[Q] camera app missing modes, options - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hey guys, my fiancé has the AT&T M8 and one day we noticed that 1, the camera is blurry (but I fixed that) and 2, her camera app is missing different options such as panorama, etc. I took a screenshot of what happens. Also the soft keys are always in landscape when in the app even if I am holding it in portrait. I tried cleaning the app cache, then app data, and nothing seems to be working. Even did a factory reset and no luck. This happened suddenly 2 weeks ago. She is bone stock, never rooted. Any help? I haven't had any luck finding anyone else with this exact issue. Thanks!

Theres a camera update on playstore,if on stock id try that first if that doesnt work factory reset phone

Already tried a factory reset and I don't see an update for any Play Store HTC camera app. She uses google camera as a back up but the stock HTC Camera app I don't see anything in the Play Store

If not mistaken google camera screws up the htc camera,do a playstore search for htv camera i just updated two different m8 the other day to it

Google launcher (and maybe other non sense/blinkfeed launchers) seriously hinders the camera functionality. If u are using a non-sense launcher (ha, that sounds funny) try switching back to sense/blinkfeed and re-open the camera app.

Id suggest trying to flash the ruu of the device, either the build your on or the 2.23.502.3 thats available

Looking for HDR Camera...

I can't get the app "HDR Camera" to show up on the market from my rooted eris. I installed the eris market patch and Skype is showing up, so is more than 7 or 8 "US Bank" showing up, but not HDR Camera. Have they dropped out or something? Anyone know what might be going on?
Thanks...
Connortn
i have this one, its HDR Camera+ v1.64. latest version. works for me 100%.
no hdr camera apps show up for me in the market.
Rickyjohn... Do you know how I can get this on my eris? I tried the market patch mentioned here on another post that was suppose to allow me to see all the apps, rebooted, waited till after midnight as they said you need to do sometimes (something about the clock) and still cannot see HDR Camera. I can see it while visiting the market from my laptop, just not my eris.
Suggestions?
just download the apk i provided onto your laptop. sync your phone with your laptop. click and drag the apk onto the root of your sd card. then navigate to the file using a file manager program, i recommend "astro", free from market. click the apk and hit the button "open app manager" and install. and then u good to go! let me know how it goes
Oh! I didn't see the link at the bottom of your post
Will try when I get home.
Thanks...
If anyone is following this thread anymore -- what version of the market are you using and does it recognize the HDR camera app as compatible with the ERIS? I'm on condemndedsoul's cm7 rom. I saw this thread last week and downloaded the app from the market with no problems (cool by the way). Well, now the new market has been forced on me and i can no longer download in the market. It recognizes the app as installed, but if i uninstall it will not let me re-install it, there's just no install button. Same problem on a couple of other apps (facebook, documents to go, android agenda widget). The web market says that the HDR Camera app is not compatible with the device. Your help in diagnosing is appreciated!
In the past no HDR cameras shown up for me in the market. But when i seen your post I looked in the market and WTH!, i have one free and one pro available. So uninstalled the one i had and went in to the market and installed the HDR Camera+ and it works with no problems. Im running GSB v3.8 by workshed. My market version is 2.3.6. And in the web market both the HDR camera apps show up. Your Rom or market version maybe....but just guessing.
As it turned out, it was my rom. All fixed, but thanks for the response!

That's what happens when you use a crappy rom lol
I just downloaded & installed HDR Camera from the market with no issues. Running Condemned v17 S2H.
Anybody get this app to work correctly? Mine just takes three of the same exposure and merges them, but it is supposed to bracket the three shots. Come to think of it, I don't think any eris cameras allow setting exposure, or am I crazy?

No Camera App CM10

I have the latst CM10 that was posted on the forums but the camera app is not showing for me. Anybody know why? I installed gapps.
Nobody ha this issue before? I know the camera works because I can use it in google hangouts, I just don't have a camera app. Is there somewhere I can get it or does anyone understand why the stock isn't showing up?
It's odd that you don't have a camera app since it's a system app. Could you have accidently disabled it? If you didn't, you can find the Android 4.2 camera and flash it. Works fine except for photosphere.
Had the same problem; I was following one of the tutorials that advised to desactivate Gallery, but the photo app dissapeared when doing so. Reactivating Gallery brings back the photo app. Hope this helps...
the gallery apk does contain the camera runtimes, they aren't seperate.

[Q] Galaxy S3 'Camera stopped working' after Jellybean Update

Hi
Can anyone else run the stock Camera app after the Jellybean update?
There's a yellow box around the shutter and when I go to take a photo the application crashes.
Other camera apps work fine!

I've been using it, and it works fine with me. Do you have any apps that may affect the camera? And was it working fine with ICS?
No extra apps, yes it did work in ICS.
I'm hoping someone with a working camera in JB can dump the firmware for me

I updated Insert Coin Rom to 3.0 and my camera hasnt worked since. updated tuesday, and only went to use my camera yesterday and discovered it freezes on opening. flashlight toggle in my notifications bar also causes system UI to crash.
switched to Anonorom this morning, factory reset, restored apps + data from Titanium Pro, same thing. camera and flashlight both crash my system UI.
which sucks cause previous IC rom was great.
any help would be awesome. otherwise i guess i'm either flashing rom's or doing a full factory reset and restoring manually i guess..

clearing camera data, got me 2 extra seconds of function by giving me the move to sd card option. LOL.

First step is always factory reset .
Followed by flash stock firmware .

Also started having this issue last week, more than a month since I got my 4.1.2 OTA from T-mobile.
From what I experienced, both incidents when I was out, were in low light, and after I enabled low light mode within the camera controls.
There would be a freeze, then app crash returning to the homescreen.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of info on this, and I'd really like to know what is causing it.
I have a feeling it is a setting in the touchwiz camera... because other camera apps (vignette, eyeem) launch the camera fine and without issue.

I started getting the freeze issue a few weeks back. I removed the SD card and tried the phone without it and it was fine again. Wiped the SD card and put it back in and all is working again. Hope this helps some of you.

Camera closes after taking pic...

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine

Camera crahses

One of the best parts of the v10 is the camera, after I rooted the camera now randomly crashes, and i cannot open it, snapchat, twitter, anwhere.
Does anyone know what couls be the issue, I can post any logs you might need to diagnose
You've most likely already tried this, but have you tried force stopping the camera app and clearing the data and cache? If you download another camera app, like Google Camera, does it crash too?

Yep that dkesnt work, and when i open a different camera app it says it cant reach the camera.
This all started happening after I stsrted messing witht the mixer_paths.xml file, but that shouldnt affect it since that deals only with audio and I only played with the DAC volume
My front facing camera started crashing before I rooted. Nothing including factory reset has fixed it . Guessing it's a hardware issue. I'm not on marshmallow yet
Try factory reseting then flashing the kdz again. The camera uses a lot of audio drivers for video recording.
