After updating to the latest radio, my upload speeds drastically increased (0.33 Mbps to 1.25 Mbps). I can't help but notice that no matter what my download speeds are, any where from 1.5 Mbps to 4 Mbps, my upload speeds are consistently around 1.25 Mbps. I have also noticed others with higher d/l rates get roughly the same u/l speeds. Are our upload speeds still capped, just a higher cap?

this has been discussed before, there doesn't appear to be a 1.25 cap. many others here have achieved uploads greater than 1.25 Mbps on multiple occasions, including me.
Seems strange that 1.25 Mbps is the norm, regardless of location. Still thanks for the pic, I guess that answers my question.
maybe it is a location thing? not sure. Here is one I just did.
It might just be your area and AT&T sucking on the 4g coverage. I've gotten like... here lemme check... Yea, I just hit 5 meg download 1 meg upload so... Its gotta be your area.

I'm pretty sure 4g isn't enabled in 99% of the att coverage area. So really his 3g coverage sucks. I'm sorry to sound like an ass but I don't know why everyone thinks 4g was enabled last update, all we got was att's full blown 3g that has been enabled for like 3 years that we should have been getting in the first place.

I think its more of an "OMG NEW THING GOTTA HAVE IT OMG I NEED FAST CELLPHONE OMG" kind of reaction. I think its a natural impulse for tech nerds.
I see some people in other areas posting really high speeds compared to mine here in Culver City -
Using the speed test app, these are my speeds in Culver City
On 3G
Download 262kbps, upload 66kbps, ping 116ms - this was at 10 AM and about the same at 2PM
On 4G
Download 1561kbps, upload 480kbps, ping 116ms
I just tested 3G again at 10 PM
Download 398 kbps, upload 550 kbps, ping 116ms
On 4G
Download 443kbps, upload 53kbps, ping 116ms
In Gardena, I get 5-6Mb down and 1-1.5 up on 4G. Haven't run speedtest on 3G there.
At home in San Pedro, 4G is non existent and 3G isn't much better.

I live In Arcadia, west of Pasadena, outdoors on 4G, I get around 6-8 Mbps routinely. Don't check 3G cause I never use it. Indoors I'm about 2-3 Mbps.
I work in Marina Del Ray (hows that for a commute), the 4G signal is so-so... around 5 Mbps.
Culver sucks as far as signal. on the 10 freeway between the 405 and all the way to USC its pretty weak.

it will help but you are kind of screwed where you are... sorry

Thanks - that commute sucks - I'm usually heading to Pasadena for work. If I had work in Arcadia, I'd be going to Woodranch for lunch!
I am in fountain valley. I get 4-8 mb at home. It is amazing I get perfect service in one corner and I move it two feet the 4g signal starts crapping out, lol. on 3g I am between .75 - 2.0 mb at home, it just depends on the time of the day.
In Encino i average
3g
Down-1370
Up-694
4g
Down-7679
Up-1412
Ive noticed Northridge and Encino have the best 4g in the San Fernando valley.

I'm right next to you in Sherman Oaks but not getting anything close to those speeds. Did you do anything like reset your data or call Sprint to have them do a reprovisioning?
Got Long Beach on lock here. I average around 800-1300kbps on 3G. On 4G, its more like 3-5mbps.

Where I work in culver city I don't even get 4g. Nor on my commute or at home. If i go a couple blocks from any location I do. My 3g signal is pretty good everywhere if I'm outside. Inside can be ok to horrendous.
Im down here in San Diego and get consistently lower speeds than any that have been posted so for. And there is NO 4G at all.
I called Sprint and they are sending me a free airave in hopes that it will give me a better connection.
I cannot even talk on my phone at my home because the calls get dropped. I had two calls dropped WITH Sprint technical support on Friday.

Picking this phone up today, curious; what are people getting for upload speeds on HSPA? Is AT&T still capping ~300kb?
Use the search ...

I just ran a few Speedtests (nearest server is 100 k/m). I got 1.8 Mb download and .88 Mb upload on AT&T. Ya, I'm not all that happy either.
I get about 3-5 down and 1.4-2.0 up
i average 4-5mb down, and .8-1.2mb up. louisville KY
Just ran a test. 7.02Mbps down, 1.57Mbps up.

