Video camera freezing - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all I'm running cm11 on galaxy s2 i9100 and the video in the camera app keeps freezing I've updated a few times now with new nightlys thinking it would help but alas its still the same. The camera itself works. This is the bug report I keep sending. Then again maybe its just my phone? Anyone any suggestions??? The only thing I do notice is no video on any camera app will work. I've tried a few and the same thing the video freezes?? But the camera works. At thoughts would be great full.
Thanks

Hi, I've just subscribed in this forum to look for some answers about the same issue you are having. I think it's a galaxy s2 problem the camera freezing and the whole phone too.
When we flash, at the first week, it works great, but after, the problems begin. I don't know if CM jelly bean version works better, I'll give it a shot later just to try...

same problem here since a few weeks now running on 11-20141123-nightly-i9100
kernel 3.0.64-CM-g22cbf2c

Debug Symbols for Stock UCKK6?

I have an app that is crashing with a SIGSEGV and have a stack trace that points deep into the guts of the system. I'm wondering if anyone has debug symbols to match the stock UCKK6 ROM? In particular, libskia.so and libandroid_runtime.so. For those that may be interested, that stack trace looks like:
Code:

Maybe some people think Q/A = Quit asking, so they then move to the next best place.
Or maybe they... Nope, that is the only logical answer to all of these threads.
Edit: I'm am sorry this was an actual dev question. I hope you get an answer.

This is quite a bit more technical than other questions - but still, it's a question.
Unfortunately, you're not going to find debug symbols for a stock firmware if they aren't already included. Try to reproduce the problem with CM7.
Edit: If this app is one YOU are writing, then this does belong in Development. If it's someone else's app you're having a problem with, it doesn't. Given the lack of detail on the app in question, I'm assuming it's not one you're developing, since an app developer would have had MUCH more detail.
Entropy..
this is an app I'm developing... and struggling with. I will move this to Q/A if that makes sense. Given that it was low-level information, I thought this was the right spot, so I apologize that I came here.
Note that I've been having this trouble for a while and had no luck on CM7 either (see http://www.setera.org/2011/12/27/deadlocked/). I actually have a CM7 build for Captivate on my laptop, but not for GSII. On Captivate the crash was intermittent. On GSII it seems pretty consistent which has me hopeful I might finally get to the bottom of this.
Since it was an app you were developing, it could've remained in Dev. Oh well, it's OK here.
I'll try and see if there's any better way to debug something like that. Interesting, an app shouldn't be causing stuff in /system to crash. (Unless you're doing native development.)
Technically, despite the deep technical level of the question, at this point, it is still a question.
To be totally valid for the Dev forum, it must be phone development related. Unless it is a Kernel, Rom, or Rooting/Flashing/Unlocking specific app, it still would not belong in Dev; the appropriate place would be the app forum.
To be clear, this crash is not from native code that I'm writing. Something I'm doing via Dalvik is triggering the crash.
On a whim I attempted to use the debug symbols from my CM7 build. I had hoped that it would be close enough to stock that it would tell me something. It is clearly not quite right, but I thought others may have some thoughts based on this information. I figured it couldn't hurt to see if others had any ideas.
My application uses the AndEngine SVG support to convert SVG to Android Picture objects. My theory from the beginning is that there is something strange going on inside of the Picture class handling. Thus, the entries in libskia.so look reasonable (if not completely accurate).
Thoughts or ideas more than welcome!
Thanks,
Craig

It appears that this is somehow related to the garbage collector. I can consistently get the crash on my GS II and every time it happens, it is proceeded by a GC.
Does this ring any bells? Does anyone have thoughts on how to work around this problem?
Thanks,
Craig

Is there any use in opening up a bug report with anyone (Samsung and/or Google)? I've tried a number of different things to change the memory usage pattern including explicit forced GC, but nothing seems to work.

application crashes when trying loadLibrary(), issue with pthread_create on 4.1.1?

