Hi all!
Ok here goes. I bought on ebay a Hero G3 running windows mobile. I think this thing is a clone but it seems pretty identical to the htc, although this phone does not say htc anywhere on it. Behind the battery G3 Hero A6288 is listed.

It came with Windows Mobile 6.5. Although it's a clone, is it still possible that it could run android?
Hardware seems pretty much exactly the same. However from what i've seen from looking around I would need Android installed first off in order to update?
Also somehow last night (I was drunk) the phone has somehow set a password in Windows Mobile and I do not know what the password is and so i am stuck big time! Tried following instructions to do a hard reset but these don't seem to work unless i'm doing something wrong? Windows mobile just boots up.
Is there anyway around this? Is there any ROMs of Windows Mobile out there from this thing that I could put on it to get around the password?
Please help, I have been looking all day for a solution to this and it's driving me crazy!

You _might_ be able to load one of the WM "android kits" onto it which are kicked off post boot up, but it is a China counterfeit handset and thus undoubtedly cannot run it natively

Highly doubtful, the processors are most likely totally different

Sorry for bringing back from the dead this thread.
I recently aquired a hero clone, an a6288 with the same specs as the one mentioned in this thread.
The phone after a few days of fooling around cannot boot. It hangs during boot up, right after it plays the windows opening sound. I am trying to hard reset it but I cannot find the correct key combination, can anyone help me with that?
Thanks in advance!

On the real hero, it's menu, call and end call
But the fake is likely completely different.
Also based upon Windows not Android - so it could be anything - have you tried Ctrl + Alt + Del?

That seems to be the problem. The combination is different, I've tried every forum I can find, in russian, chinese, italian and pretty much anything google can give but no key combination seems to work. The company I bought it from seems to be irresponsible on the matter, and every responce I got from them was wrong.
Is there another way I can force the phone to reset? Through a computer via windows or linux?

No idea. Pull the battery for a while? I honestly haven't a clue about these fakes. They are cheap for a reason I'm afraid
Try pressing every key and seeing what happens, try seeing if there is a pin slot as well and push that whilst trying all sorts of combos. Other the that, my only advice is to never buy a fake.
What did you do that broke it?
You must use the button of ignition and the key Volume + and Volume-.
We touch the key of volume and simultaneously you ignite the cel and it was entering Hard Rest.
i have the same china HERO G3 im newbie and i want to know if is possible to switch fro windows to android!thanks a lot

If it's a proper HTC Hero, it runs Android. If it's a fake, it runs WinMo.
So this doesn't sound to be a HTC Hero Which means no android for you afaik.
For those who want to know, after many emails with the company I bought it from, I came to understanding that even they don't know how to hard reset it. The final solution they provided was to return the product to them to fix it (if possible) or to replace it. So either way, I will do that, although I now have no trust on the device (it hanged for no apparent reason) and will probably never use it for anything more than a backup phone.
Final conclusion: Cheap chinese phones? NO-GO!
hello i have same phone with itallian language
i want move it into English ..
any one help how we can change this phone into english ?
Regards
Hi,
Anyone have a english rom for this phone?
home+menu+power on is the hard reset for this phone
volume down + reset button ( up ) and power
bumping a dead thread.
Trying to fix a friends phone, I installed a simple HTC cab and now the phone won't boot up.
It says Hero, but then doesnt start.
The hard reset keys listed so far don''t seem to be working.
Anyone know any other hard reset combos that might work?
Have any of you tried pressing ALL of the keys available?
The counterfit market is ridiculous.People should research before buying...My wife-to-be nearly got me a nexus one (fake) for £50 thinking it was a real N1 they even call them the Nexus one and Hero so surely that's patent copyright breach?I think they even say HTC on them!
All, I've gone through many of the forums here and all I am now is confused. Issue: Had CWM and NVFLASH on and Honeycomb on gtab. Some issues, wanted to go back to stock. Followed instructions; however, now it's in a loop. I cannot get to it via PC. Holding power and volume key, see the 3 birds and "recovery key detected, goes to gtablet screen, goes to screen with a box (arrow in it pointing down) and status bar across bottom, goes to w/tap n tap screen, goes to screen with tnt; then reboots through the process again and again. I've spent the past two weeks going through the internet and reading the various methods to unbrick, none work; because I can't get to the internal SD card.
Is there a way to fix this? Is there a way to use the external micro-SD card? Or do I just need to throw this thing away? Any assistance would be appreciated. Oh, I've tried the Code Red and every other unbricking method I came across.
Thank you in advance, Michael

Since you are only experiencing a cycled boot loop then you are not bricked. There is still hope.
What NVflash file did you use to get back to stock?
Which bootloader do you want to run?

