Hi everyone! Hope someone can help out on this...
I have installed MiniCM7 Pro V7x (Android v2.3.5, Kernel 2.6.29) on my SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro.
It is rooted and everything works just fine... EXCEPT Wifi tethering. It is impossible to get any tethering app to work.
Barnacle will only go as far as "Starting..." and then nothing happens.
Wireless Tether for root users says "No Netfilter! Sorry, but your kernel does not have all necessary features for running this application."
Opengarden Wifi Tethering says the same thing "No Netfilter! Sorry..."
So my question now is clearly: Is it not possible to use Wifi tethering on this phone with this rom?
And secondly, can I use my phone as a modem if I run it with a USB cable instead, as a backup if Wifi tethering wont work? If so, can you recommend a guide somewhere describing how to do it?
Thank you all in advance! Looking forward for your replies...
I finally got it to work.
I needed iptables. Found a useful guide on this URL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184907
I then use Barnacle without any issues at all! Works flawless and I can connect multiple units (iPad2, Win7 x64 PC, Ubuntu 11.04 x86 PC and Debian ARM PC) at the same time...
Please help!

Hi,
Yes, you can use the adb folder of SuperOneClick directory.
ADB is Android Debug Bridge, a command line tool that lets you communicate with your conected device or emulator, this folder is also found in the SDK, available on Android Developers site.
Hi!
I´m still using CM7 alpha2 since it seems that it onlys uses MTP to copy files and I ´m using a Mac OSX.
The thing is recently I tried to download an app that requires root access, but after installing I cannot use it.
Then I tried to use the isntalled apps that require root access and noe of them work.
I tried to find a thread that coud help me but so far no luck.
Can someboy explain please how to regain root access in my Touchpad?
By the way I have seen threads of other devices where the answer involve something terminal commands started with adb shell.
I use the terminal and bash all the time but I don´t know if I need to download/install some additional software?
Thanks!
sounds like there is something wrong with the superuser app.
Anyway the ICS roms use MTP for file transfer.
i don't think the touchpad needed root access to my mind it's gotta be the SU app or some sort of file/binary related to it

Why can you not connect the Device to the PC ? No USB Cable ? The PC will not recognize ? No PC ? Are you certain the SD Card is mounted so the Device can read it ? Why can you not load your backup ? Are you not able to Boot into Recovery ? All the questions are because I'm trying to get a better idea of what's going on.

Solution (Tanks to "perpe" from android-hilfe.de)
1. Get a Terminal app from the PlayStore
2. Type: SU
3. Type: mount -o rw,remount /system
4. Type: chattr -R -i /system
5. DONE
/system/xxx has no more write protection
EDIT: After a reboot - the /system/ is again protected
thank you very much!

hello,
i would like to buy the device,
can you check if the device does support wifi display (miracast),
e.g if it can mirror its screen wirelessly to the tv (like as it was connected via hdmi cable)
i have an LG smart tv that is miracast certified, so i wonder if it can work with the mediapad x1
i know that on the mediapad there is the multi screen option, but i dont know if it is like wireless display (miracast)
let me know!
thank you!

Best thing that worked for me was I rooted with vroot then installed supersu and busy box after that just used rootexplorer and after rebooting it still retains permissions. No need for terminal.

Hello
Instead of "RootGenius" you can simply use "Kingo Android ROOT" software for rooting 4.2.2 Jellybean ROM And "Vroot" for Kitkat 4.4.2 ROM.
It works on MediaPad X1.
By the way you can unroot it using Kingo android ROOT software.

Hi,
i have this simple configuration.
Philips Andoird TV PUS6501 (Android 5) + External HDD
PC (Windows 10)
What i want is to copy files from my PC to the HDD wich is connected to the TV.
I heard this was possible with Android KitKat but since Android Lollipop the function is gone.
I heard what i want is possible if i get root and set up a Samba Server (wtf never done something like that before)
I heard root is possible but only temporary (with the dirty cow script) but i didnt find any tutorial for my TV nor did i recive any help in the Philips Android TV Thead.
So what can I do to get write access when the HDD is still connected to the TV?

Share the files on your PC and use X-plore or ES file manager to copy the files from one to the other. Another possibility is using something like Cetus Play on the TV side. It can set up a simple web server that will accept uploaded files.