I am trying to debug a crash with trying to load a library that I cross-compiled using System.loadLibrary(). I have been able to successfully load this library on any device running 4.0.4 (ICS), but it crashes on all of my devices running 4.1.1 (JB). It seems to crash when running in to pthread_create() in libc:
Code:
10-01 14:25:34.173: D/dalvikvm(8215): Trying to load lib /data/data/com.gnychis.awmon/lib/libtshark.so 0x410fb430

// And here is the end of the stack....
I/DEBUG ( 246): #10 pc 0001263c /system/lib/libc.so (pthread_create+180)
Here is the much longer crash log that is involved showing the entire stack trace, and you will see it ends at libc and pthread_create:
Code:

The interesting thing is that if I use arm-eabi-objdump on the library, the address 1263c seems to be when it tries to do a pthread_clone:
Code:
$ arm-eabi-objdump -S /tmp/libc.so | grep 1263c
1263c: ebffed71 bl dc08 <__pthread_clone>
Does anyone have any insight as to why this would not be working on 4.1.1? Also, why does my "Build fingerprint" at the top of my crash log show:
Code:
Build fingerprint: 'd2uc-user 4.0.4'
Could this be the root issue of why it's not running on 4.1.1? I am using the newest NDK (r8b), with android-14 as the platform with the arm-eabi-4.4.3 toolchain.
Thanks so much for any help/guidance.

emulator building for GT-I9300 in Ubuntu 10.04

Hi,
I downloaded AOSP 4.0.4 and merge with GT-I9300_ICS_Opensource.zip in http://opensource.samsung.com, then built the platform without issues.
But when I start the emulator, it hangs and shows Android logo.
Anyone can help me to solve this problem?

maybe you can find a little more help if you post the thread in this section i hope you will find a solution for your problem! (will be nice to try the rom)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
Thank for your answerI try to open a thread in that section and all the possessors of moto E will enjoy certainly this rom after i solved the theme app problem...or if i have tried everything to solve the issue but i didn't succeed
yeah i would love to have this rom on my device so please can you try to open up the thread.
try replace this files with from stockrom
/system/bin/app_process
/system/bin/debuggerd
/system/bin/dexopt
kowakx nice to see you again in this forum. To port this rom to our device i tried also to compile your patchrom but without success. As stock rom I used your precompiled version used for your patchrom.
I use the files of stockrom i used this guide to port the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-build-port-miui-rom-to-device-t3250984
my patchrom sources need a lot of update to work again, i'm planning to use patchrom in AOSP rom but i need to work on RIL in base rom
AOSP 4.4? Is there the rom?
Oh one other thing...when i try to make a call there is a message "voice calls not supported"...any ideas to solve this issue?
yes i build aosp from source after replace some files from cyanogenmod.
for voice call try this patch: https://github.com/ElKowak/patchrom_condor/blob/rework/TeleService/diff.patch
Thank you worked!!! But incallui isn't working this isn't so important. The worst problem right now is the theme manager app that oblige me to install another miui rom to bypass the initial setup because there is a step where is necessary to have the theme manager app working
try this patch for theme https://github.com/ElKowak/patchrom_condor/blob/rework/miuisystem/drm.patch
Thank you for your help...now I can't try this patch (here is 8:39 PM) i will try tomorrow evening and i will tell you certainly if it worked
did u test it out and did it work
i would like to help as well
I'm having problems in recompiling miuisystem.apk but i think that i will solve them. I will tell you later if i succeeded in 😀
kowakx I have tried your patch and didn't worked :°°(
Ah i forgot to tell you that also "updater" and "backup" fc have a similar log with the same backtrace
try this specific patch for thememanager https://github.com/garyyiu2015/miui7_patchrom_PANTECH_IM-A860/blob/msm-aosp/ThemeManager/crack_MIUI_theme.patch
do you will upload you patchrom source on github?
