Now that development has taken off for our devices, can we expect a port of multiROM in the future?
Interested as well...

Prob not...I have 2 Nexus devices and I remember reading somewhere from the dev that he will most likely not be porting multirom to devices he does not have. His only support right now is for Nexus devices bc it's what he owns.

So I'm just curious to know how possible it would be to have this phone running F2FS ( sharing the same internals as the nexus 5 ) ?
And being similar to the N5 , how easy would it be to port over AOSP?
What I'm personally wondering is if, now that there's an Asus PadFone device forum on xda, we'll see development for other PadFone devices.
I'm not sure if that's a question or a statement lol
It's a question and a hope at the same time.
Amen to that
Hi!
This is my first post here, so I do apologise if it is not in the correct place (I tried to do my best). I would like to know a list of devices under 150$ | 140€ | 100£ currently supporting Cyanogen Mod 12.1, I'm looking for devices with official support like the Motorola Moto G (2013) or discuss devices that could get it some day (Xiaomi Redmi 2??).
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm talking about devices with official support and stable enough to use it as a daily driver. I've got a Mi4 and it is working pretty well with it.
Looking into the Cyanogen website I've found these devices supporting CM12.1 and around the price I'm looking for, hope it will help!
Nexus 5
Nexus 4
Yu Yuphoria
Huawei SnapTo
Motorola Moto G (2013)
Motorola Moto X
Thanks
Looks like the developer preview has arrived for Nexus devices. I was wondering that since Hammerhead and Onyx are very similar if it could be ported or if it's a possibility. Here's the benefits of being able to do this:
1. Android N support on release from Google. We would have a fully working ROM the same day Nexus devices see it
2. We can start working on patches quickening the development process.
3. Access to new features that could potentially be back ported to M for stable ROMs
4. A fully developed device tree on launch
5. It's Android N? Who wouldn't want to run it in spite of it being incredibly buggy?
Just a thought.
There is no Android N for Nexus 5, only 5x etc man.

Even then. Just read that. I wonder if it's still a possibility

Not yet. But see Google Git: https://android.googlesource.com/device/lge/hammerhead/
As you can see, Nexus 5 (hammerhead) will have Android N developer Preview, and I think it will be soon.

It seems they're trying to get it to work on 5 but is not for now, you can see nexus 7 too.
For sure it'll arrive unofficially.
I have tried with a good friend to port the preview on Opx. Actually we have a kernel problem. When the phone boot it goes pratically into 2 secs into recovery. We have to wait more time until we get kernel N full sources and study better the situation
You're a power user. Can the Xiaomi Mi A1 keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Xiaomi Mi A1. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No kernel source after 4+ month.
Community development will die this way
I just found this one. I hope its true!!

Appearently the sources have been just released : https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-needs-to-adhere-to-the-rules-of-android-832599/
Development is dead. No real progress from the time we did not have sources to the time when we have sources. Sorry mates, I personally do not have knowledge to build roms or kernels myself, else I would ahve contributed. We have a semi functional build of LOS 14.1 and that is all we got.
Development pretty much dead i think. Developers shows no interest to develop for the device anymore, this pretty much caused by Xiaomi themselves.

Sadly it looks that way, maybe something will change, redmi note 5 was released last week and already have official twrp and first custom rom.
But mi A1 is still a great phone, it will get androdi P and I personally love stock Android.
I'd say pretty healthy, especially loving the italian dev community
Plenty of ROMs nowadays for our MiA1.
Any change since mid-April? I'm considering moving on from my Galaxy Note 3 onto this device, since it has all the latest features I'm looking for. (Dual cameras, fingerprint scanner, USB-C port)

We have official Lineage OS 15.1 now
I would love having official LineageOS ?
Wonderful development community !

Can someone explain to me why this topic is important?
What are the benefits from a "strong community development"?
Thanks

The principal benefit is a long life of updates.

Hey guys need some recommendation should i buy this or wait for mi a2?
I think development for this a1 is going to get more advanced in near future what do you say?

Pretty quick for a Xiaomi device
Great, I want to purchase a Mi 8 SE when it is available in my country and I will install LineageOS :3
Does this basically mean we are about to see a massive surge in development of custom roms and kernels for it ?

If we're lucky! It all depends on developers adopting development for the device as with every device. But price to hardware ratio I think (and hope) that it'll happen. When a good ROM comes out, this will probably be my next device!

If it's released globally, then expect a ton of Roms and kernels
example: Mi note 3 has the sources, but is China-only, so development is pretty much dead

I do expect it too as well. It's already available from several importers. However Xiaomi announced that the 'regular' Mi 8 is coming to Europe in August - no mention of the SE version though.

Already get the phone mi8 SE, 710 is pretty good, waiting for the twrp & lineageos....
