[Q] Galaxy S2 will not accept charge - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The phone will charge when the battery is not fully discharged. Once the battery is dead, it will not accept a charge when a charger is plugged in (tried various). This is a fairly new battery, being installed within the past few months. It will accept a charge when I remove the battery and put it back in. A Google search finds some people reporting this issue, but none has a fix. Most say to wait 10 seconds before replacing the battery, but I find I do not have to wait at all. I also noticed that removing the battery very long loses the date and time because Google Play Services complains about it. I wondered if this could mean it is an issue related to the BAT500 mainboard battery getting weak. I am running the CM-11 KitKat ROM.
Thanks.

i would go back to complete stock and see if charging works friend

[Q] A Different Battery Problem!

Anybody had this problem?
I've had my GS2 for nearly 3 months and all has been well. Coming from a Motorola XT720, EVERYTHING is better including the battery life.
Last week I noticed that when connecting the charger, it took a long time for the phone to register that it was connected, ie. it didn't beep, light up and show the charging icon. It was also slow to recognize that the charger had been disconnected. (The charging icon would stay on for some time after.)
I thought a re-boot would help and it threw up the big battery charging icon flashing alternately with the battery over heating icon! Even pulling the battery wouldn't stop the warning message unless it was removed for at least a couple of hours or re-booting via Home, Vol+ and Power.
Whilst all of this was happening, battery life plummeted. I normally get about 1-3% loss of battery per hour in standby but this increased to 5-10% per hour.
The phone has somehow regained its normal response to the charger being connected and disconnected but the poor battery life remains.
Its un-locked, un-rooted and running KF3:KE7:KD1
Any ideas before I do a complete reset?
I would get a new battery to start with, if you UK, 7dayshop.com have an 1800mah for only. £4.49 delivered.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I've just bought an Andida "2000"mAh battery from Mobilefun. It's only had a couple charging cycles but it's behaving exactly the same as the original battery, which confuses things!
It could be that the problem is effecting it our it's just not working at it's full potential yet.

Even the biggest best know battery manufactures cannot make a 2000mah battery to fit the S2 without needing a replacement back cover, the new Samsung 2000mah needs one.
So the Andida "2000"mAh battery , is more likely to be around 1500-1800mah
Yep, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Will probably return it and wait for the
official Samsung 2000 mAh.
Would still like to know what's going on with the sudden loss of battery life.

Since you have tried a second battery and the phone is acting the same way the fault must be with the phone, the charging socket is not loose or something?
Or maybe the phone charger is faulty, do you have a second to try?
It looks like you should try a reset before you seek refund/replacement.

[q] major battery issue

Hey Guys and Gals
This morning my phone was completely drained so i plugged it into the wall plug to charge up. However it did not turn on and begin charging until i did a battery pull.
When it began charging, there was the little yellow triangle (normally there when my device has been drained). A couple of minutes after, the battery began charging BUT it was nearly full
So i switched on the device, went to Applications>Settings>About Phone>Status
There the battery read 96% and charging from AC. When i unplugged it, the numbers began literally jumping backwards and the phone died within two minutes.
I tried charging again and had to do a battery pull again. For good measure, i did a factory reset but the issue was there still, only, when it is plugged in, the battery slowly DECREASES :S maybe like 1% every 2 minutes.
Can someone please help me and let me know if it is a battery issue or a phone hardware issue itself?
Im running Gingerbread btw (downgraded from ICS about 3 weeks now because it sucked....and i missed GB lol)

Easiest way to check is to use another battery in your phone and/or to test your battery in another phone.
So you only need to find someone with a compatible phone/battery.
Or go to a store and ask for help.
Good luck !
Or use a volt meter to test if your battery is dead ie <3.7, the s 2 tends to exaggerate the value more often than shrink the percentage of battery, but your case is a bit extreme, it might have to do from going from ics to gb, don't take my word but apparently its bad to downgrade from ics to gb

