i need info from u guys.in a few days am gonna get galaxy s2 I9100 handset (but NOT I9100G)
2days back THE G version handsets started getting 4.1.2 JB verison .soon NON G handsets also wil getting the same 4.1.2 .
now i would lik to know whether these S2 handsets gonna get 4.2 JB in the coming future or not.
pls reply if u have info regarding this.
i googled but didnt get any official news.

I don't think so..because usually Samsung only support their phones for 18 month only if i'm not mistaken..

this S2 announced in feb 2011 n released into market in april 2011.
so already it been 22 months n still we S2 users getting JB 4.1.2 UPDATE
am from INDIA.i received 2day JB update.so i asked for 4.2 JB update chances in future..
so now u cant say sure that they wil withdraw updatae support to S2.
i hope in future S2 wil get 4.2 JB
but i need official info.so created this thread.thank u

No he could definitly not state that for sure, because there is no such thing as a final official confirmation about the subject. Samsung won't read this thread and isn't going to reply here. But you can assume for now there isn't going to be a 4.2-update.

But this update is recomended? Does it have any problem, or lag, or Samsung fixed it on the update?
Please tell me if it is correct to update my mobile or not.

For me it lagged extreme!

ROM: CyanogenMod 11 (Temasek Unofficial V36 )
Kernel: Boeffla-Kernel-CM11-2.1-Beta9-
Version UGML4 is fine, a slight lag on waking from deep sleep but battery life is excellent.

In that topic they only talk about custom updates, rooting, or recovery. Not about the official update I am looking for...

One what model phone do you have .
Two multiple identical posts on the forum re 4.3 and yes some have a problem others do not .

Update your phone via a "SMART TERMINAL" or KIES.
I updated via OTA when I got home. The update went smooth... but the phone got awful slow/laggy/terrible.
A few days passed and I found a Samsung shop. Went in and saw an "update terminal."
After it finished, the phone was buttery smooth again.
Please note, that encryption will be MUCH SLOWER. So you cannot use it encrypted anymore. At least not like you used it. It will lag, it will stutter, all the crap you can imagine. Lucky I have insurance and I use a powerful password. So even if I get robbed I can reset the phone from home and get a new phone for cheap.
But yeah, I do miss the encryption feature, I felt safer that way. But it just got way too slow.
I even took the phone back to Samsung as in warranty repair, but they told me the policy says they can't downgrade so they just pushed up the 4.3 rom all over again. Meh.

I upgraded about 3 weeks ago now and i have had no problems whatsoever, I guess i was a lucky one ive heard all sorts of problems with this update i just cant wait until 4.4 comes that's if it ever does!

Hi Guys
I'm relatively new to the world of ROM's and have over the pas few days successfully installed a GPE 5.1 ROM onto my i9505 (s4). All is running great however this morning I received a notification for an update from LMY470.S008.151101 to LMY470.S008.151202.
Question is this safe to do or should I stear clear of these updates as it might Brick my Phone ?
Sorry for the Noob question but thought I would check before doing anything.
