[ROM] Note Edge 915K (Korean) NK5 deodexed, zipaligned, rooted - Note Edge Android Development

1) I do not have a Note Edge 915K, so I cannot test this package. I used a kitchen to build the zip, so you will have to see if it works.
2) This may very well brick your phone. You hold me harmless if you choose to proceed.
3) Make a full nandroid backup before proceeding.
4) Have the factory tar ready to Odin if it soft bricks. You can download it here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473398706
5) I used the above tar to build the zip. The zip does not wipe /data. If you're already on NK5, you should be able to dirty flash.
6) The zip package is zipaligned, deodexed, rooted, and startup sound disabled. It also includes the NK5 modem in the flash package.
7) The SuperSU is an older version. You may need to flash the SuperSU 2.16 update zip from this thread after you flash the ROM zip to achieve full root.
I only did this because someone requested it. Let me know if it works.
Download Link
As it turns out @scoobysnack had already build a flashable with everything above + the latest SuperSU. I did mine because I misunderstood what he meant.
His ROM is here
Please thank him for his work (his post is immediately below this one).
Be advised--like me, he cannot test the ROM, so take all precautions.
Edit December 16 2014: It looks like either mediafire is not working or scoob took down the link. I restored my link. See above. You can try that one.

As always, have a full backup and be prepared to roll back to stock and lose your config/data. Worst case, there is always a brick possibility when you flash. Again, I was unable to test the ROM. Do reply to the post and let me know if it worked.

I am rooted and installed with cwm on Nk 5 at the moment do I have to erase anything or just flash it with odin , sorry I am new in this , thanks

You flash zips using CWM, not Odin. No, you do not need to wipe. Just make sure you follow all the directions, including backup and restore via Odin if necessary. Pay attention to step 7. Again, I haven't tested this.

Don't know what you mean. It is exactly what is included in the Samsung K ROM, I just deodexed zipaligned and rooted it.

I Got an MDK Device. Now What?

I recently purchased an MDK device and I was wondering if anyone could let me know what recoveries I can flash.
You are now able to install any recovery on the s4! Want TWRP? You can get it. CWM, no problem. Heck, safestrap might even work. And you can flash any s4 ROM you want like the gpe ROM, octorom, cyanogenmod. Have fun with mdk! Still need a device with mdk myself XD.

I don't know if you can answer this, but when you say any TWRP recovery, do you mean ANY? Are all versions of TWRP loki'd? And how do I install a new custom recovery if I already have one? Do I use recovery tools app? And do I have to remove the other one first? Sorry for the barrage of questions, I'm just not looking to screw anything up on a fresh MDK device.
For TWRP, Just go to the play store and download Goo Manager, and that will install the latest TWRP when you choose to install it. If you need to uninstall a custom recovery, you will need to use odin 3.07 or above and the MDK full wipe .tar file (Im trying to find it for you as of now, will reply when found) and flash the stock mdk firmware so you can use loki/root and install a new recovery and a custom rom.
OK because the device comes with CWM installed. Can I update it through CWM ROM manager? And goomanager is no longer supported as an app. Also, where do I download gapps?
Hey again, found the MDK full wipe tar file. Here it is. http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...Galaxy S4 (Verizon) (SCH-I545)/Stock ROMs/TAR And just so its quicker, here is the loki link for you just so its right here when you get back to stock mdk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798 Also, when you use odin, dont forget to put the .tar in the PDA slot (3.07) or the AP slot (3.08 and above) If you need anything else, im usually online so i can help ASAP

I have a no wipe MDK.tar file. What's the difference between full and no wipe? And any ideas for my questions on my last post? Sorry for asking so many. Just don't want to mess anything up.
Full wipe will delete everything, but it will be able to 100% delete any recovery if you dont want, the no wipe will keep data but restore every partition, i think that includes recovery, if you need to keep the data, try the no wipe, and see if recovery is there, if not, you can install CWM from the play store or find a flashable TWRP for odin, depending on preference. And if you want to just keep CWM, i think the CWM app should be able to update it. Also didnt know goomanager wasnt a thing anymore. Havent used a custom recovery in a year or two, stuck with safestrap.

Now can I flash the no wipe or full wipe through CWM? Or just the no wipe? I'm guessing just the no wipe.
I dont believe both can be flashed in CWM, both say to use odin.