[Q] Battery doesn't charge with working cable and port

Hello there people!
Basically this is my first post on here because it's actually the first time that I couldn't find a thread covering the same/similar problem that I'm experiencing...
Here's my issue:
I've got two batteries for my SGS 2, the standard 1650mAh battery and an extended 2000mAh battery (Official Samsung Extended Battery Kit), which I bought about half a year ago, when the stock one started giving me battery life of only few hours.
Yesterday, when my battery died I plugged it into my PC and booted the phone back up immediately without letting it charge even a little bit because I was in a hurry... Since I started using it right away the battery drained faster than it could charge and died within seconds with the screen flickering.
I knew I wasn't really being nice to the battery so I finally let it turned off to charge...
This was when I noticed that it wouldn't charge at all (no charging indicator), though it did seconds before when it was on.
So I tested different USB cables and sockets --> Not charging.
I replaced the battery with the old one that I haven't used in months --> Charging!
These results prove that the charger itself and the USB port of the phone do work and indicate that the issue is with the extended battery.
Now my question is: Can a battery just break so suddenly and if yes, is it fixable and how? I knew a battery can get weaker with age and become useless this way and that the most common reason for a battery to not charge at all are broken components (usb cable or port) but I never knew batteries could suddenly stop working.
Keep in mind the 'broken' battery is relatively new (5 months) in comparison to the old one which was in duty for 2+ years.
Another thought: Maybe it's a problem with the phone, 'not recognizing' the battery after it had its sudden death?
I hope my description was somewhat clear and thank you guys in advance for your help and suggestions!
P.S. Don't know if it's of any help here but I'm running a cm 10.2 nightly (Android 4.3.1)
Of course batteries can die like that after a few mths. Manufacturing process isn't always perfect, some of questionable quality will always get through QC. Fix a battery - You're kidding, right ?
I doubt you can get a replacement, most guarantees on phone batteries are 90 days in my experience, but you can certainly go back to the seller & try.

Battery problem?

Hi all,
I've been having a wierd problem with my gs2 battery recently. It keeps on saying that it's charging however the battery is never increasing, it actually starts to decrease even though it says it is charging. It occasionally likes to turn on and off automatically. Recently, it has only charged when the battery is on 0%, I usually leave my phone charging overnight and when I can get the charger to work, I wake up and it says 100% but really, when I turn it on it says 85% or significantly lower. Sometimes, like now, it decides to work whilst it's on but this is not always the case, that is why I am not sure if it's a port problem. I have tried different chargers and some decide to charge the phone but continously turn on and off (on the off screen, battery charging picture appears and then reloads etc.), others don't work at all. I am not using a stock battery however my stock battery charges okay but is very weak (only last like 2-3hrs even when I'm not using it) and the current one lasts a long time once I nanage to get it to 100%. I have tried different online solutions such as taking the battery out for 10 secs, put phone on charge then put battey back in etc . and it hasn't worked. There have been times where the battery has crashed from 70%+ to 8% whilst it's off which seems wierd. I have attached some battery status images. Has anyone had this issue before? I would really appreciate any help or solutions you know that may work.
Replace battery first, if problem persists replace USB board/port (replacing battery should fix it though) - KeithRoss39 has a guide in General (search for 'Replace USB charger board') which will enable you to do it yourself quickly/easily/cheaply if replacing battery doesn't fix it.

Charging problem

Hey, I have an S2 (fairly old I know, but can't really change my phone right now :/). Since a few months back I started having problems like the phone shutting down at 12-15% battery left, reboots sometimes consumed 10-15% of the battery. So I bought a new battery but the problems continued.
Now leaving those problems aside, since a few weeks ago my phone started to discharge even thought it was connected to the charger, so I when to see a tech guy and he told me the charging port was loose so he fixed that apparently, bought a new charger after that but the problem persisted, the phone charges sometimes and sometimes doesn't and when it charges it takes hours to reach 100%.
Another thing it's that sometimes I left the phone charging at night and when I wake up the phone says it's 100% but when I take off the charger it drops down to 70-60%.
I'm using 5.1.1 so I thought it could be a ROM problem since Lollipop is a battery killer, I decided to change from Paranoid to CM but still the same story.
Now I'm trying to charge the phone while it's off and seems to be working, although very slowly.
I had the same problem with a Xperia X8, I've changed the battery and flash the stock ROM. Try to do this
