YouTube Update - Verizon LG G3

Has anyone got the latest update for the YouTube app? I just installed it hoping they fixed the 1440p option and guess what, now it doesn't even open!!! Wtf are they doing over there I am pissed.
Edit: Tried to restore my backup and it still doesn't work wow.

I just updated off play store, it opens and plays fine. It does seem to max out at 720, though.

Just updated. Opens fine but still 720p max

OK I got it working but it still sucks

[Q] Odd problem with CM7 2.1

I installed CM7 an hour ago without any problems. The process was about 100 times easier than installing cm7 on my fascinate, which was surprising. I tinkered with it a bit, then tried to play a mkv video and got a black screen. I tried 4 different media players, all black screens. I then went to youtube, tried to load up a video, blackscreen. I downloaded Angry Birds, opened it, black screen. I installed straight from WebOS, didn't have the previous version of cm7 on the pad.
Could it have something to do with the fact I had a custom kernel installed before?

WebOS kernel is irrelevant, it's booting from a different partition.
It should work fine, copy the new 2.1 alpha to the SD card, boot into CWM and do a full datawipe & then reflash 2.1, see if that helps.
I am having a fairly similar issue. Angry Birds and other games will work just fine, but videos don't play. I can hear the audio, but where the video should be there is just black. The only two sources I've tried were Netflix and YouTube.
I was hoping to avoid reinstalling CM7, but it looks like I might have to. Is nobody else having this problem?
With YouTube, for me at least, I have to rotate it horizontally to see video. If you watch in high quality, though, it hardly works. The video doesn't buffer properly (constantly stops to buffer).

As far as Netflix this is a known issue. Make sure you are using down version and not the most recent update. I had same issue, rolled back using my titanium backup version to 1.4.1 and all is well with netflix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1178425
As to some of the other video issues if you are trying to play local files, a lot of this may be due to a lack of video codecs. I know I can play full profile 720P mp4 on my SGS2 but I get nothing on touchpad...chalking it up to a codec issue that hopefully gets resolved down the road.

Youtube just stopped working

I was on CM10 but restored to my old Hydra ICS. Youtube worked perfectly fine until yesterday, for no reason (as it was working earlier in the day) it wouldn't play any videos.
I get this message: This was a problem while playing. Touch to retry". I uninstalled, reinstalled via Google Play. And I also installed with a custom APK from this forum (to enable HD), still doesn't work.
However, if I use Super Video, the video plays no problem.
Any ideas on how I can fix this without going to a different ROM?
Updated the ROM and the problem was fixed.

[Q] Youtube

Anyone else is having problems with youtube updates? It doesn't play videos. Only the stock youtube app from my phone (electrify) works. Now, I installed Hybrid ROM and it doesn't come with youtube, and the version in the market still have the same problem. Anyone know the latest working version for my phone and where to download it? Thank you.

I got rid of my Electrify but recall I had to roll back several version before finding the last one that worked. Then I no longer updated youtube. I think I found it in a Google youtube product forum. Yep search google for Youtube 4.5.17 apk and install it over whatever you have now. Your youtube videos will play again. Just don't update Youtube until the issue gets fixed but I doubt it will as its been almost 4 months. Not missing much with the newer versions anyway.

Open the video with chrome and set desktop view. Then choose 1440P resolution and watch your video of course only work if that videos have high resolution.

You still can't even watch 1080p with the YouTube app?
That crap really annoyed me on my Nexus 7 (2013) where you could only watch 720p at most. :-/
Use the previous update of YouTube and you will be able to watch 1440p just disable auto update from Google playstore ....

That's weird .... Because im using it right now ... and im able to watch 1440p videos .....
Working for me ... try it one more time ..... I know it works because people from the LG G3 thread said was working good ...
I downloaded the YouTube apk from your mediafire link and it worked for me.
It should be noted that I had to remove YouTube twice using System app remover (ROOT) (pro), firstly I removed from User Apps but then when I rebooted YouTube was still present and started updating automatically. I then removed another YouTube that was present in the System Apps section and so it was removed completely.
Installed the above apk and now can enjoy 2K YouTube videos :good:

Im using 5.10.3.5 and I get 1080p on videos that support it. Havent tried higher, because... well... my current device (Note 3) has a 1080p screen (soon to be a Note 4). According to google play, thats the last and latest version here in Scandinavia.

