I'm sure it's something simple in a setting but I need your insight figuring it out. WHen my Note 3 is BT Connected to my Gear S, I can't get the Okay Google to input any data. It will respond to the Okay Google command but when it goes to "listen" for me to say something, it will not hear me and simply times out.
What am I doing wrong?
Same with my Note Edge....

Maybe a conflict with S Voice?
I've never even setup S Voice on my Note 4 (though I do use it on the Gear). Perhaps research the disabling of S Voice?
Me Too
It is the same with my Note 4 and Gear S. Not sure how to disable s-voice on the watch - and since it doesn't have google search I am not sure I would want to either......

I use S-voice on the watch and have no trouble using Google Now (OK Google) on the connected Note 4.
I was suggesting you try to disable S Voice on the phone.
I'm not sure how to disable it on the phone completely. I have disabled the home button shortcut and voice activation but this doesn't help.
SVoice is disabled on mine and there is still no input when connected to the Gear S.
Mine just stopped working as well. Disconnect the Gear S and OK google works fine, connect and it doesn't respond, even when the microphone button is directly tapped.
Edit: Solved it.
Settings/ Languages and input / Voice Search
Bluetooth Headset - Uncheck
OK Google was trying to use the Gear S as a bluetooth headset.

Genius! Thanks a lot - this was driving me crazy!
Same problem here on my Note 4 too. Already found that turning off the bluetooth headset option in Google Search settings resolved issue. Problem is, I want to use that option when in the car because Google Search doesn't work properly when paired to the car. I was hoping this option fixed that issue.
That did it ...awesome! It was driving me crazy on my Note 5

Well...I'll see if it will still work in my car.....I've never had the Bluetooth function turned on before and it worked fine ...I do however have to pause the music in order for ok google to hear me ...the phone hears the ok google command not the head unit

I finally connected my GS2 to my 2010 Grand Sport Corvette, well I am having problems. The problem is that I can't get Voice Talk or car mode to work while it's connected to Bluetooth. The minute I double press the home button or click on Voice Talk it opens and immediately closes. What's going on?
No one is experiencing this? this was a huge feature for me to be able to use hands free phone in car with voice control.

Hi all,
I have searched the forums and have not seen anything related to my question so please forgive me if this is repetitive.
I have never used a BT Headset before and I just bought a little cheap one today. It works very well and I only paid $10 bucks for it so I am quite satisfied but...
In the instructions, it tells me how to make "voice calls" from the headset but it says to "enable the function" on my mobile device and I cannot find where you "ENABLE" this on my phone.
Can anyone point me to where and how I do this? Do I need an app of some kind to do this or should this function be native to the SGSII?
If this may be ROM related... Please see my siggy for info...
Please advise...
Thanks,
Just pressing the button on the Bluetooth device for a second should bring up the voice controls.
Thanks for the reply but that is the problem... Pressing the button on the BT device does nothing. I hear the tone in my ear as the instructions mention but nothing opens up on the phone.
I realized that I did not have the voice Dialer apk installed so I installed it but still nothing happens when I press the BT Device button. It only opens when I press the app on screen and I want COMPLETE HANDS FREE...
Try making sure you have VoiceToGo installed and your rom didn't replace it with that homemyhome app. I never had voice dialer work with the BT button either so I had to stay stock voice apps.
What rom are you on? I can't see sigs since I disabled them a long time ago.

I have "Vlingo" installed and I think that is what you mean by "voice to go" if Im not mistaken. Vlingo only works if you press all of the appropriate buttons on screen and only accepts commands from the phones mic and not the BT.
I installed another app called "Choice Dialer Free" and it is much better except that I still have to enable the app first on screen and then give commands so that is still NOT what I want.
I am on CheckRom Revo.v4
***EDIT*** I found the Samsung Voicetogo app and am installing it now. I will see how that works and advise...
On my phone it works fine from the BT device I start it using the button on the BT device then talk into it.
Your phone isn't pin or pattern locked right? Because Samsung stupidly removed the ability to use voice commands when locked (normal slide to unlock is fine though) I had to give up security for the ability to use my phone when driving because of it.
I am also from Alberta so I know the laws you are dealing with that require voice dialing.
I wonder if any others you installed are conflicting with voicetogo which is the preinstalled Samsung version of Vlingo.

I am using the JKAY Deluxe Mod that comes with my ROM and yes... I have the "slide to unlock" but under it I have the "pin lock" as well however... even when the phone is unlocked it is not working.
I just installed the "voicetogo" and will give it a try and report back...

Just have the S2 from my old faithful HTC HD2 - with the HTC I use to use it in the gym with my bluetooth headset listening to music but with the phone turned off so I would not be disturbed..........
And from what I can see that is no longer possible with the S2 - surely there must be a way to turn the phone off and still use bluetooth without having to hack the root etc
I know I can use WiFI while in flight mode and GPS but that does not help whilst out running / in the gym - that's basically my time and I do not want to be disturbed, or disturb others hence wanting to simply turn the phone off that's all

By "phone off" you don't actually mean powering the device off, do you? Because that would be neat trick, listening to your music while the device was completely powered off.
You could turn Auto reject mode on to turn away all calls. (settings > call > call rejection)
EDIT: and what's wrong with flight mode? I'm not clear on why this wouldn't work for you. Or is it that you still want mobile data, but no phone calls?
EDIT 2: Herp derp, I see, it IS because you want mobile data, right? Since if you're out running, you don't have wifi available. So yeah, Auto reject mode should work for you.

