Hello,
I'm very new to CyanogenMod and ROM development in general,
so I don't really know what I'm doing here, and would appreciate any help you can give me
If it helps, I run Linux Mint 17 (derived from ubuntu 14.04).
I've been having some trouble porting CM 11 to my device, and the specs are as follows:
It is a Versus Touchpad 7, based on an Allwinner A10 SoC that runs at 1GHz,
the display runs at 800x480, powered my a Mail 400 GPU,
it has 8GB storage (I can use only about 5GB),
1GB RAM,
Currently runs CM 10.2 (Android 4.2.2).
As Android 4.2.2 is getting a bit out of date, I decided I'd try and get 4.4.4 working on it, and seeing as someone got 4.2.2 to work on it I wouldn't have thought it'd be too difficult.
So, I've downloaded CM 11 to ~/android/system as per the instructions given on their website, but I've immediately run into a problem:
if I stick with the Nexus 7's basic configuration (I thought it might work because my 4.2.2 ROM is spoofed as a Nexus 7) I can successfully built a recovery image. After flashing it, the tablet shows the bootloader screen, and then black screens until I reset by holding the power button down.
The next thing I tried was using the devices vendor and codename as given from the stock (4.1.1) ROM's built.prop, but the codename has a hypen in it and isn't recognised (probably because it isn't supported).
I've managed to get hold of some basic info by extracting the stock recovery.img and boot.img, and copying files like /proc/partitions, /proc/cmdline as so on from the tablet, but I can't seem to get hold of kernel or previously built CM source for it, so I'm wondering if anyone can help me here.
Thanks in advance,
Hamish

Hey
I really want to try Ubuntu Touch.
I got the following tablet:
Zenithink C93
1.3ghz dualcore
1gb ram
10.1" 1024x600 screen.
I want to use Ubuntu Phone because my tab has not enough RAM for ubuntu tablet
It has a cm10.1 port, but it is not registered in Cyanogenmod, not even under unofficial ports
The computer i'm working at has;
Intel Core i3 530 2.93 GHZ
4Gb Ddr3
Hd6570 gpu.
Is there any chance i can port?
Can somebody help me with it? I cant do it alone
Thanks, Dominique.

any answers to this"?
I would like to bump this topic with the hopes that somebody will actually answer. I do know that it is possible but it's a matter of unlocking the bootloader so that you can flash with ADB. Would somebody please help us with this? I know for a fact that it's possible with Cortex A9 and the newer Ubuntu Touch builds don't require as much RAM.

i dont think this tablet actually has something like bootloader unlock.
i mean the stock rom is pre-rooted and has aokp settings.
just putting any recovery.img in a zenithink update folder, then holding power and back on boot will make it boot in the custom recovery, or any kernel named recovery.img
it could be possible, we have cm10.1, i can prepare my desktop with ubuntu and give it a try.
but the tab has no official cm10.x, how am i even going to start without the official sources?

I hate you so much im going to kill you to death!
There is an official porting guide at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting and a mailing list for getting help. Unfortunately, there have been lots of changes lately and the porting guide is incomplete/out-of-date. Unless you are experienced developers using source code instead of documentation, I strongly suggest you wait, till the porting guide has been updated.