Make sure to keep reading so you don't make the fatal mistake of flashing a locked non-MDK bootloader...

I just read through the thread and sensed confusion. Use Odin 3.09 (just google it) to flash (in the AP box) The MDK full Wipe tar.md5, that will set the device to stock MDK, then download either CWM (http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-jfltevzw.img) or TWRP (http://goo.im/devs/s0updev/gooinsideme) and flash one of them with Flashify from the Play Store.
Download the ROM of your choice and place on SD Card and install using your Custom Recovery, use Gapps from here for CM (http://itvends.com/gapps/gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip), here for AOSP (http://highonandroid.com/android-apps/download-android-4-4-4-gapps/) and Touchwiz ROMs should already contain them because they are licenced to.

No odin needed. Just download and flash via flashify.
Also, this is a bit off of the current conversation, but for some reason my Google Apps aren't updating themselves. I don't have the material design Play Store or any of the very recent updates for the Google Apps. Any ideas?

[ROM] OD3 Stock G900P Sprint full tar file odin flashable ONLY!

just thought id put this up since i haven't seen it posted.
this is the full OD3 stock Rom tar.MD5 file
it is odin Flashable.
I will warn you alot of people are saying once they upgraded to this bootloader they couldnt get OA6 roms to flash so beware.
any download mirrors would be appreciated
Here is another link but this one you have to unzip then use Odin to flash the tar file inside thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=61215093
download
use odin 3.10.6 but i believe 3.10.0 will work also
put the file in the AP slot and flash
you will most likely lose root but here it is any way
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=cd08ce789eb6b040!141
It should be noted that if anyone flashes this firmware they will NOT be able to flash back to a previous firmware.
i will also note that some people could gain root with chainfire and flash custom recovery through odin then restore backups of OA6 but again beware

Wasn't sure about chainfire's root method on this version since I'm not running it, so hopefully it still works. @Ramer has uploaded this as well to a file hosting site so if he doesn't see this, ask him for a link for his download link so you can add a mirror site to the OP as an alternate if you like.

Here the file I put up on AFH: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952615017
I have to question the title of this thread though. This is NOT flashable in recovery. It's the zip file that must be unzipped on a PC and then Odin the tar file. It's the original one from Sammobile.
The OP gives correct instructions, I just think the word flashable is bound to confuse someone.

You are correct. It's probably just my hesitation to using the word flashable and odin at the same time. I've lost count of how many users see a zip and think "I'll flash this"

Yes. Once flashed don't reboot. Pull the battery and go back into download mode and flash twrp. Img in the ap slot
You can find the file at Moars op under recovery and odin
After you flash the custom recovery image pull battery boot into recovery from recovery hit reboot. It will then prompt you that there's no root and would you like to root. Choose yes. Tada
Sprint GS5 Moars 6.2
I did as instructed, but the TWRP that i loaded did not ask for a root option, it did some updates, then it automatically reboots the phone, I pull the battery, then reboot it back into recovery again, and reboot it back into recovery from the recovery screen, it ask me to install super user, i say yes, then reboot back into system now it has a icon that says Superuser installer, I click on it and choose TWRP, gives me error

Stock Deodexed Tmobile G900T Lollipop 5.0 anyone?

I looked around for one but was unable to find one. Maybe Twi5sted's stock has the original kernel but encryption fails when I attempt it.
Any suggestions?

I'm getting a bootloop with a very bright split second tmobile splash screen just before it reboots. I have latest TWRP, link2sd and encryption... I wonder what the problem could be...
how to make stock recovery flashable?
I do have another question regarding this rom - would you happen to know how I may be able to make the embedded recovery image flashable? TWRP doesn't seem to be working at the moment with regard to decrypting and formatting /data but the stock recovery does. It can come in handy if there is a way to do it via mobile odin possibly or via some other program.

Right now I have stock recovery as I recently reflashed the Rom. At some point however I plan to go back to TWRP.
If I run into encryption problems and need to do a reset, I would like to see if I can flash TWRP using TWRP app while booted in safe mode (if I am able to get that far).
What do you think?

Yay it worked, thanks a lot
I guess I should keep the stock recovery installed with this thing encrypted because TWRP seems broken (at least version 2.8.7.0). I emailed the developer about it.
Now I'm wondering for added flexibility, how I may be able to flash the stock recovery from MobileOdin. That seems to take .md5 files and not zips. Is this feasible to do?

