Latest Z Firmware - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am on the rooted 4.2.2 FW (10.3.1.C.0.1.36) on my Xperia Tablet Z (SGP311) and was wondering how I can install an official ROM that is at least 4.4?
Updating with official FW no longer works once you root right?

If unlocked, dont update via SUS. Wait for an ftf file and do this with flashtool.

[STOCK][C6843][Brazil][4.4.2] 14.3.A.0.757 [FTF][LB/UB]

For my Brazilian fellow users, I've just created and uploaded 14.3.A.0.757 C6843 FTF (latest official Sony 4.4.2 firmware). This is ONLY for the Brazilian Z Ultra model C6843.
This FTF should work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders.

It's not rooted, it's the stock ROM without any modifications. To root, you will need to follow one of the guides here. If you have unlocked your bootloader (backup your TA partition first if you haven't!), it's easy, flash the FTF, then a kernel with recovery built-in, then SuperSU, then (optionally) the stock kernel back, and you are done.

[Q] Xperia z2 lollipop root?

Hello,
I'm Yazan and I'm new to this developing stuff. I had an old Samsung that I used to play with and rooted it but moving to the Xperia z2 was a big upgrade. I have very low experience and would love to root my Xperia z2. I have updated it to the generic lollipop update and would like to know if there is a way to root it. And also could I downgrade to 4.4.4 KitKat root it and install a rooted 5.0 stock ROM?
Thanks for the help. I'll be waiting. :fingers-crossed:
You need to downgrade it to 4.4.2 Kitkat, root it, install Dualrecovery, and then flash a prerooted lollipop firmware via recovery.
Please search the forum for how to do it..

... So I could flash (downgrade) a stock 4.4.2 ROM directly from 5.0.2 using flashtool, then root it and install dual recovery then flash the 5.0 pre rooted rom using the recovery? And btw my bootloader is locked should I unlock it first.

No need to unlock bootloader... Just do as you said...
The intention of downgrading firmware is to gain root without unlocking bootloader.

Haha, thanks I'm sort of new... Thanks though. and which ROM should I choose... 17.1.2.A.0.314 or 17.1.1.A.0.402. My device is D6503
You may use 17.1.2.A.0.314 to downgrade.

If your ROM is stock LB you can just flash the 4.4.4 ftf file using flashtool.
FTF links: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759934... Hope this helps!

[Q] sony xperia z ultra root lollipo 5.0

Sorry if this question was asked before but i wanna know if there is a methot to root sony Xperia z ultra 5.0 lollipop, model C6833 with firmware 14.5.A.0.242. If anyone knows a good way to root it please post it here. TThanks in advace!
I'm afraid that we don't have "one click root" right now.
You would have to downgrade back to 4.4.4 (with root and custom recovery) and flash a pre-rooted 5.0
This guide worked for me.
Thanks but the thing is that i am allready in 5.0 and i don't have a rooted device....so...how can i di that downgrade in order to root it?

There is a section there when you are already on 5.0.
I too was already on 5.0 and no root but following this guide, I now have a rooted 5.0.1.
Basically, the steps are:
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Download 4.4.4 FTF and use Flash Tool to downgrade your phone
3) Root and install custom recovery on your downgraded phone (you should already be on 4.4.4 by this time)
4) Download 5.0.1 FTF and create a pre-rooted flashable 5.0 using prefCreator
5) Flash your pre-rooted 5.0
Read the guide, you can never get lost.
Thanks a lot!!

I don't remember if you need UB to flash ftf
Flash kitkat ftf
Use easy root guide
Install recovery
You can flash an official Sony ROM via recovery and it comes pre rooted
