How to root Leagoo Lead 4 MT6572 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried all methods for Lead 3 described here, but no success:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/leagoo-lead-3-root-t2848117
Tried Kingo root, Vroot, SRSRoot and nothing... with kingo it restart in fastboot, do something (drivers installed ok), but then nothing, uncle tools doesn't give me root option... Also MTK Droid root & tools failed, but it says root possible only with CWM Recovery...
Any help? Anyone with Lead 4 made root?
Thanks in advance.

Mmmm... Lead 3 came with bootloader unlocked, maybe Lead 4 comes with bootloader locked? Should I try to unlock it before rooting? Any suggested tool to do this?

Ok, it was hard, but at least I got root. It could seem tedious, but it is really easier than it appears. Also, this method should be ok not only for Lead 4, but also for any MTK phone.
Shortly, the goal must be to successfully flash file UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip from CWM Recovery manually. The hard thing is to install CWM Recovery in these phones.
In order to install CWM Recovery in our Lead 4 or MTK device, we should extract stock boot.img and recovery.img images from the phone using Leagoo Upgrade Tool, then, patch recovery.img using MTK Droid Tools 2.5.3 (2.5.2 failed for me) creating from stock recovery a new CWM Recovery, and finish with flashing this new CWM Recovery with Leagoo Upgrade Tool.
It seems complicated, but in this article everything is explanated step by step including the tools to be used and its download links, and also a tutorial for extracting boot.img y recovery.img images from our devices in this other article. Just two tips: find MTK Droid Tool 2.5.3 in google for downloading; and download Leagoo Upgrade Tool from the official web in its last version.
Also, consider this (it is not explained): for MTK Droid Tools to ask you if you want to create a CWM Recovery automatically or don't, the process by uploading the boot.img file previously extracted from the device should be done with the phone connected to the PC and recognized by the tool.
Enjoy.

Please help!!!

[Q] MT 6575 Rooting & Unknown rom type installation question

So. I deceided to join this forum in order to ask for some help from all those people I saw while searching the net.
I have to admit I am quite a noob with mobile systems, although I have gone way too far the last 3 days!
Here is the problem: I have an mt6575 processor phone in which want to add Greek Language settings. I have downloaded a folder form the manufacture's site, but it didn't contain any instructions. Just some .bin files (ALICE.BIN VIVA.bin, SANSTAR50_6464_11B_BOOTLOADER_V005_MT6250_MAUI_11B_W11_32_SP_V1.bin and ZIMAGE_ER.bin)and a scatter file that can not be read by flash tool (scatSANSTAR50_6464_11B.txt).
After a lot of reading around here and a lot of other forums and sites I realised that in order to do anything, I had to root my phone. I wasn't able to do it through superclick or mtk droid tools so I followed the instructions I found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490&styleid=18
However, I am stuck on the final step.. I can't seem to get my phone on cwm mode... In fact I am not sure I know what exactly this is. I manage to open my phone on the android recovery utility but I am not able to make any choice. Everytime I press some of the menu's choises an android robot with an exclamation mark fills the screen and nothing happens...
Anyway..even if I manage to finalize the rooting process.. I still don't know what to do with the files I have... should I use them somehow on flash tool?
By the way.. The files come with a tool called Multiport Download Flash Tool which looks like Sp flash tool but has too many port options.
I'd be glad if someone helped me with this!
Thank you in advance,
Irene
1. Dump your stock recovery image then make a cwm or twrp (preferably twrp) from yueweng's thread for mediatek devices via old cwm or twrp port tool
2. Flash it via sp flash tool (download MTK 6575 scatter from internet)
3. Then reboot into recovery and if in twrp then reboot and it will ask you to root it or not
Or
If in cwm then download supersu Flash zip file and flash it
You have root access now

The last week I had a similar issue stuck on KARBONN logo.
I used Stock from XDA Firmware xdafirmware.com/karbonn-mach-five
Download the necessary drivers (a must) .
The downloaded compressed file will have SP flash tool with it .
1 .Open "flash_tool.exe" under "\SP Flash Tool v5.1516" folder (with admin privileges) .
2 .Navigate to the "Download" section .
3. Click on the "Scatter-loading". Browse "MT6582_Android_scatter.txt" under "Firmware" .
4. Now this will give you a list of files to flash that comes from the "\Firmware" folder . Make sure every files load correctly to the list(location can be seen to the right of the item to be flashed) . Especially "Android" which correspond to the system.img file in the \Firmware which I think which actually solves the android system related files' problems.
5. Now Power off your phone .
'''Wait for a sec ( many people advice removing the battery for a while).
6. Now click on the Download sign in the SP flash tool window . Connect your phone with the USB cable immediately and click on the volume up or down for SP flash tool to detect your phone. If the phone gets detected SP flash tool throws some info on the left pane. Then the files will start flashing . Flashing status is provided by a yellow bar at the bottom of the window.
7. After the flash is complete a green ok popup.
8. Boot your phone to recovery and Wipe the cache partition.
9. Restart the phone.
This worked with my MACHFIVE . Wishing you luck :good:.
*Flashing always have a risk of bricking your phone. Think twice before you act . I will not take responsibility.
*Always take any errors in SP flash tool seriously and consult expert advice before continuing
*Even if you are stuck on boot if you have enabled USB debugging you can use adb pull to pull your data from memory.

