Nexus 6 external storage? - Nexus 6 Accessories

Has anybody had any luck getting something like a sandisk dual USB stick to work as external storage via the micro USB port?

update: stickmount from chainfire worked!

Some have had success with es file explorer, root explorer, & nexus media importer. May need to format the drive though

Corsair Flash Voyager GO
I have that sandisk posted in the 2nd post. I like that but it cannot be put on a keychain properly so you tend to lose the USB. I just purchased the Corsair Flash from Amazon. It comes with a ring to put on your keychain and the biggest thing it has USB 3.0. Plus its sleek and less bulky.

Meenova FTW
BOOM!

I have a meenova first gen, the sanfidk in 64 GB, and the Kingston with the flip cover in 32 GB. Just ordered the corsair in 64 GB, lol. I had lost the Kingston, and I will use the sandisk with my n7.

I like this option best, small format factor, and you can reuse your existing microSD card up to 128 Gigs
But can you confirm that this supports the Nexus 6?

I can confirm it works on the nexus 6 mounting with stickmount.

I have the Meenova 1st Gen...just feel like too many parts and slow transfer rates....still like my Corsair but Meenova is definitely one of the best and more cost effective

This is sort of off topic, but I just took switched my case from a Spigen Neo-hybrid to a Rinke slim, and now my sandisk works with the case on. :highfive:

I got the sandisk cause it was dirt cheap <$20 it is kinda clunky...thanks!

FYI I also found the power draw on these is high...even with a 1amp qi charging pad can not charge the battery when USB stick is attached...it minimizes the drain but will not charge until the stick is removed. YMMV

Amazon Deal of the Day: Lexar MicroSDHC 32 GB Class 10 Flash Memory Card + Reader $40

Just thought I'd post it in the TF201 forum since it's everywhere else. Idk how good this card is given the tests ran in another post (that I can't find). Apparently the Samsung class 10 is better but this one is at good price, for now. Jump on it.

Thanks for putting this up. I'm a total n00b when it comes to this but can you explain why it's not as good as everyone says it is?
The 4k write numbers are horrible (they represent random access)
The Seq write number does confirm it's class 10 (that represents bulk writes like vid or pic capture)
Here's the samsung card (albeit hard to find but is instore of some Fry's for ~$50)
(Source)
Is there a model number for the Samsung?
I got mine from here.
http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SAMMSDHS32G10C
Not sure if it's the same one curreyr is talking about though.
That samsung is the same model number I have on order. Will test when it arrives.
P.S. I miss not having a Fry's nearby. Before I moved I coulda picked one up today at the Renton, WA fry's ;(
I think I got this not on sale but works great, transfers files fast enough for me.
I got in on the Amazon deal from yesterday. Price is back up to almost $60.
Thanks for the heads up broken1i!
Just got mine in. 4K random writes aren't a big deal to me, as I will use it mostly for storing movies/TV shows/music.
Once inserted, it sits flush with the edge of the tablet, as viewed from the front. I'm sure you could still have accidental ejections if you don't have a case that protects it.
Also, I didn't realize how slow MTP was until I was doing some tests with this card... copying a 700 MB movie to it took 3 and a half minutes over MTP, but only 1 if the card was plugged into my PC via the included USB adapter.

yea, and a class 4 would suffice for the same (I have a card I'm dedicating for that purpose too).

I think that's sorta the problem. Your case is likely to prevent the issue, but if it doesn't kiss $40 goodbye.

Oh gawd, yea, MTP is the worst thing MicroSloth ever inflicted upon the industry.
Thankfully, we can use adapters to transfer data to/from the cards (sadly via "sneaker net").

Yes, but the class 10 makes copying things onto it a lot faster. And a good 32GB Class 4 would have still been $30, so it's a good deal in my book.

Post your GNOTE with accessories!

