Hello! I'd like to ask the community about something I've been interested doing as a project for a phone I plan on buying, I've looked around and I see lots of tutorials, but they don't quite meet the very specific criteria.
My problem is that I want to buy the "Umi C1" (click click for more info o: ) and the UI on the Stock ROM is awful.
I've looked around and there's apparently a way to modify ROMs using another phone's ROM files.
I was thinking of using the "HDC ONE M8's"(fake HTC one m8) ROM files and transferring them over to the C1's ROM file. (Both phones run the MTK6582 SOC, both have 1GB of RAM, Both have 16GB of storage, both run 1280x720P panels...)
Is this in anyway possible? Both roms are Odexed. (new to this, looked around on how to deodex roms and found a tutorial but I'm not sure how things will go first.)

Hello!
You can't move the whole content of a ROM made for a specific model, to another ROM made specific for a different model.
The reason for this is because the ROM also contains native libraries (drivers) that are specific to the hardware of the phone, and are not specific to the Android base code.
In other words, you would need to port the UI and framework only, not simply move all the files and even this is not very straightforward unfortunately. If you only want some minor (or major) changes of the home screen and application menu, then there are plenty of third party launchers on the market that should do the trick for you.
I hope this helped you.
Regards, Christopher

Hi.. Just installed the update 4.1.A.0.562 on my Ray.. Officially, through update service..
Although all those exciting things are missing, like the People app, zero shutter lag in camera, and many other visual related stuff..
I mean, its all shown on the official page...
Anyways, I'm a rooter!! Any place where i can find these additions? Especially the People app..

I'm dying to get my hands on it..
Wonderful i too need to know! Hope someone replies soon!!!
Also no Nova Launcher....... (thats what its called on the Market..)
I guess all these are available on Android 4.0.4... I need the apks...
Camera...could that be dependable of the hardware also?
Other than that, SE has made quite a lots of modifications there, to keep their Timescape UI the most important one there.
Ok!! I got a Nexus ROM which has the required contacts.apk...
Now, i just need to know, how do i install it? Like, i know, its meant to be pushed.. but what are the other apps that need to be pushed along with it? ContactsProvider.apk or something?
Zero shater lag is hardware related . Not getting it with update
And u can't install people app
You should get an aosp or cm9 rom
DOes CM9 have the people app? Frankly, thats the only one i'm after...
camera? no problem..
So i got a MK802 android 4.0 USB stick and have it set up on my bedroom tv.
I can choose and tweak, to use a setup with Android settings as a big phone a regular phone or a tablet. But i was hoping that there was something like a TV launcher. I have found a project on github (see link below) but have no idea if it will work on 4.0 or even if it is what i am looking for.
I was hoping someone knew of a tv friendly launcher.
For example i really like the look of something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwpgPP0ncAo&feature
It would be way more useful for my purpose, than the standard android os.

I have not seen it yet, but maybe someone could help me by compiling an APK from this:
https://github.com/rharter/Android-TV-Launcher
As far as i can tell from reading,it seems to be somewhat what i am looking for.
Don't take this the wrong way but did you explore the github page you linked to?
There is a compiled version in its bin files section with the word debug in the filename and it does work. At least on gb as I just installed and checked before replying.
It simply shows every app on the device but in one easy to navigate strip across middle of the screen but download it and see if it is what you need

Oh my thats embarrasing. But thanks.
I wrote the developer but he sadly gave up on the project. I would love to just to be able to select which apps that shows up in the launcher. Thqt should be a small adition to add an app drawer and a selction of which apps to appear in the launcher. Oh well.. My search continues. I just don't have any idea where to go from here
Hi,
As the title suggests, I am looking to add the ability to charge my device at the same time as using USB OTG. The device in question is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 LTE (SM-T235).
Let me start by saying this is my first step into android development, so I'm currently just Googling everything and attempting to follow some guides I found, but I'm still unable to work out which files I need to edit before compiling.
I have downloaded the latest kernel sources from the Samsung development website, extracted them and downloaded toolchain, as per THIS guide.
I have then been attempting to copy the process used HERE to enable the feature, but as that applied to the OPO, I assume the process is slightly different for the Galaxy Tab. I've searched for all the files that contain OTG and there's a lot of them, I can't work out what I need to edit. See screenshot:

}
(For some reason I have tried 3 different image hosts and it isn't showing up so screenshot has been attached as well.
I have uploaded the contents of the drivers/usb folder from the kernel sources at the following like:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9o8Fezf-53KY0dKUlhZc2VmNGc
If anyone has the time and knowledge to have a look at this and help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I would like to use my Tab 4 as usb host too. Does OTG without charging work with your SM-T235, @crumble6 ? If yes, maybe this supply would work.
Hey guys, after several research and various holes in the water I open this theard to ask if anyone knows a way to get the keyboard used in twrp recovery .. I know, there are keyboards like "hacker's keyboard" but the one used in twrp is simple and looks awsome.
Is there a way to transport it in apk or zip to flash?
Thanks

Hi,
This is probably what you're looking for: https://github.com/mgood7123/TWRP-Team-Win-Recovery-Project-Keyboard/releases. Seems to be in early development.

Hi,
The keyboard itself seems to work, and it doesnt request any permissions, so it should be safe to use. Its just currently incomplete. I typed this post with it.

I think developer didn't complete that app because it has some bugs. Let's wait stable version.
I love the twrp recovery keyboard. Very simple, bright white and dark layout, simply awesome. I have been searching it for long time. Please guys help us to get that keyboard.
I'm fascinated with whatever you can do with devices t these days and it's turned into a new hobby and might wanna turn it into a business or a side thing just for fun. I'm researching on the best legit flash tools and repair softwares to download on pc where I can use it on different devices and unlimited times. Anything but Apple products is what I like working on Extra I'm also curious is there any other softwares for pc or even apps that do cool stuff I don't care if it's unlocking, spy stuff, rooting, productivity, etc I'm just getting into all this and love researching and playing around on old devices I buy. And maybe after testing and seeing what I like to open some kind of store or something to help others out too. :good: thanks everyone.

How do I know if it's a legit or safe site to download since ggl is such a huge search engine? Just stay with the oem/ carriers downloads and certain trusted sites like xda, tenoshsre, drphon, or listed on this site?

Again I'm all new to this so I appreciate your patience and knowledge
@GotIt87
Because you obviously aren't willing to do both the related searches and the verification whether the results found are legit ones or not at your own, for whatever reason, you can start with this ALL-IN-ONE Windows app: Miracle Thunder
