Update for Gear S? - Samsung Gear S

I just picked up my Gear S yesterday and while playing around in the "Samsung Gear" app I noticed there is a 22MB update for the watch. I never received a push notification to update, I had to manually check. Has anyone seen this or updated their watch, how recent is this update? I just want to make sure this update doesnt break anything in the process of fixing something...

AT&T Software Update Message on my GS2

So, I finally rooted my phone yesterday.
Then, today, I start getting full-screen messages from AT&T saying that there's a software update and they want me to connect to WiFi to download right now. There's only a "next" button and no "cancel" button.
Is anyone else getting this nag screen? I've heard mixed reviews about this update (I presume 2.3.6) and I also read that I'll lose root if I update.
So, how do I kill the nag screen for good? And, if I go forward with the update, will my frozen and layed-over apps (apps I've loaded on top of frozen apps) stay as-is? Or will all the frozen stuff revert back to stock versions?
I did the root method on 2.3.4 that doesn't affect the counter or give any visual notifications, and I understand that rooting in 2.3.6 isn't as easy to do, so I'd rather stick with what I have no rather than go through the upgrade process. But the nag-screen keeps bugging me all day long!
Any info appreciated.
Thx.
I'm in a similar situation - I actually DID the 2.3.6 update, had terrible battery life, spoke to a CSR who said that rooting (in order to flash the previous 2.3.4 official firmware) would NOT void the warranty of my phone (i777). I followed the guide in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18576627#post18576627
Perfection -got my phone back to reasonable battery life, etc. etc. Here's the snag: went into a Barnes and Noble today where my phone automatically connected to the AT&T wifi hotspot and now my phone wants to force me into this update again! Blast it all!
To address your concern about going forward with the update - I would highly recommend not doing so. My battery life dropped like a stone on the update - I'm not talking about a slightly perceived decrease, I'm talking about 2.5 hours dropping me 40%.
To remove the update request, delete or freeze device manager. Do this if you wish to remain on UCKH7.
If you accept the OTA update to UCKK6 while rooted you will retain root.
Right or wrong, I froze Device Management through TiBu.
Edit: Not fast enough!

Ok, I downloaded the update, but postponed installation for 8 hours. I will keep delaying until I find out exactly what this is.

It's the 2.3.6 update that has been talked about here for a while now. Don't update it.
I have also seen the new prompt today. This is actually different from the first one that I was seeing about 3 weeks ago that said there was a new update and the only button was 'OK', this new one has a OK or Postpone. I selected Postpone and then was asked for how long 1,2,4,8 hours.
I have done the same as others and frozen Device Manager, however I am wondering what else this feature does. I would like to know if this will effect any other parts of my phone or just stop the OTA updates.
I had done the stock root a few weeks ago and had never seen anything about updates. Then I was reading about modems and thought I'd give the UCKH7 because I might have better call quality over the UCKH6.
Two days later, I'm at work and notice that my phone is getting warm in my pocket. I took it out only to find it was downloading something... after a little investigating I figured out it was an update and later was given the option to postpone. Knowing I better check it out on XDA before doing anything I postponed and then ended up freezing it with TiBu.
I guess this is an update specific to the UCKH7 modem.....
No, not just modem update. It's the whole update called UCKK6. Do a search and there are multiple problems with this new ROM.
DON'T do it unless you LIKE worse battery life, non-working BT HID devices and other quirks (some ppl have problem with phone calls using the new modem).
AT&T is obviously push the update to everyone now instead of the batch updates.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> [All Tab] -> Device management -> Clear Data
That'll make it stop nagging you about the update until it goes out and checks again.
I have a rooted S2, and I 'checked for updates'
It said I can update my phone and the phone downloaded about 20 MB file by itself and asked for a restart to update the phone. I said yes, restarted the phone, but for some reason, it says, Update Failed.
You guys know the reason behind it?
Thank you
If you rooted and removed some bloatware, your update will likely fail. Why do you want to updat anyway after all the warnings?
You should have known that the minute you rooted your phone, you kiss good bye to official OTA updates. Sometime, it may work but most times it won't work.
My update failed? Where can I delete the file?

You must be rooted.
The easiest way is to use Titanium Backup. If you don't have it, there is a free version as well as paid one. With the free version you can only delete, but with the paid version you can either delete or freeze any application. Install TiBu and then find device manager in the list.
If you want to do it manually, the file can be found in the system folder I believe. I don't remember exactly what it is called, however, and I don't have it on my phone to check.

