After gear,gear2, moto 360 and gear S I can tell you this: tiezen is way ahead of android wear and you could do so much more with gear S than with all other watches. It looks so nice. It's a very nice product. Works well.
One thing I miss from moto 360 - qi charging. So convenient, so simple ( I charged my watch even in my car). If samsung could implement in a future product qi charging, they will get -again- my money.
P.S. Put a screen protector as soon as you can, the curved glass is prone to hits and scratches even more than an normal watch
Can you list a few things that Tizen on Gear S is better than Android Wear?
I had no experience with Android Wear but heard the quite opposite opinion from owners moving from those watches. I know aside from SMS and Email, you pretty much can't respond to any other notifications on Gear S.
Notifications Gear S will allow you to be able to reply to some apps. One of them is hangouts. It's 1.50 in the play store. It's a little buggy but better then nothing. Qi charging would be nice. The battery dock is kind of a pain. Nice that it has a built in battery to it though.
Didn't have the first gear, but yeah!

Android wear...no phone aps except answer/reject. Notification only from Google cards and a few apps. Very limited functionality. The plus..is simple and is working. P.S. My moto 360 did not always reconnect with my phone. Gear 2/gear s always within the range of bluetooth. But if you are really interested you can find a review with wear/tizen compared, or YouTube video.
P.S.2 media controller from gear S works with the default player...I can control poweramp or neutron from my watch. As far as I know on wear you must use Google music for that.

I had no idea the charging dock had a small battery in it. What is the purpose for that? Other than to transfer trickle charge from the small battery to the main battery in the watch. Hey, I guess I just answered my question...lol

So you can take the dock with you. Power on go.
Yep. Basically a travel charger without cords.

this is my exact experience with Android Wear as well..
At this point, Android wear is pretty useless, compared to what the Gear S can do/ or does...no comparison

This is simply incorrect. I have a Moto 360 and a Gear S and the 360 interacts with most third party apps. As a matter of fact, it does so in a much more refined manner than the S. I can "like" posts, respond to them and choose to just dismiss or delete them......something the Gear S is not capable of, and on a lot more apps than the Gear since the Gear only truly supports Samsung apps well (even then not fully ie you cannot truly delete an email from your S even if you use the Samsung email app on your phone).
And yes, you can control Spotify and other music apps on the 360 as well.....something I can't do on my S.
As far as phone functionality, of course, it's better on my S......since it's actually a phone.
I found out that you can control Google Play Music using the music player thingy on the Gear S, but it just doesn't show the album art. The next, pause, previous, etc all work though.
Yes, you can select whether you control the music in the Gear itself or on the phone. It also controls volume. So far I've used it to control Milk, Beyond Pod and Google Pay Music on my phone.
I'm thinking about getting the Gear S to replace my second line. I'm currently using a Moto 360, can anyone give me their thoughts. I've looked at on the store, but I do like that it can stand alone. Thanks for your suggestions.
well, there is a complete forum for all the Samsung Gear Watches here on xda,, and one on Android central too, so you should probably read as much as you can, then go to the store and see how you like it.
personally, I prefer the samsung watches alot more than the Android Wear stuff, as they DO alot more with your phone than the Android wear stuff does at this point; no sound from any android wear watch, cant make or receive calls on them, and so on.
the simple answer is if you want a watch that is more of a watch than a smart watch, then Android wear is a better choice. if you like to tinker, and interact more with your phone/watch, then the samsung gear stuff is more for you.

You didn't use use google didn't you?
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/airplay
One option would be doubleTwist with the optional AirSync plug-in (which adds the Airplay functionality). Otherwise, you could just mirror the Prime's display using the micro hdmi output directly to the television for a wider choice of content.

But this doesn't mirror the Prime's screen, which is what I'd like to be able to do. AFAIK that isn't currently possible. Correct me if I'm wrong. We have an AppleTv in one of our conference rooms at work and I would like to link to it for presentations, etc.
Thanks for the responses. It seems that the solution I'm looking for does not exist. Shame... I will however install one of the airplay apps & see how that works out.

I do actually. Do you understand the question I asked, because your link doesn't answer my question...
If you have a 3rd Gen Apple TV then doubletwist doesn't work with Video. It works well with Audio. I had a case going on with doubletwist where they ended up refunding me the cost of the Airsync plug in as it wasn't working as it was supposed.
I think with 2nd Gen Apple TV you might be alright, but I haven't tried it.
I was trying out an app called 'iMediaShare' or something of the likes the other day. I was able to go through photos, videos, music (as long as it is stored on your device and not in gMusic), and youtube over an Apple TV. Looking through it, I do not see any way to go through PDFs or CAD designs though. For everything, your best bet as of now would be to use the mini HDMI and find separate apps for everything.
I have tried both AppleTV media player & iMedia player, but I cannot even see the Apple TV in the devices list. Its a third gen...