I grabbed the latest one. Basically, I'm almost at the "throw it in the trash" stage. If there is a way to boot from the external SD card to load the stock 1.1 version; that's what I would like to do and give this to my niece. Thank you for replying.
Michael
There is a way to "install clockwork from external SD" - search that phrase and you should find it.
BTW- If you plan on trashing it, I'll pay for shipping to my house. I'll 'throw it away' for you

Well all and all I know your fustration. The first link I beleive you are using is the Stock 1.1 from the 3588 branch. That one I used before and had nothing but issues. The best one to use is from the 4349 branch perfered with CWM pre-installed. After flashing that file shut the Tablet off during boot up. Then boot into recovery mode by holding down the volume + while pressing the power button. Do a Wipe Data Factory reset, Clear Cache, and then under advance Wipe Dalvic Cache then go back to main menu of CWM and reboot device. Make sure you don't select reboot recovery since that will not let you boot into anything but CWM. TNT TabUI will then boot up and you chould be good to go.
Thanks...but
Thanks to everyone. I still can't get this darn thing to connect to the PC or CWM to run. I would love to be able to just put it back to stock and be done with it. The more I work with Android devices, the more I'm convinced that I will stick with Windows or Apple. Android is great, but until there is a one size fits all solution; the tweaking and manipulation one has to do just to increase the functionality is what will be Android's downfall. Nothing is "simple" with Android and unless you're a programmer; there isn't much one can do with it. Partially it is the manufacturer's fault (i.e. Viewsonic) for putting out crap that doesn't even work; part of it is Google for not requiring standards for Android (yeah, no standards are great because one can explore/tweak/etc); and it is my fault (for this instance) for thinking that I could tweak and enhance my system. So, I'll put this thing up on Craigslist and see if I can make some change with it and get a newer device or just stick with a laptop and be done with it. Thanks again everyone for all your help.

Sorry to see that your experience with your newly found failure did not come with a price of knowledge. Truth be sayed I am no programmer, geek or knowledge of script writing either, but what I can pass along to all new-to-android persons is that your best path is to read and follow instructions to the T or you will end up with a expensive paper wait. The web link I posted above is pretty self explained and I give that man credit because I was a newbie too once. Then somewhere in these forums I found that website and was able to recover from just about anything that happened to my poor Gtab. Hell, I even had to drill a hole in the back of the case just because I wanted more and there was ICS from Team DRH. But truth be said that web link is your path and only path to going back to the stock UI and recovery.

I'll buy it. DIBS EVERYONE!
PM me with your info and I'll have the money sent right away.
Even if I couldn't get it to work, I could use it for parts for my current g-tab.
EDIT: Don't mind my post count. I'm very active on SD, just not here.
Just wanted to mention that I have not been PM'd or replied to. Hope this guy got his tab to work.
I received a Nook Tablet 8GB from a friend that has it messed up pretty badly.
I have tried option 1 on the thread below and was able to boot into CWR and install the partition zip, then i used MiniTool Partition wizard to setup microsd as described, then place the update zip onto microsd.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36492731
Once i put back into nook and boot up it goes to call customer service.
I also tried the following method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1663836
I get the green check mark and after reboot i get call customer service.
Again, im not sure what was done to this device before. Just trying to fix it for a friend. Is there anything else i can do?
Should i be using this method?

So im assuming there is no hope since there is no response? I see many threads of bricked NT's so im assuming this sort of this is quite common and thats the reason for the lack of response to this thread.
I have worked with android for 2 years now and never bricked a device. I just find it hard to believe this nook tablet cannot be repaired. But again, i have no idea what was done to it.
"Bricked" is a very loose term: without knowing more what's wrong and/or what was done with a tablet it's hard to suggest how to really fix it. Applying a wrong fix often makes the problem worse rather than better.
But it's not necessarily a total loss: until you can figure how to fix it you might try to run CM10 off an SDcard: see http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/cm10-0-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet/, or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061536.
Not sure how i missed that thread but that worked great!
i was about to throw in the towel and you blessed me with that great info. Thank you so much!
I do have one question. got everything setup but when i start the tablet without usb cable plugged in it won't boot. gives me the call customer service msg. Do i have to have usb plugged in everytime i want to boot up now?
Try holding the "n" button when you power up. Press power and at that very first flicker after a few seconds, press and hold n.

