ZTE Midnight (Z768G)
Was wondering if anyone has any updates on custom roms, unlocking possibilities, custom recovery etc. Just bought this phone for $5 at 7-11 and thought it may be a nice phone to play around with. So far it's rooted based on other forum posts but since then the project seems to be abandoned?

unfortunately, i bricked my phone in a rather silly way. (flashed a test recovery image and discovered that the device will get stuck in a bootloop if its recovery is damaged) if i could get one for $5 here i'd have already bought another! that's a hell of a deal. i was really looking forward to getting something running on this device, but with no viable full flash restore mechanism (that i'm aware of yet) it's a rocky battle.
i don't suppose you'd be willing to purchase another one of these and mail it to me? i can paypal you however much it'd be to buy one (or maybe even two o.o) and ship it, so long as the phone really is only $5. that's a really really appealing price to be able to have a second chance at bringing something interesting to a minimally-supported device!

let me check all the stores in my area again...if not i could always send you this one since i originally bought it to play around with and get something working on it to make it decently usable... pretty much more than just talk, possibly even unlock for use on att towers since coverage here is nonexistent on net10. I have a galaxy s5 i just got today which will be my main phone but this one i was mainly just hoping to get running to introduce my mom to smartphones as an xmas gift. With no coverage here on it's current service the thing is kind of useless to me atm anyways. just message me where you want me to mail it and i'll let you know if i'm able to get anything sent out. I probably won't be able to send anything till after black friday since my work schedule interferes with getting to the post office anytime before that. I'd estimate the thing should cost no more than $5 to ship though. if you need the microsd it came with i will leave it in the phone too. its a 4gb card.

Did anything ever come of this? I have 6 of these that I would very much like custom ROMs for. If I didn't need all of them I would certainly send you one. I work for 7-11 so guess where I got them and for how much lol. I actually need 10 for a project I am working on, but haven't had any luck finding anymore in my area either. If i do i will be glad to send one. Looks like I quoted the wrong post but you get the point. :fingers-crossed:
Rooting ZTE 768G Tracfone
I've tried KingoRoot for days now. 4 days to be exact. I can't seem to find ANYTHING that will just simply root this phone. I downloaded and tried VRoot now at LEAST a dozen times in the 2 hours I've been working on it this morning.
Is there a way to root a phone using Android Studio?? I mean the program is there to build and work on Android...wouldn't it have some way to root a phone as well?
A friend gave me this little ZTE 768G Midnight...and it sucks. No memory worth speaking of but if I can get it rooted I can use Link2SD to expand that....

Hi, I am new here I have modded a few droid phones and windows phones following guides here. I wanted to ask the gurus around here about getting an android phone on boost mobile. I see that they are selling them now but the phones are not all the great.
What I was wondering if there is a list of compatible phones and what options I might have. I would love to duel boot with Debian and have a decently moderate CPU and amount of ram. I have been using a blackberry 8350i for years and its starting to fall apart and I think it is time for an upgrade. I do work in IT and I do a of networking setups and such and being able to use Debian on the side would be a huge plus as I would not need to carry my laptop as much.
Thank you for reading sorry if this sounds noobish but I was search Google and this forum and I did not really find any relevant information.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Thanks for moving and sorry for posting in the wrong spot
Boost (in my area and I think most area's) run off the Sprint CDMA network.
What you need to do is get any Sprint Android Phone with a clean ESN and call Boost to have them activate it on their network.
If they tell you no, keep calling back until you get a Rep that will do it. It's not against any of their policies, but some Reps don't want to do it.
My brother is on Boost and has done this successfully.
What we have found that they WON'T do (at least any/all we have talked too) is activate an Unlocked Verizon phone on their network (I think Sprint may really hate that).
So it wont be like my Blackberry where i had to mod the service books and such to make it work it will just work? ... any recommendations on a phone to get? I would like to get something with 8 gig internal storage that will handle duel booting and handle a lot of network tools that run off debian ... I was also thinking of getting a nook color but Id rather have a phone as its not so bulky i am trying to minimize what i gotta lug around ... Thank you so much for the info.
I should just be able to bypass the reps and do it online right?