Hey guys, thought I'd share the accessories I've gathered up so far for the note...mostly to point out that I recommend them all. The iGo Stowaway BT keyboard is awesome, works wonders for me...coding on the fly, taking notes in class, etc. I've got a SanDisk 64gb sdxc card in there: works great (once you format to fat32). Got a Mountek car mount, MT5000-c: the one that slips in to the CD player...love that thing, basically have a TV in the car, the wife is spoiled when we're driving around! The spare batteries are by Hyperion, seem to hold their charge pretty well...no complaints yet, can't go wrong with 3 batteries in rotation (the other hyperion is in the GNote)...The case is a cheap Otterbox type of case minus the screen protection (i forget who makes them): so far it's awesome and will work until I get a defender case or something, it has a kick-stand too (flimsy, but works)...my only complaint about the case is that the MHL doesn't fit and I have to remove the case when I want to connect it. And finally, the MHL cable by Skivia, also works great (no issues with audio). Just waiting on my USB OTG cable to arrive from China...I'll be using that mainly to connect a mouse. Post your pics!
Update: the case is made by Reiko (Hybrid Case)

SanDisk WiFi / USB personal network drive or stick

Just what we need for our DNA's to solve our lack of sd slot... I have a Seagate WiFi external portable Harddrive.. but these are even more portable. I am going to order the 32GB from Bestbuy to use with my OTG cable for my DNA. Figure I can "plug in" for Recovery and Titanium backups then use WiFi for Streaming Music and Video.
The 16GB stick is $49.99 & the 32GB Stick $59.99 on Bestbuy.com
Drive's priced $99.99 for 64GB on Amazon's site.

Okay... Picked this 32GB WiFi stick up earlier today... And was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a WiFi stick with a 32 GB SanDisk Ultra Micro SD card within the unit (which is a $40 class 10 card).
Sent from my HTcDNAoNE
Another thing I found cool was that you can be connected to the WiFi stick and still be connected to the internet via your WiFi Network at the same time (something my older Seagate WiFi harddrive I mentioned in the OP isn't able to do).
Sent from my HTcDNAoNE
is it possible to use the wifi storage at the same time with 3g connection?
otherwise you will loose internet when using the stick on the road with your mobile.

Which SD Card is better??

Anyone know which one is better to use and why?

The red ultra one is "better" in that is has a higher speed rating.
The black one is Class 4 (4 MB/s minimum speed). Some folks on here have mentioned that Class 4 is too slow for Zoe clips (and other functions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732418
The red/gray "Ultra" card is UH1 or UHS Speed Class 1, which is minimum 10 MB/s.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Speed_class_rating
This is all assuming that the SD cards are genuine (purchased from a reputable source, etc.) and as-marked. Places like eBay are flooded with counterfeit SD cards, marked falsely with incorrect company logos, speed class ratings, capacity, etc.
I just got the same "Ultra" card as in your photo (Sandisk 32 GB) from Amazon to use on my M8.
And how has it been working for you?

Can't really say yet. I just go it (and put into the phone) Saturday afternoon. All is fine so far, but all I've done is put music on it, and taken a couple photos.
I've always used Sandisk for my mobile devices, and they have always been reliable and work great.

Oh ok. I always had both cards for almost a year now but I was always using the black sd card because I had so much stuff on it I got the red one two months after I had the black one so I never took the time to copy everything over to it until yesterday. It took like 2 hours .

25GB useable on 32GB model

Here is a video with a decent look at the graphite. If you notice at about 2:30, he clicks on storage and it shows that there is 25.01GB of usable space.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME0DzPEjuv8
Sorry if this is old news.
which means the OS is about 4.79 GB in size, so 54.8GB for 64GB model, 114.4GB for 128GB model
I believe they mentioned about 50 for the 64 version

nah... they thought since 64 is double of 32, everything must be doubled. they've also miscalculated for OS partition being doubled. pretty sure 64gb variants have more than 50gb available storage.
if you wipe out the whole phone you can have your 32gb
youll just have a brick though
Seems normal...not to worry.
I'm debating whether I should go for the 32gb flavor now rather than wait for 64gb to come back in stock. I'm hoping to have the device before Thanksgiving as I return stateside by then. Given the shipping timeframes I'd be cutting it close if I waited any longer for the 64gb flavor.
I guess I could also go the route of the USB-C flash drive but suspect having to carry that sucker around would be cumbersome...

You might be screwed either way if you didn't order anything before now. I ordered mine on 10/10 and look.