[Q] Root/CWM/TWRP - Wiko Lenny 2 (5.1.1, MT6580M)

Since there is no way to root this phone using known root apps or MTK Droid Tools (which won't even make proper scatter file) is there at least some CWM / TWRP available? MTK DT says there is a way to root this phone from CWM but I have no idea where to look for it. I found something for Doogee x5 which has MT6580 (without M) but I'm afraid of doing it, I'm not sure how much different MT6580 and MT6580M are

Root it with the KingRoot app. Don't forget that you must turn USB Debugging on BEFORE you attempt to root it. Once it is rooted, leave USB Debugging on. Also, you should then install Busy Box X from the Play Store. Run Busy Box X and elect to install the busybox.
Then install Flashify from the Play Store. Flashify will not work properly unless you completed the installation of busybox in the system. With Flashify, you can back up the stock boot image (also referred to as the kernel image) and the stock recovery image. Save a copy of the back up files on your computer for safekeeping.
Then go back to MTK Droid Tools (make sure USB Debugginh is still on). Now select the Root, Backup, Recovery tab. Then click on the big button that says "Recovery and Boot." This will make the custom recovery for you. During the process, you will be asked to select the boot image file. Just point to the backup you made of the BOOT image from Flashify.
When the MTK Droid is done its thing, you will now have a CWM recovery for your phone. You will find it in the subfolder called "recovery" under the MTK Droid Tools folder. You will also find a "boot patched" image. You can now flash the new CWM recovery image and the new boot image to your phone by copying those files to your SD card and using Flashify to flash the images. Be careful! Do not make a silly error such as flashing the recovery image to the boot partition or you will soft-brick your phone. Flash recovery image to recovery and boot image to boot.
Don't forget to thank me by clicking the Thanks button if I have helped you. And feel free to follow up with any questions.
I'd like this to be so easy but any root app either PC or android version is failing to root this phone. Only SRSROOT is showing that phone is rooted successful but of course it's not true. I checked with Root checker and it says that root it's not properly installed and SU won't install since there is no root at all.
Also MTK Droid Tools won't detect my chipset in 100%. Won't let me root it there or show those tabs you mentioned. Someone somewhere said that MT6580 isn't fully supported yet and I guess it's true. I can modify config files so program will detect my phone that's why I could use option to make scatter file (which wasn't right one anyway).
Guess I will have to wait little longer to finally get root and recovery for this phone. But it's kinda strange that there is no way to actually root MT6580M but DOOGEE x5 with MT6580 has cwm and root already. I was thinking of using this DOOGEE things to root my phone but at the end I passed. Not worth bricking my only phone.

Use the KINGROOT app. Read what is written CAREFULLY. It is not the kingOroot app. These are two completely different root apps. KingRoot will root you Wiko Lenny 2. KingoRoot will NOT. So, no, you don't have to keep dreaming. Just do it!

Sorry to hear that. In that case, you may have to do it the hard way.
Use MTK Droid to extract the scatter.txt file (assuming it can get a clear, meaningful scatter). Then use SP Flash Tool to read back a full ROM dump of the phone. Process the ROM dump with MTK Droid. During that process you can create the CWM for the phone. If you have the CWM recovery image, then flash it back to the phone using SPF. Finally, boot into recovery and flash the SuperSu v2.46 zip from your SD card and it should be fully rooted.
This whole process will take the major part of 2 hours. The key is getting the scatter.txt and CWM for the phone. If you are able to do it, post those two files so others can benefit.
Of course, all of this depends on whether the MTK 6580 chipset is compatible with MTK Droid and with SP Flash.
Anyone wanna volunteer check whether the phone works with MTK Droid and SP Flash...then giving the process a go if the compatibility checks out? There's always the risk of bricking the phone at the point you flash the custom recovery or when you install SuperSu from the zip. But you can easily revive it with the firmware backup you make with SP Flash.

