[Q] Roms/Help for the MediaPad 10 FHD - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Are there any active developed or at least usable ports for this nice little device?
Or why there aren't any?
Seems like all the love goes to the smaller ones.

This device is 2 years old, but still good.
You have to go back at least six months for info on other ROM.
I still run a chinese S10-101uV100R002C233B003 with a russian crack and a persian patch, so I can use mine as a telephone with a Bluetooth headset :good:
Use the search function to find what you need.

The CM9 nightlies are working great for me
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using XDA
AOKP has been running great for me.
Classic Nerd and CherryKang working great here.
This is liking who has the best Pizza.. Everyone has a preference.
Since these are APLHA, each will have a plus and minis to them.
CM9 Alpha 2 has nightlies, so they are doing this and that, and it might break CM or not. So staying up to date CM is the way to go.
ClassicNerd and AOKP are also work in progress setting out on updates that are as stable as can be, but, nothing always works perfect. Its ALPHA's per se
I would load in CM first since it all started with them. Test it and if seems stable enough, save it using CWM. Then start checking the CN AOKP Cherries and all..
This is what is nice, you can save anything and test it.. If you LIKE IT, stick with it..
I use both CM9 A2 on my TP and CN on wifes.. No problem with either than no Netflix on CN..But there is always a work around..
My 2 cents.
I've tired just about all of them. While most worked I found most also had one problem or another at least for me. For example some didn't support my HP Bluetooth keyboard properly. IE when using the keyboard the soft-keyboard also poped up and all the keys on the physical keyboard didn't work properly. Others had WiFi issues. Despite connecting to the same WiFi hot spots some ROM's couldn't reliably make a connection while others worked 100% of the time.
In the end I'm using the CM9 nightly since it at a least for me has no issues and everything I use works great, good WiFi, Bluetooth keyboard etc.

nope. there's numerous android tablet available in the market. out of the box ready to use.
well if they perform the same, I dont mind to tinker a bit with it. and its cheaper too
cm9 works good
i waited until CM9 A2
its solid, but not perfect (camera not working)
I'm not doing nightlies because there have been a couple problems and don't want to risk bricking anything
ultimately, it is all what you like better, several options.
i'm waiting for beta now
(and btw thank you to those involved in dev work!)

still no. In a month or two, ASUS will be releasing a Google tablet that will likely be better spec'd for less than you can buy a touchpad for today. It will in all likelyhood see just as much love as the touchpad, if not more so due to availability.
hmm.. I could get a used touchpad for $150
#14
but the Asus Tegra3 tablet will be 7'' wich is as close to my phone than to my TP...
7 inch is too small for a Tablet IMO, especially with all the new phones that have a screen size of 4.3''++

I'm like you, I kind of like tinkering. If I wanted a phone/tablet that worked out of the box, I would get an apple (don't hate, you know what I say is true). But I like tinkering, trying new ROMS, and I'm kind of a flashoholic. So I bought the touchpad for 160. Tell me where else you can get this kind of hardware for that price?
I prefer Classicnerd, but right now it doesn't support Netflix and YT HD, so I am on CM9 official nightly. Right now its the most up to date from out there with the new ICS 4.0.4 merge just released from Google. Its sleek fast and right on.

I have a Touchpad and a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (got it refurb'd). Performance wise, they are very similar (both on ICS). The touchpad actually benchmarks a little bit higher than the GTab.
I'm running AOKP milestone 4 CM9 on both tablets, and I can tell you the TP runs ICS silky smooth. Neither one has a working camera in ICS, but I don't use it, so it's not a bother to me. The TP does tend to have more bugs (wifi for some), and mine had the sleep of death until I disabled the lock screen, and installed a different kernel (don't know which one fixed it, lol).
The G-Tab is a bit nicer, lighter, thinner, and has a better/sharper screen. But for the price, the Touchpad really can't be beat.
why? The touchpad is great for the price! If you can find a cheap one you've struck gold. Look, if you don't like/ want to flash roms get an android tablet. Me, im a flashaholic I like to flash the lasted of everything. Its an addiction I need to stop

[Q] MIUI ROM on MEDIAPAD ???

possible MIUI rom ported to MediaPad?
I see MIUI rom on Nexus 7 it's so cool... :crying:
miui nexus 7 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841208
I've never been a fan of miui roms, they look so much like iphone ui, and all those colored icons and layouts make the device look like a tablet for kids.
if it's even possible to port a rom to the mediapad i prefer something from samsung 7" tablets, the look of touchwiz is really special.
I don't think anyone is working on a MIUI rom. I personally wouldn't want to turn my tablet into a giant phone, since to my knowledge they haven't implemented a tablet UI yet. It seems like there aren't many developers working on ROMs for our device as it is, I say let them work on trying to get HDMI on Jelly Bean instead.
HTC sense from flyer would be great if someone port it

There's a very large library of themes to change the colored icons and menus. Even still, I don't think the default looks at all like the iPhone.
I have MIUI on my phone and absolutely love it. Menus, toggles, drop down/pop-ups are so much cleaner. Would be awesome to have on my tablet too.

