Is this normal behavior, or did I get a setting somewhere. It's very distracting, especially reading a book at night. Every time I turn a page the lights on the 4 buttons light up!
inside display is a option called "touch key duration".....theres 6 settings including always on always off...or certain number of delays as well...turn it completly off...that will help so when u touch the screen..the bottom lights don't kick on.....hit thanks...if I helped ya bro...

I hit that one by accident last night but didn't realize you could slide left & right. Might not need the Brightness Control app anymore (lets you shake device then use volume controls to increase/decrease brightness). That would mean I could look for a different app to do something when I shake my device! Nice find!
Is this the same on others devices .. when I unlock my screen the widgets and apps sometimes need a second time appear
The weather clock. Alarm widget. Google search etc all disappear as if they are not loaded .. is this a feature to save power or a design flaw ??
Sent from my GT-I9300
I've noticed that too. Like it has to load everything up again. Annoying.

Same here with Nova launncher.
This is where I envy IOS
Here comes the whaaambulance!!!
Seriously though. I think its designed to do that. Not so much the part where they take a second to load, but to save power maybe by using less ram? I dunno.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Ah yeah sounds right to save ram it's not bothering me as such just used to HTC
Another thing anyway to delay the screen lock when I'm using the phone ... I don't want to have to change the screen lock each time from none to pattern lol
Sent from my GT-I9300
The worst part is, if I wake up phone from deep sleep them the animation on the lock screen lags.
And even the main screen would lag for few seconds before it becomes super snappy.
This wake up lag and screen refresh is very embarrassing.
My gf's I Phone never does that and she teases me a lot because of this.
I have to sollow my pride :screwy::screwy::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

I'm Using My Xperia S Quite A Long, This Is My First Android Phone So Far!:cyclops:
Now Straight Coming To The Problem:silly:
In Market, There Seems To Be So Many Cool Apps Dealing With The Proximity Sensor Like:
1>Proximity Screen Off
2>Wave Control
etc
Well It Seems There Is No Problem Installing It, Or Crash (or force Close)
BUT
On These Application Gesture Function Nothing Seems To Work EXCEPT The 'COVER & HOLD' Mode
[e.g: say I Set 'Swipe Once' To Turn Off The Screen And 'Swipe Once' To Turn On The Screen...NO NOTHING WORKS!:crying:
Now Put 'Cover & Hold' To Both Turn On And Off The Screen Just As Before (in different gesture)...Works Like A Charm:laugh:]
Same Case Happens In Wave Control ('Default Pause Or Play' On 'Cover & Hold' Works, But 'Next Song' On 'Swipe Once' Doesn't Work:crying:
I've Even Uploaded A Video (SORRY FOR LOW QUALITY with Nokia X6 :silly Showing The Problem In 'Proximity Screen Off' App
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CVFaV2QeIk
If Anyone Is Having The Same Problem Please Post It Down And Of Course The Solutions Are MOST WELCOME
AnYoNe!!??
Proximity Screen Off didn't work too well with my Xperia S...it had a problem with immediately switching the screen right back on after it triggered a screen off. I'm using Smart Screen Off myself, which I think is the best one of these sensor on/off apps I've seen yet. It has a lot of options and seems to have a better calibration for your proximity sensor and gyroscope. Not only can you trigger your screen on and off with the proximity sensor, but you can also shake the phone to turn the screen on/off, and flip it over to turn the screen off. I'm using a hand wave to turn the screen on, combined with a screen off widget and the flip over motion for turning the screen off, and it works great.
I do wish somebody could make an app like PGM Nexus for Xperias, that is an amazing app that's sadly for the Galaxy Nexus only. You can turn on your screen by just swiping left to right on the screen, or double tapping on it with that app. Swiping right to left at the screen bottom turns the screen back off.

I'm Non-Rooted Though, If It Has Anything To Do With!

Using 5.0.1 pick one or two finger, make sure start service. All I did. Run finger over sensor and it comes on. Two finger swipe turns off

Yes i know this bug.
It's just because the proximity sensor is to slow.
And don't worry, it's a software bug.
To fix it, go to system/etc/hw.conf
You will see 'proximity sensor configuration"
CHange values
dev=/sys/bus/i2c/devices/3-0054/
val_cycle=1
val_nburst=1
val_freq=5
val_threshold=1

There are situations when I want the phone awake and alive and powered and on high brightness when I need it, but want to save the screen. An example is when in the car on a bright day. I use Llama (like Tasker) and can get it to start an app under appropriate conditions...
What I need is an app that will display a black screen image (or a preset image I can set that's actually a blank screen), and ideally the app to exit when I touch the screen.
So I would have Llama launch this app after a delay (when other conditions indicate I'm in the car). It would act as a delayed screen blanker/saver that would exit as soon as I touch the screen Does such an app exist (or something very similar)?
Use an app called "Screen Filter". You can set the brightness level all the way down and add a screen widget which will toggle this setting. Of course set the screen to be on all the time.

Will that work? How would I exit the dimmed screen on-demand (e.g. by touching the screen)? I don't think Llama/Tasker can detect this in order to reset Screen Filter.
Yes you touch the on screen widget to exit it. Put a bunch on the screen to make it easier to enable and disable it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
The usage model I have in mind won't work as you suggest. Say I have a music or gps app in the foreground. I want the screen to 'dim' after a while and to just tap the screen to restore normal brightness, still showing the app previously in the foreground. If I need widgets exposed, I have to switch to a home screen.
I think if I had an app that displayed a black screen, then the app could be launched in foreground over the music or gps app and designed to simply exit on a screen tap. This would re expose the music or gps app and I'd be good to continue using my phone on the app I was using before the 'screensaver' was launched...
Have you ever wanted to use air gestures similar to
the ones that the flagship phone - Galaxy S4 does?
Well your dream has partially come true as xda-
developers member forgin has developed this neat
app that simulates the S4 air gestures. The best part
about this is that it's free and it requires Android 2.2
and above.
The app uses the proximity sensor that the Galaxy Y
has on the front, so now you won't only use the
proximity sensor for shutting off the screen while
making calls, but for a lot more things. Please note
that the video you will watch below does not show all
of the features the app offers, explore the rest by your
own.
Set apps to open with all the available
gestures.
Silence alarm.
Silence incoming call.
Switch betwen recent apps (like back and
forward behaviour)
Fast go to home screen
QuickGlance like Galaxy S4 has!!!
Control your music player (next/previous/
pause/resume) even with screen off!!!
Shake phone during a call to activate/
deactivate speakerphone.
Answer incoming call, just put your phone
near to your ear (its like Hover Hold)
Lock/Unlock screen with hand slides!
Slide betwen your photos in your image
gallery (1 slide->next, 2 slides->previous)
Scroll up and down in your browser (1
slide->down, 2 slides->up. Not all
browser are supported).
Download Link-Hovering Controls
screenshots?
started using
so far good
How do i do that damn air gesture? Hahaha! :silly:
Edit: I knew it already. Haha. Will ask for more questions if needed.
works perfectly on my samsung gt S5360 thanks :good::good::good::good:
Reserved for future use. Awesome :thumb:
