[Q] wanting to flash back from page plus. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I recently had my phone flashed to page plus with working 3g, and been talking with my dealer and they now have the 4g cards for page plus. In order to use them i need to be able take my phone basically back to stock and remove the flash to page plus from the phone. what is the best way to accomplish this is at all possible, could i just do an OTA update, or can i just download the stock firmware and flash it back using odin. Thanks

This is just a guess, but somewhat educated one. I would never take an OTA while running a modified ROM especially to try get back to a stock state. OTA are generally just patches not the whole system it most likely will cause major issues if not a soft or even worse a hard brick. I would go with the odin route for safety reasons but make sure you read all the directions and get the right images for your hardware model and maybe even the same baseband you were originally on before switching.
Lets see what other people think before you jump in...

Odin back to your the original firmware you were on before switching carries like the other person said. Your radio will be included in whatever full wipe Odin tar you use. How did you flash page plus? Did you just boot into download mode to do it?

You have to flash firmware compatible with your bootloader/kernel. What was/is your firmware version? It is under build number in settings/more/about phone.

You are on MK2. The last three characters of your build number tells you what firmware you are running, the last three under baseband version tells you what modem you have. This thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172 was created for the NC5 wipe and no wipe Odin Tars but the poster was kind enough to include links to the MK2 tars as well. Make sure you click on where it says MK2 for your downloads and flash in Odin via the instructions in the post and you should be good. Backup whatever data you need as you are basically going to be factory reseting your phone to MK2 so if you need text messages/call logs/contacts/calendar stuff back it up cuz you're going to lose it.
If I was helpful, dont just say "thanks"...click that little thumbs up.
Sent from my S4 that does what I want it to.

Awesome thank you so much

ICS Update question ...

Obviously it hasn't been sent out throught at&t yet and I'm having a crap time with my CPU. Can I download the update like the old school days. Like do the update.zip deal?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Sadly no....
Either Kies the update to the device,( for unrooted stock devices) or use the stock rooted version from the "note everything" thread...(pending a rooted device of course.) Or you can Odin push the .tar image from another PC.
"Bigfau" has 3 stock rom variants, all rooted, and all stock. these are zip files, so I'm guessing you are already rooted with CWM ?
If so...you can just download/flash these variants....g

You can not downgrade, and attempts to do so will potentially trip your KNOX counter. At the very least you'll end up soft-bricked and have to do a repair install....of 4.3.

Meat & Potatoes:
I tried ODINing my GN2 back to stock 4.1.2 tonight - I rooted it a couple months ago. Did not install a custom ROM, just rooted (the process also replaced the Recovery).
Tried ODINing back to stock using the files and information found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207
When I run ODIN, it simply fails. Tells me "0 succeeded / 1 failed". Phone still works, I just can't get anywhere in the rolling back to stock bit.
Longer Version:
I've had the phone since the end of January 2013. I rooted it for a couple of reasons, mostly to get rid of bloatware, but also for an app or two that needed root access. I've had zero problems with usability or stability of the device before or since the rooting.
I couldn't tell you which root process I used, but I know it came from an XDA thread, and it automatically replaced the recovery with something touch-based. I'm not sure of the name of the recovery. It did not replace the ROM - I've had less than desirable results from using non-stock ROMs in the past on a handful of other devices, so I wasn't about to risk it.
Since VZW is rolling out the 4.3 update and it looks like a good deal, I want to get my phone back to non-rooted, non-custom-recovery'd state so I can install the update. I'm also doing it because I'm hoping they get the phone up to 4.4 down the line so I can use HCE and GWallet.
Currently, I'm downloading (very slowly, thanks sammobile, for not hosting files on your own servers) the stock VZW 4.3 package from Sammobile.com in hopes I can do something with that and just go straight up from where I am, but I'm not holding my breath since the OTA fails due to the custom recovery.
Any thoughts on what I might try differently to get ODIN to work?
Guys I had the same issue. What I did to resolve my issue is:
1. Get the Verizon upgrade assistance installed on your PC . Here's one from scoobysnack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47368638&postcount=7&nocache=1&z=2813086102250963)
2. Boot to download mode
3. plug in USB and wait for the update message on your PC
4. Update should take about 30-40 min depending on your connection speeds.
5. once updated, your phone should boot back to normal, but you will LOSE everything and have to start all over.
Hope this helps.

Could you kindly copy a link to instructions for getting root with 4.3. I have been looking everywhere and nothing seems to be working. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. How to go back to JellyBean from KitKat with working SafeStrap+Root (Not official KK)

This tutorial is for people with A2 Bootloader only. If you are already on official KK with A3 bootloader, don't use this since it will fail.
A lot of people are wondering how to go back to JB roms from Kitkat. So here's a little guide of how to do that without downgrading back to MJ5.
Assuming you are already on Kitkat rom with root and Safestrap installed.
Please download this togetsafestrap first.
DOWNLOAD ME FIRST
Extract the togetsafestrap folder somewhere you can access easily. ( Credit to Drakey for togetsafestrap method)
**** First backup all the data especially your phone internal storage since everything will be deleted. *****
1. Download the JB rom of your choice and copy it to external SD card.
Skip step 2 & 3 if you are not on SafeStrap 3.7.2
2. Uninstall the SafeStrap recovery.
3. Delete/Uninstall the SafeStrap 3.7.2 apk.
4. Install the SafeStrap 3.71 and install the recovery. (please make sure it says installed.)
5. Put your phone into download mode by either press power, restart, download mode if your rom has 4 ways reboot OR power the phone down, load into download mode by holding volume down+Power+Home buttons for few secs.
6. Connect to the pc. (Make sure all the drivers and everything is configured correctly.)
7. Open Odin from the extracted togetsafestrap folder earlier. Your phone should show up as connected.
8. Put AP and BL from togetsafestrap and press start.
9. Once everything is done successfully, the phone will reboot.
10. Now you should see the Safestrap recovery splash screen and click recovery.
11. Now make sure you wipe everything. (Dalvik cache, cache, data, system under Advance)
12. Install the JB rom of your choice from your external SD card
13. Once the rom is successfully flashed, just reboot it normally and you will be back to JellyBean rom with fully working Safestrap.