Remember when cyanogenmod team brought life back to all our old phones? i was one of the lucky ones to get my HTC WILDFIRE supported by CM. at the same time MIUI pulled the middle finger and said F**K YOU!! we only develop for the the powerul devices.
what's the point of an after-market ROM when it dosn't support devices with few features.
after all, we are still stuck with two CM and AOKP ROMs that are not qualified enough to be used daily! how can we now start on MIUI?
it's useless
i'm sorry but that's the truth :crying: and i'm sad as F**K seeing all other devices on xda having tens of working ROMs.
we need more developers. i'm not one, but i help testing and do all my best to get something working.
huawei published all ics sources long time ago. It doesn't seems that's not helping, we already have an unlocked bootloader by default... pointless complaint imho, we only need interested developers

From my understanding, the T-Mo springboard is a redone Huawei Mediapad. The Springboard here has a very very small userbase, however the mediapad in China (from what I understand) has a much larger base. Given that MIUI is developed in China... I would think that the tablet might get some attention.

Xiaomi Mi3 16GB Snapdragon (WCDMA)

Hello,
I dont know if my topic fits here in the category (General)
But i have a fuw questions about my new smartphone (Xiaomi Mi3 WCDMA version)
Because i have always used a Google phone (android) MIU5 is a hole diffrent OS.
So my question is there a possible way to install Google Play, and that is very stable on it?
Because i know xda-board is a very advanced board if it is something about phones, so if somebody can help me out here.???
------------
My Xiaomi Mi-3 Review.
New phone:
Since Xiaomi had released the Mi-3, there was an outbreak.
With the specifications and the low price Xiaomi had set an smartphone that is not only in China so populair but abroad the country to.
And you can see it with sales they made everytime the new stock was out.
In serval minutes there was a bunch of them sold out. The biggest one was more than 100.000 units in less than 90 seconds. You can see how populair the phone was. Because the new version with the latest highly clocked Snapdragon800 in it. Xiaomi set up an new variaty of people to there market.
Xiaomi is still out of stock in the most versions, and will be for a fuw moths.
Design:
The design of the Xiaomi Mi-3 is one of the most beuutifull phones ever made. The roundings the buttons the ultra-thin magnesium alluminum alloy gives the phone a very nice look. The roughness of the phone with his big 5 inch screens feels so nice in your hands. You dont have trouble with using one hand (only if you have big hands)
Hardware:
Xiaomi haves two versions of the Mi-3. The tegra4 TD-SCDMA only can be used in China, and the Snapdragon WCDMA an European/American/others parts of the world. Both CPU’s are diffrent clocked. the Tegra4 is clocked to max with 1.8Ghz, and the Snapdragon800 is clocked 2.3Ghz. The driffrence in the speed of the phone is actualy the same. Both versions are smooth tasking. There is no lag or something bothering you. With his 2GB on both version you are for now a happy guy. You can play the latest games on your phone as you want. With the new amazing LG Full-HD resolution IPS screen it makes the so beuatifull. The colors of the phone pop out. The angles on the screen are nice, somebody next to you will not having trouble to not see the screen.
Software:
Mi-3 is running on two diffrent android version. The tegra4 runs at an 4.2.3 android. And Snapdragon800 runs on an 4.3 newer version of the android. When you recieve your phone you can choose if you want to use it in chinese or English. If you choose english you still will see some chinese signs at the screen. This is one thing that the developers dont have chainged. But i cant hurt. You will not recieve Google App store on it, you must download it by your self. Xiaomi is very smart if you wanna use Google services, you must have an Xiaomi account, and trough the account you can download google installer. And from there you can use any google app you want.
Yes, it is possible!