Well thanks! Maybe you can point me toward the Windows way as I would like to do the same for the stock kernel, xposed, and the tethering addon.
fishinpercolator so are you having trouble with TWRP? What I did in FlashFire was flash the pre-rooted de-odexed ROM (that I linked earlier) then booted that. It was de-odexed and worked fine but boot took about 15 minutes (as it is de-odexed).
In FlashFire you need to hit the + and press Flash ZIP or OTA.
Then I installed FlashFire again (it was erased because I flashed a new ROM) and downloaded the Samsung 5.0 Xposed ZIP and flashed that in FlashFire using Flash ZIP or OTA. Basically since I have Knox 0x0, I use FlashFire as my "recovery" and it might be easier for you than finding a working TWRP image (although I am sure ShinySide is more than eager to help you). Then I installed the Xposed APK and had to reboot before it recognized the Xposed ZIP was installed.
After that, most Xposed modules started working for me.

I haven't used flashfire but will look into it. I've already tripped knox a while ago so that's not my prime concern. I want this phone to be encrypted and would like to learn a way to fix on the fly while on vacation (and without a laptop) in the event a catastrophe happens. It seems TWRP may not be removing the crypto footer when I format data as I still get the encryption password prompt.
Seems like flashfire allows you to flash roms from USB? I will need instructions for that.... <pokes around>
::update::
For some reason I thought flashfire was command line driven... I have Mobile Odin and I read that it contains flashfire, something worth looking into.
Is there a way to flash roms using ADB from a usb stick?
(NOTE- I should clarify, is there a way to flash from a command prompt assuming custom recovery is not installed and the phone is soft-bricked).

ROM for Odin of PH1 update

This is the Odin flashables for the PH1 update retrieved from Kies3. I find it different that the ROM is in four files, and I don't know how to combine them. You will actually need to select all four check boxes in Odin 3.11 or newer, and select the correct files based on their prefixes. Just a reminder: remember to backup everything so you don't lose anything!

Thank you for this! I have a G900P I had flashed over to boost and used for several months and now going to flash back to sprint.

Thank you for this, if I'm wanting to keep my custom recovery and be rooted would I just select the BL, CP, and CSC then flash the stock rooted in TWRP? And can I load all 3 in Odin at once or is there an order I should flash in? I remember when I flashed to OK2 I had to do a specific order and pull the battery in between, wasn't sure if that's still the case. Thanks in advance.
I honestly don't know about the custom recovery using the Odin flash. You could try it, but you'd have to reinstall your SU binaries. These files will not work in TWRP. As for loading the files in Odin, yes, you load all of them at the same time. I would recommend trying the prerooted ROM I posted first.

Thank you, the pre-rooted ROM is in 7zip, doesn't it have to be zipped? Should I just extract and zip?
**edit** Nevermind, I bit the bullet and flashed the Odin file then my custom recovery afterwards. All is working, thank you for the guide and files.
Problem extracting files from the PHI zip
I'm trying to extract the files to a folder, but getting "unknown compression method" error so files won't extract. Is this common? Anyone seen this before? Is there another way to extract the files so I can load them individually into Odin?
Thanks