He wants to use his phone like an mp3 player with bluetooth headsets. He wants to "turn off" phone functions and use only the phone like a music player.
AFAIK in "flight mode" is not possible to use bluetooth.

D'oh... missed one little detail.
Right, it's not possible. Bluetooth won't turn on in flight mode. Sorry.
Auto reject mode should still work for the OP's purposes though.
AloneOnTheDark is spot on - really just a simple request one would have thought......
He wants to use his phone like an mp3 player with bluetooth headsets. He wants to "turn off" phone functions and use only the phone like a music player.
Only issue using the Auto Reject mode is that the caller calling me does not get put through to my voice mail and all the caller hears is that the call is unauthorised..... so not really that sensible as it might be a client trying to get hold of me, and at least a voice mail etc they can handle.............
Still can't believe this is such a major issue and that there are no apps / wdigets to do this, though did come across one potential one where you might be able to turn the phone off, but there was a caveat that it might not work and that you would have to do a factory reset etc

Then you can change your forwarding. settings > call > call forwarding > voice call. Activate "always forward", and put in your voice mail number for your carrier. It should be the same number as the three other forwarding options below it. Same menu options to disable it when you want to turn it off.

Call forwarding is built into the OS, so probably no one saw the need to build an app for it... Just guessing though.
ctomgee thanks that's the way to go - bit of a faff to do but worth it for some peace & quiet away from the phone, and I know I could have ignored the call, but can never bring myself to do that

No prob.
FYI, you can create a shortcut directly to the call fowarding settings menu too. Just download "Any Cut" from the market. Or if you're using Launcher Pro as your homescreen launcher, you can do this with a long press on the homescreen. It's a bit of a pain to find stuff you want to shortcut to, but you only have to do it once this way.

Or you could do that.
I honestly didn't even check the market for an app for it. I just assumed there wasn't one because you said there wasn't one.
Hi can you tell me which app you found please? I've tried several but can't switch on BT with any of them once in flight mode. I want to do exactly what you do in the gym! Thanks!
Do any of the ICS ROMs available on XDA have Voice Command that will work with a BT headset?
Or has anyone found an app that enables you to voice dial from a BT headset? I've scoured the forums and haven't found a solution that works for my AT&T Galaxy S2.
I'm running Serendipity and it doesn't have it. I've also tried Vlingo and Cyberon without success. Shocking that Google wouldn't carry voice command over from GB!!
I just found a vlingo apk that is really the Samsung Voice Command from GB ported to ICS. It works well.
I've attached it for those interested.
I think that was something samsung messed up, not sure though

Follow up for Voice Command
I have been testing the Voice Command apk I attached in my previous post and it works well except for one fairly big problem. Voice Command doesn't work when my phone's screen is off. As soon as I turn on the screen by pressing the Power button (but with the lockscreen still on), VC works fine.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately I don't have any ideas...I'm in the same boat. I'm using the samsung VC app (pulled from sammy ICS - I posted it up for someone, somewhere a while ago) on Task/Ktoons AOKP. It works perfectly fine launching from the BT headset button if the screen is on, but it won't wake the screen - I haven't been able to get it to work on any custom ROM actually...
Hmmm...now that you brought this up, I wonder if it's possible to integrate this into a tasker profile to make the BT headset button wake the screen, then launch VC?
Thanks for getting me thinking...guess I have an idea after all...

Which BT headset are you using (I just bought the Blueant Q2)? I was hoping that it wasn't just my headset, so I wouldn't have to return it.
Let me know if you can figure it out.

Well, digging around in tasker, it appears it does not have a Bluetooth button trigger. Or if it does, I'm looking in the wrong place for it. I haven't actually tried, but it appears to be possible to force the phone either to screen off awake state, or full screen on awake upon bt connection. This would at least automate the process upon initial Bluetooth connection followed by an immediate call. Doesn't fix the problem of a user wanting to initiate a call on a stable idle connection though... gonna keep digging a little more.
I'm using an LG headset I got for 6 bucks from newegg 2 years ago. More reliable and better battery life by far than the 2 previous 70 dollar motorolas...

I didn't really grasp what you are talking about, but I'll take your word for it.
BTW, I did a search on appbrain for 'screen timeout' as I thought there might be something useful to you. Here's the link:
http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=screen timeout
So this happened on my note 8 after an update but I dropped it a few times and figure I had busted it somehow. But now that I have my s9 plus, same thing.
When connected to my cars BT, the mic does not work to trigger ok google or bixby or even hit the mic button to dictate a message. If I make or answer a phone call, it works, but only phone calls. It also might work once randomly for ok google after a reset but only once. My p2XL works perfectly. Is there some weird battery optimization thing turning it off? if I disconnect it from the BT, ok google triggers every time.
