Are you talking about the radio for your phone, or the app? Lolol
If you want an app, use TuneIn me radio, or something similar, forgot what it's called
But for the software radio, i duno what's good, find them in danne jo's wildpuzzle thread.
Hi! I am currently using an unofficial port of CM7 on my O1. I downloaded from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
However, the radio app in this ROM is not pretty good, it won't scan channels and the quality is bad as well. While fiddling with Titanium Backup, I deleted the default app!
I was trying to find the default radio app but couldn't find it. Can someone please help me with installation of the default radio app for O1? I would like to go for the original radio that came with 2.2 since that was perfect for me.
Guys please help me!!
Default radio app won't work. Already tried. Wait for next betas.

OK. Well, is there any other app that I can use for tuning into local radio??? Please let me know.
Nope, FM radio is not very well supported by Mik's CM... you'll have to wait or use online radio/other rom.
The bug is posted in the first port from Mik's gingerbread based CM. Read carefully before installing.
The radio app works for me on CM7 beta5. Only thing is it uses an *analog* tuner with no scanning, really weird!!!
I just received my new Sony Z Ultra GPe and I couldn't be happier with the device performance but I was really pissed to find that Google decided to remove the FM Radio application that Sony had included on the regular Sony Xperia Z Ultra!!
I tried installing the same APK that is included on the regular Z Ultra but the installation didn't work because it's a system app and my device isn't rooted.
I tried using Spirit FM but unfortunately that failed to activate the built in FM radio and didn't work.
Is there an FM radio app that we can use on the GPe ?

Could you post a link or upload the Sony FM apk so I could test with rooted GPe?

I tried three different apks, the one you posted and one that was nodded to work without headphones don't even show in app drawer. Third one was posted in a ROM thread for different Sony phone showed up but gives toast message saying it has quit working as soon as it trys to open. I wonder if it needs the odex file?
Have you had any luck with Spirit FM ? I've read that it's supposed to work, but again that needs root?

It does work! I had tried it before it was rooted not realizing it was required. The version I had purchased has been renamed "old spirit FM lite" and is no longer supported. Spirit1 seems to work but I didn't get Spirit2 to start. Anyways thanks for spurring me to test Spirit further.
Edit....uninstalled spirit lite and Spirit2 works, also has Bluetooth support.
Is there a way the apk for the FM radio application from the original z ultra I posted above can be modified to work on our GPe?

Doomlord has successfully booted a Sony ROM (681) on his GPe now, so you'll soon have the chance to test the Sony ROM if you feel like it.

Not really, I love the GPe experience, just missing some standard sw like the FM radio, note app, handwriting keyboard.

Yeah, that's the thing isn't it. I have the Xperia model, but i'm currently running the GPe ROM and i love it for its lightness, but with lightness comes minimalism, and i'm a true minimalist in real life and hate having stuff i don't use, BUT having to install a third party videoplayer if i'd like to stream something is incredible annoying. Stuff the stock Sony ROM does out-of-the-box is not possible on a clean AOSP build.
I still love it though, but once in awhile i just have to go back to the Sony ROM and get cozy. Everything there just works.

Sorry for off topic but this seems as good as anywhere to ask.
1. Does uninstalling Sony apps cause issues?
2. Do Sony apps work with 3rd party launchers?

How dare you go off topic! Just kidding.
- No, it depends on what you're deleting. You will end up soft bricking it if you delete SystemUI or any other important app/service/libs but you're safe if you only want to remove "bloat". I made a list of apps that are safe to remove ages ago, and it's somewhere in the Themes & Apps section, so check that out. Be sure to either have a NAND backup ready in case something goes wrong, or know how to recover from a soft brick (bootloop etc)
- Yes, but some or all Sony widgets won't work.

We were close yesterday I think with monx's ROM, just a wrong kernel would have been all that was stopping the boot I think
Is there a way the stock Sony FM Radio app which I posted before can be modified to be installed without root (as a non-system app)?
I don't want to root my device for the moment but I want to be able to use the built in FM Radio.
BTW I was bummed with updated my GPe to 4.4.3 and found that Google still didn't include an FM radio app!

