or do i always need to flash manually from now on?

Sony Mobile has released a new firmware update for the Xperia M4 Aqua today, but before you get too excited, this is only a small update on Android 5.0 Lollipop. No Marshmallow for Xperia M4 Aqua owners just yet.
This is a global update and is live across all variants of the Xperia M4 Aqua (E2303, E2353, E2306) and Xperia M4 Aqua Dual (E2312, E2333, E2363). The single SIM variants have been updated to build number 26.1.A.3.111 (from 26.1.A.2.167), whilst the dual SIM variants have been updated to version 26.1.B.3.109 (from 26.1.B.2.147). Feel free to post your impressions once you’ve updated. In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted once the big Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware starts to roll.

ota updates have that kind of problems always in my country (argentina)
best option is flashing ftf with flashtool
you can download the updated ftf with flashtool and xperifirm, its available the last version now

The latest firmware is not yet available for your current Carrier, although you could update with flashtool using a generic version! If you wait a bit until the update comes out I can make you an ftf for your Carrier.

AFAIK there is no difference.
As I understand it, I don't need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash different official firmware versions to my phone. I'm leaving the bootloader locked until I really have a need to unlock it, because of the long-shot hope for a root exploit that will let me preserve my TA partition. As part of that, I really don't want to be stuck on a recent firmware version with all the old security holes patched. Therefore I want to get ahold of my current firmware or earlier before I flash anything. Somebody stop me here if I've misunderstood and anything I've said so far is impossible.
I have the dual-sim variant, G8342, running firmware 47.1.A.2.324.
Question 1: Is there a source somewhere of archived XZ1 firmware versions that includes 47.1.A.324 or earlier? I have searched the forum and google, but most xperia firmware backup sites have little or no files for the XZ1, and the couple of sources I've found are ancient with broken links. The post on these forums with stock firmware downloads only includes much newer versions.
Question 2: Is there a way I can extract a copy of my current firmware from my phone, without unlocking the bootloader? I find tutorials that work for "any xperia", but they're all quite old and talk about Sony PC Companion instead of Xperia Companion, and they all involve clicking "Your software is up to date"--and my software is not up to date, and updating it before backing it up would defeat the entire purpose of backing it up.
I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me so I can flash new firmware without losing the ability to go back.

Seems highly unlikely that you haven't received an update since 2017 but then stranger things have happen.. New phone, carrier branded hmm..
Have you tried to update with Sony Companion, use the software update on the phone its self..
Oh and yes you can use the other methods you have mentioned..

thanks god i found a solution for this.
Repair my phone using xperia companion.
it's basically like flashing my phone and update my firmware to the latest firmware which is 47.1.A.16.20
