Sprint g3 on att - Sprint LG G3

I have a Rooted ls990 with bumped TWRP and barrin rom on it. Not using it at the moment and my brother hates his att moto x so I wonder if I put his Sim in it will I have any problems. Thanks for any help you all can give me.

No it wont work, sim port is locked. But, have you tried HERE?

I wasn't able to get it working on Barrin, but Cloudy G3 worked for me. I flashed Cloudy, changed the antenna to GSM via the Network app, and rebooted (already had the at&t sim in it). When it came back up it was working like a charm, didn't even have to change the APN.
Disclaimer - I'm using a Straight Talk sim on at&t's towers, but it should be exactly the same as an actual at&t sim.

It could be done I made a post about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/how-to-gsm-unlock-t2961099 there is another one you could try under the general form but some say it dosent work but you can try both.

Changed SIM cards, old number still works

So I was having issues with Sprint service (that's my hypothesis at least) and decided to try out an at&t straight talk sim card. After flip flopping back and forth Sim cards a couple times trying to get things to work and making changes to the APN (several ones) and build.prop (which I ended up reversing) and changing roms twice I finally got it to work! Whew. I was excited to test out the new service and see if it was Sprint or my G3 that was giving me issues...
That was yesterday at like 8 am. Today I just realized that everyone is still contacting me with my old number, and when I make calls or send texts it comes from my old one by default. I verified and my Sprint sim is on the table, Straight Talk/Tracfone is in my G3. I did not transfer my number, and at one point yesterday while trying to get this all to work I sent my wife a text and it came to her from the ST number and not my old number. Not any more though!
I started figuring things out on BarRin, then switched to an old backup of zv6 or whatever that's called, and now I'm on CM12. I don't know how to get the ST number to work, which I really need to do if I'm going to be switching cell providers..
Has anyone ran into this before? Any ideas? Thanks!

If unlocked the Sim you need to change network to GSM otherwise it will access CDMA (Sprint 3G) the SIM only accesses LTE for Sprint.

OK thank you, I forgot changes I made wouldn't have stuck because of other things I did. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change APN or network on cm12. I downloaded the Network app and changed to gsm only, but it switches back to CDMA after a couple seconds.
Edit: in case anyone stumbled in here looking for help, I did finally get my phone working with a straight talk sim card. I had to install the Cloudy ROM instead of cm12, but it's good to go. While on cloudy I downloaded the Network app, changed to the GSM option and rebooted. Worked like a charm!

Used my VS985 while traveling (foreign sim) with no problems

This may be totally obvious and non informative to some and for that I apologize, but I'm putting it out there anyways.
I recently traveled around South Africa for a bit and was able to use my Verizon LG G3 VS985 rooted bumped running official CyanogenMod 11 latest nightlies (via cyandelta) with absolutely no problems. I put the Vodacom sim (South African cell company) in the phone and it worked perfectly. I was able to get HSPA, 3G, and EDGE without any problems and no modifications made to anything. The phone did all the work automatically.
Supposedly there was LTE available in some parts of the country, but I could never get it. I tried switching APNs, changing radio radio bands in the *#*#4636#*#* and still could not get it. I was tempted to try and unlock the other LTE bands (as seen in a thread that I'm too lazy to look up at the moment) but I decided to hold off until later.
I also put the Vodacom sim into my LG G2 that was running a stock rooted something and that worked perfectly too(still no LTE). Was weird using that again though after the G3. Made me really appreciate the bad ass-ness of the G3.
Anyways hope this was not a waste of post. Rock on G3
Always good to hear a firsthand account from a traveler.
It would be useful if you could post what you used for APN entries as well.

All the APNs were auto populated and I just experimented with a couple different ones. Vodacom.sa and vodacom.lte.sa were the two that I tried. Ended up just keeping it on the LTE one hoping that it would pick up LTE at some point. Both APNs gave me similar performance and service. I never had to mess with the actual APN settings or manually input anything.
That's great, but pretty strange since the vs985 requires a new APN setting to be manually entered in the USA each time I switch to either my T-mobile or AT&T sim.

[Q] one max on t mobile.

I'm currently using my bone stock untouched Verizon max on t mobile. Looking for a rom that will work well on this carrier, or better than the stock Verizon rom in global mode. I did put in apn settings however mms msg's are hit or miss as well as lte. I get lte randomly, but mostly stay in "h" but the factory Verizon rom won't let me edit carrier code settings (310-260 for t-mobile).
So in the short if anyone has successfully done the switch to t-mobile with their Verizon variant one max and what rom worked the best for you or worked well in general would be appreciated.
Thanks
my experience
I have the sprint version and I am using it on t-mobile. Vipers rom has the best stability and options. You should be able to edit apns and everything on there. I was having issues but I believe mine to be strictly from being the sprint version, which i know i should've found the verizon one, but too late lol.
I was running CM11 and everything was working for me but I had random lockups when the phone was asleep so i went back to using Viper rom.

