RIN Kernel for LS990
Close to stock with some sugar added ... delicious!
WARNING
This is a disclaimer: While this has been tested I am not responsible for ANY damage done to your device. I take no responsibility for bootloops, soft bricks, hard bricks, living brick monsters, your phone proving an omnipotent being fallible(thus negating all existence), your great aunt smoking bath salts, flying monkeys, hot pockets, obamacare, dingleberries, carnivorous dingleberries or Sundays. Your warranty is now void and it's your fault!Use at your own risk!!
Secondary disclaimer: If you have carnivorous dingleberries then you have bigger problems to worry about - but for any phone related questions feel free to message me on here either privately or in the thread.
I will be building and maintaining Tectas' Rin Kernel for the Sprint LG G3 LS990. The majority of the credit for this goes to him, please make sure you thank him - he's awesome!
Straight from the man himself:
Hey guys and girls,
you may have seen my unified stock kernel thread already (or may not, but doesn't matter). This kernel is my attempt to build up on the fixed source and add some additional features for us mod lovers to thinker with and to personalize your device to your usage. For now, I'll keep it close to my stock source and just pull some additional features and fixes in, but not to much. That may change in the future (maybe even soon), but for now, I'll stick to that paradigm.
What does it serve? (Features)

Any questions? (FAQ)
How can I toggle the android logger?
File Explorer Method:
Go with a root explorer to /sys/kernel/logger_mode and open the logger_mode file.
Remove everything inside that file and put the number 1 to enable and 0 to disable the logger into it and save the file.
Terminal Method:
Enable the logger
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/logger_mode/logger_mode
Disable the logger
Code:
echo 0 > /sys/kernel/logger_mode/logger_mode
My internal sd is not working, what to do?
Open adb shell or a terminal emulator and type
Code:
su
restorecon -v -R /data/media
In settings my kernel still shows 3.4.0, what gives?
If using g3tweaksbox(found here) go to misc tweaks and at the bottom click show extended kernel info and reboot.
OR
Using a kernel tuner(Fauxclock found here or Trickstermod found here) it will show in the kernel info there.

Yay!! Nice work!

So I flashed this over the Barren ROM Deodexed v3 and upon rebooting I get the bright green screen saying Demigod Crash Handler: HW Reset. After that I was unable to get into recovery and the only way to get the phone working again is by using LG flashtools to go back to stock. I tried flashing the kernel twice redownloading it and checking the md5 each time. I had no mods other than what was included with the ROM as I had just flashed it, booted it up and flashed the kernel, wiped cache, and then rebooted again.
Grabbing this right now.. With engine rom and this.. Wow

I've been running it for a few hours. Only problems I've had were due to undervolting. Runs great. I wish someone had some advice on settings. I'm using trickster mod. Thanks all.
That is extremely weird. I've been running it for a day and no issues.

leanKernel is not for everyone. My philosophy is to keep the kernel footprint as small as possible by trimming as much fat as possible, and at the same time keeping it stable, power efficient, and fast. You will find that it's lacking some of the bells and whistles of other custom kernels, so if you like features you came to the wrong thread.
The "warranty bit" message at boot is normal.

Here's another beta update (0.4b): http://androtransfer.com/?developer=imoseyon&folder=hlte
Samsung code is a bit behind CodeAurora, especially the GPU code so I started updating them: gpu, row scheduler, msm cpufreq, etc. Will take a while to completely modernize everything I think. If you run into issues with 0.4b report it here and go back to 0.3b.
Edit: 0.4.2b is the latest - had to revert cpufreq updates due to some bootloops.
--
BTW, I get the feeling that the kernel will work without modification on most N900 variants. I will compare source on some of those to confirm soon.

Thanks for doing this. Will test during the weekend. Exiting times ahead.. Jp is getting the device too.
Knox should not matter, the root scene have always broken warranty, except now it's just a little more definite due to the 0x1.

Flashed with recommended TWRP, full wipe including system, and WiFi won't work. Which is not a rom issue. I don't know what's going but I think my EFS is borked, time to flash my backup and check.
The best 4.4 ROM out there super smooth no lag compared to others that i have tried. Just wish it had a little more tweak options but that will come in time.

Yeah. It's weird 33/98 worked on yesterday's PSX build for me, but after flashing this and CM it doesn't work for anything.

F.A.Q. - Read this before complaining!
1. This kernel works on Y or X rom?
A: It is only compatible with Touchwiz ROMs and i officially support Aliance , Omega , Echoe , XtrestoLite ROM only and users on other ROM are on their own risk and complaining about the Kernel will not be tolerated..!
2. OMG Battery Sucks...!
A: As you can imagine I don't build kernels to decrease battery life. All the battery life problems come from your apps, either Facebook, or Maps, or some Location Service being enabled etc etc. Check your damn wakelocks and fix them, the kernel is not responsible for them.
3. How do I flash this?
A: Reading the OP, theres a reason why I added instructions on it.
4. Which App is the best for Controlling the Kernel?
A: Their are many apps in the Play Store but i personally recommend TricksterMOD or FauxClock rest its on you whether which you find most comfortable.
5. Getting Random reboots..! Any Help
A: I don't answer to problems without a log. The log file is in /proc/last_kmsg. Paste it on pastie.org and link it on your post. Logcats are useless for Kernel purposes, don't bother posting them.
6. OP is arrogant, I'm gonna call the Internet Police?
A: Deal with it.
7. Which Settings are best for XYZ ROM and XYZ thing..!
A: THe Default settings of the Kernel are the best and Balanced one but you can ask other users on the thread or can discuss which settings are the best..!
8. XYZ Feature doen't work in this Kernel on XYZ ROM..! You suckass, fix it..!
A: I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a fix, I can tell you I don't have the solution. If you leave now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I ignore you.
9. My Kernel settings are not sticking and i have tried almost all the fu**in apps and none works..!
A: Have you installed busybox ? No? Then kindly install it and not every busybox installation is 100% complete so kindly keep that in mind before posting and beating a dead horse in the thread...!

Boots are made for walking
Just reboot into recovery, you need to have a custom one installed. Instead pressing vol-down button (which takes you to download mode), press vol-up one.
I've had the same problem building a custom kernel. What made the difference is how we pack the kernel. @Friedrich showed me android image kitchen.
All well now

KCal warning: I would highly advise against putting your screen on a single color all the time because screen burn-in is very much there on this device so take it easy! (example: setting the screen tint to red and leaving it there for an extended period)

Whats the HID Patch?
Can low bit ambient mode be disabled via the kernel? I'm dying for that feature, and disabling it via the build.prop doesn't work anymore.
Very exciting to see some kernel dev for 6.0.1 already!

It allows your device to act as a keyboard so you can send commands to a computer via usb, when I installed kali nethunter on my phone I found out I could do that so I applied the patch to the watch so it can do that too (with the right app/script of course )
Woo hoo! we are getting variety on this watch
delete!!!!
does this need busybox and root? or can I just tethered boot TWRP and flash?
@noahvt I just got this up and running and i the watch already feels snappier!
any settings you recommend changing in kernel audiutor?

Hmmm that's definitely interesting, I'll take a look at it!
Sooo, how do I flash it ?? I'm sorry, haven't been reading on carefully but I can't find root or recovery for the zenwaych 2
I flashed it using a tethered boot of TWRP. I'm not sure if it can be flashed via fastboot
Root is needed if you want to use kernel auditor with it. There is a SuperSU 2.6x wear version. I found it in the lg g watch forums in a zip that includes kernel auditor and busybox all in the same package