Well here it is folks...Hanuma has posted the TWRP for the phone! So no need to root the phone the hard way as indicated in my last post. Also, perhaps SP Flash is compatible with the phone (there is firmware and a flash tool provided in a link by Hanuma...not sure if that's SP Flash or some other flash tool). @hanuma...can you provide some clarity here?
So the EASY way to get root is to flash the TWRP recovery to the phone (you'll need the scatter.txt file to use with SP Flash...or use the flash tool cited by Hanuma). Once you flash this custom recovery, download the SuperSu v2.46 to your SD card, and install it from the SD. You should be fully and properly rooted after that.
Remember to first make a BACKUP of your ROM with the flash tool before anything else. This way, you can recover if you make a mistake.
Could someone please post the scatter.txt for the Lenny 2? And confirm whether the flash tool in that link is SP Flash. Good luck.

Not good! Why is nothing as easy as it should be? That's one reason I hate touch recoveries.
Well since you have all the stock firmware files for the phone, it should now be a trivial task to create your own CWM recovery. Just fire up MTK Droid Tools and connect your phone to the computer via USB cable (make sure USB Debugging is on).
When MTK sees your phone, simply click on the Root, Backup, Recovery tab and the big button (called Recovery and Boot) and MTK Droid will make the CWM recovery image for you. Make sure the little radio button marked "To choose the boot.img file" is checked. During the process, it will ask you to select the boot.img from that firmware folder. It needs that kernel to create the perfect custom recovery for your phone.
Then flash only the new CWM recovery to the phone using the SP Flash Tool, just as you did with the TWRP recovery. Once you've got CWM on there, you can flash the SuperSu zip (this CWM recovery uses only the buttons).
Please post the CWM recovery image, the stock recovery and the scatter.txt file after you've confirmed that it works. That way others on the thread can flash the CWM and root their phones without having to download the huge set of firmware files.

[Q] CWM for iNew V1 (mtk 6582)

Hi guys
I'm trying to port CWM recovery to my phone since it doesn't have one.
So I read some tutorials, "MTK Droid Tools", all that we already know...
I made the CWM, ok, but when I'll "test" the CWM using [fastboot boot recovery.img] the screen freezes in "transferring" and ADB in "booting..."
However when I try to boot the stock recovery the same thing happens.
So guys, maybe the only way is flash it (mobile uncle...) and see what will result?
Please, help me hehe
I want to enable OTG support by the kernel, believing that all MTK phones shares the same PMIC. What do you think about? :good:
I got USB otg but didn't get CWM... Õ.ô
let mtk droid tools do the job for you (it worked for me) , use your boot.img from your device, the softare will create it and flash it then in a single hit

Hey hey hey man
Do you have an iNew V1?
Look, I've tried a loot of tools to port, believe me, but NOTHING works.
I used MTK Droid Tools to create the CWM and Mobile Uncle Tools to flash it, but did it work? Didn't, of course. Because this I'm here... hahaha
So man tell me your magic.
Many people said "do not flash using mtk droid tools, use mobile uncle, it's better".
Anyway... help me?
i have an mt6582 device and i did everything by using mtk droid tools
just make a full backup then let it create the recovery by using your own boot.img an the end of the procedure let it flash the just created recovery and reboot your phone, that's it

mt6582... Ok.
What is the Android version of your phone?
My phone runs KK and as I had read in chinaphonearena is necessary update some file/files (by rua1) in path "files" inside MTK Droid Tools folder.
Well, I noticed that recovery.img and boot.img are inside mmcblk0.
Mobile Uncle apparently doesn't consider scatter file to flash the recovery. Perhaps it use "dd if=* of=*" method to flash, which can result in brick.
Now I want to enable self powered otg support on this device. Maybe changing more deeper the software I can get this.
mine is a tablet and it runs JB, i wouldn't advice you to use mobileuncle to flash anything as it is not meant to do that even if it can.
use mtkdroid tools or sp flashtool

Custom Recovery from other device with the same CPU.

Hi everyone.
I have a smartphon, Huawei Y3II (LUA-L01), cpu: mediatek mt6735 and i want to root it. I tried everything, king root, kingo root and other pc and android tools. Nothing worked.
In internet there are no tutorials about this phone, so i was wondering if i can flash a custom recovery from similar devices with the same cpu without brick it.
Is that possible?
Thanks.

Thanks, it's asking me root prvileges.
I can't root this devices thats the problem. I tried everything. The only solution possibile in my opinion is to flash a custom recovery via fastboot, but i can't find the right recovery for this device.
This tool, ask me for the stock recovery.img file, i find it but for Huawei Y3ii (LUA-U22) and not for Huawei Y3ii (LUA-L01). I'm not totaly sure that this will work.
This 2 model are similar, had the same cpu, design etc. So that is the reason i asked this question.

The problem is that there's no guarantee that it will work, and it's a big risk of bricking your phone...
