Hi to Devs,
I am using myphone a919i duo is a local brand here in philippines. Because i want to update my phone to JB. But inorder to do that. I need to install CWM then install the JB update using CWMR. I have used the mobileuncle app to do that. But still no lack. maybe the recovery.img is corrupted.:crying:
Regards and thanks,
~Mac
Just download a recovery like CMWR or TWRP then flash it to replace your corrupted recovery. You can use mobileuncle app or fastboot to flash it. You can get one recovery from Rom Manager or search it

How can I manually flash a downloaded recovery while the ROM is running?
Since some apps (such as ROM Manager) can flash a new recovery from within the app, I know it's possible.
Only certain recoveries can do this...other than that your only option with this device is the .img fastboot way...ROM manager offers the cwm recovery and the goo manager app has twrp (which you can install by going to the flash ROM section and downloading and installing recommended recovery)....among ra and anything else as far as I personally know you have to fastboot flash

I did this on my MyTouch 3G when I had it. I just tried it on a sense ROM but it doesn't seem to work. I get flash_image: not found.
I have installed CWM recovery over my stock recovery. Now I want to revert to stock recovery but I am not able to find appropriate stock recovery for my Huawei Ascend Y511-U30 device. I want to flash stock firmware which I have downloaded from Huawei Russia website but my CWM recovery is not recognizing it and update fails. Any suggestions?
Can anybody help me?

I think both bootloader unlocking and device should be rooted to install/flash CWM or relative app/soft. After that, i am sure installing CWM is not a big problem. Search forum for CWM installation, I'm sure you will find solution.

By the way, this post was very old. Now I have resolved the issue after googling. Obviously one must have root privileges to install a custom recovery. Luckily Huawei Bootloader is unlocked so no need to worry about it. I had used FRAMA ROOT apk in order to root my Y511-U30. You can find its thread on XDA. For installing a CWM recovery I used its CWM img file in a Chinese apk called Mobile Uncle Tools. With that aok you can easily install flash CWM recovery and flash custom Roms which are many which you can find over internet.
If anybody needs any help regarding Y511-U30, please send a PM to me.
Regards.

So, today i bought my P780, there is preinstalled heweikeji CWM recovery v6.0.4.4, it's also prerooted, but i want to install TWRP recovery and every time when i try it via flash tool it say "pmt changed for the rom; it must be downloaded". I tried also instal twrp via mobile uncle tool, but there is still cwm recovery after reboot. Also it can't make backup, problem: "backing up boot image" and nothing happens long time after that, 10 minutes or more.
How to install custom recovery and how to find out version of firmware? I am not sure it's chinese or ROW? Which ROMs to flash?
Build number: VIBEUI_V2.0_1437_7.14.1_ST_P780
Baseband version: P780.V101, 2014/03/12 15:06
Thanks in advance!
I did it!
HowTo: Full backup with MTK Droid Tools, then in mtkdroidtool make scatter file and use them together with recovery.img (i downloaded ) with sp flash tool (SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01), tried to flash with flash tools 3, but there was error on boot screen (tool DL image fail).
Now TWRP work flawlessy...
Is there a way to root via linux? Im running the dev miui atm and looking to install aosp, is there a way to install twrp via mi recovery?

Rooting via linux? You can flash an alternative recovery (TWRP) using fastboot (which is available on linux) and from the recovery flash SuperSU which in turn will grant you root access. But since you're already on dev MIUI there's a simple 'Root enable' function built in already (can't remember exactly where it is, I think it's somewhere in the Security app) and there's no real need to flash SuperSU (unless you want more options/granular control). And, the easiest way to install TWRP is indeed by using the Updater app on MIUI (put twrp.zip on root of internal storage -> Updater app and then there should be an option called 'install/update package' or similar).
Cheers.

Since you was running dev miui, btw, if china dev rom and it was rooted. Used flashify which you can downloaded from playstore to flashed twrp.img. if you erer running global dev rom, you need to root it first. The easier was was used windroid in windows, used it to flash twrp and root your phone. Sorry i don't know the rooting method on linur. backup your data by using miui system backup first, But you can just used the phone by flashing china dev rom and used flashify to flash twrp.img.

you can just like in windows via fastboot. If youre phone is not detected on abd devices (like it happended to me) see this: http://en.miui.com/thread-197576-1-1.html . Dont forget to put the phone in "developer" mode.
You can flash TWRP through Flashify, an Android app.
No need to even touch a PC.
Cheers guys i will take a look at flashify. Almost forgot about this gem

you can use tutorial http://www.linuxslaves.com/2015/07/install-android-tools-adb-fastboot-on-ubuntu-linux.html for adb and fastboot installation
No need adb, fastboot, if you have a twrp you can found many supersu zip installable via recovery, if you not have the twrp recovery so you need fastboot and twrp version for your phone

My tab is not rooted yet. I was hoping to install custom recovery first and then flash supersu using the custom recovery. I am not very fond of Kingroot, Kingoroot or iroot.

First root ur tab with kingroot then replace it with supersu and uninstall kingroot. Then flash the recovery using rashr flash tool. A guide is available for replacing kingroot with supersu.....

first root ur tab with kingroot and then grant root permission to rashr-flash tool
and then flash twrp recovery using rashr
and very important after flashing twrp recovery make a backup to ur sd card if u make any mistake with supersume process it would be easy to restore from it as the backup makes an current rom image
u can replace kingroot with supersu with an app know as supersume which removes kingroot
or simply just follow instruction on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/twrp-3-tab2-a7-10f-t3405991
