WiFi Tether Router - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

using the latest version of the app, copied everything from the default (non-editable) APN to a new one just so I can change the APN to IPv4. made sure this new APN was selected and then... no connection to the Internet as the 4G LTE icon disappears. If I change the APN to IPv4/IPv6 then the 4G LTE icon appears again. Regardless when I connect my laptop to the app's SSID, Windows tells me there's no Internet connectivity. Any suggestions on what I might be missing?

You should be able to keep it on the default setting there.

AT&T Settings for WM6.1

I called AT&T today cause i got the WM6.1 Standard ROM and my internet wouldnt work, and they gave me the GPRS and Proxy settings if anyone is interested in getting the settings.
Erm... Were you going to share them?
Go to Start->Settings->Connections->GPRS
if there isnt a setting for A&T already, click new. (name it what you want)
Connects To: The Internet
Access Point: wap.cingular
Leave the rest blank
Click Done, then go to Proxy Settings
Again, if there isnt any settings for AT&T, click new. (name it what you want)
Connects From: The Internet
Connects To: WAP Network
Proxy (name: port): wireless.cingular.com:80
Type: HTTP
Leave the rest blank.
Should work like a charm.
Also, under Internet Explorer, make sure you have 'automatically detect settings' checked under the connection settings in the browser.
Hmmm, I only put the GPRS settings in and it worked, but I constantly loose my connection, I wonder if I need to put in the proxy settings. Guess I try it and see. Gets real irritating when the connection drops all of the time.
Thanks for the info
I entered both sets of settings, and it works flawlessly. Thanks!

wifi and apn

is there any relation between the wifi settings and apn settings in the mobile settings?
Whenever i setup my mobile network apn, and turn on my wifi (mobile network is off) i'm not able to connect to the web?
but when i delete the apn settings and reset apn settings, and reboot the hero, wifi works fine.
apn settings i use:
####################
name stc
apn jawalnet.com.sa
10.1.1.1 proxy
port 8080
user name
password
server
mmsc mms.net.sa
mms proxy 10.1.1.1:8080
mms port 8080
##########################
is there a way to disable the apn when i connect to the wifi?
It's the proxy that messes up WiFi afaik.
Yes you can. Long press home screen and look for HTC WIDGET UNDER SETTINGS AND SELECT MOBILE.....
PS- I think this question should have been asked in Q and A.

AT&T APN proxy?

Coming from Sprint, the Epic 4G had a proxy configuration in the stock setting that I assumed monitored and filtered traffic from the wireless radio. I have had no side effects with my previous phone after deleting the proxy address.
My question is:
Will deleting AT&T's "wireless.cingular.com" proxy setting alter the performance of my phone?
Proxy is for the benefits of carrier, not consumer. Yes, you can delete it without issues. But out of box, the phone is configured to use 'phone' apn without a proxy. There is also a wap apn with proxy but that is only used for mms and GPS supl data. Neither are editable.

[Q] HELP! T-Mobile SIM can use LTE but not tether, WHY?

Hi, I have a problem with using my phone to tether. I use a Galaxy S4 Verizon Unlocked and use the T-Mobile nano sim unlimited 4G LTE data.
This is my mobile info :
+ Model number : sch i545
+ android verson 4.3
+ baseband : i545VRUEMK2
+ built number : JSS15J.I545VRUMK2
+ rooted: yes
I can call, text, use the internet, but I can't tether! I have fast.t-mobile.com as the apn, and have tried epc.t-mobile.com as the apn also.
Here is where I get confused: When I set it on GSM, I can tether, but I only get up to 3G/H+ speeds, which max around .5mbps for me (I live in Portland). When I set it on LTE/CDMA, or Global, I get 4G LTE speeds, which gets up to 3-5mbps, but I'm not able to tether. I have tried numerous tethering apps, I really don't think it's the app; I've tried tethering to different computers also, and the phone itself seems to be the problem. When I factory reset, tethering on "Global" and "LTE/CDMA" works, but in the course of downloading apps and setting up LTE and my phone in general, tethering stops working. I was messing around with the settings yesterday, and DID get tethering to work both on "Global" and "LTE/CDMA", but then it stopped working again today. The error message when I can't tether is "cannot connect to DNS server".
I've searched forums all day, and have not found an answer.. Please help! Someone suggested finding a app. to change the network settings to GSM/LTE, but I couldn't find how to do that.
I also have an I545 on T-Mobile, 1gb/mo @ lte speed. Tethering works fine for me but can't afford the data it gobbles.
To set the preferred network, go to google play and download Advanced Signal Status. Run it. Look at the info then scroll to the bottom and click Additional Info, then Device Information. Look at all that other info then scroll down to Set preferred network type. LTE/GSM auto (PRL) works for me.
It might be that I'm rooted and the rom I'm using too.
Yesss it works
THANK YOU!! I downloaded the Advanced Signal Status app, then set it to LTE/GSM auto (PRL), setup a new APN "epc.t-mobile.com", set that as the active apn, then made it inactive and selected "fast.t-mobile.com" to be the active apn again, and VOILA! it works!

[Q] Disable IPv6 on LTE?

I didn't even notice this till the other day but the M9 has IP6 enabled by default. Just an idea but they could be related to some of the data problems this phone has had such as some apps not working, etc. Sprint appears to have fixed most of it on the back end however I would still like to disable IP6 anyway. I did give the app Disable IPv6 [root] a try however this just disabled IP6 for the wi-fi connection and not LTE.
I noticed in the PDN internet settings, the IP Version is set to IPv4v6 by default. When I change it to IPv4 only, the phone will no longer connect to LTE at all. It also appears to clear the APN settings out so even if you change it back to the default, I was unable to reconnect to LTE until I did a profile update.
The phone gets a 10/10 score on http://test-ipv6.com/ but again I think this might be causing some of the issues and would just like to disable IP6 all together. You can also verify your IPv6 addy in the 4G settings menu it will show your IPv6 addy. Any ideas how to force this back to ipV4 and still connect to LTE?

You are under the assumption your provider is even handing out IPv4 on LTE........ Sprint may not be.

It looks like that may be the case unless I need to change another setting. LTE won't get a connection if set to ipv4 like I said. Although my M8 would pick up an ip4 address on LTE so this could be a more recent change. If I set the phone to CDMA it will draw a ip4 address but this phone can't hold a 3G connection and just bounces to 1X all the time.