I average 3.5 down and 1.2 up and I live in a major metro area, Houston. Compare to 3gs, 1.2d & .4u; and Inspire "4g", 1.8d & .7u.
The Atrix is much better and when compared to an aggregate of my friends EVO on Sprint's WiMax I'm just 500kb download below him for an average.
Thanks for all your replies...my only other question, does the stock modem cap or does it get higher upload speeds than the "300 kb/s cap"?
hey guys, any of you experienced slow data with goldenrod.ko and miks 6.5.8? i'm only hitting 1mbps on my phone :s

Try different sites for speedtest .i always feel the speedtest.in app shows faulty speeds..when i tether data to my lappy it shows 3x speeds..also use uc webbrowser for fastr downloads..

Try the 3G TurboCharger script from here and make sure you are using HDSPA if you want the highest speed ("h" icon in taskbar). The mobile data modes are (from slowest to fastest) GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HDSPA. Each mode display it's first character on the mobile data icon in the status bar.
Will this work on the optimus v? I could always only get 1.3Mbps with bursts up to 2Mbps and never stays at 2Mbps for even a second.
It's universal.
it depends on the operator, and user load at the time of using it...
i constantly get speeds of 5 Mbps while normal downloads and speeds upto 6.5 Mbps when dowloading with IDM.

Wow, you are really lucky 5Mbps, i get 3.5mbps eventhough the server is behind my flat and i only get 2 bars on old baseband while on new baseband i always get full signal...
i also get only 2 or 3 bars, in 3g mode if u get even 1 bar its enough to throttle to max speeds.......
i get same speeds even in 1 bar too..
as i said it depends on the user load not the signal quality, atleast for me.

But isn't it limited? 98 bucks==2gb right?
I'm using a similar trick as you do but get 435kb/sec avg but unlimited

I thought the max logical speed is 3.1Mbps how can you end up getting higher than what the technology is rated for? Also how would I go about getting this on my phone to try it out? I have been fairly happy getting up to 1.5Mbps but if I can get even faster then I wouldn't mind at all.
max logical speed is 7.2 Mbps(=900kbps) Download speed and 5.76 Mbps Upload speed..
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_one_p500-3516.php
Well I have a LG Optimus V and all I can find on data rates is the EVDO rev A which says it can only go up to 3.1Mbps.
I'm wondering for all those using the DNA from the T-Mobile network what speed you're all seeing. I'm about to give up on my 15 year relationship with Big Red to save some cash. I managed to get VZW to lower my monthly bill but I could save another $40 by switching to TM.
My problem is that I use 30 gigs and need the speed.
What say all of you out there?
Sent from my DLX using xda app-developers app
I don't know if T-Mobile has a plan that offers 30gb of data. The speeds depend on where you are. Anywhere that hasn't refarmed hspa to 1900mhz and is still running on 1700mhz, you won't get any high speed data, only edge. In my area, bay area california ATT was the better option. The max speed I got on T-Mobile was around 7-8 mbps
Yeah, I'm north bay myself. If getting 8Mbps is normal I might just be able to work with that. Att wouldn't be able to save me much compared to T-Mobile.
Their unlimited plan would get me the data I use... as long as it's fast enough.
Thanks for the heads up.

fairfield here i get 4-7 mbps on tmo

Do you have unlimited on Verizon?
---------- Post added at 05:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
It will be a nice day when all the providers can provide decent speeds in most areas, Verizon has so much better coverage. They have no reason to increase caps or lower prices, most likely we will see a "Double Your Data Deal" that will evolve into the regular plan prices.
Gave the DNA to the wife and sold her S3... Then gave up my Unlimited data plan with Red for the same on T Mobile.
Went Note 3 also... $20 a month and still cheaper than vzw.
Now, the 3g/spa speeds were between 2-8 Maps depending on location and towers. I was happy with that but tired of not getting the phone I really wanted.
Lte here I Santa Rosa, CA had been between 8-25Mbps. Just found out TM is switching to Lte on a tower half a mile away from my house...
Also, while I love vzw I can say every person I've talked to in customer service, tech support and retail at T-Mobile have been amazing.

I live in a smallish city in Arizona, where we're not yet up to Phoenix cosmopolitan speeds, and I get 4-5.7Mbps here (generally) on T-Mo. If it matters, I'm running either of Newt's two ROMs.
you will get hspa but since half the band is missing you get half or less than half the speed, my phone and others who use gsm/tmo switches from 3g to H kinda of a lot but really the speeds are acceptable, i can watchin live streaming or youtube just fine, remeber 7 mbps is 1 megabyte/s down and thats more than enough to do everything online even 1080 streams.
