[Q] Question on VOLTE / Advanced Calling - Verizon LG G3

Hello,
I just got the update. So I know someone with an iPhone 6 on Verizon. They say they have it enabled and I went to settings to enable it on mine.
1. How do I know if I'm making a VOLTE call?
2. Will the two phones automatically know that they can connect VoLTE?

OK - nothing additional required other than activation. I called someone on an iPhone 6 and it says HD when I call.

With that said, how do you go about placing a video call. Can't find the option anywhere in contacts or dialer?

When you dial the number it has an overlay to set up the video call. The person would also have to have VOLTE for it to work through the dial function.

[Q] Adjust length of ringtone?

When I receive an incoming call, my ringtone only last approximately 5-10 seconds. Can I adjust this?

Does the phone stop ringing because the call ends (i.e. goes to voicemail) or because the ringtone just stops playing? If you can't answer the call after 5-10 seconds then you need to adjust that based on your carrier's settings for your voicemail redirect.
I am unable to find the carrier's settings for voicemail redirect. I looked under settings--->call.

If it is redirecting to voicemail too soon there are no settings on your phone that can change that. Either search for settings on your carrier's website (presumably Verizon) or contact their support to ask if you can have them change the time before calls are redirected to voicemail. Your carrier is the one who determines how long a call should be allowed to persist before it is redirected to your voicemail, so there's nothing (to my knowledge) that your phone can do to change that.
I believe making his own ringtone at a length of approximately 45 seconds should make voicemail wait until its done playing. Always plays the full ringtone on my phone before switching over...

I am using a song as my ringtone. It's .mp3. So suggestions...
To change your ring delay on Verizon, you'll need to call customer service on your phone (by dialing *611) and asking them to help you out.

It's not a setting in your phone; you actually have to call your service provider (Verizon) and ask them to change it for you.

While this is true, in some areas where the reception is bad some times it rings less long on your end as on the other caller's. In order to test that you can call your cell phone with a land line and see how long it takes for your cell phone to start ringing. If this is the case, you can try dialing *228 to try to re-calibrate your phone to to the local cell towers.

Forward all calls (unconditional)
Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) immediately forwards all calls to another phone number without allowing the device to ring.
To forward all calls, follow these steps:
From the Home screen, swipe up to locate and tap Settings.
Tap Call.
Under Call forwarding, tap Mobile to Gear.
Tap Forward calls to.
Enter the number you wish to forward to and tap OK.
Tap Yes.
Forward some calls (conditional)
Call Forwarding Conditional (CFC) forwards incoming calls to another phone number if you do not or cannot answer them (no reply, busy, unavailable).
To turn on conditional call forwarding which forwards some calls, follow these steps:
We're sorry, but this feature is not available on this device.
**As per T-mobile User Manual

I just posted on AC about this also. I think it because I have google voice set up. I just set up google voice on the phone also so now I thinks its all working now. I was able to test call forwarding and was able to get it to work after setting up google voice.

[Q] Use Google Voice as Voicemail (AT&T)

For other phones, I was able to use Google Voice by following the instruction at GV settings:
**004*1xxxxxxxxxx#
But it seems voice mail still goes to AT&T default voice mail.
I also tried *#61#, and it says calls will be forwarded to my GV number. Still same result
In the phone settings, I changed Voicemail setting to GV number, still same results
I'm wondering if this could be an issue with Huawei software. Do you have same issue?

It seems the settings are correct:
* Settings->Call->Call Forwarding: shows my GV# when call cannot get through
* Settings->Call->Voicemail: shows GV Voicemail as the option (clicks that also shows my GV#)
But when call from another phone, the AT&T voicemail will still kick in. Not sure if this is an AT&T issue.

I think it forwards it at a phone level. So must be something with the settings. Perhaps time to backup and reformat?
I just tried on another phone, it seems same thing happens. So looks it's an issue with AT&T. I'll see if they can help to solve the issue. Thanks for the help.

Google Voice

Anyone successful at activating Google Voice to manage your voicemails on the S8+? I'm coming from a Nexus device where it worked flawelessly. I guess Sprint has disabled the ability to use GV because they want you to use their voicemail app.
I have tried the steps on this page but voicemails still go to the stock app.

Might be able to get it working once we have root and can freeze the voicemail app. I wasn't able to answer phone calls with call forwarding to gv tho, so that will might be an issue.

I used this, and Google Voice is working for me. *73 is the key. *28 no longer works for it like GV mistakenly still states in the setup.
I came from Verizon Note 5 and switched to the Sprint S8+, and could not figure it out until I found the above.
Do you have the google voice app installed? I've tried this every which way I can find and it still reverts to Sprint voicemail.
I don't remember where i copied this from awhile ago but, it has always worked for me as long as google voice is installed and set up.
To activate Missed Call Forwarding:
Enter *73
Enter the 10-digit phone number to forward the calls to (google voice number here)
example =
*73XXXXXXXXXX
Press Talk
Listen for the alert tones that tell you Call Forwarding is activated
To deactivate No Answer Call Forwarding:
Enter *730
Press Talk
Listen for the alert tones that tell you Call Forwarding is deactivated
Busy - forwards calls to an alternate number when your line is busy
To activate Busy Call Forwarding:
Enter *74
Enter the 10-digit phone number to forward the calls to (google voice number here)
example =
*74XXXXXXXXXX
Press Talk
Listen for the alert tones that tell you Call Forwarding is activated
To deactivate Busy Call Forwarding:
Enter *740
Press Talk
Listen for the alert tones that tell you Call Forwarding is deactivated

That's strange, I'm on Sprint and the *28xxxxxxxxxx, worked for me perfectly. I may try busy *74 number, but as for me all my voicemails are being forwarded to Google Voice and the Google Voice app is notifying me accordingly.

Do you have any issues using Lightflow, I had terrible experience with s6 edge +. Bought the pro but haven't tried it yet since the 6.

Had to call Sprint and have them remove WiFi calling from my account in order to get GV integration working (where when I make an outgoing call from my phone, my GV voice number is shown instead of my cell number). Now, trying to make a WiFi call, I get this message:
https://goo.gl/photos/ZUHzjq6uWbSrQy4k6
I'm afraid to move forward from this screen because GV integration is important for me... but so is WiFi calling. I was able to do both on my Note 4, which is what I was using before getting the S8+. Wonder why it can't do both now?
I can't see the pic. What does the message say?
I am only using GV for voicemail. I'm not planning on going fully integrated so I have no input on that.
I had to disable Wi-Fi calling to finally get GV voicemail to work.
I believe Sprint do not support both service, GV and Wifi-Calling, you either use one or the other, the only phone so far that i know for sprint able to use both was the Galaxy Note 4 because the Dual antenna for voLTE. "Please dont quote me on this"
Google voice works on s8+
it worked for me only after I called sprint. they did something on their end. that's all I know. sorry not more informative
