I'm really starting to wonder about people complaining about stock because of bloatware and that it causes sluggishness and poor battery life.
I haven't really noticed a whole lot of lag and look at this battery life.
This is stock NC4 deodexed, nothing frozen nothing removed. So my question is what is everyone complaining about? Been running this for over a week now.

You need to qualify your results with how you use the phone. One can get your results easily with few calls and minimum screen time. 3 hours of screen time is nothing.
Because with the MJE build, many people were getting 5-6 hours screen on time. While 3 hrs screen on time is more than enough for me, for many people it is not. (I don't understand how someone can be on their phone for 6 hours a day, but hey, whatever floats your boat)

with the size of this phone its more than just a phone, i game on it, watch tv shows, movies and social media...for me its a tablet not a phone
I get 7 hrs of screen time on 4g streaming netflix. On stock... I get the same on any vzw n3 rom. Its not going to change much no matter the rom. Since we all use the same unmodded stock kernels.
I was getting 6-7 hours on screen on the stock battery in a day, which I thought was pretty good. A week ago I got the Zero Lemon. The following results are after my second charge and I'm pretty happy with the results.

My screen on time more than tripled. Shure the phone is heavier but to me was worth it. Last night was my third charge and if I go by my S3 zero lemon performance this is going to get even better.

My point exactly. I've grown tired of flashing stuff I guess. It's gotten quite boring. Not much changes but the skin of the OS.
my battery only 7 people es
Lol. I thought you all were lying, because in 15 hrs I was getting 2 1/2 to 3 hrs screen on with 5% battery left. Now better life with 56% battery left.
So I had Vzw check my battery and they said the battery was fine. I had them send me one anyways. . Amazing difference in battery life. My G3 can't even come close to my N3 battery life now.
Very happy I read these comments. I wouldn't have got a new battery otherwise.
Edit: After full discharge.
3 hours of battery life is terrible how is that good? We go by on screen time 7 is good I've heard of 11 with a certain rom but other than that ignorant to post a topic saying u don't know why then you post bad battery times how is this helpful??

So what's the final verdict on the s3 battery life?
I have read articles that claim that it is great.
I have read articles that talk of a bug that causes battery drain.
I have read articles about official and unofficial fixes.
And I have read articles of these fixes not working.
I'm considering getting one -and I'm not interested in voiding my warranty or risk bricking it, because I already had an issue with a note and when I took it to the shop they told me that they couldn't service it because I had updated the software myself. They stole the inner components. (When I took it to the shop, the phone would still turn on but not boot, but when they gave it back to me ten days later -it wouldn't even blink. I took it to another shop, and they told me that it had been tampered with and parts had been replaced).
So, is the battery life a crapshoot ?
Nothing wrong with the battery life. Even with heavy use you will get a day. Having come from an sgs and sgs2 I have to say this is amazing!

For me i thought it was dreadfully low when i first got it. but then again i was on it 24/7 when i first got it n still got a full day of use.
I get about 2-3 days now with daily use. mainly because ive tweaked the display brightness (which accounts for ~50% of battery use) and switched to a dark theme.
I can get up to 7 hours of on screen time. Compare that to my 4 hour screen time on my One X.
So the issues of battery drain have been masterfully dealt with, or are you guys the few lucky exceptions?
Because I've read a lot of articles complaining about battery life (and some kind of bug on the international version of the S3).
But if it's as solid as you guys are saying, I may go pick one up, today.
I can't go more then a full day with medium usage.
I do however like my screen BRIGHT as the sun, good for outdoor use. Gone are the days of 3310 where after a week i remember the thing needs charging lol.
Don't forget, you can always carry a spare battery if your away for a while, juice defender helps too

And seriously people I don't know how you get that timings like 7 hours and such. Are you guys on stock/unrooted? If yes, then please someone tell me how.