Let me know if you have any questions.
All credit to Hash and Drakey.
Thanks to Conekiller for those who have trouble installing 3.71. Please try out the method he did and report back if it works same for you.

For those of you having the issue with safestrap 3.71 not installing the recovery here is the way i was able to do it.
Reinstall the 3.72 recovery
boot into safestrap recovery
wipe rom slot
flash (install) desired jb rom via safestrap
wipe cache/dalvik
go back to main menu
reboot and select download
odin files from op
reboot
setup as usual
install safestrap 3.71
it will show newer recovery
hit uninstall recovery
hit install recovery
done

You can only do mods , flash and restore backups of the same android version, if you're in jb with safestrap then you use it to do all of those, if you're in KitKat now with the update for safestrap you can do the same, but you need the comingfromjb.zip to upgrade to KitKat, and this method to go back to jb. You can use Odin for any mods as long is the same android base.

Yes , the process is due to the fact that since we don't have an unlocked bootloader the different bootloader and files like modem and have to be done in Odin, that's why the two step process to go back and forth. But yes I just finally upgraded to kk, just setting up right now, to get safestrap added. I've had a bunch of previous devices and all got unlocked bootloaders so this was a learning process for myself too, but once you learn it, is easy going back and forth.

I currently have an s5 but most likely I'm returning it because my friend gave me an s4. I've been reading up getting ready to root and everything but it seems there are different methods for downgrading so not sure what my best bet is...all I know is I am currently on NC5. From my understanding I have to downgrade..root..then go back to NC5 pre rooted and start with safestrap (however that's done) lol...I came from an s3 with an unlocked bootloader so this is all new to me ..any help would be appreciated

Just start out and download the downgrade file. If you need Odin I can upload that as well. Then you just put your phone in download mode. And put the downgrade file in the ap slot and click start. It will fail reboot the phone and then use the downgrade system file in the ap slot and it will complete. Then reboot the phone into recovery mode and wipe the cache and do a factory reset data wipe and you should now be on 4.3

Downgrade from Lollipop to KitKat

Maybe I am old and cranky and just dont like new things but I dont like the changes in Lollipop.
Is it ok to downgrade back to KitKat or will I brick my phone?
I have the Sprint Note 3
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I tried ODIN of NK4 and it worked but shows for some reason Version OC5 in ABOUT....I am worried I may have screwed it up. Anyone know what I did wrong? I have googled all afternoon and thought this info came from build.prop which right now reads NH7 actually but if I go into settings about....it says OC5 Software version....wtf is going on????

Hmm... I only downgraded to reinstall the oc5 ota. I never even checked or installed anything with nk4 downgrade. I know others have done it though so... Maybe reflash nk4... Wipe data, take ota, wipe data again, and odin nk4 again. That's about all I can think of man. Sorry you're having issues. I wonder if you can odin back to the one right before nk4. I think it was mc5 or something like that.

I am a high level user but Samsung has fracked it up as usual. I did NK4 a few times (ODIN)....then immediately did hard reset....the trouble with this process is that I need to root to use WANAM to get back that OFFICIAL Status...and that seems to be the issue. If you leave it on CUSTOM...OTA will NOT come through. Even KIES is not reporting it right. I am totally baffled. This is Samsung not Android that is ****ing it up.

Wait, you did something wrong. If you did the nk4 full, with odin, you should be back on official. I was. Did you do anything after you did nk4? Recovery? Anything?

I cannot simply just ODIN NK4/NH7....because my the firmware says CUSTOM....so I have to get that back to official. And the only way that seems to happen is to do a WANAM Framework hack. Am I missing something here? Doing an ODIN of firmware never seemed to change the status back to OFFICIAL (it did on my NOTE 2....but not on the NOTE 3....) they hacked something into the firmware I guess. How do you get back to OFFICIAL state after you do the ODIN? Sorry for my frustrations...I wanna smack Samsung makers right about now
----Maybe flashing a custom rom and then going back to stock via ODIN? Would that reset things? The thing I think I am missing here is the way to get it to say OFFICIAL so I do not get the OTA message saying your phone has been modified in unauthorized way....blah blah....and will not let me get the OTA.

Yes that is what I am trying to tell you without blowing my head off....I did ODIN...It still says CUSTOM....so what did I do wrong?? Is there some step I am missing here like factory reset before or after ODIN??
How do I get status and binary to read OFFICIAL? I always thought you must do this with WANAM framework

Before. You may also have an incorrect tar. Try doing a reset, then the odin. If that doesn't do it you must have an incomplete tar.

I downloaded the TAR again....I will do a reset...then ODIN....but again...will this set back to OFFICIAL?? I thought it did not that you needed WANAM to get that status set back from CUSTOM

Using the xposed module Wanam will set a custom rom status to official yes, but the only way to be REAL official is using odin to do a full firmware "update" (even if it's an older firmware or the same one)

I have done a FULL ODIN as you call it....and that never set me back to Official. I never did a hard reset before doing it so perhaps that is the piece I am missing.

Could be. Have you been using the same odin? Try from a sammymobile (I think that's what it's called.)

I had tried the mirror one. But if you think the top one will work....I will download that. Is it important to factory reset just before doing this???

Yup. Reset, after boot pull the battery, insert battery, boot directly to download mode (I think it's power and vol down and home button) odin the tar. Should be all official after that.
