Loving my z3, although bothered by the onscreen key real estate sometimes. And not looking to root.
I've discovered Javelin - which is and excellent browser that offers both full screen AND immersive mode.
But looking for others. Utility apps, games, whatever. Any recommendations?
Would love an sms app with this feature if one exists.......
Easiest way would be if Sony added, a function like the LG G3 where you have to swipe up from bottom to get Navbar, when you enable it for certain apps.
Yep agreed. Trust me it is much better now in this version of android than previous, where that stupidly huge bar was there all the time, at least now many apps go to the full screen mode completely hiding it
I've installed Immersive Mode app and it solved this bar problem with any app (per app configurable).

Which immersive mode app? There are multiple ones.
I've installed this one. Mainly because it has tasker support and cheaper.
Using showbox on my Xperia z3, put cable in to watch on my TV but won't give me a full screen just a box? How can I fix ths

Now something I feel bothered with, I see on youtube that this soft menu buttons stays even in games, pretty much anywhere...
So following my study, how to make the LG G2 perfect in terms of screen space utilization and avoid loosing so much space due to the soft buttons (your own risk):

Does the app allow you to reduce the size of the navigation bar? I'd like to make it slightly smaller. If not, does anyone know of an app or method that does allow this?
Thanks
The international version has the auto hide function built in through an update. Verizon is probably just being a hard case and holding the update for their G2s.

WHATTTTT!!?!?! Seriously?!?! That would be sick!
Please elaborate and provide screenshot of these settings!
Thank you!
Basically, you select the apps that you want it hidden when in use. It should've been a default feature but I'll take the OTA if it's a quick fix. Not sure if it's like auto-hide key app where you can swipe up. I think it's more permanent (hidden or visible) with no middle ground.

So I tried it out, and you can adjust the size with the auto hide bar, but not the static (default) navigation bar. I kind of like the auto hide and may keep it, but if I can find a way to just reduce the height of the stock bar I may prefer that.

I vote for some pie app or custom rom with builtin pie.
You can set it on bottom or side of screen or both. Revolution of big screen and one hand use! I allso bought that gmd autohide softkeys app but nevergoing back.
Customrom, fullscreen mode and pie control!
Best thing since 1st android!

I'm always looking for new apps or mods as it's fun to tinker your phone to just how you like it
Navbar animations:
Plays a little animation when you hit the home button and there's loads of options to choose from.
Rocker locker:
Makes it so when you hit the volume keys it changes the media volume instead of ringer on default.
Quick keyboard Viet:
After coming from iPhone I really missed being able to swipe along the keyboard for cursor control. This app allows that
I know Google keyboard allows spacebar for that but I'm super picky haha!

Heads up, Rocker Locker plays a low volume white noise constantly keeping your device awake and draining the battery. This tricks the phone into thinking music is playing so you always control media.

Here are a list of good custom launchers:
Nova Launcher
Lawnchair Launcher
Action Launcher
ADW 2
Pear Launcher
Lean Launcher
Unfortunately now of them work as well as stock pixel Launcher. But they are way more customizable ?
Fingerprint Swipes: I've configured swipe up to switch between apps, swipe down for recent apps and swipe left for back
Navbar Apps: changes the color of the navbar. I've set it to change based on the app open (tbh I installed it to reduce burn in but it's nice to see the navbar change color)
Nwsty: Shows you the top 5-6 news for the day. Not too much detail. It doesn't let you expand on the news in the app. You'd have to google them yourselves. Great app if you just want to see what the top news is about.
Fleksy keyboard: gesture based keyboard. Super fast for typing. I believe the fastest message(or something) was recorded on this keyboard..

Can't believe how convenient this is; I've only had it for about 12 hours but I'm already asking myself how I went this long without it lol
I was annoyed by nova (and other) launchers delaying the launch of an app. There was a noticeable delay whenever I'd launch from the home screen.
For those that want their phone lightning fast, but also want a better launcher than the pixel launcher, here is an xposed mod that fixes it. The thread explains the how and why, but I assure you my phone has never been so fast.
Enjoy.

It's subtle. I use a swipe launcher and when I'd use the pixel launcher with it, the apps from the pixel launcher ran immediately and the apps from the swipe launcher delayed, or vice versa. I started messing with it and found it somehow related to the home screen. It also exhibits when running shortcuts.
So I ran into this - (pretty sweet nav bar replacement) https://www.xda-developers.com/navigation-gestures-update-app-launch-android-p/
and the author says if you run into delays use thatx xposed module. I did and all the delays were eliminated.
I'm not on something - you might not notice it until it's gone. Unless you don't run xposed, then maybe it's more work. Give it a try... or don't. Made a difference for me.

Beyond that have no idea.

Edge gestures is pretty nice. Way simpler than everywhere launcher. I set left to home, right to back, and up to recents.
I launch from the launcher, so no delays regardless. I went to a completely launcher only solution when I went to pie, as no xposed.

Sweet . I'm hiding my nav bar completely using navigation gestures (pill is hidden too) and using Edge gestures as my nav. Swipe right for home, swipe left for back (hold for previous app), up for home (hold for recents).
So nice to have 0 real estate for nav.

Since available I'm on permanent immersive mode. In RICE I have 0px for navigation bar height too. Also for about 3 years I'd prefer only gestures navigation method. Since I switched back from iOS (almost 5 years) and BB10 OS (dead) I can't imagine using my phone without gestures. Of course as a die hard Blackberry user I had a never ending ROTFL when Apple "reinvented" gestures navigation for iPhone X. My phone needs to be MINE!
Is there any mod or anyone who can develop oneplus gestures available for 5t or 6 for lg v30 instead of navbar?

Hello all!
I've seen it somewhat posted throughout the comments here but no thread on it directly. I figure the potential of this this deserves it's own thread and tutorial for those who are coming from Google to try and do exactly this without reading through a few threads.
Anyways:
How to enable Wide View on every app:
Download this app,G8x WideMode.
This puts a new icon in the top bar in the notification shade. If you don't see it, pull down twice and hit the pencil to edit the icons. Find the new one and place it somewhere near the top to keep it close by.
When the dual screen is open, tapping that will force wide screen in every app! There are some limitations:
Intent changes seem to revert the phone back to two separate pages. For instance, the mobile Reddit app Sync closes wide screen if I click any link to an external picture, video or site.
Some apps do f play nice in wide screen due to this, and you can't keep the phone permanently in the mode like a tablet, but it's a great improvement to a great phone idea.
This is super simple so I didn't think pictures were necessary, but let me know if I wasn't clear on anything or if you have problems somewhere!
This is very much appreciated! It works like a charm. It's not the floating dual screen thingy but the toggle buttons that you swipe down from the top. Make sure you add it.
Hey, this app seems to work great! I did have an issue with one app called Steam Link. Steam Link allows you to connect to a computer running Steam and remotely control it from your Android device. When I launch a game and try to use WideMode the Steam Link app refreshes and goes back to a single screen. I would love to be able to play some of my steam games over both screens.

auto rotation did not work because some apps are forced landscape/portrait.
I did end up using the rotation control app with the per-app conditions. :good:
Next nice thing would be if some apps would restart at the new resolution, instead of stretching the single-screen app - some apps/games work perfectly, but others don't (and I think they should have a similar resolution compatible because I've used the axon M, which has "dual screen" retained through home with those apps).