No need to know the filename of the downloaded update. Simply clear the data on 'Device management' app will do.

Thank you. I've been looking for a way to stop the forced update reminders for a while.
It's insane that you can't stop this reminders easily and they are 'forcing' you to upgrade, specially when 2.3.6 seems to have so many issues as reported here and other forums.

Yes, could you notice any changes?
I got the update this morning, but I am also stuck at 1.50.0415 and not the new 1.55.0428. I am on an S4 if that matters.
I now have 1.55.0428 and R350XXU0BNDC.
I can hardly wait for more details about changes it brings (especially if it finally allows Endomondo connection). Did you get the latest S5 update (released around yesterday) when you were offered the Fit Manager and FW update?
I have an S4, restarted my phone in order to install another system app and then Gear Manager told me automatically after the restart if I'd like to update, then my Gear Fit showed some download on the screen and then the update was done.
I didn't see much new with this update. The only difference I have noticed so far is that if your phone isn't connect to the Fit Manager it shows a ! through the gear manager icon on the top. Oh and the scrolling seems to be much slower when scrolling through an email

When connected to my Fit and getting a phone call it is now appearing different on my S4, like a small preview pop-up.
Is this new?
hi, i tried to install manually the new gear fit manager apk from GamingWiidesire. Now i understand.. This morning, when i received the ota, i accepted it, the gear fit manager was updated, but after the app was restarted, it downgraded automatically to previous version. Thats why i was confused with version number.
Now, when i install the last version from GamingWiidesire, its the same, in can install it, but when i launch gear fit manager, it download the previous version and install, so roll back... Strange

same for me seems the update is just for US devices. Maybe the rollout is later in Europe
I'm from Germany (Europe) with an German Gear Fit and I got the update.
However now I was asked to delete my fit data and make some update and when I did it it also downgraded again. That's why I applied a backup to get the new version again and now I just always decline the pop up so I stay at the newest version.

i just flashed the new firmware with odin after that the new manager is working without a flaw now xD
one thing i noticed so far, except working clock designs, is that the screen is now turning on less often when you don't want it to. so that's a progress:good:

And where did you find the new firmware?

What does this mean inside Gear Manager - pic inside

What is the number to the right on Applications mean? It seems to be a notification of some type such as updates or something but I can't figure how to invoke what it is asking me to do?
Insight appreciated.
I think that means you have 4 apps inside of gear manager that have updates available

I don't think it is. I have my settings to update anytime not just over wifi.
mine had the number 2 next to it.. when i went in to look at what it was, i had 2 updates. I updated the apps and the number went away. It might have just been a coincidence though.
Yep, app updates.

Mines does that. Its update notification. After update is installed, and you enter into that again. It should be gone.

Not all apps can automatic update. It is quite common for some app on certain update require you to manually accept the certain changes. Why don't you just click on it and see if it is indeed apps waiting for updates?

It's gone now. However, there's nothing to click on. If you tap on Gear Apps where that number appears, it simply opens the app store. Today it's gone but there were no indications of any updates, etc.
Still not sure what it was referencing.

As posted above, it is referencing number of apps waiting to be updated. You can find it out in the app store updates section which is not exactly easy to locate. I did that a week ago. The Galaxy app store is not as nice as Google's app store.

Google Keep not interactive on watch

I'm trying to use Google Keep and have uninstalled and re-installed it, but that does not correct the problem of it not being interactive on watch. Checklists made on phone show up on watch, but I can't open them to check items off. Lists made on the watch work correctly. Also, location reminders do not remind. People rave about the app, but I can't get it to work for. Anybody know what do do?
I'm encountering similar issues after updating my watch recently, and also my Note 4 to 6.0.1. I was able to interact with all notes on my watch before the updates, now only the first note will open (no matter which one it is). Unfortunately I'm not sure whether it was the watch update or the phone update which introduced the issue. I will have to try uninstalling/reinstalling Keep at some point to see if that resolves the issue. Was kind of hoping a Keep update might come along to fix the problem :/
EDIT: Wipe app data/Uninstall/Reinstall didn't make any difference, same problem. Guess I'll 'keep' waiting for an update (see what I did there!)

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is the way it works for me - only first note opens, unless there is only one note, and then nothing opens. It's reassuring I'm not the only one, as this is my first experience with Keep. Will hope for an update to fix it.

This is what I've done for a workaround. I made my first note "Placeholder", and find all notes after that first one will open on the watch. Also, with the most recent update, the location reminder works on the watch. That's pretty nice.
