Hello,
I just bought an hero and order the code on ebay and I insert a non telus sim card inside and I don t get the unlock menu where you need to enter the code.
the phone runs vilainrom5.5, I guess it is missing in the firmware, is there a way I can do or I need to flash it back to telus rom ?
if yes then where I can find this rom, I did not find it anywhere, google, here, htc website, telus website
thank you very much
That happened to me. Had to revert to a 1.5 ROM.
- Backup your 2.1 ROM
- Flash a 1.5 ROM
- Reboot
- Unlock
- Restore your 2.1 ROM
That's it.
Thread Moved to Q&A.
VillainROM 5.5 is based on a CDMA ROM, so unlocking wouldn't work, since those unlock codes are for GSM phones. I'd bet you could try a 2.1 ROM based on a GSM dump.
before I brick my phone, I am still looking for the original telus 1.5 gsm rom, is there a link someone can send me ? I went on telus website, here, google, htc and did not find the original firmware of telus
Or maybe someone can tell me which gsm rom would allow me to unlock it
phone is sitting in a box as I have a fido card :-(
thank you

It is based on a cdma Rom too. Try an old 1.5 one like modaco

I'm selling my Sprint Note 3 that I had rooted before the lollipop upgrade. Since then I put a lollipop rom on it.
Two stupid noobie questions that I couldn't find answers to when I searched ..
1. Since I'm rooted am I also unlocked ... can he use an att Sim card and use it on att?
2. Do I need a specific rom that would make this possible ... or is there a way to test it to prove to him that it works?
Thanks for the answers.
Just FYI... There's a difference between unlocked carrier and unlocked boot loader.
You do not need a custom ROM to use another Sim card, but you need to unlock the carrier on the phone
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Is there a way to tell if I did a carrier unlock? I don't really even remember what method I used to root it.
You unlock the boot loader to flash a custom rom?
To sim unlock you would have had to run SSU.app or GT.app to international unlock then odined a older radio mj4 or mi3. Then change the APNs to match the carrier's settings for internet and mms messages.
I called sprint and got the master unlock codes ... is there an easy way to unlock it now that I have those?
hi, im obviously do not belong in these section but anyways, my friend had a s3 and its from verizon i think. since verizon sim does not work here in the philippines, i wanted to know if simunlock is already included in custom roms or do i need to simunlock the phone then flash rom again or stuff like that. thanks in advance
Hey I've never had a sim unlock device, my friend has a verizon s4 unlocked for tmobile she is still running on either Gingerbread or something that's very old lbs. I was wondering if I root and flash an updated rom with no bloat will it still work on tmobile? also can i flash tmobile roms or only verizon?

Verizon phones typically have unlockable bootloaders.
If you have the MDK build you can unlock the bootloader, flash custom recoveries, roms, etc. root and such. You would need to become familiar with using Odin. From your post it would seem you are confusing sim unlock with bootloader unlock. Sim unlocked merely means you can use the phone with any service providers. Provided the radios are compatible.
If the build is other than MDK you may be able to use Safestrap to load custom roms.
All tricky. Do a lot of research first.
All galaxy phones s3 s4 s5 s6 etc are world unlocked you can put a any Sim card in it and it will switch to global network your carriers will not tell you this information
..I was already told by a friend in xda group that if I again flash a stock rom in my sm-900p phone which I got unlocked for international GSM use (using from India) , it won't get locked again ...with all due respect to the friend who affirmed me already that it won't get locked ,can anyone else confirm that to me please ? I am not able to dare to flash the stock rom....since two days I am just waiting to take that step..presently I am using darkwolf rom but I want to flash with stock rom so that bootloader and modem gets updated and then on that version,I will flash this rom again ..that's my plan
It will not relock for international use. If it does for some reason, you can use Galaxy Tools to unlock again, assuming you root. But if it was originally unlocked either officially with Sprint or via root + Galaxy Tools, then it won't relock. If you were in the US, you would have to change some other settings to re-enable domestic unlock but international sticks.
