Hi guys,
I have a strange issue with my Alpha.
I bought this case - cannot paste link (spam lol) - Samsung Flip Case Cover for Samsung Galaxy Alpha - Black
Now, this case replaces the original backplate and has contacts on the inside to (I guess) activate the hall sensor that detects whether the case is open (wake up) or closed (sleep). So far so good, everything working as indented.
Now the problem is that when the case is closed and I get called, it vibrates only once (if in silent mode)
When I use normal mode the ringtone functions normal but still, it vibrates only once, like 2 seconds, then is should pause for a sec and vibrate again, like every damn phone does.
The funny thing is that when I open/remove the case, it works perfectly fine, it vibrates in perfect interval.
What I noticed is that with the case applied and closed, after the first vibration you can barley feel a short vibration, every second or so, which seems like it tries to vibrate but hasn't enough power. SMS - and other notification vibrations work fine.
It is rooted, but this issue also occured on stock.
I hope it was somewhat clear
Thanks!

During a call, if I keep my HTC Hero close to my ear the touchscreen becomes none responsive, meaning I can't touch stuff by mistake. If I take my phone away from my ear, I can touch the screen again.
Which is fine. This is how it's supposed to work but there's a problem:
If a call lasts longer than 1 minute (or however long you set your phone to automatically go on stand by) the screen goes dark, which is fine in most cases but sometimes you need to look through your phonebook during a call or put the person you're talking to on hold so you can answer another incoming call, etc.
Of course you can just press a key and the screen lits up again and you can do all the above mentioned, but pressing a key like the "Reject button" (which normally unlocks your screen) will not only lit up the screen but also cancel your ongoing call.
Similar to that pressing any key might also have an undesired action, which can make any during call operations frustrating.
Can the screen be configured to behave like the iPhone's (or Nokia's touchscreen phones for that matter)? Meaning when the sensor detects the phone is close to something (like your ear) the screen goes dark to save power and it becomes non responsive, but when you take it away from your ear the screen lits up and becomes responsive again?
The change isn't that dramatic, go dark instead of just becoming unresponsive (waiting 1 min to go dark) and lit up again when the phone is no longer close to something, instead of remaining dark.

Take a look at the app "proximity sensor" as the hero doesn't have such a sensor. The app uses the light sensor to emulate it

I took a look at the app online, I'll try it out.
I didn't know the Hero didn't have a proximity sensor but whatever 2.1 does it does it well, I don't accidentally press anything, the touchscreen gets disabled.
I'm upset about the fact that the screen stays on and goes to standby after a while instead of being dark when the phone is near my ear and lit up when it's not.
The phone knows when it's close to something, it deactivates touch input, I just wanted it to also turn off the screen and turn it back on when it's not close to anything.
Hi
I'm using SG2 on KF3 india stock firmware
I noticed a weird bug,
When vibration is set to always on mode, and Motion controls (Turn over) are set to On, when the phone is place on flat surface like sofa, bed, pillow or anyother flat surface, there is no sound or vibration for incoming call and messages.
if at all that comes, vibration or sound is coming only for 1-2 sec, then phone goes to silent
This happeing with Vibration only in silent mode also, once in a while its completely vibrating ,other wise phone vibrating for two times then going to silent mode
When Turn Over setting in Motion is disabled, then its completely fine,
is this normal with Turn Over feature, If yes, then i'm done with motion controls
Its so annoying for me,as i need vibration always, coz when phone is trouser pocket, ringtone is not audible,so i need vibration to know for sms and incoming calls, in this case, when phone is on sofa or bed,i'm completely blindfolded about my calls and sms as there is no ringtone
anyway to get this over?
Any one else faced this issue?
No, I do not have this problem.
I have also both turned on - vibration and motion controls.
Do you have tested the turn over in settings - motion controls - turn over?
And do you already tried to calibrate sensors?
In settings - display - horizontal calibration and gyro-sensor calibration.
If this does not help, you really should set priority and use silent mode.
Same here
I've the same issue..
Im on xxkh3 right now. I've tried calibrating and also Ive tested several different versions of firmware. Nothing changed.
It's quite annoying, knowing that only some of us have this, makes it worse. Maybe it is a hadrware defect??
Edit : BTW, there is already a thread for this :

I have 2.2 stock OS, been working fine for long time, but last weekend I dropped the phone. Since then (I have powered off/on and taken battery out a couple times but no difference), the phone no longer recieves phone calls -- no ring or missed call notification; callers get sent to voicemail after 1-2 rings, and the voicemail notification does show up immediately.
2 other symptoms are that the lock screen no longer displays (phone goes straight to home screen when I press the power button), and pressing the power button for a second only shows me the Power Off option (previously it had options for Airplane mode and Data Off as well).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Shaun
That's weird. I'd flash a different ROM and see if it works then. I have no idea why it would power up and skip the lock screen.
For the phones calls I'd think may e it messed up the SIM reader. Maybe its fitting in there funny now, or maybe its broken altogether. Maybe a fresh install of something would alleviate some symptoms and give us a clue as to what really is going on.
You were just sliced bread before you were burnt by the toaster.
I'm running Dirty Unicorns ROM v3.9. It's based on AOKP 4.31. I don't have enough posts to ask this directly in the devs thread but I can't find an answer to my problem. Here is my situation. I typically leave my phone on full volume with vibration. However, since I've been running this ROM (about a week now) my phone randomly toggles into vibrate only mode so that I don't hear my phone ringing or any notifications. It only vibrates, which isn't terrible as long as its in my pocket or on my desk right in front of me so that I can feel it or see it vibrating. But even worse is that sometimes it toggles itself into silent mode so that not only doesn't it make any noise but it doesn't even vibrate, so that I have no way of knowing when I receive a call or message unless the phone is right in front of me so that I see it wake up when a call or message is coming in. If I'm running around for several hours with my phone in my pocket, I have to remember to pull out my phone and look at it periodically to make sure I didn't miss anything important. This would probably be a deal breaker if the ROM wasn't so awesome otherwise. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.
Note 4 - How to stop screen from displaying/unlocking during & after notifications &
Hi all.
Two problems here which I'm presuming have the same fix.
1) This happens when I'm using the phone, say, listening to music via Bluetooth headset. When I receive a message or email, the screen will automatically light up to the unlock screen showing a notification pop up that I have a message. Because the phone is in my pocket and the screen is swipe unlocked, which I prefer, it is highly likely that the phone will unlock fully - so by the time I look at the phone it's done all sorts of things I didn't want.
2) When answering a phone call, the screen obviously lights up as normal. I have set it up so that when the phone is upright the screen will go blank. But, when I have finished a call using the headset, the screen comes back on again and shows the contact and because the phone is unlocked it ends up doing things I didn't want.
Please can someone tell me how to keep the screen off during and after a phone call or notification!
Is there a code to write or delete that can make it so that when I receive a phone call or notification I must press the power button to display the screen like I normally do to see the time?
Any assistance is very much appreciated!
Thanks
