[Q] flash any rom without activating the phone - Motorola Droid X2

I just found my Droid X2 at the back of a drawer and want to see if I can give it a second life. The phone was factory reset and I can't go through the activation process. Verizon always says the programming unsuccessful. I'm just wondering if there is anyway I can use the phone either bypassing the activation or flash a different rom (which is preferred) and be over with Verizon.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much. It worked. Now it's time to find a good rom for that old buddy. Maybe CM?

cm7 and eclipse 2.3 are pretty stable, but only android 2.3/ gingerbread
there is a cm10 (Jellybean) but not as stable
nothing has been updated in a couple of years.
because of the locked bootloader:
if you are installing cm7, cm10 DX2 should be on stock 2.3.4 system version 1.3.380
for eclipse 2.3 should be on stock 2.3.5/1.3.418

Very cool! Downloading now. Now if I'm not mistaken, I should be able to try most anything possible (bootstrapping, overclocking, etc.) and if anything goes wrong (short of permanent hardware damage) I will be able to recover back to square one with this SBF right?
you are amazing where did you get it? this is huge I can't wait to test.

Hoping CM and other devs are starting to get cracking on some roms I've been itching to flash something since I bought this..
Sweet!!!!!

What's the difference between an sbf and a ruu?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
Nothing other than the RUU is an executable where the sbf is a file you flash through RSD lite. On that note anyone have a RSD lite that supports our phone I keep getting a chipset un supported with the RSD lite I am using which is 4.6.
"I have now tried 4.8,4.9, and 5.0 they are all giving me couldn't get initialization values of .INI file any help on this would be great."
Oh hell yes!

Did you use RSD? If you did, what option in fast boot did you use? BP bypass RSD or just plain RSD?
plane rsd and RSD lite needs to be version 5.3.1 I will post a link shortly with that version. It says it is 5.0 on the download page but it is 5.3.1

First you need to root, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818758
and if you are on 2.3.5 the only rom available is Eclipse, but its a good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198857
I'd recommend sbf-ing back to 2.3.4 using RSD Lite. The X2 2.3.5 update, as far as I know, is not able to be rooted unless you root it while it's on 2.3.4 and then protect root before you apply the update. I'd go with the CM7 ROM which requires 2.3.4; been using it for 2 months with no issues.
2.3.5 is rootable, I know because I helped make it work, for the X2

Need to go back to stock Verizon RAZR

Friend of mine has a Verizon Droid RAZR.
Friend of his put Cm8 on it. He wants to go back to stock.
I looked at the stock images and they are like 1.1Gb... That doesn't seem right...
I found them on this thread. I also don't know how to flash the rom. Would I use ODIN?

No you should not use odin, that is for Samsung. Download the droid razr utility to fastboot to stock. Cm8 does not exist, but the stock image is around that file size. You can also use rsd lite to manually flash the image yourself.

That's a hard one. From my knowledge it can be done but it's hard and will probably have issues. For some reason Motorola doesn't make it easy to downgrade. Why do you want to downgrade anyways?

I tried using the Droid Razr Utility to unbrick my phone (using option 1) and it would not work. Every time I tried the option it would just run completely, then reboot to the android system recovery menu with the big android in the background. Any ideas?

(ROOT) Bell / Motorola Razr v (T866)

Recently Purchased the Bell Motorola Razr V.
Managed to Root it using this package:- (Below Download)
I am Not Responsible For your Device, Your Choosing To Do This!!!!
Instructions
1. Make sure in settings you allow (check) Non Market Apps
2. Make sure you turn on USB debugging. (developer Options)
3. Make sure you install the Motorola Drivers (32bit, 64bit)
4. Extract the Package into a folder on your Desktop.
5. Plug in your Phone
6. First double-Click Adb.exe
7. Then double click DroidRazrRoot404.bat
8. Sit back let it do its thing!!
Should notice it rebooting a couple of times.
After the Final boot you should notice the SuperUser App!!!
awesome thanks!
Now any idea how to install recovery?
I recently bought a bell razr v but mine lists its model as xt885 (system version is 673.135.80.xt885.bellmobility.end.ca).
Just wondering if there the same or similar enough to risk this root. I know the other model are xt889 and mt887 but can't find info on t866. Could you possible post some? Thanks.
Went high side maverick and tried it out and yay it worked. Thanks very much.

Thank you very much for this! Rooted Motorola RAZR V XT886 (Wind Mobile, Ontario) without a hitch! Less than 5 minutes spent!
Phone is crap tho, won't let me install anything to SD still If anyone might point me to an app that will actually fix this problem, I'd be grateful! It seems there is little mod support for this phone, letalone workarounds to any of it's quirks... It seems like this is one of those phones that tries to be a tablet, without the functionality...

bloatware is preinstalled apps, that are unnecessary and can cause the device to run slow.
I don't have a link for the xt912 at the moment, but the xt894/droid 4 is basically the same.

I believe its a Jelly Bean thing. My RAZR's (XT912) and also my RAZR HD (XT926 still on Jelly Bean) will occasionally bog down for no reason, usually when opening Maps for navigation purposes. I strongly recommend using safestrap and upgrading your RAZR by using one of the fantastic Kit Kat ROM's available.
I cant recommend the Lollipop ROM's because I have not tried one yet but have read many good things about them

If you do use safestrap to install a ROM, make sure you get the safestrap version specific to your phone (spyder for CDMA XT912 and umts spyder for GSM XT910)

If I remember correctly, I had a problem with either 3.75 or 3.72 in regards to wifi tethering/hotspot. In other words, it would not allow me to tether/hotspot another device (PS Vita) to my Droid RAZR. For that reason, I started using 3.65 again.
I cant remember, but I'm pretty sure that I was not the only one with this issue

I am using both Mokee ROM 4.4.4 and Liquid Smooth 4.4.4. These are the finest ROM's for the Droid RAZR that I have used. I am not saying they are the best, I just prefer them to the others I have used

I bought my XT910 on Nov 2011 and for the past 1.5 years I've been using it only for HDMI (to watch old movies which I've downloaded in the past). I had a defective earpiece, I received the spare and came here looking for any tutorial (then went to youtube).. Saw this list, so decided to debloat it... App Quarantine app does the freezing for free (you need to enable advanced in settings)
never felt any significant lag, may be because I gave it less work... Rooted and running European Retail 4.1.2 on Asia retail XT910..