I currently have an iPhone 5 and a rooted Motoactv fitness watch. I saw an ad for a device that mirrors your iOS screen onto a watch thats powered by android. However, the watch does not have a release date. The watch is called "Starfish." I was wondering if they're are any android applications that will mirror my iPhone's display on them and perhaps use touch input to control them? My iPhone is jailbroken so installing an app on my iPhone side is ok. I've considered something like VNC but when I'm out and about it needs to maintain a connection between the phone and the watch. Bluetooth perhaps? Just wondering if this could be done or if anyone is willing to work on it? I do not know anything about developing but I have a lot of good ideas.
Was wondering if someone can help me with an issue I'm having with programming the watch on app with my availability receiver.
I have a Samsung TV, blue ray player, cable vision dvr, and Denon AV receiver. I can program everything but having an issue with my Denon receiver. The watch on app allows me to setup the receiver and I can actually turn it on and off no problem. But I can't adjust the volume at all? I sent in a service ticket but have not gotten a reply just yet. I've tried setting up the watch on app to control volume through the receiver, but again nothing happens when I press the volume button.
Can someone help me out on this? What am I doing wrong here?

Probably a Q & A -
But honestly - if your serious about using Google your phone as a remote, I would highly suggest Smart Remote for the s4 app (colortiger) . Macros, zones, widgets, huge range of devices. Controls my Denon just fine, and the xbox very well. I used watch on once, and looked elsewhere immediately after having several issues and a lack of options (nfc etc). A bit pricey, but worth it IMO. I also own Touchsquids comparable app... Not as pretty, but functional and I like that it saves my profile between flashing new roms.
I am in no way affiliated with either, just my seasoned opinion on the subject - as I can offer no real help or suggestions on the particular problem. I have heard of many issues (as well as perks) with watchon, but as with most preloaded stock, it often falls short of a good developer equivalent. Check it out tho:

Ok so the smart remote app is definately miles ahead of the watch on app as far as programmability goes. Way more buttons and options than the watch on app. Thank you for introducing me to this app. We'll worth the $10

I am using Touchsquid Remote for Samsung that you can get from Play. It is more expensive more highly customizable. I like having multiple configurations and setups (bedroom, family room, etc.)
It is more expensive but well worth the money. You can even have buttons that link you to other apps.
What I would like to have is a nice Spotify app for the Gear Fit.
The media manager doesnt show which song is playing etc. It works for the songs played from the media player on the phone ofc but not as well with Spotify.
What i would like to be able to do:
Chose Playlist
Add songs to favourites / other playlists
See an icon with the artist like on spotify (maybe as background for the app/clock while music is playing?)
(Being able to search for music maybe isnt needed , it would be to bothersome, better pick up the phone)
Also i have a qustion about the built in memory in the Gear Fit , would it be possible to create an app which would make it possible to use the watch as a standalone medie device? like if youre going to work and dont want to bring your phone with you.
Ex: Download a spotify playlist and play it from the watch directly to bluetooth speakers or something
The real question would be how much memory the Gear Fit has , and if we can access it.
Best Regards / Christoffer
P.S If you are experienced in programming these apps, please be so kind a send me a mail , would like to learn how to make my own apps for this watch and maybe could be of help if needed Do have earlier programming experience, third year computer science engineer.

This is fairly much the only thing that i feel is missing from my gear fit. I would be willing to help out if you need or send you some cash to help finish it.
I understand there is a music player. You can control the music from the music player on your phone or on your watch, but I use Spotify most of the time and don't actually have any music on the phone itself. Right now I have the Gear Live and it works great for media control. Anything that would pop up controls on my lock screen, for instance: I also get controls for video too like Netflix when I'm streaming to Chromecast. I've been unhappy with the very limited cards interface of Android Wear and was looking at the Gear S but I really need media controls.
Also will the Gear S only work with Samsung Messages? Can I use Samsung Messages on the watch while using something else on my phone? Right now I'm using the Google Messenger app they just released with the beautiful material design look.
I would love it to have basic Bluetooth music controls also which is a MUST. Very few ppl still use the stock music apps and not online services.
That way we can control other devices and stereos also.

Hm. So the Media Controls app doesn't seem to have made it to the Gear S even though it is on the Gear 2 and all of the others. Not sure why it isn't there.
The Gear S will only work fully with Samsung's messaging app on the phone. Hangouts functionality beyond notifications is locked down to Android Wear and Android devices by Google.
So there is no Spotify control on gear s? ?
I control Spotify flawlessly from my gear s. It's a wonderful feature.
Actually there is one. Stock music player is the basic bluetooth media controller.. just click 3 dots on the bottom right of the widget. Then you have option to 1 control device and 2 control music on the gear. Choose control device. Now you can control the media with your gear s.
I call samsung as samsuck but its not that sucks to remove basic bluetooth media controller. Hope it helped =)

Stock Gear S (EU version at least) fully work with Hangout. You can answer by canned answer or by Keyboard or by Voice Input You must install also the Wear app even if you have not a Wear Device, (answer API are in Wear app and not on phone app)
Otherwise there are app on store for extended notification wich works for Gear S with not last firmware (from specific operator).
The Gear Notification Extender app in the Play Store let's me use forward and backward and pause controls when I'm listening to Google Play Music from my phone.