This is not like GSM phone where you just pop in a SIM card and go. They have to actually have the ESN of the phone, validate that it is clean (not stolen or the person you bought it from had is account closed for non-payment or something else) before they will activate it.
They have to actually provision the phone onto their network and allow it to access it. no way to By pass this unless you work for Boost.
As for which phone to get, just go to their website and take a look at their devices. You can even go into the store and check them out. Asking a question like that won't get you far as everyone has different tastes so best to just go look on your own.
I, personally, could not make a recommendation as I am a GSM only user. I refuse to go to anything CDMA for the sheer fact that it makes it almost impossible to travel internationally, at the present.
Ok thank you so much ... I am looking at the Samsung Epic at the moment
Well I went with the epic ... thanks everyone for the help I am very happy going from a blackberry to a droid ... now to figure out how to skin and and such !
I've got an LG Optimus T (T-Mobile Optimus One) that's fully bricked and I can't find anyone in the area to assist saving this device. I contacted several of the cell phone ripoff shops here in town and they all say they "know a guy that can do it but doesn't work for us" but they won't put me in direct contact with this so-called genius and I'm stuck for a solution.
Also... I was kinda hoping someone might be able to help for no charge - I honestly don't have the cash to save this phone but I can't afford another one either. If I had the cash I'd just get another phone, duh, but I'm between a rock and a hard place so, figured I'd ask and see what happens. I know people expect hard cash for most everything these days, but I could use a break and it'll be good Karma back on you if you can help.
It's the only Android phone I have and I'd love to get it functional once more.
Mods: I couldn't think of any other place to ask the question so, if this is off-limits or going against any rules (that I'm not presently aware of) feel free to delete it outright instead of just locking it.
Contact me by PM if you're able to help, and my Wife and I appreciate any assistance possible.
Hello xda-developers,
I've scoured the internet for the answers to this question, the HTC Evo Design has been out for a while now, yet it seems like it has never gotten enough attention to warrant clear instructions if any at all to unlocking the sim. I have a friend who likes to buy old phones and do god knows what with them, this time he decided to get a HTC Evo Design and he has asked for my help.
I'm not new to unlocking phones and sims but this one has me really stumped. It seems like the sim slot for the Design has no real purpose unless you decide to use it outside of the US, my friend though wants it to work with a US T-Mobile sim card. Now even though I've unlocked a good amount of my friends phones, I'm not exactly a seasoned veteran, and I don't really do much research on this sort of stuff unless my friend needs my help so I'm not sure if this just doesn't have the ability to be unlocked at all, or if there was just a lack of interest in this phone and that is why there is almost no information on trying to unlock it.
What I would like an answer to is if there is any programs that have been developed since the last 5 years this phone has been out that might unlock the sim, or at least instructions to doing it myself. Most likely there isn't and I would really love for someone with more knowledge on this to read this post and go, "I can make a program to do this in a couple days" or something, but really any information even conformation that it won't work would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
P.S There is no HTC Evo Design forum so please don't tell me to post this in its forum.
Edit: I've also found out that this phone has no method of going into s-off mode so maybe that is a big reason why it has never been unlocked.
Seems like there was a progam back in the day that would turn s-off for this phone, it was called supertool, but it doesn't seem to work with the boost version because the stock rom is too updated for it, would it be possible to downgrade to a rom that would allow it to work? I know this might be too narrow of a subject to post about on such a general forum, really wish there was a better place to discuss this, but most of the ones that did are dead and gone.
Kinda disappointed there is so little information on this phone, kinda wish my friend bought something other than this one lol, is there anyone that i could get in contact with that I could possibly send my phone to, or give them information on this to help with unlocking the sim, or getting s-off?
Ok, I found this , it is the closest thing to what i am looking for, tried using it though and it does nothing . Can anyone double check if this works for their phone? I really am pulling at straws here, wonder if this could be tweaked to run on the htc evo design.
This is the build.prop of the HTC Evo Design 4G after using that file from the last link, I also put in the backup in case that file muddled up the build.prop and so anyone who has more knowledge on this sort of stuff can pinpoint whether that file could help in the first place.
I've been around the unlock business for awhile and don't believe there are any options for unlocking it besides for international use and only by Sprint (I don't think the Boost version even has that option). If, there was some way to unlock it for use here in the US (I'm certain there is not), it wouldn't get anything beyond 2g as it does not have the support for any HSPA frequencies besides 2100, which no US company uses.

So ive been putting it off for a while, but its time to retire the device im using. Trouble is, I'm used to being rooted. And theres so much out there, I figured I'd ask here first instead of getting swamped trying to dig through the options.
So, my budget is around $250-300, flexible depending on the device and what not. Prepaid cuz **** contracts and all that. And so you know what I'm coming from, Im currently on a Galaxy J3 with Virgin. So whatever it is should be a noticeable, preferably significant upgrade from that.
Things ive never had in a phone but would definitely pay a little more for:
Fingerprint sensor
NFC capabilities (android pay, etc)
Anything that has been standard on fancier, more expensive phones but not on devices under ~$150 (my max I'd spend in the past).
Carrier doesnt matter too much, as long as its prepaid/no contract.
Help me people, I await your advice.
Also, apologies if this isnt where this should be posted.

Try Micromax Canvas Infinity
Ill go the whole ordering a phone overseas as a last resort. Id prefer it to not be too "off brand" if possible. If not then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Hi, I am new to the site, So I will say sorry now if I am posting this in the wrong spot or if someone else has answered this question already. I tried to do a search in here before posting this, I did not find anything.
My gf works for a hotel and when people leave items such as old phones, they have to get rid of them after a while, they either throw them away or keep them if the person does not come back for them. I was given this Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on T-Mobile. The person who owned it never came back for it, but blacklisted it, so I'm assuming he/she got a new phone with insurance, just my guess. I would like to know how I can use this with my AT&T service. I have already rooted the phone, deleted tons of apps I no longer need or use. The phone is basically a small tablet right now. I have looked, and looked on the internet for a few years now with no lucky, the only luck I have come close to having is a place in a mall getting it to work, but I would have to pay $50 and they said no guarantee it would stay unblacklisted. So my main question, is there a way I can get this thing working with AT&T or is this not possible? I have seen another post similar but not quite the same, someone said all you have to do is install an AT&T Firmware over the T-Mobile one, I have only seen one person say this and it was on here, all of the other searches throughout the years on other sites have said nothing about this. So I'm at a stand still here, No clue what I should do. I know some people just say, use one of those websites that do it, well I don't trust those, So I would rather find a fix I can actually try myself. I know it's an older phone, but It would be cool to try it out as a phone for a while to see if I would want to change over to an Android Phone.