Google has never had a radio app, and that will probably never happen.

So I've finally rooted my GPe, now I want to get FM radio working.
Can you please tell me the configuration you used to get Spirit FM working, keeps force closing for me!
I tried installing the Apk from the original Xperia ZU for the FM radio but that never showed up in my app list!

First thing is I had it working on 4.4.2 and never tried it after updating. Now I am using a Sony Z Ultra and not the GPe anymore, sorry I can't recall what it took to get it working.

If rooted, try the latest test release of Spirit2 here: http://d-h.st/vky
Or Spirit1: http://d-h.st/de8
Usually, it should "just work". If not, in Spirit1, send me a debug log. Tap the frequency button, enter the number 7 and tap "OK". After 20 seconds or so, press Send from your email client.
Google hates FM, so you don't find it on Nexus or GPE devices. Maybe Google One for "developing world" though, LOL.
ALL stock FM apps rely on "framework" code, usually proprietary and secret. Not a single GPE device has ever been able to run a stock FM app, only Spirit, which is low level and has mostly just kernel requirements. I'm just happy that Google's OEMs have accidentally(?) left the Qualcomm FM driver in the stock kernels.
I'm thinking about officially supporting Sony devices in Spirit2, and so I'm reading these forums to learn about different Z models. Used Z Ultras are now as low as $280 here, and new GPE as low as $350 so far,.But buying a phone is just a fraction of the long term cost learning how to root, unlock, flash ROMs without bricking, etc...

The version you posted just works, I must have been using an older version, thanks alot!
This is the rip apk from the D6603. Just install like a normal apk. This works for the KitKat firmware.
Credits to @zachariahpope for the implementing into his custom rom and getting this app out for the Z3v!
For those who are on the Lollipop build, please download this Radio apk made to work for it. https://mega.nz/#!O5pkEaYT!nMVb2aM-IejOxMvtUE-qpfqWDs-541cUBdhPv0ojBz0

Hey, I personally would like to thank you and anyone involved for bringing the FM radio back to its rightful place on my wife's Z3v...I'm excited about it, and unfortunately she's not! Lol. She's like "who cares anyone can get an FM app from Play Store" and I said "no".... I explained to her what's going on and what it does...she still doesn't care....oh well, I tried. I still like it...wish my Nexus 6 had an FM transmitter

I agree, you might want to inform her though that there is only one FM tuner app on play store that gives you the radio, but requires root and costs $7. Whereas this is something Sony designed and we simply should have had it in the first place for no extra cost. And this is it. lol
I have been having trouble with this on lollipop. I don't get any sound it tunes into the station but no sound. I tried disabling OK Google detection but still no sound. It worked on KitKat for me but not lollipop

I've had the same issue. I finally got my rooted lollipop working, but for some reason, this app does not want to put out sound. It finds all the stations but no music is actually outputted through the speakers or headphones.
Yah that's what's happening to me it finds the stations no sound.

I'm on the prerooted Lollipop from the famous "Post 44", and the out-of-the box FM radio crashed on startup. The Lollipop update here starts up and tunes in my local radio stations, but I can't get any sound out of it. Any suggestions?

Download the radio3.apk from post 11 on this thread its machbe's post
I installed the apk and everytime i close the app my phone gives me a pop up saying unable to find Bluetooth connectivity or something like that, otherwise the app itself works fine
Thanks so much to those who made this FM radio apk possible for my Z3v, almost 1 year into ownership and its so nice to find a new feature. My brother will be so stoked to be able to have radio on his phone!! ???
Love the app on my Z3v. Thanks!
Works great on ?. 509 build ??
Would anyone mind re-uploading the updated lollipop Fm radio app? Mine would not work after lollipop update, the old APK will not install and the lollipop link above has gone stale.
I thought it was just me and meant to ask the same thing. Thank you

We have a working app in Tigerhood's 5.1.1 twrp build if someone knows how to package it up and get it in a zip installer.