I am on 50% brightness.
Rooted stock ICS ROM. Tegrak overclocked to 1.6Ghz.
Tons of bloatware removed.
Touchwiz frozen with Titanium Backup.
I get anywhere from 5-7 hours of on screen time depending on what I am doing.
After having owned the device for a few days, I concur with the general consensus. The battery will give you about a waking day's worth at moderate use. You definitely need to charge it every night, if you're going to use it anywhere near the way it was designed/meant to be used. But for intensive use, this will not give you a full working day, so you need to be able to charge it in the work place.

I have both. On screen time is about 6-7 hours on GS3 and I can get 5 on a good day with the One X.
Still, there are things I like about both of them.
I can hit 5 hours screen time with 2x% left with some moderate browsing and wifi constantly on
How many hours of battery life are you getting out of your galaxy note 2 ...Do you disable wifi at and data at night .Another question when I have wifi and data enabled I noticed that wifi overides data so does data do anything to the battery since wifi over rode it ..Im trying to find out wheather or not I should just disbale certian featured and have longer battery life or just purchase an extra battery and carry that around just in case I will admit one thing the battery on the note 2 is definitely good but I question when people say they get two days of battery how much usage and are they disabling wifi and data at night ? I want to get 8 hours of on screen time it seems like I might get 6 1/2 to 7 hours with a day and a half of usage but rarely two days unless im on the phone lightly like 2 hours a day maybe 3 depending on what app im using thats hogging battery life
Did you have a bad experience with a phone charger Bro? LOL
The more you disable the better but at what point does saving battery become more useful than using the phone.
I understand the obsession because I had it with my nexus so I'm not judging people that worry about it but I use this phone for work and fun with 6+ hours day screen on and I am loving that I only charge when I go to bed and don't have to worry about it again.
Mine lasts all day and I'm on it all the time. Either texting, listening to music, email ect. Maybe you have an app running it down prematurely?
I've also bought 3 extra batteries. Their so cheap. So I have one charged up and ready to go no matter what...LOL
No offence but these threads are so useless. Yesterday I got 5 hours screen time and only 11 hours. I average 7.5 hours and over 16 hours. So what's my point? it depends on location, what you're doing, what apps you have etc.

Nope, don't need it. I went through the whole micromanaging battery with OG Evo and the Galaxy Nexus. You don't need to do any of that on this phone. It has what I call "second generation" LTE radios, they are much more power efficient, and management of wifi and other radios is also improved. I leave 4G, Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS and Google sync on all the time. Battery usage is consistently 10% per hour when screen is on, and 1% per hour when in standby connected to Wifi or good LTE signal, dropping to 1.25% in weaker signal areas. Voice uses about 1% per 5 minutes talk time.
Well, I've had an entire day with the S4 now, and I can confidently say, "big whoop." yes the hardware is impressive. Yes I'm getting Quadrant scores over 12,000. Yes it has removable storage. Yes it has a removable battery. Yes the dev community is active. In the end I'm struggling with a case of who the F cares?
Recently I've been camped on a Note 2, and I'm really underwhelmed by this S4. I don't really know what I was expecting, but I was thinking there would be at least a little sparkle. The gimmicks are worthless for the most part, the display doesn't dazzle me the way the DNA does, and the build construction while better than the S3, is nowhere near as pristine as the DNA.
In all honesty, I miss being part of this HTC community. In the end I couldn't live with the DNA because the battery just wouldn't hold out long enough for me to make it through the day. I'm willing to accept that as a deal breaker. If it weren't for that however, I would probably be sticking to the DNA camp for a long time. The Samsung hardware specs are impressive, but the DNA has_soul_. I don't know how to put it any better than that. I'll probably go back to the Note 2 for the screen real estate and stellar battery life, but I'm going to continue to miss this forum. I won't miss the S4 one bit.
Take this post for what you will, a comparison of htc/sammy, a rant, some addled thoughts late at night, whatever er. Feel free to chime in if you want, or not. Feel free to delete the thread if someone thinks it's not relevant. I just had to get these things off my brain and onto the forum I care about most on XDA.

