Defective Power Button - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I took apart my GS4 today and discovered that the problem causing my phone to turn off on the boot screen is the power button. This was a complete random and freak occurrence. I have had a case on my phone since the day I bought it and I can't see why the button would be damaged. I removed the physical button (the one you depress with your thumb / finger) and still the phone would turn off incorrectly. The issue has to be with the power button, but it's soldered on and I have no idea what to do or how to go about repairing it.

Evo 4g LTE no power

Hey, new guy here.
So about 2 weeks ago my EVO 4g LTE's power button started acting crazy. I would have to push it really really hard to make it turn on. Sadly it has gotten to where now it just doesn't turn the phone on at all. I have since downloaded an app from the market to use the volume keys to turn it on from sleep mode, but cannot turn it off without being able to turn it back on (the app only supports waking the phone up). I've taken it apart, cleaned it and still no luck. No matter how hard I press it, it just won't turn on. The button also no longer gives that slight "click" when pressing it.
I ordered a new button, took it apart, replaced the button and still nothing. It still doesn't even click. I'm wondering what the part underneath the power button is called. Would that be the power button flex cable. I'm speaking of the part the button actually touches to produce the power on/power off effect and the mild click it gives when pressed.
I bought the phone used and when I took it apart, it appeared to be tampered with at this same location. It looked like this section had a black coating on it where the power button would touch but had been rubbed/scrapped off, showing copper.
If anyone knows what this part is please let me know so I can order/replace it.
Thanks in advance

Power button broken, and phone shutdown

So, yesterday, I accidently dropped my phone... again
I noticed minutes after that the power button of my DX wasn't working. I tried to remove the case, and click on the real power button... Was broken too.
I said "ok I'll let the phone charging so the screen will stay on"
Today I tried again to remove the case, to see if I can still try to find a way to click on the power button.
And the battery dropped... again
Now, I'm stuck with this unfonctional Desire X. The phone is totally SHUTDOWN, and I can't boot it without the power button. Is there a solution to this issue since my problem doesn't seems to be rare?

I actually tore the felx cable that goes to my power button.
You can buy new flex cable that holds SD and SIM cards and has the power button. Its about 8 dollars on ebay, shipping included.

In the meantime this is what you can try:
- remove battery and put it on charger. Why on charger insert battery and maybe it turns on. If it does, install and set up Gravity button tool. You can wake your phone with proximity sensor.
- try a nail file to gently scrub the plastic coating off the thin cable that runs to the power button. BE PATIENT! Dont use too much pressure or you will wrip it. You should see 2 copper lines running in parallel. If you see them, use something metallic to short circuit it. (I use the blade of a pocket knife or scissors). Hold it there long for power on, shortly for wake and lock screen. You can easily access the cable by just lifting the power button off the case with a thin blade. Be gentle.
Other thing: anyone has an idea if the flexcable from the dual-sim version would be compatible with the single sim motherboard? I mean, is the only difference between the single sim and dual-sim version that the flex cable is different?
Has anyone seen a dual-sim flex cable for sale online?

[AT&T] V10 Screens won't power on but phone vibrates once when power button pushed

[AT&T] V10 Screens won't power on but phone vibrates once when power button pushed
BONE STOCK ROM. One day my V10 screens were unresponsive. The mini screen was updating time correctly but wasn't responsive to touch, and the power button would not wake the main screen.
I removed the battery for 30 seconds then replaced, pressed power button. I had one short vibration then nothing. Neither screen comes alive. Removal of battery and replacement followed by pressing power button always gets a single vibration like it's powering up, but screen never comes alive.
Has this happened to anyone else? I am also wondering if in repair, someone could somehow access my data... I have sensitive information but the system is security locked with screen pattern.

Sounds like your LCD and digitizer has went out need to get it replaced . No they can not access your phone all they will do is replace the LCD digitizer and power it on to see if it comes on once it does there job is done . Replacing or repairing repairing screen will not erase anything because all your info is saved on the motherboard

Power button not working

Brand new s3.
power button doesn't seem to work. Anyone else?
not a known issue, take it back.
You realise you need to hold the POWER button down for a length of time?
Same problem. I haven't installed any apps or anything not either previously installed on another phone or tablet. Button isn't stuck, just totally unresponsive. Guess a trip to best buy is in my future
Add me to the list. My power button stopped working a few days ago.
I thought mine had died until I realised the batter had gone flat but I'm quite sure that's not the issue here.
Yea happened to me too. Maybe some water spilled. If not you have been abusing the power button. Better get a sleep wake cover like a finite and don't let the battery die. Power button issues went away after a few hours. Trick is to keep insisting the tab that power button still works don't give up.
Also press it in centre don't go wayward while pressing.
If you got issue with power button and got warranty get it changed for a replacement device... DO NOT GO FOR REPAIR SAME DEVICE.
Also if you connect charger and remove and connect trick is to learn how it works tab s3 should turn on without power button required. Just make sure you got that fingerprint unlock also keep screen timeout less if u don't have auto sleepwake cover

The power button comes out completely from its place, what should I do now?

Hey guys
I bought the device yesterday, and the power button was loose but I thought its normal since this is my first device with a finger print sensor in the power button. Just now after I pressed the button to lock the screen it came out completely from the top side but its still attached from the bottom side. and I can stick it back in but it keeps coming out every time I press on it
What should I do now? and is this enough reason for them to replace the device?
has anyone faced a similar issue?
this can be considered as factory defect. have it replaced immediately
Lol...your new device is losing the power button every time you press it, and you ask if that is a reason for a replacement?!?
Well....YES! ?
It is NOT a "feature" of Xiaomi devices, having a "mobile power button" that you can take with you, it's also not a safety feature so that no one else can use your phone when it's lying somewhere and you are not around (cause you have the power button in your pocket, so nobody can wake the phone ?).
No my friend, this is simply a defect device ??