I don't know if this is the right category for you question, but I'm not a moderator so I don't need to know that actually.
What I know on the other hand is that you can easily install Google Apps (GApps) on your Xiaomi Mi3. You won't need any experience with flashing gapps from internal storage or SD-card, it is easy as pie!
Once you have your phone open the MIUI Store and search for "Google". The developer Eric Xiang has put together an excellent Google Installer app. The name is in Chinese, but just search for it in English and you will find it. The installer will take care of everything else.
If that doesn't work, you should try rooting your device and flashing Gapps manually.
thank you in advance.
The GAPP store is in english right? Not chinese.
Hope i will can fix it. Uhm are there customroms made for the XIAOMI or not? So i can try that to if it doesent work for me...

and yet another one by a friend of mine:
I have the phone for about 3/4 days right now.
And the MIUIV5 launcher, if you using it for the first time. Its a little bit strange.
But after using it for a while, you learn fast and see how powerfull the launcher is.
The 1ste you always do is install gapps on your phone.
I Had to make some questions an supported boards, to get it work. But now i am pleased with the usage of the phone and the powerfull hardware whats in it.
Love the phone for now, will definitly stay at the MIUI community.
One thing: i hope they can fix an Android Stock 4.4 Kitkat OS with multi-lang....
I dont know why Cynogenmod doesent come for Xiaomi Mi-3, or other custom roms for it.
XDA-developers are the moest anticipated people for smartphones, i hope they will be release an Xiaomi mi-3 miuiV5 or later v6 CUSTOM ROM OR SOMETHING.
i tough there will be alot of them because it is Androind but nothing

My issues are:

2. Ram is filling quikly <- not solved
3. Google account had some problems (was my fault because did not install google contacts.apk) <- solved
If these things are solved, than you have an bad-ass phone..

I'm using the latest MIUI version: 4.1.24 in Polish and I have no problems from the department in both the 3 and 2G. Everything in my MI 3 WCDMA works perfectly.
I have the CDMA version with miuiV5. It works great. No problems encountered. I just wish I knew how to make a custom ROM. I have a developer rom and the V5 rom. Tried both and they both work fantastic.
Maybe you know how to turn off the meter data. After exceeding the set limit further changes cause complications itelefon off my data transmission. I do not need to set this limit, I enclosed it with curiosity, and I have no problem.

It is not. Perhaps it's successor - the rumoured MI3S - might have this feature.
Btw. I have a 64GB Mi3 and so far I am very happy with this phone; even without LTE-support.
I am very happy with my phone. It is a 64GB Grey Mi3. The 3G on AT&T is fine but slow.
The Data speeds are not that fast but it gets the job done. I get some time out errors from time to time.
I like to be able to get the Temp that displays on the lock screen and home screen(default) to display current location instead of in China. Can't seem to get the default Maps app to work in the US even with it locking in on GPS it displays China. Google Maps works fine but a little show and sometimes has defaulted back to a Chinese location first until a signal lock happens and then it will find my current location.
Starbucks app doesn't work on my phone.
When I click on an autocorrected word that has a red underline on it the app will crash and send me back to home. Bug has been reported.
When saving pictures from the internet it doesn't default to a standard folder. It uses the cloud folder and even with sync to cloud off I have to move it to the main local folder to get the pictures available to send or attach to email.
Speedtest.net doesn't connect to show download speeds. It will show a slow upload speed.
Visual VoiceMail doesn't seem to work on AT&T's network. If I give them my old HTC One IEMI number the visual voicemail works but the DATA does not. I can live with it for now.
Anyone got the Visual Voicemail to work with connecting Data on AT&T? If so what phone did they put in the system to make it work? the HTC One does not work. Confirmed this twice.
If they release an LTE version that would work with AT&T here that would be killer!!! I really do like the phone. The size, the weight, the shape. I would love to see this one in White or Silver 64GB.

Is the Nexus 10 still a worthwhile tablet?

The Nexus 10 was the first 10" tablet I had and it was the most enjoyable tablet I had. Haptic feedback, camera flash, two decent sounding speakers, and the screen size were all pretty nice bonuses.
I'm looking to buy another tablet in the future. Ideally, I want 10" or larger, and the ability to use custom ROMs (does the N10 still have official Cyanogenmod support?) or even better, native Linux. The Nexus 10 seems pretty affordable nowadays, and as long as I can throw a clean ROM onto it (AOSP or CM), I'd be pretty good to go.
So, would a Nexus 10 be a good investment nowadays, or is there another tablet that would be a better choice?