Root your device .... delete youtube from your system "Root Explorer Pro" redoot device ... make sure youtube is not in your system device . And know install the version that I posted ... and know you should be able to see 1440p resolution .....
Also make sure auto update is disable from your playstore
Ok, after some fiddling around, clearing cache, wiping data, removing, reinstalling etc i can now get the 1440p option to show... However when i select anything from the resolution selector nothing seems to happen. I click the cog again and the resolution is the same as it was before ...

It's not perfect, which is why I imagine it was removed from later updates.
On mine I noticed it would autoselect a lower (720p) resolution when I was far from my router but nearer it would stay on 1440p, we have fibre optic broadband but the router is pretty crap so it makes sense to me.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the reason - even if i select 480p it doesn't change anything...
I've gone back to the latest Youtube app at 720p for now - until Google get their **** sorted.
Ok. I was able to see 1440p videos after this was done. And just today i cant no longer been trying to view a video in 1440p and now it only shows on 720p
I deleted the youtube app clean cache . Tempe files etc restarted phone and installed again and i dont know what happened i no longer can see the 1440p again
Any other version Of youtube available or other way
did same as shown but the youtube you post is 13 version no 5 and its same 720p maximum why???
update:i now see the 1080p or 1440 but when i choose nothing happened when i check it back to 720p???
Mother fawwwwwkkk
I think its blocked server side

[Q] Play Store App Demo Videos Don't Play

On my Nexus 9, in the Google Play Store, when I try to watch the demo video for any app, it will only play about 1 second of the video. Anyone else have this problem? Please reply either way. I would like to know if its working for anyone else.
Thanks!
Same for me. I first thought it was WiFi sucking, but its too consistent, its a bug on n9, works fine on my nexus 5.
Thanks. I thought the same thing and I have also tested on the same WiFi with my Nexus 5, both running Android 5.0.1 and it works on Nexus 5. Anyone know if this has been reported?
Ditto. Nexus 7 on Lollipop. Same issue. Tried all the normal debugging methods with the play store and video players.

Ditto on Nexus 9 here also.
I have the issue on my Shield Tablet running 5.0.1
I went into the developer options and unticked use Nuplayer, rebooted, that got it working for a while before it stopped again.
Ticking and unticking that box now has no effect.
Nexus 9 on 5.0.1
I see I am not the only one that has this issue. I did notice that if you hit the settings icon lower right corner of the screen. You have an option to select quality which doesn't seem to stick. But it also has a youtube link that if you tap, takes you to the youtube app and plays the video just fine through the youtube app itself.
Also when listening to music through the google play music app, when it has an option to play the music video, the same thing happens .
I have tried messing with the NuPlayer and AwesomePlayer, rebooting etc. and can only get 1 video to play before its back to not playing again.
I saw that a similar issue was reported to google where no videos could be played but this seems different? Can anyone confirm if its the same or different? and/or if google is working on a fix?
Exact same issue here on Nexus 9. Videos play for about half a second then stop. This happens in Google Play store previews, and Google Music videos. I have tried everything, including restarts, clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling all related apps, adjusting Nuplayer setting, and even factory reset. My Nexus 5 has no problems, so it's clearly a Nexus 9 bug. I tried contacting Google and they gave me the typical 'turn your tablet off by holding the power button for a whooooole 2 seconds....' response. I'm a long time Nexus fan, but I do get tired of these bugs.
Anyone found a solution?
It's not just a Nexus 9 problem, I'd already posted it doesn't work on my Shield tablet and I upgraded my old N7 2012 to 5.0.2 yesterday and it doesn't work on that either.
I don't think there is any solution sadly.
Just uninstall latest youtube update from playstore and it will work fine again.
Stupid google didn't fix this issue yet.
Wow, uninstalling youtube updates actually did work! Thanks!
Worked for me too, thank you
Yup Really puzzles me why google didn't fix this yet.
My back cover was also flexing a bit around middle and upper right (when looking from the back side). That was a pretty easy fix. Now its solid as a rock. If anyone has that problem I could upload a fix on youtube.
Besides above problems, I absolutely love this device.. Imo it's hand down the best android tablet to date, despite these flaws.
If you upgrade to YouTube v10, this will also fox the problem.
If you don't see the update in the Play Store you can download it from APK Mirror.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-10-02-3-apk/
Yes, I can confirm this. Installed latest YouTube update from the Play Store (10.03), now demo videos play fine.
Sent from my Nexus 9