Try what Asa suggested above, if it doesn't work then your friend's NT is like mine and many others' -- they only boot into SD with a cold boot and using a powered USB cable. Some people deem this "USB-tethered boot" behavior a manufacturing defect, but it might very well be by design by B&N to discourage people from venturing outside their content wall-garden with easy-to-use 3rd-party ROMs.
So, I originally had this posted under the Nook Color section, but apparently I was wrong in thinking what I had was a Nook Color (despite the box it was purchased in saying Tablet (color) and google telling me the same thing). Regardless, here is my problem.
I recently received a used Nook from a family member. They had bought a new tablet, and didn't need the Nook any longer. The problem with the Nook, however, is it would no longer turn on or even charge. After opening the back (and thus voiding the warranty), I discovered the wires connected to the power button had come loose. I reattached them, put the Nook back together, plugged in the charger and turned it on. Everything seemed fine, until I tried to erase it.
I've tried several different attempts, from simply tapping 'erase and deregister' to holding the power and home buttons, and pretty much every other way B&N's tech support told me. Each time, I get the same error message telling me to try again or contact customer support.
Likewise, any changes I make to the Nook (wallpaper, deleting some of the previous owner's books, etc) revert back to the way they were before each failed attempt as well as after simply turning the Nook off and back on.
I even tried connecting the Nook to my computer via usb cable to delete the old books, however once I eject and disconnect the nook, all the books that were deleted remain, and the books I attempted to add weren't there.
Finally, a problem with the SD card. If I have any .epub books on it, after a few minutes the Nook blackscreens and remains unresponsive until I hold the power button for 20 seconds, release, then press again to turn it back on.
The model number is BNTV250-A. And I have tried every option I can find through google search to repair this thing myself, and am at an utter loss. Though, most of those attempts were from when I thought this was a Nook Color, so perhaps I've just been trying the wrong methods, but I've attempted the 8 failed reboots, as well as attempting to boot from the SD card. Neither of which worked.
Now, B&N tells me the Nook is pretty much trashed and that I need to upgrade to a new one. I refuse to believe this until I've tried every option I can find. So, if someone can give me any help on trying to get this thing fixed, I'd be greatly appreciated, or if I'd just be better off buying a new tablet altogether.
I will continue to google possible solutions while waiting for someone to come up with something here.
sounds like you'd be better off buying a different unit. the model you stated (BNTV250-A) is indeed a Nook Tablet, probably a 16GB model (i have the same one) but yeah it sounds as though it's pretty much FUBAR at this point. sorry.
I was afraid of that. I mean, it's still good for playing movies and reading pdf files and such. But loading epub files onto the sd card causes it to go all crazy and such.
The thing that gets me is the rooting issue. I just tried rooting again, and absolutely nothing changes. It just keeps going right back to the way it was when my mother gave it to me. I even attempted to use the recovery mod to completely wipe all user data from the NT, with the same result.
I am at a complete loss and am willing to go with your pretty accurate description. This thing is FUBAR.
It's a known issue. Your only option is to boot from sdcard. Here you can find recent images
So heres what i got,an lgv410.i kingrooted, then i started deleting bloatware.eventually i deleted the wrong fat from the tablet and process com started looping.each time i clicked it.then if i set it down and screen went dark.on returning to it ,it would be process com then system ui.
I eventually got a bunch of apps into an sd card by transfering them with an rca 7" i bought at walmart.then i got brilliant idea to tether.well i got the otg cable but it seems i cant get it to work right either.i eventually was able to get what i think is a 55kb twrp installed on tablet via cm lite.i also have a lineage 300+ mb nightly.thing is i cant get nothing to install since i got the twrp on there.i got three options with what i assume is twrp.it says at top of black screen, fastboot, select up down, continue, power key then in red, restart, restart bootloader, and power off.
At bottom of black screen it says a bunch of gibberish.including in red, fast boot mode.
So can some one tell me what to do next.im under the understanding that i can somehow use sd card to make this right.like i said,i got this rca 7 ,a wifi hotspot with about 300mb left of data,an sd card. An otg cable, and most important,a frustrated hard head!
thankyou for your time,: )
Ill also add,i may have panicked months back and tried to delete kingroot.then i reinstalled.the label was still up in notification bar.thing is,the fat was gone, lol!
So im assuming i need new firm ware and that nightly lineage sounded sweet.so i got it.i like my tablets light and fast.i love the rush of of 1 ghz plus!
I also went over to hardware info a few days ago and there was none, lol, yep.yes its a real tablet.its just kinda retarded!
Shes my favorite due to having a magnetometer app.and the size is great too for just carrying around.i really like apps and was getting comfortable using rooted apps, especially the cpu clockers.but my absolute hands down most favorite app ever is ultimate emf app.it saved my life.you can even go to goo playstore where i commented to developer.please help me save my lg?
