I found a bootanimation somewhere on the internet a while ago, maybe reddit. i don't recon now.
But it was only in low resolution and the png's from the gif wasn't extracted
So i decided to download the gif from the source http://www.christiantailor.co.uk/?portfolio=marvel-dc-character-loop
And then i only compiled it in gif2boot in resolution XHDPI sort of. But it looks much better on the device.
Below is a preview of the gif

You have to put the bootanimation.zip in root/system/media and give it permission 644 (rw-r-r) and delete the original bootanimation. The android boot is probably the default android boot.

works just fine on Z3 compact, looks off tha chain.
thanks yo.
* you can't overwrite the original boot animation.zip. First delete the original one, than copy the marvell one (not extracted, leave it as .zip) into ROOT/system/media and restart phone. Done :good:

Boot screen freeze
Hi, thanks a lot for sharing. I did everything as instructed and after reboot the animation showed up and looks awesome. The problem is that it seemed the system is stuck here and the animation looped over and over again for at least 1 minute before I force it to turn off. I tried boot again and it remained the same so I have to flash the backup. I just wanna ask if it's normal to take a long time booting after altering the boot animation so I just have to be more patient and wait, or something went wrong?

Any touchwiz software is highly dependent on the stock Samsung framework, for releasing a working touchwiz launcher for CM will require a lot of difficult modification of the framework file's(currently I don't think it's possible to mod CM framework to act like the touchwiz framework, but not sure though, the world is a crazy place anything can happen) , anyway I would like to see the S3 port for CM which you mentioned, which most probably could be another launcher which is heavily modded.

I am very impressed with that touchwiz pack it does seem like a valid port of the touchwiz framework with a few other touchwiz apps(even though I still have my doubts) i will give you simple instructions to try and replace the launcher with the required launcher file, first of all download this file, extract it and take out only the file named SecLauncher2.apk(in system/app folder), now extract your touchwiz pack and replace the SecLauncher2.apk(in its system/app folder), re-zip the extracted files(be careful not to zip the folder you extracted to, this new zip should look exactly like the previous one) make sure you have signature check disabled before flashing(only do this if you have signature verification failed error) flash the zip file, now you have successfully flashed the new stock launcher of JB xwlsn. Also since its a CM port it is possible that the touchwiz problem is due to small porting error's or incompatibilities.
Edit :be carefull with this procedure or just refer some guide on creating a flashable zip file and use the SecLauncher2.apk, there are other methods also like pushing via aroma file manager and correcting permissions.

Yes it's RWRR but if you're flashing, the updater - script file (inside the flashable zip) usually should contain the set_perm command which will correct the permissions. Otherwise you should be able to correct permissions from cwm.

This ROM is now built using the latest linaro 4.7.4 toolchain and comes with my modified version of Bricked kernel (thanks showp1984) My kernel source can be found here.
The ROM is compatible with other aosp based kernels, but if they dont have mpdecision or thermald built in you should rename them by removing the -bck at the end of the file name. The 2 files are located in system/bin.
I have also added QuickBoot, this enables you to power the device on/off in 1-2 seconds and puts it into hibernation.
This can be disabled in developer settings.
The following are configurable in the init.d file 99kernel
DoubleTap2Wake
Sweepp2Wake
Sweep2Sleep
Magnetic on/off
Battery voltage mod
These are disabled by default. More options will be added soon.
To edit this file use any good root file explorer. It is system/etc/init.d/99kernel and is pretty self explanatory once you open it.
Make sure permissions are set to rwx r-x r-x after editing.

You can view my work by clicking here.
If you would like to build this ROM just run the following comand to import my local manifest (after you have set up the build environment and performed a repo init ofcoarse).
You can fin a guide for your device Here
Code:
wget -O ~/android/system/.repo/local_manifests/bruce2728_manifest.xml https://raw.github.com/bruce2728/local_manifest/kitkat-mr0/bruce2728_manifest.xml
Once you have done that simply run a 'repo sync' to pull in my repos.

The guilty is of zip used for flash the mod.
Needs a zip for 4.3.
Download a recent mod like airwiev style and use it for flash this mod.

Check your wi-fi now..it won't turn on

Here's the updated flashable zip that won't break the wi-fi. Zip provided in OP is compatible with other devices but it isn't compatible with Note2 on 4.3 fw since it uses new vrtheming script. Hence flashing older vrtheme on 4.3 fw will break wi-fi.
Download-
http://www.mediafire.com/?wg9728alrx0jr78 @Kik0o, update the OP so that users won't flash the older zip and break their wifi.

Of course! I did it!
Copy SystemUI.apk in another folder, unzip, replace the icons in the correct subfolders and repack. Then overwrite with original apk in system/app. Immediatly phone will crash and reboot. Done!

Its a matter of luck that it worked for you. If you replace SystemUi manually via root explorer, your phone will reboot instantly which means you won't be able to set permission and hence you will be in bootloop.

I was one of them luckguys it worked just fine for me.
Edit: looking really good, the only thing i miss is the Note 3 weather widget, to get the full note 3 kitkat look. (i think that is mission impossible to get Note 3 weather widget on stock non-deodexed rom i have been trying for many hours)

Hi Note II owners, this is my first submission to XDA.
This is a corrupted superuser bootscreen i threw together.
I looked everywhere for this kind of boot animation but found nothing, so I spent a while learning After Effects and made it myself.
Meant to be a digital hacker glitchy effect.
Also made a boot sound but couldn't manage to get it working on my current (fantastic) rom. Only zipped sound to upload it.
Enjoy

UPDATE!
Due to requests, a non superuser logo version has been made.
Also, flashables have been made thanks to @claude96
Downloads:
View attachment Hacked_Note_II_Boot_Sound_Flash-able.zip - Flashable zip with sound thanks to @claude96
View attachment 2928954 - Original with Super Pirate Andy. Rename to bootanimation.zip and place in appropriate directory for your rom/phone.
View attachment 2928953 - Samsung logo only version. Rename to bootanimation.zip and place in appropriate directory for your rom/phone.
View attachment bootsound.zip - Zip containing sound, non flashable, not sure where to put or how to get working.
Nice one! Let me flash and see!
Amazing work mate. Like the glitch part. Lots of hard work you put into this and it paid off.
Congrats for such a good contribution :good:

@sonatamartica very nice work, I've attached a flash-able zip with your bootanimation, and I've also included the needed custom bootanimation enabler file in it, so that it works for anyone.
PS : if you want !, just give a link for the sound, and I'll included in the zip.
@cypher-V & @lucaslc7 @takkk7 read my comment to @sonatamartica, and just flash attached zip.

@cypher-V Yes It's working ( tested on dn3-5.5 rom btw, and others ), they both work ( boot_animation & sound ), flash the boot_animation first, reboot and check, then flash the sound zip, hope this helps.
Its not working bro..

Sorry I'm very slack at getting on XDA
Thanks to everyone who made flashables etc, I could never get sound going so I'll need to try one!
Will update main post soon to include others files with thanks to them of course
If anyone wants a different picture instead of super-pirate-andy let me know, I still have all the stuff to re-render.
Thanks again everyone! For my first contribution, this is a wonderful surprise