It doesn't and the recovery.img is a locked bootloader. When I try to use fastboot using linux terminal it is infinitely "waiting for device" I am currently using a 4.3.1 aokp rom and the author has been real evasive with me as to how to unlock the bootloader. I could upload the recovery image here if it would help or I could send it to somebody. What I was told by the rom developer was "the Amlogic kernel does not like mtp" which really had nothing to do with my inquiry.
Let me ask this...would flashing back to a stock rom make it possible to install Ubuntu as dual boot as seen in many current tutorials? I would post a link to one I have attempted to utilize but I can't post links yet.
Hi
Welcome to what im hoping will become a popular project amongst owners of Rockchip devices. Over at rkDroid we are aiming to create the first custom rom for the rk3026.
We really are starting at the bottom with this one as there is so little info available about these devices. The aim will be a 2 stage project :
Stage 1 : Cooked stock rom
Stage 2 : KitKat
We want to get as many people involved as we can. This means addressing ALL levels of skill. This is why there are 2 stages.
Stage 1 :The 'cooked rom' - This will be for beginners to contribute to. It could be themes, app suggestions, tweaks, etc. They all go into a custom rom and no one is better than another. Anyone can get involved, even if they dont have a Rockchip device. Icons, Themes, etc. They ALL count.
Stage 2 :'KitKat' - I have the source for the kernel and Android build for KK on the 3026. This means we can (in theory) build KK for it. Rockchip released a press release a few months ago saying the 3188 & 3026 WILL get KK. So far the 3026 has been lacking in this. rkDroid aims to bridge that gap and get a KK build out there for these devices. Im no pro when it comes to building Android or kernels. Ive done a few but im in no way a 'guru'. Im also not stupid. This stage of the project WILL require people with some knowledge of building Android, etc.
Overall, the aim of rkDroid is to bring Rockchip device users together to share info, solve problems, build roms, etc. Our site aims to be a popular resource for Rockchip tablets (No TV sticks or Mini PCs yet, sorry guys).
We dont only support the rk3026, We also have info/roms/etc for the other Rockchip devices like the rk3066, rk3188, etc. We will be aiming to create roms for these too once we get more support.
The bottom line is that if you own a Rockchip device and want to be involved in creating a custom rom for it then get involved with us. Whatever level you are at you can have an input in this project and we welcome everyone. n00b or bo$$, its all the same to us, There is a place for everyone at rkDroid.
Let us know if your interested in this project and lets see if we can beat Rockchip by getting our own KK build out before them
did this rom can change size storage sytem
in fact on rk3026 MD706B tablet 8GO/1Go
we have
1 Go for system
1Go for internal sotage
and 5.6 for internat SD : nand flash
can we use 1 giga from those 5.6 to add them to internal storage like on samsung 16g tablket hey have 3G for internal storage

I flashed your ROM from rkdroid here with 3.0.36+([email protected]) #69 kernel. Rom is really fast but only problem is that wifi doesn't work. If I try to turn wifi bar on it will automatic slide to off position. It says that "turning wifi on" but nothing happens. I can't flash my stock rom back because my TWRP backup is corrupted (system part is missing).
Can you help me?

Porting Android - Did I thinking that this modifying custom ROM from one device such as CyanogenMod for the Nexus 5 and move it to another completely different device? I have an idea for the Nokia N9 developing ended with android 4.1, I would like to create a ROM, for example, 4.4 (higher than 4.1) for Nokia N9 as KitKat has a lot of optimization and was run even on slower devices. Could someone explain how to do or advise what to do, or give a link to the guide. Linux commands aren't unknown to me. I'm new on xda.
Hi,
CPU of my android device is MT6592 (8xARM Cortex –[email protected] MHz) with instruction set 32-bit ARMv7. Board and product is ht1_107a_iball_mjk. Apart from this, Codename is REL, Internal Memory is 16GB and RAM is 2GB. And I searched many times on https://download.cyanogenmod.org/ for compatible CM 13 but I didn’t find.
If no CM 13 is exists for my device, it’s unacceptable for me. Like system requirements for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, etc, I would like to know the hardware requirements for android 6 and android 7.
Also I noticed, all builds on https://download.cyanogenmod.org/ are for Snapdragon Processors only. Is it right?
Please let me know about the compatible CM 13 from https://download.cyanogenmod.org/.
Regards
GNS
u forgot the most important part xD , what's ur device model ?
Modal Number is iBall Brace-X1. It really more unfortunate for me that there is no release from my device manufacturer related to boot-loader, Custom Recovery, Custom ROM or anything related to this. Also I do not find any helpful developer release for my device. As I do not get helpful tools, release, Custom Recovery and Official Custom ROM for my device, however I am ready to try for unlocking boot-loader, flashing Custom Recovery and Custom ROM multiple times but while doing all these procedures sometimes I get scared of any faults in terms of hardware.
I've recently bought a surface go for school (64gb emmc, 4gb ram model) and I love the pen and the build quality however i found windows to be way to slow on a device like this and decided to try android. android-x86_64-8.1-r2 installed fine and it runs great on this hardware except for a few issues such as camera, auto rotate and the like. I've run into a pre-made kernel that fixes these issues and will link it below. I was wondering if someone could help me with implementing this kernel into android x86 to get the full set of features working. Thanks in advance!
Kernel:
(On github) /jakeday/linux-surface/releases
Could you tell me how you implemented that pre-made kernel into Android x86? I'm trying to do the same thing with Bliss OS 11.10 (Kernel 4.19), but I really don't know how. I could have missed something on the GitHub page, but I don't know how to implement a kernel into Android. To be honest, I never implemented a Linux kernel into an OS.
I hope you read this even though it's already been a few months.
Thank you
