I know about logcat, but fit seems to be a shell command, and it does not seem to be working when I am in recovery mode. I also know the recovery.log. But I still like to see what is happening in real time with my own two eyes. Is there some way of activating logcat while you are in recovery? It seems like I can shell into my device. I get this error
Code:
/sbin/sh: exec: line 1: logcat: not found
when I try to issue
Code:
./adb logcat
command. I created an image with Android Kitchen which seems to be installed waaaay too fast. i.e. I get a successful confirmation from TWRP, but when I try to reboot the device I get an error stating that there is no OS installed.

I may be way off, but you tried Galaxy Tool by idone. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../app-one-click-hotspot-enabler-menus-t2816159 it has the ability to access logcats and sys dumps, might be worth a try ?

Hey thanks. I'll have a look at it. I got some stuff with ./adb logcat. I had to reinitialize the tool a few times but TWRP is worth it's weight in gold. I have not had the opportunity to try some of the other recoveries out there. But that is because TWRP does all the things I need to do.

No problem, I have used both TWRP and CWM. In the past I was not possible to switch, and use the backups from one to the other. Now that's changed and they are basically compatible making the choice between them just a personal preference. Let me know if the Galaxy Tool Hidden menu app helped ?

Cut to the chase, I can no longer get into recovery. I am trying to use adb in command prompt, but am running into a roadblock where $ comes up, and no commands will work. I quite literally have no idea what to do. I just want to go back to normal. I know it's my fault for trying new things, but if the phone still boots up, there must be a way out of this hell. Please can anyone have mercy on me and help? What information must I provide? VM670 is the phone. I think it's on stock ROM cause the UI is all virgin mobile looking.
Edit: I tried to restore some BCDS backup or something in Rom manager. Now my screen is just black, but I can hear it boot up. Is my phone toast?

I am not sure if I remember correctly, but when $ pops up, don't you have to type "su" (without the quotations) to allow superuser actions or something? What I mean is, before you type any other command, you must first type "su", press enter (when you do the $ should turn into a # or something), then proceed with the rest of the commands.
when I type su, it waits a second, then tells me permission denied I believe.
Can you post the set of instructions that you are following?
I was just able to get into recovery for some reason! It was the one I remember with orange text this time. (older version?) I wiped everything.... but had no ROM to flash. -_- trying something now.
After 2 days of trying to fix my phone, I give in, make an account and ask for help here. No more than 5 minutes later my phone is back to just how I want it for no reason at all. I am so utterly baffled right now. Thanks sweetnsour for being there . love this place
Simply get root (GingerBreak or Super One Click) , then install recovery with Rom Manager.

Are you root your phone? Use, depending your stockROM, z4root (2.2 and some 2.2.1), Gingerbread (2.2.1, 2.2.2) or SuperOneClick + Gingerbread exploit + some ADB commands (2.3.3)
When you rooted, you can flash customrecovery using commands or, in case of CWM, Clockworkmod apk.

Because when you typed su , your phone will appear the super user permission , it only give you 9 seconds to allow the su...... But you just see the black screen

Hey guys,
I've been slackin' on the updates of my rom lately and thought it was finally time to do a proper update. I got my HTC one in the US around release and rooted it back then. However, now I was trying to install Android Revolution on it and the installation went fine (well, at least so I thought) up until the time I was going to boot it. It constantly keeps on re-booting me into the TWRP menu, even though the rom seems to be installed.
I was looking around and found out about ADP push http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325853
However, I get stuck on the step where I'm supposed to get up my Serial number in the terminal. It seems as if the command runs through but comes up with nothing, just a blank space. At first I simply ignored this and moved on to the next step. However, my computer doesn't seem to acknowledge the command ./adb push NameOfRom.zip /data/media/
Where do I go from here?
Thank you
Mr. Harrow

I found this http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one/332846-hi-i-have-htc-one-m7-its-stuck-twrp.html
Shouldn't have to go through the hassle of going through that process though? Seeing as there's a zip of the android revolution on the phone which is installable, but nevertheless doesn't boot. Please help a fella out?
Try to wipe all but SD card, flash rim like normal, then pull the recovery logs (found in advance settings) and post it here if it won't boot
Also know that many HTC phones when unlocked through htcdev, need you to flash the kernel through fastboot after flashing the ROM, if you're unsure if you need to do this boot to bootloader and note all it says on this screen and then check your device forum for specifics on this

Also make sure you got the correct rom from the correct forum. There are multiple One forums now and it's not the first time it's happened..
PS. ./adb is only for Linux - is that what you are running?
And I know the stuff is on /data/media but try this:
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/
I am very new to android and trying to set up the sdk tools for my command prompt. if there are any guides video or web folks could recommend I would be grateful. currently I am trying to understand if I have properly set my path in enviroment variables. I see java oracle in it. but i am wondering if that means the java tools are in the path. is java oracle the jdk tools?
My preference is just using the Minimal ADB and Fastboot installer. You can find it over this way:

i did install the link you listed yet am getting the same results. I have the oem switch set to allow oem unlock. I am guessing i need a fastboot cable. is that true?
What results are you getting? What phone and what are you trying to do? You don't need a special cable. Your micro USB one will work fine.

I am trying to root my galaxy express prime. Want to sideload supersu and see if it will take. I may be issuing the command improperly though it seems rather straightforward. l get a package not found type error. when i use a fastboot command i get waiting for any device. i am learning and trying with little time to invest so figure I will get it right sooner or later. hoping somethings comes up for the device soon before i brick this darn thing. thanks for your time though all the same

You won't be able to sideload something like supersu. You can only install that on a Galaxy phone like yours through a compatible custom recovery. Samsungs also do not even support fastboot, so that wouldn't help regardless of anything else.

I've been spending a good weekend on this trying to get my phone with Magisk.
I am currently trying to install Magisk on my Sony Xperia Z3C without rooting (I've successfully rooted the phone before, but no luck on full unrooting SU) so I am trying to install TWRP with ADB so I can flash Magisk.
I've tried the bare bones SDK tools provided on this site, Android Suite, YouTube videos but I can't seem to get it work even though it looks so simple.
So I finally threw in the towel for tonight and seeking assistance so I can go at it again tomorrow.
I've attached a screenshot of what I have been encountering for the past hours.
Thanks for your time.

Did you try run command from folder where "adb" is placed. May be try run from cmd not from PowerShell
Why don't you use fastboot instead of adb to flash TWRP.img? you can also try Flashify but in my opinion manually via fastboot is more reliable

I did but it didn't work. I might have encountered a path issue or conflicts with all the drivers I installed trying to get it to work.
Today I just wiped my windows and installed a fresh copy and instead of putting a ";" and adding the path, I just made a new one and moved it up. So far so good.
I hope nothing else happens.
Been hitting walls after walls trying to get Magisk on my Z3C.
P.S Windows 10 has Powershell and not CMD when I shift and right click.
Might be a new thing for this OS. I never really had to use command lines but I am too, use to CMD in other Windows version.

Alright let me know
Hi guys, I am having a lot of trouble with an Ollee T10HR2S tablet, it is running Nougat 7.1.2 and I have tried all rooting apps and software and none work, all I get up from a couple is "your system is too strong, root failed", I would like ot put a bit later android system on it if I can but first I have to get past this security bit that has become very frustrating. Any help will be much appreciated.
You probably tried to root device's Android by means of a so-called One-Click-Rooter. These won't work when Android's dm-verify or AVB is enabled.
Try rooting by means of flashing a root package.
Yes I did try all that I could find but I cannot find a package that will work, I cannot find any information on the Ollee at all.