Flashing different rom for new carrier

I have a verizon htc one max s-off, rooted, running the adrenaline rom. I am about to switch carriers to tmobile. I bought a cheap straight talk kit just to see what the service would be like but i only was picking up the edge band?
Anyways after reading some post i added lines to build.prop and changed sku_id=13 to 11 in the defualt.xml in system/customize. It still would not get 3g or 4g. Everything else worked great. I read somewhere my rom is missing the bands.
So i think all the custom verizon roms wont help me? I need a international rom correct? Can you flash a different carrier rom over? I don't want to brick my phone. I don't want to stay with verizon either. Would love to keep this phone and rom. But its looking like i need a different rom to use tmobile.
I found skydragon v2.0 vzw thats supposed to work. But the dowmload buttom at 4uplod.com always lags out. Could not find another download.
My overall goal is to get 4g on tmobile. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks! I looked up super cid and saved the page.
I think I'm just going to pick up a T-Mobile m7 for now. Seem to be pretty cheap. Having trouble finding a tmobile compatible HTC one Max rom

Unable to activate rooted HTC One M8 on AT&T after FreedomPop

First of all, I'm not sure if this is better suited for the M8 section or a more general section, so if it should be moved, please do so mods.
A while ago I gave my HTC One M8 running LeeDroid to my dad, who has been using it on FreedomPop. The other day, he took it in to an AT&T corporate store to switch it over to them, but they were unable to get it to work. They tested the SIM they were using in another phone and it worked there, but his phone wouldn't activate. The guy told him it could be because AT&T has started blocking rooted phones from activation, though that sounds a bit unlikely, and I'm not seeing anything about it, so I don't think that's the issue. I should also mention before I gave it to him I was using it on AT&T, until the USB port broke so I got a new phone, after which I fixed the port and gave it to him.
I'm thinking one of two things is happening: they still have the phone in their system from before and that's preventing it from being reactivated (though AFAIK that shouldn't be an issue), or FreedomPop has it locked to them, but I'm not even sure they can do that with a GSM phone since I would think the lock would be on the SIM card, not the phone. Are either of these possible/likely, or could it be because it's rooted and AT&T has changed their policy, or is there something else going on that I'm not considering? Any ideas?
https://support.freedompop.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3308/
My bet is that FreedomPop has the phone locked to them.
Had to Google for FreedomPop, to see what it is. But looking at what I read (and the link provided above), they use the Sprint network, which is a CDMA network. And also it looks like a Sprint phone is mandatory for use on FreedomPop. So all this means to me, that you have the Sprint variant M8. And Sprint phones (due to their CDMA support) are difficult, if not impossible to work on AT&T. With most "GSM" phones, you just put the SIM in the device, and there really shouldn't be any "activation" needed (provided you have a working SIM). But CDMA devices are different. While the Sprint M8 is designed to use some foreign GSM SIMs when travelling abroad, getting them to work on a US GSM network (like AT&T) is difficult to impossible. The Sprint M8 is probably not even the same hardware as the AT&T version M8, although the information is somewhat contradictory on this point.
In short, I don't think your problem has anything to do with root, or it having been used on FreedomPop, per se. The problem is the hardware itself not being compatible with the AT&T network.

As mentioned, it's a GSM phone, specifically it's the AT&T branded version, and has successfully been on the AT&T network before.

Don't see where you mentioned that in your top post.
I know you posted to the AT&T M8 device section. But the notion that it is the AT&T (or any GSM version M8) contradicts the statement that the phone was used on FreedomPop. If it's a GSM version (like AT&T) it wouldn't work on a CDMA network like Sprint. And from what the info shows, Sprint is the network used by FreedomPop.
If it were the AT&T version, or any unlocked GSM version, you would be able to just put the AT&T SIM in the phone, and it would work. No "activation" is required. The SIM lock is on the phone (not the SIM), and the only way a phone could be SIM locked (after being unlocked) is by possessing the phone itself, and relocking it.
Root doesn't matter either. All my phones have been rooted, and work fine on AT&T. Again, I just put the SIM in, and it works.
Do fastboot getvar all, and post the results. Delete IMEI and serial number before posting. This will tell us conclusively what version of the phone, and may give us other clues what the problem is.
