hi everyone
I want to decompile the Settings.apk of the Lenovo A3300-GV with 4.4.2 Android version
My Steps :
1. i install the framework-res.apk
2. i decompile the Settings.apk
after Recompile comes the Error: (without any change)

I use the latest ApkTool and another tools etc apkmultitool , Advanced ApkTool . but my problem not solved
the lenovo framework is installed . another lenovo apps compiled and work fine. Only this is making trouble - I`m using apktool a lot and compiled apk`s, but this problem is new - hope someone has a solution.

Im trying to create some mods for stock deodexed roms, and I need to compile SecSettings.apk, but when i try to compile it using apktool it show some problems. is there anything special should be done, since its JB and not ICS?
What I did was installing framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk, decompiling, adding and changing some files (XML's) and trying to recompile it.
One more thing, id does work if I don't change anything in the decompiled files.
Anyone know what to do?

Provide the whole error log, It`s very hard to say what you might did wrong without looking at the actual log.
When I tried to do some modding with the the framework-res.apk file I encountered several compiler errors. Normally this was caused by my mistakes meaning that I screwed up somewhere with the code.
So what I'm trying to say is first look at the errors one by one and then try to make a connection to your modifications. Review the code that you changed or that you added. It could very well be that you screwed up somewhere (easy to do). Normally I found the errors within my modifications and could fix them by looking at the compiler errors and afterwards they disappear when trying to compile.

From a troubleshooting perspective, there are some easy rules.
1) Forget warnings. They're just warnings.
2) Fix errors in order. Always fix the very first error. Fixing the first error often fixes most (if not all) of the other errors, so never start with error 2.
For example, OP's error was obvious

OP either added round_more_icon.xml without adding ic_btn_round_more.isl or deleted ic_btn_round_more.isl
Fixing that would have been a good start to his other errors.
I am using apktool to make some edits. I am running into errors when recompiling my SystemUI. At this point I am just decompiling then recompiling to see if I can get it to do it. I am on the most recent sdk and thus also the newest aapt. (that for 4.2.2). I also updated my apktool and smali/baksmali (although my previous package worked flawlessly with 4.2.2 on my nexus 7). I am loading my framework-res to system with the "if" command, even tried loading twframework-res there too. I am at a total loss as to what my issue is. How are you devs making edits and recompiling your SystemUI?

I'm having similar issues with SystemUI. Same errors (building on Linux), but it builds the APK. However, once I push the APK to /system/app, reboot into recovery and fix permissions, I lose the status bar completely.
I can post a logcat later this evening.

I'm having similar issues with SystemUI. Same errors (building on Linux), but it builds the APK. However, once I push the APK to /system/app, reboot into recovery and fix permissions, I lose the status bar completely.
I can post a logcat later this evening.

I am new to rom development and am having an issue getting AOSP to build. I haven't started customizing yet becuase I wanted to build stock first. When I try to build on Ubuntu 16.04 I get this error:
