yes, both actually. Ive never flashed any roms or anything though, just stuck with the stock cuz I was scared to mess things up...lol
Unroot, restore stock recovery then relock the bootloader, then try again. It won't allow the update with an unlocked bootloader.

Use the Amaze toolkit, it has everything as a button, do it in this order and you should be fineL
1. restore stock recovery
2. relock the bootloader (oem_relock)
3. retry updating.

Welcome buddy ^_^
Hey Dark, I flashed the stock recovery, relocked the bootloader, ran the update again and now I get a phone pic with a red triangle and exclamation mark...any ideas?
Download one of the GB stock RUU files, rename it and place it on your external sd card and reboot into HBoot, it should automatically detect the file and take your entire phone back to complete stock, there shouldn't be any stops from updating.
Stock RUU thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644
rename the file to PH85IMG.zip when you place in on your sd card.

As I posted in another thread, I have an unlocked bootloader with no other mods done, and I flashed the OTA without a problem.
great, I dont have and SD card...lol
Awe man, what's not stock on your current set up? Maybe we can just restore files. Don't you have a nandroid backup?

well, when I unlocked my bootloader I used the HTC site, then I had Binery help me with root. he came up with a one-click root while we were doing it. After that I haven't done anything else to it besides get rid of the bloat cuz that's the only reason I wanted root.
Everything should be fine then, stock recovery, stock rom, locked bootloader, tried re-downloading the update?

I just did a factory reset, re-downloaded the update, Im about to try the install now. I did notice one thing though when I was using Hasoon, I think it said Failed when I flashed the stock recovery...
Yep, The update failed to install again.
What radio is on the new OTA update? Can someone who has done the update, post?
No clue where recovery files go on the amaze or we could do it via recovery, just retry flashing stock recovery, if not we'll have to wait until someone pulls the file and makes a zip file to flash it, did you try flashing the recovery using the tool while the phone was in fastboot? That's probably a requirement.

[Q]Unrooting/Returning to Stock

Does going back to stock remove custom recovery such as 4ext recovery? And by returning to stock, does it return everything back to stock as if it were a brand new phone?

no returning to stock does not remove 4ext recovery.. and technically yes the phone will be "bran new" although if anyone checks your bootloader status it will say "relocked" since you need to relock the boot loader before you flash back to stock with the RUU... if you would like more info on "how to return to stock" and flash back "stock" recovery.. please provide the following info... : carrier, android os version (whether GB or ICS) and S-On/S-Off.. thank you and i hope that answered your question

I would like more info about flashing "stock" recovery.
Carrier: T-Mobile
Android OS: ICS
S-ON
Oh and flashing both stock ROM and stock recovery is basically a complete stock of a phone, right?
Edit: I just finished flashing the stock ROM (RUBY_ICS_35_S_TMOUS_2.14.531.3_R2_Radio_1.14.550L.17DC_30.78.550L.15_release_262141_signed.zip)
how did you flash the stock rom? from recovery or from the bootloader? and flashing the RUU is considering going back to "stock" flashing stock recovery also is just an extra people do incase they need too

I flashed it through bootloader in fastboot. So basically I'm completely in 'stock/original' just from flashing the RUU?

Please let me know if you find out. I was wondering the same thing!
Let me try to help you guys.
What you guys need to do is to flash the original RUU for 1.27.531.11 from PC. Once you do that, you will be able to update OTA.
If you have unlocked bootloader and s-off, it will still carry over to the back to stock as well as OTA.
If you dont like it, just flash the older hboot and then recovery and another ROM.
I did it and works perfectly fine. Also no Root allow for Back to stock or OTA, you can do that later but not when trying to get update.
No custom recoveries, radio, boot, etc. Has to be stock ROM.
Ah, also please have sure the MID / CID is right before flashing to stock.

Unfortunately that only works on a Microsoft Windows computer. It won't work for Linux or Mac.
Are there any option for Linux/Mac users?

This is what I did. I was on a custom ROM, but -off, flashed 1.27 RUU, set basic settings up, then downloaded 4.3 update, still unlocked and -off. Painless.

The 1.27 RUU is stock ROM, bootloader, and recovery?
After upgrading did you re-flash a custom recovery and re-root?

Not yet. Gonna play with stock for awhile. I kind of like odexed and dont have a burning need to root. As for the "junk" in stock roms, there really isnt much, and what there is you can disable so not a big deal.

OK so just to clarify. I am currently on 1.27.531.11 rooted with a Unlocked S-off bootloader and TWRP recovery. All I need to do is, leave the bootloader unlocked and run the 1.27.531.11 RUU file. Once that is completed I can take the OTA to 4.3. Once this is complete will I still be S-Off and unlocked or S-off Locked? Then if I want to root (asuming bootloader is still unlocked) I would just need to flash the TWRP recovery and then flash SU, and I should then be updated to 4.3 rooted with a unlocked S-OFF bootloader. Is all of that correct? If not, please correct me before I attempt this. Thanks for any help.

Did you restore it to stock? With relocked bootloader, phone will only boot with stock configuration (stock boot.img, recovery, ROM).

I decided to relock it and it started up again. If I have time I will install CWM, flash the stock ROM I found somewhere and relock it. Then flash the boot.img and recovery.img via the windows tool. Would that work? Hopefully. I mean it's not a big deal if it's unlocked, the warranty is gone either way, but still.

Should be fine with stock boot.img. Relocked hboot only will boot kernels signed by HTC, but it should boot custom ROM as well if I'm not mistaken (just scratch what I wrote before, important is the boot.img, not the ROM).

[Q] Stuck on engineering bootloader!

I flashed the NC5 engineering bootloader awhile back and want the stock one back. I tried the nc5 one-click full restore and the bootloader is still the engineering one. It was the one from rwilco. I also dug around and found a one-click nc5 stock bootloader by the same guy and it aborts half way throught the process.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you flashed the stock one-click or tar (@Rwilco12 or tar in my thread, respectively), you'll most certainly be on the stock bootloader, sans root, completely stock.
You absolutely must flash either of these from a completely powered off state, and may need to flash them twice, to get them to stick.
FWIW, here's the stock NC5 bootloader...
