I have a MyPhone A888 and it is version 4.0.4. My question is, can I install a custom rom that is 4.1.2? I was planning on installing this (Yonip A888 4.1.2 V5): http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/142780-rom-yonip-a888-412-v5-28042013/, which I found on this list of A888 roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41729090. So can I install it? Or should I stick to 4.0.4 custom roms? Thanks!

You can install any rom of any version you want but it MUST be for your exact device.

Oh okay. So just to be extra clear, I can install a 4.1.2 Rom on my 4.0.4 phone right?

Yes. The version doesn't matter. You can be sure to install a ROM for YOUR device (if not you can get a hard-brick and this is not good...).
Remember to do FULL WIPE when you change version.
Any other doubts just tell me

Thanks! Gonna start installing now.
So I rooted with towelroot a couple months back, and currently running the latest Trents rom (4.4.2 I believe?). I was curious if anyone else has been able to install lollipop roms? I get a bootloop when installing through safestrap (latest version). I also just get a black screen when attempting to install 4.4.4 roms (I tried the latest DU 4.4.4). Anyone know why this may be happening, is there a fix? If you need more info I'm happy to provide... I'm just not sure what info would be useful.
Since you're on 4.4.2 with Safestrap and your bootloader is locked, you have to stick with Touchwiz ROM'S that are using the 4.4.2 stock kernel.
4.4.4 and Lollipop won't work since they're not using 4.4.2 stock kernel.

Great, I figured this was the answer, but I wanted confirmation. I appreciate it.
Can anyone recommend a 4.4.4 based rom that is safestrap compatible and completely stable for SCH-I545?

you can't downgrade the bootloader...
a try would be after rooting the phone and recovery..you can try to install a custom 5.0.2 Rom but 5.1.1 is much more stable

My gt-p7510 is rather sluggish since flashing a lollipop rom. What is the best/safest way to get back to 4.4?
The same way you flashed lollipop.

Omni 5.1 IS a lollipop based ROM. So you haven't downgraded. You just went full custom instead. How's it running?

Ended with further downgrade to original rom