Instructions For Installing Pie Roms
Please Note This Is Not A Root Method For Oreo Or Pie. As Of Now There Is Still No Root Method For Oreo Or Pie. This Takes Some Patience To InstallNote8 SM-N950U/U1/W Install Instructions And Files
If you didnt upgrade to V8 bootloaders using odin. I recommend flashing full stock firmware with V8 bootloaders even if you are already on V8 bootloader via OTA update. I feel that maybe something in the OTA from V7 bootloaders to V8 may have corrupted a bootloader file and some people have experienced bricks with trying to update to V8 bootloaders from V7 using the below method so I recommend flashing full stock V8 firmware in Odin before trying this method and just understand there has been a risk of bricking device. Full stock can be found on Sammobile or updato or any other service you can find it. You will have to reroot of course. If you Updated to V8 bootloaders using odin method already then no need to do so again
Download
N950USQS8DVB1_SAFESTRAP.7z
Google_Pixel_Experience_Pie_8_Seriers.zip
Flash after you flash the system image above with a data wipe
After setup you need to set google dialer as default call app
Install Instructions Safestrap Method New Install Or Base Update
Make Sure The Latest Samsung Drivers Are Installed. They Can Be Found Here
You Must have safestrap installed to get safestrap follow the guide located below
Root And Safestrap For Note8 Up To V7 Bootloaders
1. If on V6 bootloaders before starting the process. If on V6 Pie rom reboot to download and flash the BL_N950USQS8DTG3_LEAVE_SAFESTRAP.tar.md5 then reboot this will put you on V8 bootloaders before starting
2. Copy SYSTEM_****.img to your internal sdcard. Reboot to safestrap In Safestrap choose install then choose select storage and select internal storage click ok then at bottom choose install image and choose SYSTEM_****.img then select flash to system image then swipe to flash. You can flash any mod zips at this time after you flash system image. Then in wipe tab chose wipe then advance wipe then wipe data
3. To leave safestrap reboot to bootloader or download from reboot tab.
4. In odin load BL_N950USQS7DTE5.tar.md5 in BL slot and
HOME_CSC_OYN_N950U_CACHE.tar.md5 in CSC slot flash phone will reboot to recovery and wipe cache then reboot
Instructions To Enter And Exit Safestrap After Initial Install. To Flash A Zip And Etc.
1. To enter safetrap flash the BL_RNTER_SAFESTRAP_N950UDTE5_V7.tar.md5 in BL Slot in odin phone will boot too safestrap sometimes it may take a minute to do so
2. To leave safestrap reboot to download from safestrap reboot menu
3. Use modded Odin and load BL_LEAVE_SAFESTRAP_N950UDTE5_V7.tar.md5 In BL Slot

Mod Zips
SM_N950U_Mods_Safestrap_PIE.zip This will add call recording and a few other features to your csc
View attachment Adaway_Blocking_No_Root_Pie.zip
Install zip in safestrap
boot phone back up to system
you will have 2 apps in your apps drawer Host Adblocking and Stock Adblocking
too enable adblocking run the Host Adblocking app it may require rebooting phone to work
too disable adblocking run Stock Adblocking this probably will not require a reboot
what this does is move the system/etc/hosts file to the internal storage of your phone then I symliink the one in the internal storage to the system/etc/host file this way the file can be changed back and forth . If you would wipe data in stock recovery however you would need to reflash the zip in safetrap as a data wipe would delete the host file since it is now located on internal storage
Asking for clarity on the 80% bug. Is that bug only present if you are rooting the device? Is that a specific partition that gets modified that causes that bug that is only modified during the root process? Does this method without rooting the device also have the 80% bug with it?
Kind regards,
Cyrano
It's not a bug

Been having issues with the N950USQS7DTA5_SAFESTRAP.rar filed in post #1. Doesn't unrar or unzip. Maybe it's just on my end but has anyone successfully used and accessed this file? I have tried downloading it twice to no avail.
EDIT: Looks like changing the version of 7zip I was initially using (version 19) to an older one (version 16) did the trick. No more unrar unzip issues.
What if you are already on the latest bootloader ? Also will I then be able to install an adbocker ?

Once you get safestrap installed you can start on number 2 in the directions but its fine to do step 1 even if you are on latest bootloader. I do have an adblock for non rooted pie rom

Go to software information in setting it will show you
<strikethrough>If on rooted nougat rom, wanting to go to pie from here, need to wipe / factory reset first before ODIN step? </strikethrough>
Actually, please confirm since I was running stock pie on BL7, and now I am on rooted nougat, all I need to do is reboot to safestrap, and wipe data / factory reset and then flash the DTA5_system.img .
Thanks for all this ... miss the flashing days.

If you want root you have to use the rooted nougat rom in the root thread. This rom is not rooted but still has safestrap so you can still flash mod zips and delete system apps. So why do you need to disable knox? I mean on this rom you could delete it if you want but that will break Samsung pay and pass

I tried this rom. Removed samsung camera pie app, install a nougat camera app which i like but it won't work, which for me is deal breaker on this pie rom. The camera is always top priority feature on phone these days.
There's something very very special about camera app that samsung want to control it and its quality and we can never revert back to its original quality in android 7.1.1 even with some "hacking" like this. why make things so hard then i will make thing hard to buy you
Thank you for your work but i am afraid i use samsung phone again