For people having battery issues, there are a lot of things to try. Depending on kernel, configuration, etc. I have had crazy amazing battery life. It really varies though and there are some things that can just totally wreck battery life. Just have to be mindful of it.

Well, in regards to the s4, battery life was horrible regardless of what I did. I fun minimal stuff that syncs. No social networking crap or anything and it managed to hit 46% after 8 hours. The same usage on my DNA and I get a minimum of ~12 hours at 50%. Best I've done on a charge is about 22 hours. That alone was the straw that broke the camels back...

Your DNA doesnt last you the whole day? What are you doing on it? I am running pio's PAC rom with crpalmer's kernel(and even before his kernel) I was *easily* getting 30+ hours with normal usage(messaging every ~15 minutes, around 1-2 hours of browsing reddit, various tinkering, and phone calls).

I owned three different DNA's over the course of about four months, and no matter what I did I couldn't get more than about 12-15hrs max from the battery. I was more than mindful, I ran battery stats until I was blue in the face, I ran multiple ROMs and kernels, bought two wireless chargers, etc. I'm jealous of those who would get 30+ hours on a charge, but it just wasn't possible with the way I use my phone.
Under the same or harsher conditions, I get around 30-48 hours on the Note 2, including up to about 5-6 hours of screen time. Not trying to say the Note is better, just relating experience and one key factor in my handset choice. If I had liked the S4,it would have required an aftermarket battery for sure.

Average battery life with newts sense 5 and beast setup default is 22 hours. Each day I do over 3 hours screen time and several calls. It lasts me a full day and that's all that matters to me.
Just curious but why do you need more then 13-15 hours of battery life? I understand its convenient if you're ever gone from home for a long time but you couldn't invest in a battery pack or carry a charger with you at all times just in case you are gone for a long time? I'd understand if you were only getting 4-6 hours of battery because that's what I got from my Gnexus. I'm up and at the gym at 6 in the morning and I don't have to charge my DNA until 6-9 pm when I finally make it back to bed with the stock rom (2.06) running 2x battery.
Glad to see people feel like the DNA is still a stellar phone. I was really curious to see if I should have waited to get the S4 or the HTC One if it ever came to Verizon. Now I don't regret getting this phone for free. It was practically stealing because it is such an amazing phone.

i've been with android since 2010, and i consider myself a power user. i text multiple times a day, always use 4G etc. i have everything syncing at all times.
i used to get 14-15 hours, and 3 hours screen on for the DNA until around Google I/O when they updated something. the play store got EXTREMELY slow and it would take 20 minutes to download a 15mb app, and my battery went to garbage.

I see a lot of threads here where the OP upgraded from the Galaxy Nexus to the Droid DNA. It would be helpful to me and I think a lot of people out there on the fence with the DNA and a few other devices if you'd share your experience and compare the two.
A big thing I want to know is battery life. My Nexus, though less than a year old, has, IMO, classic HTC battery life (more the OG Dinc and Thunderbolt, I think today HTC has kind of fixed that...maybe?), and at this point I just want a phone that gets me through the day. So how does the battery life compare?

I'd love a PM about your settings to get there. Thats crazy as I can only hit 3 hours screen on time.
I have had the following android devices. Droid X, Thunderbolt, Razr Maxx, Gnex, and DNA. Of the five the Gnex was probably my least favorite phone to be quite honest. If you gave the DNA the battery from the Maxx I would probably never buy another phone. I love this one that much lol. The phone is just amazing and it eats everything I throw at it alive. Battery life is really a non issue with this device imo. I work 10-12 hours shifts and I have my phone set up in such a way that I probably only consume 20% of my battery during that time frame. By using tasker, greenify and battery guru. The thing that holds true for me and I alluded to it in my first sentence above is that I can only get a little over 3 hours of screen time on my device. Now with that being said you have to understand that those three hours can come anyway possible. If I sit on my phone for 3 hours consecutively then it's going to die. If I stretch it out over 24 hours then it'll die whenever I get to the 3 hours mark. That's the most important thing to understand really.