I bought mine in Dec. of 2012 and still use it every day. I've tried a lot of ROMs in the last 3 years, but I keep coming back to the rooted stock ROM (link below). It 's still getting regular security updates and just seems to run the best. I find no reason to go out and buy anything newer, this tab just keeps going and going. I say Go For It!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-10/development/rom-21-11-2014-t2948203
I think N10 is still a good tablet (I'm writing this on mine), especially if you don't intend to run modern games on it. For browsing , youtube and occasional simple productivity tasks - it's just great. Mine is 2 years old now and I think I'll keep it for another year at least. Will try putting marshmellow on it though, I'm just curious like that
As for alternatives, I'd say Sony xperia Z4 tablet is by far the best tablet out there right now. A friend got it recently and it's just great, really. Light, thin, great display (same resolution as N10) and battery life. And it has microsd slot. And you can even put AOSP on it, becase Sony provides binaries. Check it out, but it's probably like twice the price of N10.
My Nexus 10 is two years old and I still love it, although it's starting to chug a little more when switching between apps. I don't know that I would buy one today unless it's brand new (probably hard to find these days) and you got a decent deal on it.
I like my wife's Nexus 9, particularly the aspect ratio. I just wish it had that extra inch of screen space.
My N10 runs fast and smooth. I use stock rooted rom. It runs best on the stock rom.
I bought mine two months ago used. Running stock 5.1.1 and it's a bit slow but for what I use which is solely for media consumption it's great. Nice screen real estate and loud speakers.
Yes! I bought mine used aswell , and Running Marshmallow on it very well, very smooth and fast. Nothing to complaint.
I've had mine for a number of years now. Overall I've been pleased with it until recently. I'm having Wifi issues that drive me crazy. Also, it appears there's a major problem with YouTube that causes the tablet to reboot after only a few seconds of video. I get the feeling the device is just not getting the love from the Google developers that it needs.
My parents own one and have the known " yellow smudge" on the display. I would consider a different tablet.

Hi, im using OmniRom from scanno, you can find it here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-10/orig-development/rom-t3045066)
There are nice differences yes, I find it smoother and with also better battery life. It works very good in every task I do. Although, I find stock 5.1.1 pretty good also but sometimes I had some crashes on youtube and slowing down performance when using it. If you have more specific questions I would be glad to answer if I can. You should try the ROM !!!

Oh ! well if it isnt a trouble for you I recomend you continue using 5.1.1 , its a very good ROM on performance. But if you wish to try on watching 1440p youtube videos I would recomend you to try OmniRom 6.0.1 version! So you still get Omni features and stability and also with Marshmallow features and battery managment.
---------- Post added at 08:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:34 PM ----------
There is also a new AICP build with Marshmallow 6.0.1 running well:

So that you have other options to enjoy
Got mine as a Christmas gift from my wife three years ago. I still use it pretty regularly. The only issue I have is the battery isn't what it used to be (to be expected after 3 years).
Interestingly enough, I still use an AOKP PUB build (Android 4.3, I think - don't have it in front of me) because it was one of the last builds with the ability to have a true tablet UI (back/home/recent buttons on bottom left, status bar/notifications, etc. on bottom right).
I'll probably keep it until it's completely dead. But I'm not sure I have a real need for a tablet. If I'm ever in the market for something else, I'll almost certainly buy a Surface or some other laptop/tablet hybrid.
When I bought my N10 back in early 2013 I thought I wouldn't use it much.. The only thing I regret is getting the 16GB version. I don't think my Note 2 - launched approximately the same time - has been keeping the momentum equally good and it has been upgraded to a N4. But the N10 is aging like wine and I'm impressed to see mine still going after will these years. Would I get a "new" one today? Probably not. But I don't feel a need to upgrade either.
Also as rodeojones writes above.. Do I REALLY need a tablet? Probably not. My N4 is big enough when I'm not at home and when I'm home I usually use my desktop computer. But AICP 11 is working very well...

Huawei T1 8 Pro - A way to confuse people and put my 2 cents

US..ONLY..So after an extensive research ...I bought the biggest Smartphone I can get...An 8 inch screen phone with a good battery life. For starters, here is what I found out...
Huawei has several models that are very confusing and even their customer service were not that much informative. models I have encountered are the following:
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 823 L - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage (Limited Bands for LTE but 4G speeds were fast enough for my use, got it from ebay)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 L - 1 GB RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB Storage options (More bands for LTE but 1 GB of RAM only)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Honor - 821 W - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage option (I think the W stands for WIFI...this I cannot confirm)
Huawei T1 8 Pro Mediapad - 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage from gethuawei website...out of stock as of this writing)
Huawei T1 8 Mediapad - 1 GB RAM and 16 GB Storage
This one has 4.4 for Android OS...I do not know if http://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...ot-huawei-mediapad-t1-8-0-pro-lte-t1-t3262608
has found a way to upgrade to Lollipop and remove bloatwares.
personally, the hardware is decent and battery life is great. I used it for 1 day and end fo the day still had 50% of battery life. I do need to have big pants though. Is there anyone trying to develop an updated OS for this system?

