Hi, despite the availability of the International 4g version of the X1 [7d-501L] in italy, that has all the LTE bands that I need, I bought the chinese 4g variant [7D-503L] in order to receive more and quicker updates.
Now, AFAIK the two versions are indentical in hardware, could a developer extract a modem from the international version and make it a flashable zip that we can put on our chinese 4g variants?
This way we could have the chinese 4g version with all the latest ROMs, but still enjoy FDD-LTE in Europe and rest of the world.
Sorry but it is not correct. The international version has a modem with only fdd frequencies, while the chinese version has fdd AND tdd. So, different modem.
You can search this area and you will find at least two others who have tried to do this, unsuccessfully!
I meant that the chinese version has a ton of TDD bands and only 2 FDD bands. Yes the modem is different, but I believe the difference is in software, not in actual hardware.
Hello you can flash 501l firmware on 503l device without any issue, for me. But I think hardware are not the same, 800mhz fdd LTE band is not present on 503l.

I don't need that. I bought 503L to have all the latest rom, it wouldn't make sense to flash an older firmware. Yes 800 mhz is not present on 503L but I *strongly* suspect that it is disabled by software.
I really think that 501L and 503L are the same, the only thing being that Huawei enables certain bands on one, and other bands on the other one.
Yes I understand and it would be great. But when I flash 501l, I should have 501l modem? Maybe it is a hardware switch?

I agree with you that hardware wise, all the different variations of the X1 are identical. Difference is software/firmware based. The difference is located in a partition that is usually not flashed by a ROM update. I successfully did this with my AT&T Samsung Note 2 and unlocked TMo AWS bands with the help of XDA instructions.
To assist you, I came across this website/blog that has instructions on how to unlock FDD bands on 503L. I have not tried it; I live in the US, even unlocking the FDD bands, I will not get LTE (main US LTE Bands are 2,4,17)

There is one blog claiming it works, but you two can't get it to work..........
Maybe it is not possible.
Maybe the modems are different after all.

Hello everyone ... I bought a Moto E XT1524 in Spain. The phone works on 3G bands 900 and 2100. In Argentina, the country where I live now, the 3G bands are 850/1900. Because of this my phone only works in 2G. Looking I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/unlock-hspa-bands-moto-g-1700mhz-xt1032-t2878441 that explaining how to unlock bands. The question is whether you know if the phone will have this possibility. I mean, if the chipset supports these bands and doing the procedure will fix my problem. Or definitely is a limitation of hardware.

I assume that the hardware is the same between phones, and that the radio bands are set by firmware. If I'm right about this, you would need to flash firmware on your phone that supported the bands that you want. However I am only guessing about this.

I'm here to know if someone knows if it's possible to use my smartphone with band 7 LTE (2600) FDD. As far as I know this version only supports band 3 LTE (1800) but the European version has support for it. Right?
Do you know if putting the European ROM can solve this? Or there is a hardware limitation of the Chinese version?

2600MHz is supported by EU Honor7. It is conditioned by structure therefore you can't just replace the system of Chinese model with EU and have it.
I got the dual sim chinese Honor 7 and it supports FDD 1800-2100 .
I don't know why i can use 4g since my carrier uses 800-2600...

Which carrier? Available information shows that almost all providers cover 2600MHz LTE. Exception is Nextel, which runs on 1800MHz, which is supported by Chinese H7. And there is absolutely no information on LTE 800MHz in Brasil.

Then this is a totally new information. If you have the Chinese Honor 7 and LTE on SFR, it should indeed support either 800 or 2600MHz.
It's not recognizable from any known specifications though. And having been in Austria I can definitely confirm that my phone doesn't work on LTE 2600.

Mine doesn't work at 2600 FDD LTE either. Unfortunately I'm using Oi's carrier in Brazil without 1800 FDD LTE support. Yet....
Does anyone know how to add or enable FDD-LTE band 4 (1700MHz). I already tried with MTK Engineer app but this and other bands are disabled and cannot be activated.

I second your motion, but AWS will be hard to unlock, as the US version of the phone supporting AWS is not shipping yet. Maybe when is out you could crossflash the phone to get support, or mod the modem ROM/baseband or something, but before that I don't think is possible.

It's impossible to flash new frequency ranges on any modem. Frequencies are purely Hardware based. The p9000 does not support USA LTE frequencies. (1700/2100 band 4). Although the website says the B version (US version) has been "coming soon" for months now.

Yes. The modem (sometimes called radio) will be different Hardware.
Thinking about buying this phone. Can you guys tell me the common issues with this phone? The one I'm most concerned with is the headphone jack, does it produce hiss sound at low volume? I ask this since I came across a lot of phones with that issue. Thanks in advance

I personally don't experience hissing on this phone. As far as issues, it involves the OTA from Vendor Roms which bricked some devices. You can check your ROM version and cross reference it with the ones on the Mi website to make sure. Aside from that, I don't see anything wrong with the phone.
Hi, I'm also considering to buy Note 5 and I just wanted to say that I don't have that problem with Note 4, it doesn't mean much since I don't use N5 but I think there is very very little chance for hissing issue in any device produced in 2017.

Hi, when I purchased seller offer also a global variant for 40 usd more.
Many people confuse about global device version and global firmware that it´s not the same.
You just have to pay special attention to the bands that is enabled, the global version has more bands enabled, by i.e my version that is a non global doesn´t have LTE bands 2 (1900) nor 4 (1700/2100) it mean that in my country it can´t work on 4G (of course I bought it so it is cause I didn´t need). This is the main difference.

I really don't understand because my device is working with the B4 (1700) band but it is not a real Global version. :silly:

Why do you say that has B4? Where you saw it?
Look at this info, just 4G apparted, this is a non-global version from a chinese seller you can find these specs;
4G FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600
TD LTE B38：2600 /B39：1900/ B40：2300 /B41：2500 MHz
TD or TDD is the LTE FOR China, look up FDD LTE bands.
And this is a Global version, seller usually put in a red highlighted the bands added
4G: FDD LTE B5:850 /B8:900 /B3:1800 /B1:2100 /B7:2600 /B4:1700 /B20:800;
TD LTE B38：2600 / B40：2300

No, if your device hasn´t these two added bands definitely it´s not a global version (global rom concept mean nothing for this) is a hardware limitation although can work within 4G depending on your company carrier in some of the 5 frequencies enabled.
I have a Chinese RN5, it has loads of bands dudes. The chance of it not working on your network are slim.
As for the headphones dilemma, they do not hiss or produce low volume. Altho if you pair them with Xiaomi Pro HD which have a high impedance then you will notice a lack in volume. That can be easily fixed with Dolby Atmos the Magisk Module.

While I get 5g in the states, some bands are a little different so I fall back to 4g more often.
Is it possible to put a US firmware on the SM-S198B and get the US bands? I believe the hardware is the same.

No you can't flash the International model with the US firmware, they are different hardware ,different motherboard and antennas , but i think T mobile supports the International version very well

It does once I enabled all the bands. But it's missing 71 which is what most of the T-Mobile 5G is Las Vegas uses.