Wow, just got my G2 on Friday night, and yesterday I was sitting around the house on WiFi all day, playing with it, I got maybe 12 hours out of it, before it was down in the teens.
Last night I charged it fully, woke up, unplugged the phone 100% battery, now 2 hours later it's down to 89%, and all I did was surf XDA and some websites for maybe 20 minutes all on WiFi.
I need to root this thing, and install CleanROM, and debloat this beast, because with a 3,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 800, I expect way way better battery life.. I am looking for Note 2 battery life, that thing could go 36 hours without sneezing.
Is it the ton of bloatware on the phone from ATT + LG killing the battery ? I am shocked at how much bloat this phone has, it's over the top with bull**** apps I never want on here, pretty ridiculous.
If you had taken the 2 minutes it took for you to write up this rant and look for the battery thread you would have seen the G2 has amazing battery life. You are obviously doing something wrong.
Give it some time to settle before deciding anything. Mine actually took three-four days and some reboots before it calmed down, and now I have about twice the battery stamina compared to HTC One (which I threw in the dumpster btw) .
Could be hardware issues. I had my G2 for a week now, and I tell you what the battery is amazing. I can easily get 4-5 hours of screen on time with 24+ hours battery life, and that's with stock. all sync (fb, whatsapp, twitter) with a few tweaks. I am coming from Nexus 4 and very impressed because with G2 I literally have a double battery life.
And also G2 is very fast charging. Only take 2 hours to charge from 10 - 100%. That's amazing!
My battery is getting better every day. Yesterday I got 14 hours of use, 5 1/2 hours screen on time, and an estimated 2 1/2 hours to go at 15%. Definitely the best so far. With more tweaks, I'm wondering how much I can get today.

I had some bad battery life initially. I found the biggest culprit of battery drain in my case was CarrierIQ. After rooting the phone and disabling the CIQ, my battery life has been great. It goes 24+ hours easily and it seems it can run 40+ hours though I haven't tried it.

The battery life is love and hate on this phone for me. The love part is the battery life on this phone is great. The hate part is you have to turn off a lot of things to get that great battery life.
I've never had to turn this many things off to get good battery life on any other phones that I've had. I have to completely turn off anything location related which is a big bummer for me. I always like to have a clock/weather widget on my home screen but it never updates with all of the stuff that I have to turn off.
It's one of the few reasons why I'm moving to a Note 3. But when you heavily tweak the system, you can get fantastic battery life out of this phone. Good luck!

The battery life is love and hate on this phone for me. The love part is the battery life on this phone is great. The hate part is you have to turn off a lot of things to get that great battery life.

if you only turn off the google apps location settings and keep the app location settings on you should still see good battery. I use the stock weather clock widget and it updates just fine with those settings

[OFF TOPIC]
yet another topic's title that would detract would be buyers.
This phone has the best battery life of any phone I have ever had, stock. Even better than the Note series. Clearly user error
Battery life issues are so variable between two use scenarios it's like comparing apples and oranges. As others have said, battery life is pretty damn amazing for this phone.
Post some results from GSam battery monitor or wake lock detector to help you sort it all out.
I am still running stock, not rooted or ROM'd yet. Right now I am at 8h 29m total usage off a 100% charge this morning. Current battery life is already down to 35%, and only 2h 49m On Screen Time, and I have been on WiFi all day. I have GPS off, sync off, no e-mail or Facebook stuff installed yet.
Might as well give you a fast screen shot of mine
People with great battery life vs those with poor. Do you think its mainly settings and a good ROM or root with bloat deleted ?
Or is it hardware related ? Bad phones from factory shipping with damaged batteries or hardware ?

Battery so poor, I might return my G2 for a Galaxy S4 instead, for the removable battery.
Just shocked I'm barely getting any better battery life than my Nexus 4, which got 4h On Screen time, and over all only 12 hours usage
Do I have a bad phone ? Or just stock is screwed up and I should factory reset, or better yet, root and install CleanROM ?