Nope nobody is developing anything to this device... Not even Huawei I guess... BTW after root bloatware can be easily removed...
Too bad...

Too Bad, this is a good device and the battery life is good for a phone with an 8 inch screen. It is also good for those who have problems with vision and not wanting to be bringing 2 devices for travels.
I may have to learn programming to see if I can update this...
I have the MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro and it has the best radio/modem for T-Mobile coverage. It even covers their HSPDA+ 750 MhZ band which only a few phones cover; this is the band that T-Mobile calls the "building buster" for its ability to penetrate most buildings. So yeah for all that.. I'm now waiting for an 8-inch phablet that's octo-core and features Lollipop or Marshmallow. So far I have been unable to find one..
So which one of the above did you get? 823L, 821L, or the one from Gethuawei website?...i m like you impressed with the build but needs a pure Android OS to maximize it's potential.
A have the pro8 t1-821L its rootable and bloatware can be removed this way I have also unlocked the bootloader but there is no custom recovery or ROM which is a damn shame because it's nice bit of kit a can watch movies all night long on it and still not need to charge it also am not locked to EE either so if any devs r reading this post please help this phablet out? cheers

I would have wanted the 821L also but there were no 2GB available anywhere. Only 1 GB. But even with my 823L and connecting at 4G, the speed is negligible in our area which is Central Florida. I get to watch Netflix, and Youtube also with not much lag. And I do not have to squint from a small screen. Agree, also that if anyone can build a custom ROM that's plain Android Lolllipop would be nice.
Would a T1 8 Cutom ROM work for the T1 8 Pro?

The page you linked is not good. The download links are there just to make you send money. Currently there are no custom recovery for huawei t1 8.0 neither to t1 8.0 pro without that installing custom roms are not really convenient. And also I wasn't able to find any custom rom especially on XDA, so I'm pretty sure thereare no "hints" on xda as the page says....
Huawei MediaPad T1 8.0 Pro GSM Unlocked 4G LTE US
Yes I do agree with everyone here. It is a very great device and a lot of bang for your buck plus more. The great thing about it is that you can basically make it however you want it. I manually updated mine to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Which took some time because Huawei is a very new brand and I had to get used to there EmotionUI. Which didn't take long because its Android too. Just without the app drawer. So its kind of ahead because Android N is going that direction from what I hear. Also after rooting and installing BusyBox I tried to install xPosed. But the Huawei device wouldn't take it because they already have there own framework. So I started to tinker more with it and found out that yes indeed they have framework already. That's why it reads a message error when trying to install xPosed and it says something about xPosed not being compatible. I believe it has something to do with their EmotionUI. Not sure though because that's my first Huawei experience. The device is really solid though. Resolution can be tweaked and the display looks so gorgeous then. Values for everything can be tweaked to make the OS run liquid smooth and fast with very little noticeable lag or hiccups. Also the volume values can change as well giving it a more premium sound. Camera resolution was turned up along with high quality pictures. So the pics stayed sharp looking. Also when some values are entered it gives the gaming experience so much more life through the CPU and the GPU. Rendering gets way better too. Also changing the data values gives it more LTE speed too. Along with other values that make the browser loading times instantly. Even when being on the mobile data network seems like you would be connected to WiFi. It saves a lot of data too. And the battery is amazing. I'm trying to remember what other tweaks worked perfect for it and it ran with no problems. Oh yes it can multi task with up to four things going on. I got the app where you can, watch YouTube and Google something. And watch something on eBay all in different windows at the same time. It got warm but handles it very well. You should overclock it and have the battery set on smart mode. Oh yes and change the font. I had Disney font on it and went to a more modern font look. I'll let y'all know what else I did if I can think of anymore things. Just reply I will come back to this forum. It is my most favorite device of all at the moment. And Huawei is so new too.

So sorry the link is not working...I guess it's up to this thread if we can have enough people to put our thought and reviews together about this device. As of today, I started looking at battery life, Pulled out the charger at 7 AM, Now its 7 Pm and I still at 70%.

Can we use a T1 10 Pro Rom for this device? Any of our XDA programmers chime in...?
So I just bought a Huawei ascend mate 7... finished using the tablet phone as I am almost done with my school... It was a nice piece of hardware and convenient in not having to bring two devices... But now I need mobility so I will be selling this one soon on eBay. If only it had a good following to install a updated os ....
